Whoever wrote this reply is an iidiot to be honest. Was Oshiomhole interfering on Ekiti's affairs before Fayose via his so called aides brought him into a matter he should not have been brought into? |

Amaechi just stated the obvious. We don't need to remind ourselves we will end there. It is just inevitable.
Plus why is the government worried, is it planning massive rigging already? |

APContherun: People who ask what the govt is doing about fighting corruption needs to understand that the best and sure way to do so is block all avenues that lead to corruption. Cutting fuel subsidy is a sure way to reduce corruption in that sector, it may hurt in the short run but eventually everything will balance out. But as has been said the President must have to carry the labour unions and civil society organisations along in the implementation of this policy but I doubt the unions will see reasons for it and it will be 1st Jan 2012 all over again. Sorry mate but this is pure nonsense. Are you honestly saying the citizenry should pay for the inability of the government to punish those stealing the fuel subsidy money? You and I and the government agree there is a lot of scam going on with the subsidy thing but why make people pay for the government's inability to bring to book the scamsters? Or why hasn't no one been prosecuted all along? Also, what exactly has the government done with the accruals from hike in pump price from 70 naira to 97 naira? When oil prices was high in the world market, what exactly have they achieved from the extra? Remember when we have the benchmark price at $73 and oil was above $100? Where is the extra? Why is the government not talking about reducing the bogus salaries government officials receives? |

hizroyalflynes: Section 68 (1) and 109(1) of the 1999 constitution under the” Tenure for seat of members” states that: “A member of the Senate or House of Representatives (House of Assembly) shall vacate his seat in the House of which he is a member if- (g) Being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected, provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored.” The provisions of these sections of the constitution were explicit in matters which concerned the legislature. It clearly mandates that any member of the legislature, who intends to defect to another party, must prove that division exists in the party of which he was a member, or that his party has merged with two or more parties or factions. It is Illegal to beat people, but you see Police do it when they want to get people off the round or people trying to avert arrest. What the law makers have done can be akin to that. |

onatisi: believe me , this picture is a complete embarrassment to the national assembly and its members. Why should a serving federal house of rep member be jumping over a gate !!! This is complete madness. A gate represent some sort of control or law , once u get to a gate u are supposed to fulfill all formalities and if you are not allowed in then you can channel ur complains through the appropriate channels. To be honest people with the kind of mentality exhibited by the law breaker have no business been in nigeria political setting ,they should be at the transport garages and they will be better suited as transport union chairmen . If law maker has this mentality of jumping over the assembly gate in full glare of global press then one can imagine the type of contributions he will be making at the floor of the house . Are you taking yourself seriously? Let me ask you couple of questions 1. Where in the constitution is it written that the law makers can be stopped from performing the duties for which they were elected? 2. If there is such law, can you please quote it and I will apologise to you. 3. If there is no such law then why is Mr Shoeless trying to stop these people from performing their elective duties? 4. Is there anything bad in trying to forcefully undo what has been illegally done? Please make sure you reply. |
Politics › Re: Why We Invaded The National Assembly And Fired Tear Gas At The Speaker-Police by arsetalks(m): 8:42pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
The police is a disgrace in this country. There were thugs? Fine, no problem, how come all the so call thugs escaped and not a single arrest were made? Made no such arrests because it was a lie?
Also, please criticising the law makers need to use their brains. Is there any law in the land that says the lawmakers do not have the right to seat and honour their constitutional duty? If there is such law, can someone please quote it for the perusal of us all?
And if there is no such law, why his MR shoeless trying to stop them illegally? If someone does something illegally, it is also illegal if another person tries to ensure what is illegally done is undone?
People need to stop been partisan in their thinking. These law makers have done nothing wrong. It is the shoeless man that needs to explain to the world why he feels this people should not seat to perform the duty they were elected for. |
