I would like to address this as i have been seeing this alot. I know it is not easy checking for dates and only seeing dates after your resumptions, i know it can be frustrating.

But what i want to say is chilllll , i know the resumption dates are getting closer and the interview dates are getting farther, but i would say on no account should you chose a day later than your resumption date at this point (i am saying at this point because i know some people would get extension letter and all that but that should be your very last resort, don't go with that option for now)

The embassy does this every admission period, there might not be date for a while but it will come to a time that they would open up dates and the fastest people would take it. The interview date might even be few days away.

So i would say, chilll, keep being alert, keep checking for the dates, don't chose a date after your resumption.

With January 20 resumption date, I hope interviewing on January 15 won't lead to a denial on arrival

URGENT PLEASE:

Resumption date (with respect to assistantship duties): January 5, 2020
Start of Classes: January 27, 2020
First available appointment date(as of now): January 3 (Abuja), January 7 (Lagos)
Valid date of appearance at the embassy (at most): December 30
Program: PhD

I heard that application for expedited appointment would require original I20. All I have now is the draft. Original will probably get to me on Friday next week (Dec 6), as international office would be sending it on Monday next week.
Mailed International Students office already with regards to getting an extension, but got an auto-reply: office to reopen on Monday next week.

I noticed something awkward here...

Even after bringing to the notice of the VO that full funding (+stipends) was offered, the VO still went on to ask "who is your sponsor"?

Is that normal?

You're correct. I know someone who is there now (PhD Mechanical Engineering) and since he got in, all the promises of funding have been a mirage. He's from a rich family so he is pulling through. Michigan Tech is really disappointing considering the nature of industrial work in Michigan

First part sounds generic, second part not pointed enough

Was your second chance for an impressive answer to the VO, but your answer came out 90% generic (to me). It's a strong point no doubt, but how does it affect you directly??

Let me know what you think. I will be trying again next year, hopefully I will get an assistantship. I also have an application against next Fall. Can I change my school if I got admitted with funding?

It depends on the terms of the scholarship. Ordinarily, you won't be offered two funding opportunities at once. You may be asked to jettison one.

Try to contact uniben, is either sent to the registrar's office or your department. Go there or send someone very active.

From my experience. about a week from when WES update your profile to awaiting verification from your school, you should notify your school about verifying your transcript. It's also better and faster if you have someone on the inside say an assistant registral. It will make it easy since you close to the deadline and verification may require you paying to your school again.

Please does anyone who graduated from Uniben have an idea as to how the verification by Uniben is done? Is it by fax, email or postal/courier service(hard copy)? Verification mail (electronic or hard copy - not sure) has been sent to my school since December as indicated on my account page with WES. Due to the ongoing NASU strike, nothing has been done. With deadline for admissions in less than a month from now, I am desperate and frustrated. Any suggestions on the way forward will be welcome! Thank you

If you know someone in exams and records of your school, it can be fast tracked. Depending on the school though. Maybe you place some calls.
