Islam for Muslims / Is She The Only One? by ash1akintola(m): 6:43am On Dec 15, 2017
Is she the only one?

By Ashraf Akintola

We live in a world where what is sin is no longer seen and observers of the trend had to stay out of the box and watch with dismay how events unfold. It is a world where we sympathize with the oppressor at the expense of the oppressed. It doesn’t matter who is on the right lane, it is a matter of how aristocratic and convincing you can tell your side of the story. It is indeed a wide wild world. Rats now mew and Birds no longer chirp like of old. We wallow as Hon Patrick most aptly submit, "in a state of menicisetal statetism, cankerous tribalism, Ethnocentric chauvinism, syphilitic parochialism, epileptic nepotism, catalytic parapoism, and state brigandish of the bluest dye".

On the 13th day of December, 2017 at the call to bar ceremony of the Nigerian law school Abuja campus, a lady was barred from entering the ICC because she refused to remove her hijab in defiance to the tradition of the ceremony. Strange indeed! Friends of the affected sister, a graduate of the better by far university, took to social media and clamored for justice. Well, that’s the trend nowadays! The aftermath of the call for justice with the thought of a positive reception by the general public was met with a staunch and repugnant blockade. Is she the only one? Started trending! Truly is she the only one! Almost a question, but rather rhetoric! Some say she is stubborn, other submitted she must have been brainwashed to believe what she is doing is ultimately the right thing to do. Well! Time would tell.

For those who do not know, Hijab is mandatory for all female Muslims to use. It is a piece of clothing that covers the physique of the female from head to toe. It is a right recognized by the Nigerian constitution to be enjoyed by those who want to use it as an Islamic dress code. So the full picture is that the lady in question wants to practice her religion and at the same time exercise her fundamental human rights, If not in any other place, in a law school where the whole law is being churned out. It is however ironic and at the same time sardonic that the place where she thought she would be received with both arms wide open was where she met the staunchest opposition. In short, it was at the law dinner which was the hallmark of her six year sojourn in university and law school that she was robbed of her rights in broad day light.

Dear readers, you might agree with me and ask the same question similar to the heading of this write up as she isn’t the only hijab sister that is waiting to be called to bar. As was told, others yanked theirs off at the slightest provocation of not being allowed to enter the venue leaving our lovely sister to bear the consequences of her actions alone. Be wary of the fact that neither the writer nor the sister in question is rebuking the other hijabites for their actions or do the writer place the sister in a high state of eeman(belief) over the others, rather, the point to be proven is the yanking off of our fundamental rights as muslims. It might not be you today, but bear it in mind that it may come to your turn any time soon.

Although, I initially took the passive path of reaction at the beginning of the whole imbroglio, but after having watered my emotions with volumes of submissions on the subject matter which has ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous, I came to the humble conclusion of penning down my thought sand sharing my sagacious submission with those who care to join in the quest for justice for the oppressed irrespective of the religion, tribe or gender. It is a collective fight that needs to be reasoned through common sense. No more, no less. “What harm or good do my wearing of hijab have to do with my intellect?” is the question. If your answer is similar to “It doesn’t do me harm or good!” then, proceed to the next paragraph. If not, you have nothing to gain from the right up!

It is no longer news that in Nigeria today, Muslims are at the receiving end of marginalization along religious line. As soon as the colonial masters arrived, the ship of state as been steered away from the soft landing pad of the muslims. From the holidays to the dress codes of some governmental agencies, to the administrative timetables to even the rule of law and ultimately education and schooling, Muslims find it difficult to practice simultaneously their religion alongside being a complete “law abiding” citizen. Facts, not Tales have been told of children in the past who are christened upon gaining admission into school against the wishes of their parents who are muslims by Missionaries that head the schools. Richard Akinjide is a typical example in this. Some retained their religion afterwards e.g Hon Adeleke Adelabu (Penkelemeesi) while some converted totally from their religion i.e Islam e.g Chief Akinloye. Yet, muslims never cried foul and took to arms against this marginalization. The point here is that this has been on for too long!

You might also want to reason along this line too. "Is this the first time she would be using the Hijab in law school?" The answer is an emphatic No! she had used it all her life at the university and at the law school. Why is this one night so special when it is not a cult ritual I want to ask? I leave that question to be answered by those who know more than I do. Or you might want to say "even Buharis daughter commot her scarve, who she be sef?" Yes she might choose to remover her scarve as their is no compulsion in religion. Once the truth has been revealed to you, You have been given the discretion to either take it or leave it. But i so submit! This act of maginalization against muslims is an act ostentatiously aimed at provoking the peaceful nature of muslims. By who, I can’t answer!

Now to answer the question! "Is she the only one?" Yes she is! She is the only one that has the courage to demand what is rightfully hers. She is the only one that can stand firm at the face of adversity and say she is a muslim when the persecution was hottest. Yes! she is the only one that see the word freedom the way it is; to be fought for. Yes she is the only one that remembered it is a great honour to be among the strangers as stated by the prophet long ago that Islam started as a strange thing to people and it would end in that same state-where people practicing the religion would be termed as out of date and vague. The prophet concluded and gave glad tidings to the strangers. Yes she is the only one with the smile of a queen and the heart of a lion, glittering shine and the power to protect her territory. Yes she is! Yes she is a muslim ready to make a difference and liberate others like her that have the courage to mumble that same wish within their heart but with voice not too loud to be heard. Yes she is an icon that needs your prayers, support, solidarity to get what is hers as a to be lawyer and others that would come after her. Yes she is the only one. Yes she is the only that has said that enough is enough of the malignant hatred against Islam and Muslims. She is and she has said that she is a Muslimah, and they should be judged not by what they wear but by what they can offer.

Enough of this brouhaha and let it be told to the heavens that #she is the only one.....

Let it trend!

105 Days Later....... By Ashraf Akintola

When the wind blows away the roof of a carpenter
Or scurries with a striker’s _penalty to throwing_
Or undo the fabrics of a model
There and then, the world has seen
The end of such an enterprise
It may look Jujuish, hypnotizing and befuddling
How imbued with love for a man Millions would be
We knew we haven’t reached as a nation, mountain Olympus to say Eureka,
We knew we were in deep Political Ballyhoo
Economic Ebola
and Social Hubble-bubble
covered with Boko Haramic Miasma.
Yet God shamed the jejune antics of the opposition
With the resounding welcome
The Sick Nation gave to her ailing leader
Despite numerous pontifications of FFK,
Diarrheic tongue of Fayose,
And the uncouth utterances of the Igbos
Baba’s Stoicism and integrity makes him A dear to all and sundry
A man you would like to like
A General you'd Love to love
A man with little words but deafening body language
That made the world believe,
What you’ve forgotten, others would never know,
What you’ve lived, others would read about,
What you can do, others can only dream about
As that comes only with experience, knowledge and wisdom
Baba, we hold our trust in God, but we believe in you!

Literature / The World At Last Became Dumb.....kudos To Trump by ash1akintola(m): 12:19pm On Nov 11, 2016
Thump the drum, for Trump has triumphed
An exemplary incendiary withstanding all storms
Unabashedly demagogue for they say he talks without reason
Now it became clear he is now the man of the season

Across all borders, he’s known- a rabble-rouser
His mission was clear; to defeat the Democrat’s poser
And yes! He has distinguished skirts from trousers
It takes a man to be charged a BILL and still remain HILARY (ious)

Now comes the time Nigerians stick to the REPUBLIC if we CAN
America though isn’t paradise, Dangote made it where I am
All I wish for is ease for us wherever we are
For either we like it or not, the world is in Trump’s era

A TRUMPet again for the whole Ummah,
Never was America in history nice to beard or the Musimah
The dream has always remained the same, you can also infer
Despite the odds, Islam keeps getting stronger.

Glad tidings to that someone, a total stranger
Who neither wanes in faith, from fitnah always capper
Tribulations; the prophet said; never makes him sadder
In ease, thanks were his waters And in trials; his patience never taper.
*For together i say we can be great again!*

Politics / Nigeria, Nigerians And The Buhariyah Syndrome : Oloyede Should Be Freed by ash1akintola(m): 2:17pm On Aug 03, 2016
I was woken from my slumber last night when I heard that our darling former Vice chancellor of the better by far University has been made the new Jamb boss. Alhamdulillah! I shouted, knowing fully well the antecedents of the astute disciplinarian. Not just because his legacy of ‘’it must be done’’ and commitment to service, but also because- which I would be forever thankful for- of his doggedness in seeing to the fact that Unilorin doesn’t go on strike and has always been so. His policies see to it that the University of Ilorin stands tall in the league of universities in Nigerian and even in the whole of Africa in terms of innovation and other stuffs that are the envy of all other educational institutions. All these are not just to brag about a product of my alma mata but a proof to the fact that during his era, Unilorin became the oba awon university- the king of all Universities. Actually I am definitely and grossly unqualified to start eulogizing the Islamic scholar as other Ogas at the top have justifiably done so. My aim, I think at this juncture should be revealed from the quiver I have kept them. And as I dole out the pin pointed arrows, never desist in cutting me short of my points if they are off the grid.

In my little experience in life, history if I am not wrong, do and always repeats itself. And as OBJ had said, ‘’we never learn from it’’. I wouldn’t consider that as anything related to time travel for everything that would or has been done had already been done in times past.

Football, as foolish, easy or complex as it seems, depending on how you view the round leather game teaches a lot of lessons. But as unarguably the most popular game in the world, many fail to learn indelible lessons that lie
therein. In order to catch your attention and be poignant in my assertions, the just concluded Euro 2016 finals that was held in France is a match that I and many amongst football lovers would not forget so soon. In the finals, the world echoed with the call of Christiano Ronaldo’s name as the savior of the almighty Portuguese team. He is fit, capable, hot, skillful, and no doubt the right man, by human standard, fit to collect both the golden boot and the championship trophy. No sign of fatigue was recorded during his training sessions with his team mates and even the France national team were shivering to their spines with the presence of Ronaldo on the portugal team. Fans worshipped him, haters respected him and even his arch rival, Lionel messi I know, would have no option than to wish him well. The match started as envisaged and our almighty Ronaldo was nowhere to be found in most of the twenty minutes he spent on the field. Finally the ball came to him and all the fans in the stadium I know would have whispered in their hearts, ‘’the champ is on’’. With a slight tackle from Payet who GOD had used in rewarding those that payeth attention to the fact that he, the God of the universe, is the only omnipotent, Monsieur Ronaldo was left limping all around the field. After few minutes of struggle, he had no option than to give up and be carried off the pitch. What a pity! All the hopes of Portugal winning the trophy and Ronaldo’s fans seeing him destroy France went off with just a minor tackle. Although they later won the tournament, but it was all without Ronaldo!

I am sure the world would not forget so soon our own Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, popularly known as MKO, who Nigerians and even the world believed
would be the ultimate saviour of Nigeria during those harsh and perilous times. Despite the fact that I was still young when the whole imbroglio was hot, yet I
met, was told and read how phantasmagoric the polity was in a country of many hopes. In fact, if anything had happened to Abiola before the election, Africa would have stood still for decades! He, by general consensus won the election and the world expected him to take over the mantle and be the messiah we have all expected in Nigeria. But Alas! The then richest man in Africa died a bondsman. Rumours had it that he died a slow death from poisoned tea. He couldn’t take Nigeria to the promise land. What a heartbreaker!

Dear reader, Yorubas have it in one of their sayings that ‘’epo epa lojo posi eliri’’ - the shell of the groundnut hold no resemblance than the coffin of ELiri (an insect) - forgive my translation. I would continue to draw examples from the political history of Nigeria and those referred to as being its messiah. I would remember vividly the comment made by a British journalist in a documentary titled, ‘’The real story of Nigeria-(green passport)” during queen Elizabeth’s visit to Nigeria. He reportedly tagged Nigeria the hope of Africa as that was the general feeling of the world to us, for he said:
‘’great hopes are centered on this new Nigerian leadership. Nigeria, a country as big as Pakistan is rapidly becoming self governing, many expected to become the foremost Negro state of the continent’’

Unfortunately, that’s not what happened!

Arisekola Alao – for the examples wouldn’t stop-the Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land and the former vice president of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, was no doubt a great philanthropist. A father to many and a succor to uncountable. Many had regarded him as their saviour as without Aare, as he was fondly called in their issue, the matter remains unsolved. He was instrumental to installing governors and removing some. He
was powerful and influential, but in the end, he died even without getting sick of a major ailment. Many thought they wouldn’t survive, as a day without paying homage at his residence meant hunger and starvation. Alas these same people are still alive, hale and hearty today.

Maybe you haven’t gotten the gist. Now I am coming out clear. Whoever it might be; From Ronaldo to Abiola and Arishekola, none holds the qualification of being taken as a savior in the midst of calamities for God despises such thought. I am a lover of Sai Baba to be candid and factual. To be precise, I am also not a pessimist. As a writer had said – as i paraphrase- that sustaining a wound requires going through hardship and pains for it to be cured. Hoarding or keeping it to yourself wouldn’t heal it. You need to be taken through a ‘’heat therapy’’. He buttressed his assertions about this era as one going through such unbearable but necessary therapy for it had sustained greatly deep
wound over the years, to which I would agree. But come to think of it, Human beings who were created to be impatient and hasty in our attitudes to occurrences are naturally prone to complain when things are not going their way. To confess, on a personal note e no easy at all at all, for the rise of dollar go surpass mountain Everest. I would, without mincing words base my assertions on the current hardship we have found ourselves in the loss of trust in the almighty, who holds the affairs of man in his hands. In a very authentic hadith (Qudsi) of the prophet where Allah says:
“the son of Adam offends me. He curses time. For I am time. For in my hands are the night and day.’’

We accept and reject things based on the way we see fit forgetting the fact that we are nothing but pencils in the hand of the creator. Man tends to forget that it is Allah that can make or mar situations. He doesn’t care what you think about a person or what you might seem right. He is our overall creator. So in case you want to eulogize Prof. Oloyede as the messiah of Jamb, always remember that it was Allah that took away Yaradua from our Midst without Amnesty and he is the one that subdued Abacha despite his ill gotten fortune as he had done with the pharaos of the past. So if you love Oloyode that much and you don’t want to kill him so early, pray he delivers don’t say he is the deliverer.
Pray for him, don’t pray to him!

"O! I saw the crescent" The man had said! Isn't it just of recent- That shaytan had fled? Our countenance has been decent, Even the poor were Fed. Jannah remained our intent, On forgiveness we bend.

Just like am sure for you to know- That verily, each year it must come and go, The previous never again to occur to any soul, We, for what we do therein has been sown, We would reap the fruit as soon as it grows.

The month on blessings, of Allah to reflect, A time of tellings, from the old to effect, To Allah our pourings of the heart to perfect, For destinies are changing, in a night of respect.

Hear it from me,never wanted it to be over, Bilal should pull his cord, others turning to cyril stober And proclaim to the world that Muslims all over are sober. For the next I pray, plus decades and another.
And my request i'm sure would be in express folders.

Literature / Tangle With The Butterfly........ A Short Story About Life by ash1akintola(m): 9:17pm On Jun 24, 2016
A tangle with the butterfly

Taking a cue from the previous writing of my oga, Fadhilat Sheikh Kehinde Mahroof, I have been able to concoct this article. You can roll with me.

I have been to the world of ducklings where the mother follows her children. I have threaded the perverse jungle where parrot watches with indignation. I was in attendance the day the local bata drummer rendered his song with sonorous melody while in deep action. Not only did he receive applauds, but was given an award for his eloquence and composure with the beat of his drum. I sat and saw, with my korokoro eyes, with amazement the day Loxondata africana taught the monkey how to scramble among trees that dwarfs iroko. Not only was it done with dexterity, even the trees stood still in their shock with its Olympic standard acrobatic skills as it trumpets along. I was one of the chairmen of the day when Rana sp., yes, the frog was crowned for his gift of garb. My backyard was the venue of the race that saw tortoise emerge the fastest animal alive. Even the cheetah couldnt believe his eyes. The firmaments would bear me witness that I saw the whale walk across the deserts without breaking even a sweat. The Sahara deserts to be precise. That same day was the first day I saw rats dining amicably with cats and monkeys strolling amorously with tigers. My eyes couldnt believe what it saw when the lion was shaking hands with the antelope and the snail competing confidently with the lizard on push-up contest.

Oh, the scene was a beauty to behold! My mind, as my engineer, has constructed countless mind-boggling scenes dressed in expensive suits of imagery. And I have not, for once, deprived him his dividend of his hard work. I have been paying him his wages for his amazing products that people sometime, if not often, give kudos to. This is because I am not an ingrate. He, however, disappointed me for not letting me be in the know that labalábaʹ shubuʹ làlàbá in a popular word language: butterfly having head-on collision with a full grown man, that my people, Yoruba; use in an idiomatic expression or rather a tongue ʹtwister, can really and truly be really true.

‘’It sounds strange to you, right? Look, my people, Àì d'ẹ̀gbẹ́ jìnà làì rí abuké ọ̀kẹ́rẹ́. B'éèyàn bá dẹ odò jìnà, yí ò rí ẹja tó y'arọ (If one stops being a lazy hunter in shrubs around the homestead and ford forests where brave hunters dare, he'll encounter a hunchback squirrel. Whoever embarks on an offshore fishery will sight a lame fish.) Come with me. Today, it seems I woke up from the wrong side of the bed. The eighteenth girl I professed my love to just said no! Although, that is another story for another day.

My sister had told me categorically on a fateful Sunday that I had a faulty memory. It sounded strange to me, as the best student in all classes all through my life till senior secondary school exams. So brilliant I was that I represented my school in all competitions, including food competitions. Her assertions shocked me to the marrow until she spoke her mind and told me its only awful experiences I remember vividly. My nerves calmed down as I was about giving her a deafening slap. Sure it was, as I admitted in my mind. A testimony to what I am about to share with you.

Being the best student, I was picked to represent my school, in a tough and competitive competition organized by one of the multinational companies that love mathematics. Saturday, the day of the exams, was a day my body is conditioned to rest a while after my morning prayers. This would be followed immediately by my household chores which includes trekking close to a kilometer to fetch water for domestic use; a routine that takes three to four trips.

My innocent and thoughtful mind skipped the part that it still has an hour and half drive plus thirty minutes trek to make in order to get to school before making another one hour sojourn to the venue of the exams which starts by 9:00am.

Still hungry and un-bathed at 7:00am, my slumbering soul was put in forward gear when the scream of my sister threw the house in commotion. Brooooooother Aaaaashraf!, She yelled. Arent you supposed to be in school by now? It was at that point that the voice of my principal rang in my head; You must be in school by 7:00am. A command to which I answered yes.

Trusting the authenticity of my faulty memory, I got to school safely around 8:00am with all my running, tumbling and all sorts of skills too dangerous for the gymnastics Olympics. It was then I put my golden medal in athletics in primary school to use. Oh! I was so superb!

On getting to school, I was told my oga and other colleague had left 30 minutes back. Where did they go?, was my question, knowing fully well that the centers for writing the exams were many. Trusting my guts, headed back through the route I took when coming to school to a centre I thought would be the venue. On getting there; I mean by trekking and running, I met them assembling the students into the classes. To my amazement, I was told the center was for the junior section! Flabbergasted, hungry and tired, I was thrown into a state of psychological quagmire, emotional stupor and intellectual phantasmagoria. Oh! I am dead already! My principal would kill me with every weapon he has.

Cutting the long story short, I finally got to my center when everybody else was halfway through. No matter how genius I was, I believed I cant score 50% of the score. If I scored 49%, I would have with all my powers sued Cowbell to the court of law for a crime I havent found a name for. So perplexing was my mood that all my focus was on the milk they would distribute after the exams. A beverage I later did acute justice to, knowing fully well what I was into.

Fast forward to Monday, my principal was fully briefed on how rascally and puckish I was. It was surely my judgment day. As I had predicted, I was summoned to the front of the assembly, this time not to receive applause, but to feel how painful it was not to win. I knew my enemies would be happy with what was about to happen.

During the course of his usual school address, a boy of my height and complexion, who would later be my hero and savior interrupted his speech from the normal murmur that characterizes boys only school. Visibly angry, he ordered him out and commanded that six different canes of different sizes and beating intensities be brought out. My heart literarily ran out of my body. But I kept my faith that I am not going to be beaten.

Just like the Quran records the alleged crucifixion of Christ, the boy was beaten severely more than he imagined or envisaged as the atonement for his crime. Little did he know that the principal thought it was me he was thrashing heavily. I could remember the boy looking at the principal in the face and thinking that wetin I do to deserve this. Even the teachers couldnt understand what was happening as I was standing on one side of the stage, gazing as a spectator in my own game.

After the cane massacre, for it was nothing short of that, he ordered the rendering of the school anthem; a signifier of discharge from the assembly to our respective classes. As tense as the assembly was, for my crimes and sentence had been pronounced earlier on, no one could say, Sir, you havent beaten the culprit, an evident pointer that I was loved by majority of the students and teacher. They couldnt bear seeing their super star in pains.

Everyone looked at me in amazement and wondered what prayers I said to save me from the ululation. Although I couldnt recognize the face of my savior, I later learnt lessons from life that day.

You might think yourself being strong, powerful, brilliant, articulate, overbearing, patient and sublime, life can throw a small challenge at you and you would fail woefully. A small obstruction to your pathway might bring you down no matter how experienced or grown up you are. You waste scarce resources you have and you end up being punished for your recklessness by life itself. Had it been that Alaba, the grown up man in the Yoruba idiom had remained calm with what the butterfly had done, he wouldn’t have wasted his energy so much so, for the tongue twister later stated that làlàbaʹ baʹ la laʹbàraʹ, (Alaba gave the butterfly a heavy slap meant not for the cheeks, but the back).

Idiomatic as it seems, before even Alaba could lift his hands, the butterfly could have gone. Energy wasted on the side of Alaba and mission achieved; butterfly.

I was confident, brilliant, and outstanding, but my immature nature of the dynamics of life; that it cant be the same method all the time and that you would be taken out of your comfort zone whenever life wills, was oblivious of me. Sometimes you would be informed of its advances, sometimes, you wont. It takes two to tangle, so it expects you to be prepared.

I later won accolades for my school and applause for myself, stories abound therein too, but the principal still believed deep inside him that I was punished for a sin I mistakenly committed. Yes, we later dined and wined together to the extent that he linked his name to mine.

Although, I was saved by an innocent boy though, I used that as an opportunity to bounce back, even if I was punished, I wouldnt have let it bring down my spirit of scholarship. Life was never meant to be a bed of roses. Even if it were, roses too do have thorns.

In every situation you find yourself, there is always a saviour for you. I hid away from the glare of my principal after I was suumoned up and this prevented me from being seen even before, during and after the thrashing. In life, your savior is somewhere around the corner, position yourself well and prevent yourself from avoidable sufferings and disgrace of life as it can come in any direction.

Life is a race, run, tumble, summersault and do everything in your capacity to reach your goal, God is watching you and he is not going to let your acts go unrewarded.

ˋIRˋAWE´ (THE FALLEN LEAF)
Irawe!
The futility in life and of life,
Limits without boundary,
An irony in itself, An encapsulation of doubts,
Tandem to normal thoughts.

Irawe! The fallen leaf……..
I thought you were long gone,
A closure to the memories we both share,
Forever, I thought you had left,
Leaving me with the miseries of life,
An unending pursuit of different climes.

Irawe!
It is you I beckon, I looked at life,
Got bored and envision death,
Oh No! I want to live forever,
Despiced with both, I took residence in-between,
Alas! I saw a resemblance,

Irawe!
I was told we cried the day, here we came,
Afraid of what to meet, Our going I learnt remains the same,
Oblivious of what is in the six feet.

Irawe!
I forgot you were there,
When our mother, to the sweet fruits bear,
Actively running all the errands,
From Uncle Sun you surely collect,
All ingredients for food to eat.

Irawe!
Life was never a prostitute,
A Hawker surprisingly it was.
You might think it’s without destination,
It has a home, away from destitution.
It comes to you with the same ware,
What’s with you is what your neighbour wear.

Irawe!
The game of life remains unchanged,
The players themselves are the ones that got changed.
To us you supplied all the vigour to survive,
Even at death, you did nothing short of that.

Irawe!
The fallen leaf,
I know you keep to your words,
With our cousin earth you struck your accord,
Tearfully, we danced to your tunes,
Unrepentantly, you mixed with her,
Our hands tilling the land saying goodbye.

Irawe!
Despite that you sprung back forth,
Like a phoenix that rose from the ashes,
Those like you are called manure,
For to us, development you lure.

Irawe!
Oh, now I know!
Death was a lesson,
Life, a blessing.
Your goodness to us afterwards became to you a benefit,
Your wickedness would have surely been a deficit.
Whatever it is that I have become,
I surely know that another ending have begun.

Career / Re: Where Can A Zoologist Or Parasitologist Work In Nigeria?(HELP) by ash1akintola(m): 7:05pm On Mar 21, 2016
Not just Zoology but other courses that are irrelevant to solving naijas problem is use less. I applied for medicine, Despite scoring more than the cut off, I was given Zoology too. No juju can my dear make me go and do my masters in the same field as of now except I get guaranty for lecturing now. Its just that one should open his eyes and see opportunity wherever it is. It is not a matter of what u read. It is a matter of what u can offer and who you know. May God help us all that are in this condition.
Business / Rolling Dollar by ash1akintola(m): 7:15pm On Feb 24, 2016
Please let me explain to those of us who don't understand Economic terms. Dollar has not increased since Buhari became president 1. Dollar is not our currency so dollar should not be our business 2. Our problem is not d government but our problem is our importers and consumers 3. Naira has remained at 197 naira to 1 dollar since Buhari became president 4. Buhari has promised not to devalue the Naira and he has maintained that promise 5. Both at CBN and at interbank rates, dollar has remained 197 6. However because we are too lazy to produce what we use in Nigeria we import even toothpicks and matches 7. Buhari does not like d importation of luxury goods because luxury goods is d reason for most corruption, that is why he banned 41 products from having access to forex 8. However when Nigerian importers insisted on importing those 41 products, FG asked them to find their dollar at d BDCs parallel market also known as black market 9. And to discourage the pressure Nigerians are mounting on the Naira just to get dollars for importation, CBN banned DMBs from selling dollars to BDCs 10. To survive the pressure of excess dollar demands, BDCs resorted to sourcing for dollars from neighbouring countries through illicit money laundering routes 11. Because of the risks faced by BDCs to source for dollars, and because of the increase in demand for dollars by importers because China just resumed from their business holidays, BDCs keep increasing the price at which they exchange dollars to naira and now it is 400 naira to 1 dollars 12. However that does not mean that govt has changed the exchange rate because if our genuine importers go to CBN and fill Form M to import raw materials for local production, they will get dollars at 197 naira each 13. So the problem is that we love to consume luxury foreign products yet we are too lazy to manufacture them here. 14. For example u will see a dull girl using iPhone 5 without even knowing simple physics and computer engineering part of how that phone was produced 15. I want Buhari to ban every foreign product from Nigeria until Nigerians learn to produce and use Made in Nigeria products 16. Let us stop complaining about dollar as if dollar has become Nigeria's currency 17. It is even bad enough that most of those complaining about the high exchange rate of dollar do not have 1 single dollar in their purse, some av not even seen the so called dollar b4

I wonder how someone who doesn't know anything about Islam can sit down and tell me Hijab is a borrowed culture from the Arabs against sand and storm. Derided of reasoning is he or she that can't see the importance attached to Hijab for a Muslim women. Why on earth would she go about naked on the street because of what the world says about her. Wailing wailers should continue their cries or better still borrow mb to Google out the role of Hijab to women

RE: RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISTS INVADE UNILORIN. ‘NO, THEY ARE MERE MUSLIM YOUTHS’
It is surprising, that a nation currently undergoing security challenges such as insurgency, kidnapping, militancy and the likes can be hurt from an intentional attempt to steer commotion by a supposedly guided, but misguided section of our nation. At a time like this when every government and non-governmental establishments are on red alert due to their safety, nothing should be the role of every responsible and conscious citizen of our beloved country than to help them in that regard.
University of Ilorin is a well- known institution that gives zero tolerance to acts ranging from cultism, thuggery, immorality and insecurity among other forms of anti-social vices. Not only that, it has been playing a pivotal role in maintaining that every sections in the school is safe. Starting for the entrance of the school, that is few kilometers from the main school area, you would be subjected to a thorough search that doesn’t exclude your vehicle. Not only that, you would also identify yourself with a valid identity card which is your visa into the school compound. Mind you, the security alertness doesn’t only stop at that as you would constantly be under the watchful eyes of security personnel, both in uniform and mufti.
It is however dumbfounding and uncalled for, that a scrupulous microscopic part of the whole entity of Nigeria, who because of his/her personal interest in causing commotion can put pen to paper and write malicious information about the better by far university that has been the envy of all due to its excellence in all facets of academic and moral endeavors. Identified as ‘’Biola Azeez’’, he/she wrote in the Sunday, 20th of July, 2014 edition of the Nigerian tribune that: ‘’RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISTS INVADE UNILORIN.’NO, THEY ARE MERE MUSLIM YOUTHS’’. Nothing can justify this lackadaisical attitude than the fact that whoever he/she is, his/her intention is to disrupt the peaceful coexistence that is being enjoyed by adherents of both Islam and Christianity in the university and the country at large. Apart from the fact that the university has an interreligious council that takes care of all affairs that affects faithful of both religions, it has made sure that the dress codes, as stipulated by any religion is practiced by its adherents without molestation, as no religion supports lewd and immoral dressing. This is just to mention a few.
An act that can be judged as the peak of treason and conspiracy one does against his/ her country is exemplified in the contents of the said write-up as it is based on erroneous investigation. Therein, he /she quoted the chief imam of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdul Ganiyy Oladosu on inquiry from him/her that he is not aware of such development. The imam, who was utterly surprised on hearing the new development blatantly refuted the claim has he said, no one has asked him about things like that.
Furthermore, he/she proceeded in launching an offensive attack on the image of the Muslim students’ society of Nigeria, Unilorin branch whose headquarters is situated inside the only central mosque in the school by stating that membership are been called for therein. Just a visit to the central mosque would convince the doubting Thomas that the Muslim students association that is being castigated preaches nothing but the pristine Islam that is being sent by Allah through the prophet (S.A.W). It is therefore pertinent to note that M.S.S.N doesn’t fraternize, for all Muslim students on campus are automatic members of the society.
On the issue of cutting of trousers and forbidding taking pictures, the writer, who succeeded in painting the picture the bad way as that has been the norms of some journalists against the doctrines of Islam, should be aware that it is the tradition of the prophet that the trousers of the male should not exceed the ankles. Nobody can refute that fact as it has been so since the advent of Islam. Same thing applies to the taking of pictures as scholars of Islam frown against that act. Meanwhile, the picture in question is that of human beings.
However, if the so called writer doesn’t know the meaning of fundamentalism, he/she might get the 7th edition of the oxford advanced learners dictionary which puts the meaning as: ‘’the practice of following very strictly, the basic rules and teachings of any religion’’. A person with the right control of English grammar would not dispute the fact that, according to the definition of fundamentalism that, one who refrains from the practice of fundamental principles of any religion, is out of such religion. Your being a Muslim is however the practice of its fundamental principle. There is a distinct difference between insurgency and fundamentalism. I hope the writer gets that well.
In conclusion, the general public should be aware of people like Biola Azeez, as they are agents of destruction who find joy in disrupting the peaceful coexistence of any setting. This however states that the accusation leveled against the school, the Muslim community and Muslim Students Society on campus is baseless and can lead to a fracas among innocent people if the information gets into wrong hands. We are Muslims and we preach peace, so that our nation that is bound in freedom, peace and unity would not be divided because of the personal propagation of a propaganda that can lead to a lot of brouhaha.

Thank you
