Christianity EtcRe: Nigerian Media: Truth Versus Reality, About The Kiling Of A Christian by ashson(op): 1:09am On Jul 25, 2016
A pastor chained a nine year old boy in a church.

I am a Muslim and I know his action does not represent Christianity. It's against d teachings of Christianity.

So I will rather attack the character of the pastor alone
not Christianity.

This is d injustice people do to Islam, a Muslim will do something devilish and the religion of islam will be attacked.

Blame only the action of the Muslim (in person) not Islam, he represents himself not Islam.

We Muslims are not perfect but Islam is perfect. I call upon the media to redefine the concept of terrorism and remove the word Islamic from anything that has to do with terrorism.

Nigerian Media: Truth versus Reality

In the past few days, the hearts of genuine citizens of our great nation have bled over the news of the killing of a female Christian preacher by alleged Muslim fanatics in Kubwa area of the FCT, Abuja.

I was actually alerted by a friend's ext message because although i reside in the affected area, i was far away in Ibadan, Oyo State, as at the time of the incident.

As an average concerned Nigerian, i thought, when will this nation be free from religious and ethnic crises? But as a journalist and one with eye for investigation, i knew i had a duty at hand.

So, on my return to the city, i visited the particular street, the particular spot, conducted personal investigation and secret interviews, and made several findings. I became sad! Why? Most of the information doled out by our media are NOT TRUE!

For the avoidance of doubt, there was no evidence of anyone present when the woman died. Witnesses only said they met her dead.

Secondly, i did not find anyone to confirm that any part of the woman was missing or mutilated. I talked with one who saw the corpse early that morning, with two policemen, before the news went viral.

Thirdly, there was no mosque in that street or behind the spot. Fourthly, the vicinity had been under the torment of cultism in the past few months, in fact, two separate persons were found killed and dumped in the area recently, one of them on the street adjacent this particular one.

The police is actually on the trail of s notorious cult who is believed to have sneaked into and hiding in the area. The police is insisting that they met the corpse body intact.

But, alas! What my colleagues wrote were terrifying. In fact, it revived hatred, instigated religious intolerance and personal mistrust. I am sure many of you journalists who wrote the story were not in Abuja, you just received the news from friends and forwarded to your headquarters, which also did not verify before going to press.

I also know that many of those in Abuja then did not visit the place, nor conduct proper investigation. For an issue as critical as religion and ethnicity, most of you goofed!

The media is an indefatigable player in nation building, and no society is firmly built on negligence and mistrust as being displayed by our journalists.

But, the media houses too are at fault. Most of them pay peanuts for staff while the few at the top swim in affluence. Where, then, is the resource and motivation for the reporter to carry out investigative reporting and due diligence.

To survive, many journalists are pipers in the hands of politicians, religious leaders and businessmen and even government, who dictate their tune. Yet, the masses are at the receiving end because they naturally hold on to the news from the media.

It is a hell a times, to change the people's perception on issues, over which our media had made serious blunders. I had had to show identity cards to some, before they agree to reason along the right perspective. The corruption on the media is much, but our colleagues can just help hold on to the truth.

President Buhari is one Year in Office

When I voted for Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 elections, I wasn't expecting a miracle. I wasn't expecting that all our aged-long problems would disappear within a year or two.

I simply wanted an honest President; a committed and sincere president. A president I can trust with my life and those of other Nigerians.

I wasn't looking for someone who had solutions to all our problems, but a president who was determined, who was ready to sacrifice anything and everything to find solutions for all our problems.

As I watched Mr. President delivered his address this morning, I felt assured; reassured that I found that President in Muhammadu Buhari.

But I also felt ashamed, so ashamed. Ashamed that Muhammadu Buhari, a 74 year old accomplished gentleman, is sacrificing his health for mine. He's sacrificing his comfort for mine. He's sacrificing his today for my tomorrow. His everything for my something.

With a heavy heart, I extend my apology sir. I'm so sorry sir. That at this moment of your life, when you should be at the comfort of your retirement, we had to forcefully pull you out to come and solve the problems we created for ourselves.

Dear God! Bless our President; our true Baba, with the health, the wisdom, the strength and the courage to successfully discharge the great responsibilities you placed on his shoulders

PoliticsWhy Do We Suffer Fuel Scarcity In Nigeria? The Answer... by ashson(op): 12:13pm On May 13, 2016
WHY DO WE SUFFER FUEL SCARCITY IN NIGERIA?

1. We do not have enough refineries to satisfy our domestic need, so we depend on fuel importation

2. Fuel is bought at the international market with US dollars and importers need USD to buy and import fuel

3. There is variability up to N121 bewteen the official USD exchange rate and the parallel market rate in Nigeria.

4. The government determines the price for fuel because the CBN is the only source of US Dollars for Marketers who import fuel.

5. If marketers source for dollars themselves, they cannot sell the product at the government price because of the N121 difference.

6. When the CBN gives US dollars to importers to buy fuel and import, they opt to selling the US dollars in the parallel market since they will make more profit, say about 50 times more than buying fuel and importing.

7. Most of the few marketers and dealers who use the dollars they got from CBN to buy fuel and import, divert the fuel to neighbouring countries like Chad and Benin Republic etc because fuel costs more in these countries since their Petroleum Market is free, and they will sell at a higher price and make more gains.

8. The CBN as a result of over 60% decrease in the price of crude leading to a reduced foreign reserve cannot afford to give enough dollars to marketers and dealers to import enough quantity of fuel for domestic consumption in the midst of all the leakages

9. These factors combined with a few others always lead to a shortage in the quantity of fuel that will satisfy Nigerian domestic consumption.

WHAT HAS THE MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM DONE?

1. Stopped the CBN from giving USD to marketers and dealers and gave them freedom to source for foreign exchange in the parallel market

2. Allowed the pump price of fuel to reflect the international price of fuel using the foreign exchange at the parallel market

3. Given all marketers and dealers the right to buy and import fuel while sourcing for foreign exchange from the parallel market

WHAT WILL BE THE IMPACT OF THIS?

1. Marketers and dealers can no longer collect dollars from CBN and sell at the parallel market instead of importing fuel and then causing fuel shortage

2. Marketers and dealers can no longer divert fuel to Chad, Benin and other neighbouring countries since they will not make extra profit in doing so

3. Everyone can now buy fuel and import. There are no more cabals in the Petroleum industry. Anyone can join and do business.

4. More fuel will be brought to Nigeria and there will be competition among marketers that fuel stations will be begging and giving incentives to customers to buy their fuel

5. Competition will drive down the price of fuel as seen in the case of diesel.

6. Government will use its
resources and time to develop infrastructure.

This is the choice we have to make now that we have a Government that we can entrust our resources to and go to sleep.

President Muhammadu Buhari has shown a high level of uprightness, prudence, determination to kill corruption and develop Nigeria.

Let us support him...

BANNING FUEL VENDORS: A RIGHT STEEP AT THE VERY WRONG TIME
By Yusuf Idris Amoke.

Dear Governor Elrufai,

I hope this letter reaches you in the best of times, hoping and praying that the task of governing more than 8million people of Kaduna state from different social-political, religious and ethnic background is not a too much burden on you to carry. One can only but imagine the stress, pressure and at times difficulties you face in taking certain decisions; some are so complicated to conceive while others are very harsh but necessary.

During the campaigns for the 2015 elections, everyone new you were the man needed to reclaim the lost glory of Kaduna state- a glory lost to wrong visionless leaders manning the leadership of the state over time. People so much believed in you, most especially seeing how you strategically and fearlessly handled Abuja during your stay as the minister. I so much admire you too, and wish to be like you when it comes to leadership.

However, being human that you are, perfection which is a place for our creator is far from you; but striving for perfection is a duty upon all leaders including you. This near perfection can only be achieved when emotional intelligence is deployed in every policy, action and inaction a leader takes. This intelligence is needed to understand just the how, where and when policies are to be implemented.

In my view, the decision to stop the selling of fuel in jerrycans by roadside fuel vendors is a very welcome development but wrongly timed, because of the acute scarcity we are faced with. It is the scarcity that gave birth to the attention these vendors attract today. When there is no scarcity, you will agree with me that they nearly don't even exist.

I want to believe that most if not all of the people who were in the security meeting that endorsed this policy do not understand what it takes to join queue hustling for fuel. If you had known what it takes to get fuel from filling stations, I doubt much if you will agree to this policy at this time of the day.

A leader who was chosen by a people who were sometimes ago hysterical and subjected to untold hardship would not deliberately add to their hardship if he can not improve it. This policy with due respect sir, is a very wrong one, considering the timing.

In Kaduna today, fuel is sold 500 Naira per liter, maybe it will be 700 or 1000 Naira tomorrow, only God knows. Barbing salons, welder's shops, viewing centers and all other small scale businesses are forced to close shops because of this single policy. Commercial vehicles are now scarce, while the little available are so expensive. Paying 100 Naira from Kasuwa to Kawo as against 50 Naira is a clear indicator that your people are in a very bad situation as a result of your action.

The fuel scarcity all over the nation has been biting so hard on your people, despite that, they still remain resolute in supporting both your government and that of President Muhammadu Buhari. So what we are expected of you as a leader is to look outside the box to help ease the situation on us, not to compound it.

Sir in my opinion, you should suspend this policy until we are off scarcity regime then you implement it. By so doing, everyone will be used to the system of not buying from road site fuel vendors.

I meant no disrespect, but only trying to bring to your notice the feelings of your people that those close by you rarely bring to your know.

PoliticsSenator Bola Ahmed Tinibu Is The Man by ashson(op): 11:06am On Nov 21, 2015
In 1999, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected Governor of Lagos State. His then party, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) produced all the governors of the South West.

By 2003, Tinubu was the onl y governor left in the AD. He was under pressure to decamp but he stayed. He built the party and it became stronger.

For the eight years that he ruled Lagos, he hired several guys to work with him. I think he carefully picked them. Apart from using them to work in his government, he also groomed them for the future.

Eight years down the line, see where those Tinubu guys are today -

1. Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN was Tinubu's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He is today, Nigeria's Vice President.

2. Rauf Aregbesola was Tinubu's Commissioner for Works. Today he is serving his second tenure as Governor of Osun State.

3. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN was Tinubu's Chief of Staff and successor in office. He is today Nigeria's Minister of Power, Works and Housing.

4. Alhaji Lai Mohammed was Tinubu's first Chief of Staff. He is today, Nigeria's Minister of Information.

5. Babatunde Fowler was appointed by Tinubu as Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service. Today, he is the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.

At the National Assembly, there are countless "Tinubu boys" who have occupied and are still occupying seats till today.

Since 1999, the Tinubu camp has produced almost 98% of the members of the National Assembly from Lagos State.

Forget politics, this man is a political enigma.

Rewind to 1999, I am sure most of us have forgotten the names of the People who were elected Governors then. Some of them have gone out of circulation. Some are gasping for breath politically. Indeed, most of them are no longer relevant today.

Who still remembers Mbadinuju of Anambra State, Jolly Nyame of Taraba, Mohammed Lawal of Kwara, Segun Osoba of Ogun, Attahiru Bafarawa of Sokoto, Achike Udenwa of Imo, Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom, Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia? That one has lost two consecutive senatorial elections.

But Tinubu has not only managed to remain extremely relevant, he has continued to control Lagos politics 100%. Not only that, he manages to carry his boys along and today they occupy critical positions in our national life.

Take it or leave it, Tinubu is today, Nigeria's most powerful politician. It didn't just happen by chance. He worked very hard for it. Very very hard.

The hallmark of a true leader is not just the ability to rule well but also the ability to nurture and groom his associates.

Oga Tinubu, TUALE SIR!!
