PoliticsIran's Nuclear Programme Is Like A Train Without Brake And Reverse Gear by asoderock(op): 9:41am On Feb 26, 2007
As the war of word between Iran and the US continues over the former's Nuclear programme, Iran has declared that it's Nuclear Programme is unstoppable, likening it to a train without reverse gear and brake.
this follows a hint from Dick Cheney- US VP in Australia that all options, including military action are on the table, to stop Iran.
Do you think Iran is being unfairly treated?
Does Iran truely has the right to Nuclear Technology as it claims?
Or do you think the US threat of military action is realistic, or is it just a pressure tactics?
What do you think will be the effect and cosequence of military action against Iran?
Are American people ready for another war?
Is there still a chance that diplomacy will still resolve the stand off?

Let us know the facts and your opinion.
CultureRe: Speaking Out Against The Bride Price Practice by asoderock(m): 9:35am On Feb 16, 2007
Imagine you are denied the marriage of a girl you truely love and truely loves you, just because you cannot pay the bride price.
The reality is that the imposition of exorbitant bride price has affected our girls in some quarters of Igbo society. Some Men will simply go bancrupt after fullfilling the the items in the "List"some will therefore go for a relatively fair bride price they can afford especially considering the present economic situation in the country.
I think the tradition is outdated and should be abandoned, for it is anti-marriage and anti-social. because the more marriage there are in the society, the more stable will be the society.

Foreign AffairsRe: Israel Plans Nuclear Strike On Iran by asoderock(m): 10:09am On Feb 05, 2007
Point of correction you all Isreali praise singers and war mongers! Iran did not call for Isreal to be wiped out on Earth, but on the map. Iran is suggesting that Isreal be relocated from the middle East because of its oppressing tendencies on her Arab neighbours. Iran is only sympathising with her Palestinian Arab brothers who are being humiliated and prosecuted daily by Isreal.
Please, And please, we have seen enough blood in the region, because such a strike by Isreal will only lead to devastating consequencies.
By the way who gave Isreal the right to nuke but not Iran?
Let us all preach for peaceful resolution of the crises.
PhonesCheap Browsing Using Mobile Phone by asoderock(op): 10:22am On Feb 02, 2007
I have always wanted to be connected to the net wherever i am using my mobile phone at affordable rate, I latter received the GPRS and Wap settings from MYN, but what actually happend is that whithin minutes if not seconds of browsing, my account will be empty irrespective of the previously there, andthat can be painful. So fellow experienced nairalanders;
Is there a cheaper way of browsing with phone?
Does that depend on network?: i use MTN and my phone is Sendo x
Is there any internet based software that can change the story?
I will be very releived to get a positive contribution.

guys like the author of this topic should't be allowed in this forum. this is a guy that has only posted 3, but all he can think of is how to exploit fellow nairalanders for his own selfish interest. If others were acting like him, nairaland would probably not be in existence today. shocked

Foreign AffairsRe: Iran's Consulate Raided In Iraq By The Coalition Troops by asoderock(m): 9:26am On Jan 23, 2007
I thank those of you in this forum who have always stand up for the truth, and in defence of democracy, and who have said no to the hangman's gospel.
The bottom line is that the current agressive US policy is not doing anybody any good, not least the US herself.
You cannot always be right and the rest of the people wrong. A recent opinion poll by the BBC reveals that more than 3/4(75%) of the people worldwide loathe the policy of Bush in Iraq and elsewhere. A similar poll last year show a close result. People's confidence in US as the superpower keeps eroding.
Only 2 days ago, 18 US soldiers were killed and a day after more than 100 Iraqis were sent to early grave, the vicious cycle continues. It touches me as a human each time i see this pictures. This comes despite The US sending more troops to Iraq. Isn't it clear that is not the solution?
If the goal is reducing violence in Iraq, It is clear that the present US policy is not acheiving that. Why not explore alternatives?, why not the US try the popular Iraq study group report which proposes reducing US tyroops and involving neighbours like Iran and Syria.
The American people i know are compassionate, proud and peace loving people, but that image is being rubbished around the world by their President's foriegn policy.
I am certain they(Americans) will pass that message to bush by rejecting his Republican party during the forthcoming 2008 presidential election.
Foreign AffairsRe: Iran's Consulate Raided In Iraq By The Coalition Troops by asoderock(m): 4:25pm On Jan 19, 2007
RE:Based on your statement above it shows clearly your understanding of the issues in Iraq. It is quite clear when you started following world politics or how much information you have read. The existance of Shites and Sunnis (do you know what they are) and the problems thereon have been in existance since "time immemorial". Do you know when the no fly zone was imposed in Iraq even before Bush when Sadam was in authority, the Kurds are what if i may ask you ??

Nobody is disputing the fact that shiites and sunnies or curds existed before now in Iraq. The question is at what relationship. In harmony you may say compared to the present stalemate.
As for the curds, theirs was a case of seperatism. no country happily let go a sessesionist group, even the almighty UK ouldn't for instance let go Nothern Ireland. Remember the curds were sabotaging the efforts of their own country Iraq during the Iraq/Iran war. The imposition of the no fly zone was a strategic one aimed at protecting the northern and southern oil rich Iraq.
My friend let it dawn on you that the whole show has a strategic objectivesadto secure American huge oil consumption at the expense of human life). Otherwise why hadn't they invaded North Korea- a state that was accussused alongside Iraq of trying to develop nuclear weapon(but has now armed itself with one) or Sudan Where genocide is taking place uptill now

Foreign AffairsRe: Iran's Consulate Raided In Iraq By The Coalition Troops by asoderock(m): 10:01am On Jan 19, 2007
RE:Again, a blind argument. The last I know and as reported by the press, it is the Shiite and Sunni militias that are killing themselves in thousands on the street of Baghdad. Is Bush the Commander-in-Chief of these militias too? Is he the one funding them and encouraging them to kill each other based on the differences in their faith? Is George Bush the one who incited the Civil War between prophet Muhammad's immediate family that is manifest in the sectarian violence between the Shiites and the Sunnis today? I think not.

BE informed that Bush should take responsibility for the apparent civil war going on in Iraq. Afterall the existence of shiites and sunnis wasn't known untill Bush's illigal invasion. Bush put shiites and sunnis at each other by initially sacking sunnis from positions of responsibility and replacing them with shiites, thereby initing sectarian division. SO tell me how is he not responsible?
Foreign AffairsRe: Iran's Consulate Raided In Iraq By The Coalition Troops by asoderock(m): 10:37am On Jan 18, 2007
Saddam Hussen killed thousands but Bush killed hundreds of thousands; who is the greater terrorist? people could move freely(secured) in an undemocratic Iraq supervised by Saddam, but people are so afraid of leaving their house(insecured) in democratic Iraq under Bush's supervision. Which is better?. Let's be honest, War solves nothing.
