Ghana though small is by no means inferior most especially not to Nigeria!

This is the stup1d delusion of grandeur other countries speak of about Nigeria.

Smaller it might be but democratically sound it is and far more organised and sane than your clumsy spoilt big for nothing overgrown kid called Nigeria!

Let's call a spade a frigging spade!

chris365:

And do you realize Ghana is like one the smallest states in Nigeria in terms of land mass. Moreover, Nigeria requires airports in all regions including spreading across states in that region etc. Same goes to every developmental projects.

Clearly you do not need to be lectured on all these thing since you feel you've earned the right to criticize your own country over a smaller and inferior Ghana.

That's the problem with most Nigerians like you, too dumb to be logical on reasoning. What a shame undecided

Tufia GI. It is because of politics is those who think they own Nigeria that a mere airport becomes an issue. Go to the US or Brazil you will see many airports and air fields like bread everywhere. Those airports were built by the private sector and local governments. You are not more Nigerian than I am.

Let's fit the right pegs in the right holes please. This is about federal projects here so put each countries at level footing by comparing countries to countries. Stella was responsible for the federal project, not Fashola and since this comparison is with Ghana, face she that was/is responsible.

Sound reasoning.

nuclearboy:
All the threats by the windbag Dokubo are just hot air. Boko Haram achieved what they did because the current president does not have the respect of his Generals, allowed them to steal all the monies meant to inspire the fighting men and make them comfortable. So what did anyone expect? One single battle-hardened battalion from 1 Div has changed the face of the war and BH has again mostly become hit and run. Thats because officers who "enjoyed" the war sent the newbies (poorly armed and with zero coordination) against BH

A Buhari who is revered by the military as the ONLY Man ever to lead Nigeria to war against a foreign country, who practically took over Chad in hours, who will not allow officers steal whats due to his men and who is decisive and clean CANNOT be compared to a GEJ whose generals bought bulletproof vests that couldn't stop stones from a catapult YET who kept quiet because he was afraid of losing support

Eventually, the Asaris will run away or kowtow. Yes, they (Delta militants) will stop Nigeria for 3 weeks but its a cut your nose situation - because they will lose their families, lifestyles, and futures to the environmental devastation of blowing up everything. They will not be welcome anyplace on earth and if you couldn't hide from OBJ, is it GMB you wish to hide from? Their mothers and children will stop them anyway

Its always just been noise. I like the arming though - they have added to Nigeria's stockpiles cheesy because IF Buhari, everyone will be disarmed and that rightly!

Way I see it, what matters is that whoever wins TRULY has Nigeria behind him like Jonathan did in 2011. Any ethnicity opposed to a TRUE WINNER will bend or break

Is this a stale attempt at hoodwinking the electorate to vote Jonathan out of fear?

Justcash:

1. You may need to define what you mean by a strong government. My dear friend, there are so many powerful governments in Nigeria. Unfortunately, they are ethnic and religious based. One of such governments is in the Niger-Delta creeks. If you are talking about "Strong" in terms of money and weapons, that government in the creeks of Niger delta can hold Nigeria on the balls till your perceived strong central government begs in submission. I am speaking from a historical perspective of Nigeria's politics.

2. You should know by now that the single most destructive impediment to Nigeria's progress is ethno-religious bigotry. Governments are seen not to perform well just because the leader is seen to be from a wrong ethnic group. As sad as it is, it is the truth.

3. GDP has nothing to do with a president with guts or balls, it has to do with investment rate, employment rate, export vs import rate, domestic consumption and government expenditure. If you destabilize the polity, you destroy the GDP. Like I told you, it will take more than balls and goodwill to stop a rampaging Nigerian militant group.

I like your profound optimism, but I really am not affiliated to any political position in 2015. However, as a political and economic analyst with a strong understanding of the dynamics in Nigerian politics, I can assure you that GEJ's liberal political approach (commendable) has erased the power of incumbency in the political calculations of 2015 general elections.

For your information, there are also consequences (mild) if the North fails to grab power in 2015. It is a political stalemate.

Your bat description is unnecessary.

Make suggestions to us; who should we vote for?

Ngwakwe:
One thing about online poll and media publicity since the inception of APC is undoubtedly skewed in favour of any APC Candidate.

Literally, they have invested in the print/online media and numerous social media workers as their model / main strategy to malign the Government, promote discord in the country using these socialist gangs in order to harvest protest votes and not in anyway approval votes

I have heard of recent a political term new to our geography by the same team when they honestly agreed the former Governor of Ekiti State Mr Feyemi was a product of media packaging.

My good people of Nigeria, arise and let us vote substance, resist intimidation and say no to the repackaged Brand called "Buhari"

According to our source , Apc have allocated 100 million naira so far to rig the e-voting ongoing with a view to embarrass the Presidency and use such vote for personal political references.

The rigging mechanism employed by Apc through their paid media attack dogs is to purchase thousands of mobile phone from the market, their paid media warror merely swap sim card in those phones and use it to vote for Buhari making it impossible for the computer gadget to dictate the ip address use in voting.

Each Apc paid social media agent is given atleast 500 mobile phone with different Ip address .

All Nigerians please arise let us stand together against this ongoing monumental rigging or a mere internet farce election for the sake of transparency , credibility and better tommorow

Politics / Re: Court Upholds Ban On Use Of Hijab In Lagos Public Schools by Asoozy: 3:23pm On Oct 17, 2014
Good!

Eldavido1:
An Ikeja High Court on Friday upheld the ban on the wearing of
Hijab (Muslim head scarf) in public primary and secondary schools
in Lagos state.
Justice Modupe Onyeabor dismissed the suit instituted against the
Lagos State Government by two 12-year-old girls under the aegis of
the Muslim Students of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit.
The government had banned the use of Hijab on the argument that
it was not part of the approved school uniform for pupils.
Following the ban, the students filed the suit on May 27, 2013,
seeking redress and asked the court to declare the ban as a
violation of their rights to freedom of thought, religion and
education.
In her judgment, Onyeabor held that the prohibition of the wearing
of Hijab over school uniforms within and outside the premises of
public schools was not discriminatory.
According to her, the ban does not violate sections 38 and 42 of the
1999 Constitution as claimed by the plaintiffs.
The judge said Section 10 of the Constitution made Nigeria a secular
state and that government must maintain neutrality at all times.
Onyeabor said the government therefore had a duty to preserve the
secular nature of the institutions concerned as argued by the Lagos
State Solicitor-General, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN).
She noted that since the public schools were being funded by the
government, it was therefore competent to issue dress codes and
other guidelines to the students.
According to her, the use of uniforms engenders uniformity and
encourages students to pursue their mutual academic aspirations
without recourse to religious or any other affiliations.
The judge, however, observed that the uniformity sought by the
government in the issuance of the dress code would be destroyed,
should the prayers of the plaintiffs be granted.
“The non-Hijab wearing students will feel inferior to those who are
putting on Hijab.
“The values of plurality and the respect for the rights of others who
have subscribed to a non-faith based educational system cannot be
breached.
“In that effect, the issue is resolved in favour of the respondents and
the suit is accordingly dismissed,’’ Onyeabor said.
Reacting to the judgment, the plaintiffs’ counsel, Chief Gani Adetola-
Kazeem, told NAN that his clients would file an appeal against the
judgment.
“Well the court has spoken but there are still very many issues to be
considered which invariably means that we will appeal the
judgment.
“We are simply not satisfied with the court decision.
“The angle through which the court has looked at the issue is quite
at variance with the provisions of the constitution. We will definitely
appeal,” he said. (NAN)

Now, this is what a counter argument ought to look like.

I agree with you that APC indeed had all the time to field a younger candidate but given the period of time the old parties were amalgamated into APC, it wouldn't have been feasible to bring a fresh face from the north who didn't have Fashola's track record. This would mean that at the time APC was formed, there would have been a very popular governor or minister of the Northern extraction who was blazing trails. APC was not lucky to have had this. What it did have though was an experienced horse who had been in races and had been favourited on every outing with increasing popularity. That is what Buhari is.

Had the race been for a southerner, then Fashola without the shadow of doubt would have been the obvious choice but it isn't so why throw the goodwill of Buhari away, which is guaranteed to bring votes all because we want to appear as forward thinkers. Politics is about power and control and to get that you must rake in the votes. Bringing a fresh faced young northerners in now will ensure that power does not move from Jonathan. Right now, we cannot afford that.

SirShymex:
Interesting submission. However, in as much as I believe anything, even a rabid dog, would be better than the incumbent weasel, this man is just too old to govern a country like a Nigeria. APC had all the time in the world to prop up a younger and charismatic candidate, through media campaign. Yet they never did that. Obviously, power should go back to the North - but is this the best Northern Nigeria can offer? I shudder!

When all the arguments in support of a candidate are solely based on nostalgia. Especially during a period when majority of the populace were not born - then it becomes problematic. History has a way of making the past look better than it was, especially when the present is ugly. That's basically when the emotions about "the good old days" take control, since the "new day" is what's happening in the present and can be easily accounted for. Also, since running a government is more of a collaborative/group work, and not an individual thing - and he'll most likely be surrounded by a new team, with a lot unbridled vultures and oligarchs in modern Nigeria, whose interests must be protected. Coupled with the fact that certain methods that were tolerated back then, won't be acceptable today. You have to ask if he'll be able to bring this nostalgic feelings back to modern Nigeria (that's if they're not being exaggerated). I'll just keep my fingers crossed to see how everything plays out.

However, I'd say he looks like a sure bet, and I believe GEJ's time is up. Heck, even the Anglo-American powers and owners of the world don't like GEJ's face. And it's evident to discerning minds. Furthermore, I just hope he'll select a decent VP, since I doubt he'll be able to survive old age (not wishing him death, just talking about mother nature here).

Believe what you will, I am not for APC nor am I for PDP but as the only eligible man is running on the platform of the APC, I will support him all the way! No wonder your senile suggestion was not given a look-in. You have suggested predominantly southern candidates bar one Northern one. If you were not so slow you will understand that we are going by federal character and had your ogogoro president not reneged on the PDP agreement to rotation, it will be the northerners turn to govern in 2015. APC is keeping to that agenda for the same of equality peace and unity, it is fielding a northerner as president so your Fashola, Duke suggestion were dead in arrival. While of course I do not disagree that Fashola and Dule are perfect candidates, if true peace and unity and the continuation if the entity called Nigeria is what we seek, we will be pragmatic in our choices.

Except of course you were never interested in the change from the status quo but to frustrate this democratic process.

You are a closeted PDP agent but your secret is an open book.

Obiagelli:

Sis we have got all it takes to compete,

We have a young and large labour force

We have a ready market

All we need is better environment

And to pull out if WTO!

Or better still copy the Chinese model and set up a special trading zone where the market will set policies for in as much as your elites still subscribe to the Washington consensus in its main government your country will still continue in slavery and you will never thrive. What you need is a string leader to see these anomalies and have the tenacity to say 'enough is enough'. Until we break from the shackles of neo-colonialism we cannot and will not move forward! You might have all the teaming workforce, all the resources but if WTO tells you that you must open your market to cheaper china products or cheaper American products you cannot thrive because however much your teaming workforce produces, their prices will still be undercut by competition!

What is the good of a vibrant workforce today that can be easily crippled by disease tomorrow. Take a look at Liberia and what is happening to its economy because it's workforce has been crippled by Ebola. Guess who wins, yes, the west, because by the time they come up with their patented vaccine which cannot be copied and reproduced at a reduced rate, the Africans will be forced to pay exorbitant price for it and uncle bob goes back to the west smiling.

My long rant is that we need a strong character in the mould of GMB who has passion for the betterment of Nigeria to say no to these gross inhumanity against its people. Someone who will protect the local markets. Minimise ISI but maximise ESI.

China and South Korea did it, so we can do it.

Buhari can do it.

You lot seem to be forgetting about the elephant in the room. That is the fact that we are signatories to all these external treaties which determine what we produce, how much we produce and set our prices through fierce competition. Nigeria does not have the power to set prices for as long as it is part of the WTO, still borrowing from the world bank and IMF. In so long as we have leaders who are all too ready to kowtow to Washington such as this Jonathan administration, we will continue to devolve powers and not have much say about about our purchase power.

This is why I say Buhari is the man! He has put these world oligarchs in their places before and he can do it again!

We can only effect good policies when we have a fearless leader who will look at the western hegemony and tell it to take a hike!

Buhari is that man with the liver to do such!

Likely you said we need the right policies, inflation must go down, interest rates must go down, and that depends on the value of our currency.
