***Commends Gov. Eno For Inclusive Governance And Development By Ubong ASSAM Jnr. Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, CFR has extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful around the world on the occasion of the Easter celebration. In his 2025 Easter message, Ntenyin Etuk called for total dedication among the leaders and the citizenry towards building a society where peace, unity, love, tolerance and brotherhood reign supreme irrespective of religion, tribe or race. The Akwa Ibom Premier royal father stressed that Christians should abide by the worthy examples of Jesus Christ’s life by always exhibiting good virtues of godliness, discipline, honesty, and love for one another. He noted that Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, which offers salvation to mankind, remains an outstanding sacrifice that must be greatly treasured by the Christian faithful. The message reads, "On behalf of my family and Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, I heartily felicitate with His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Christian faithful in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and the world at large on this occasion of Easter celebration. "Easter is a very solemn event for Christians and the world in general. It re-enacts the messianic role of Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection became the atonement for our sins and also renewed our place of sonship with the God Almighty as recorded in Galatians 4:4-7." “We have to take into account that the primary thrust of Jesus Christ's mission on Earth was to demonstrate God's love and grace, offer salvation from sin and death, and establish a new relationship between humanity and God. We have to treasure this and live a life depicting that we appreciate that unique sacrifice,” he added. According to the Patriarch of the Ibibios Worldwide, every society risks being engulfed in crises when there is a lack of love and unity as well as the pervasion of indiscipline and disobedience to God. He called on the government to ensure that institutions of learning deepen moral rectitude among students in their studies. The Patriarch also tasks ecclesiastical bodies to focus their preaching on building men and women to be of good character and lively principles, faithful who will value integrity, honour, virtuousness and uprightness above filthy lucre and social vices that ruin a society. “Let us see Easter as a period of sober reflection, a period to re-orientate our minds against greed, hatred, disunity, covetousness and economic sabotage. The Lord Jesus Christ serves as a worthy example we have to emulate. Speaking on Akwa Ibom State, the Supreme Monarch commended Governor Umo Eno for his inclusive governance and for the numerous projects his administration has implemented across the State as contained in the ARISE AGENDA. He, therefore, admonished everyone in Akwa Ibom to live in peace with one another, support the government and be obedient in carrying out God's command, as well as respect leaders and constituted authorities to ensure orderliness, peace and progress in the society. Oku Ibom Ibibio reiterated that traditional rulers in the State, as the custodians of the people, will continue to partner with the governments, MDAs and security agencies to ensure the prevalence of peace, unity, tranquillity and progress at the grassroots.

…says Governor’s strides have placed Akwa Ibom on the map of massive development Public affairs analyst and maritime industry expert, Akparawa Johnson Attah has declared that Governor Umo Eno has elevated Akwa Ibom State into a national reference point for good governance, infrastructural renaissance, and people-focused leadership. Attah made the remarks yesterday while fielding questions from journalists and online media professionals at the venue of the flag-off of Section 3 of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway at Ikot Asua, Nsit Atai Local Government Area. He said the nationwide commendations trailing the Governor’s leadership style are not driven by media hype or political propaganda but are grounded in verifiable performance and the growing impact of projects across the state. “Akwa Ibom has become a construction ground and Governor Umo Eno is the reason. He came prepared. He came to work. And today, the State is attracting both federal attention and national applause,” Attah stated. The former governorship candidate referenced the remarks of the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who at the flag-off ceremony, openly praised Governor Eno for his outstanding commitment to infrastructure, describing him as “a true leader passionate about quality and people-oriented projects.” According to Attah, “You do not earn such words from a member of another political party and Federal Minister unless your works are evident. Today, the Minister of Works has validated what Akwa Ibom people already know, that Governor Umo Eno is not just working, he is setting the pace.” The Mkpat Enin-born politician said the Governor’s humility, quiet competence, and unshaken focus have become the defining factors of his administration, adding that the ongoing projects across the 31 local government areas are proof that leadership still works when anchored on vision and empathy. “We are not just witnessing projects; we are witnessing priorities in motion; rural roads, urban regeneration, skills centres like DASAC, IbomLED etc, agricultural support, peace building, and human capital investment. These are the marks of a leader who understands development,” he said. Attah maintained that the choice of Akwa Ibom as host to a strategic portion of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is not coincidental, stressing that the federal government would only invest where there is stability, support, and serious leadership. “What we saw today at the flag-off is symbolic. It is a clear message that Akwa Ibom has earned the confidence of the federal government. And this is because we have a Governor who does not play politics with development. He supports the centre when it matters, and now, the centre is rewarding that spirit of cooperation.” He described the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a game-changer for the State’s economy and commended Governor Eno for pledging full support for the project and ensuring that all enabling conditions are met to speed up its delivery. Akparawa Attah used the occasion and urged Akwa Ibom people to continue rallying around the Governor to consolidate on the gains recorded so far, noting that the State is finally on a development path too visible to be ignored.

Posted by Ubong ASSAM Jnr. Former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Uko, Ph.D, has applauded the recent wave of national recognition trailing Governor Umo Eno, Ph.D, describing the awards as a well-earned reward for leadership that is both people-focused and impact-driven. Speaking with journalists and bloggers at his Uyo office on Friday, the former State Officer of the People’s Democratic Party said it was heartwarming to see a sitting Governor from Akwa Ibom consistently emerging as Nigeria’s Best Governor from some of the country’s most credible media institutions. He recalled that the Governor had earlier received the Best Governor Award from ThisDay and Arise News, followed by another from Leadership Newspaper, and most recently, on Thursday, was again named Best Governor in Nigeria by the New Telegraph Newspaper, a media institution renowned for its balanced reporting and editorial credibility. According to Uko, the awards are not just mere plaques, but affirmations of the Governor’s sincerity of purpose, deliberate focus on the grassroots, and visible projects that continue to transform lives across the state. “These are not awards you buy or beg for. They are earned, and you earn them by working selflessly for the people. Pastor Umo Eno is not playing to the gallery. He is quietly fixing the foundation of our state, and the world is beginning to notice,” he said. The former Speaker, who currently serves as the Governor’s Honorary Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, said he was particularly impressed that the recognitions cut across different spheres, governance, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development. “Our Governor is leading with humility, results and sincerity. From the rural roads he is opening up, to the world-class model schools he is constructing, to the way he is touching the poor and downtrodden, elders, youth, women and artisans - you can feel his presence everywhere. These awards are just a reflection of what the people already know,” Uko added. He also described Governor Umo Eno as a leader who understands legislative cooperation and consultative governance, noting that his inclusive approach has brought unprecedented peace and synergy between the executive, legislative and judiciary arms in the state. “As a former legislator, I know the value of what we’re witnessing today. The Governor respects the institution of the legislature. He carries people along, he listens, and he delegates. That is the true mark of leadership,” he said. The former parliamentarian used the opportunity to urge the people of Akwa Ibom to sincerely support the Christ-centric leader and his ARISE Agenda, thanking the Governor for trusting him with the responsibility of offering advisory support on legislative issues and promised to continue using his wealth of experience for the growth of the state.

By Ubong ASSAM Jnr. Mkpat Enin-born shipping magnate and public affairs analyst, Akparawa Johnson Attah, has joined the growing list of eminent Nigerians celebrating the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D, over his recognition as Leadership Newspaper’s Governor of the Year 2024, describing it as “another well-earned feather on a purposeful crown.” Exchanging views with Newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday, Attah, who is also the Managing Director of Calakwa Integrated Services Ltd, said the award was a clear confirmation that integrity, prudence, and people-focused governance are not only possible in Nigeria but are being practically demonstrated under Pastor Umo Eno’s leadership. According to him, “It was Theodore Roosevelt who said, ‘The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.’ That’s exactly what we are seeing in Pastor Umo Eno. He is calm, deliberate, focused, and deeply connected to the needs of the people.” The grassroots politician praised the Governor’s excellent commitment to transparency, security, and infrastructure, stressing that the award was coming barely two months after ThisDay Newspaper and ARISE News had jointly named him Best Performing Governor in Nigeria, which, according to him, is no coincidence but a result of deliberate effort. “The Governor’s record speaks for itself. From the aviation sector, agriculture, and rural development to the civil service and education reform, Pastor Umo Eno is rewriting the narrative. This award is not just a personal honour, it is an encouragement to those of us who believe in good governance,” Attah added. He used the occasion to reaffirm his support for the Governor’s ARISE Agenda and urged Akwa Ibomites across party lines to continue rallying behind the administration, saying, “When your leader is sincere and focused, the least you can do is to support him. We’ve never had it this transparent and inclusive.”

Eteidung Asikpo said the special award, like other avalanches of accolades to Governor Eno by other media houses and notable organisations across Nigeria, are a clear acknowledgement of his outstanding performance in office. Speaking in an interview in his Palace in Ekpri Nsukara Offot, the Royal father said Governor Eno, through his insightful development blueprint, the ARISE AGENDA, has made the people in the State feel the unprecedented impact of his leadership. He said, "We, in Ekpri Nsukara Offot, feel very happy about this latest award of Governor of the Year by the Leadership Newspaper. The award like several others, already conferred on His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, means they have all seen that he is working very well to serve the people of Akwa Ibom State. "He focuses on governance without allowing any distraction to ensure that his administration implements the ARISE AGENDA. We love him for the life-touching projects he is doing across the State. He has indeed ensured peace and unity in the State. Governor Umo Eno is indeed a servant leader." On the state of affairs in Ekpri Nsukara Offot, Eteidung Asikpo, who is a government-certificated village head, urged indigenes of Ekpri Nsukara Offot to shun mischief makers, who are in the habit of fabricating falsehood and unfounded allegations against the village leadership. He said recently that a certain Udeme Eyo Asuquo, who claims to be Secretary of Voice of Liberation Network, an unknown group in the village, had gone on TangSio FM on the 10th of March, 2025 to speak ill against him and the village leadership in a bit to cause disaffection in the village, but commended the indigenes for rebuffing him and his spurious antics. Eteidung Asikpo pointed out that the said Udeme Eyo Asuquo does not reside in Ekpri Nsukara Offot, describing his claims made during the TangSio FM Radio program, as utterly false, concocted and ridiculous. "Here in Ekpri Nsukara Offot, no one's right or possession is trampled upon or compromised. It is wrong therefore for anyone, who is not even residing in our village, to go to Radio and accuse someone falsely," he stated. The Royal father reiterated that the village council under his leadership will always ensure peace, unity, security and progress in the community and advised indigenes and residents alike, to live in peace with one another and go about their normal businesses.

...Says Governor Will Leave Office in 2031 as Akwa Ibom’s Best Ever Posted by Ubong Assam Jnr - Lagos A renowned tech-preneur and grassroots mobilizer, Akparawa Godwin Enang, popularly known as Goddafi, has described the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as the "true messiah of the Ikono people," saying the governor’s performance has exceeded expectations barely two years into office. Speaking during a live phone-in radio programme from Lagos at the weekend, the Ikono-born technocrat and Chief Executive Officer of Goddafi Computers and Communications said the governor’s string of ongoing projects in Ikono Local Government Area has clearly set him apart as a promise keeper and a servant-leader in touch with the people. Goddafi, who hails from Nkwot Ikot Obok Idem in Ikono LGA, noted that his people made the right choice by standing with Pastor Umo Eno during the 2023 general elections, adding that the dividends of that support are already visible across the area. He particularly cited the ongoing construction of the 7.9km Ring Road III, which cuts across Uyo, Ibiono Ibom and Ikono LGAs and is already nearing completion, as one of the landmark projects redefining the socio-economic landscape of the area. Also highlighted was the flag-off of the 10.9km Nsai Use – Ikot Amama – Ibiaku Ikot Esifa – Iton Mmong – Nkwot Ikot Obok Edem, his village, Nkwot Edem Edet Road and Spur, with two bridges of 40-metre and 20-metre spans, as well as the 0.2km discharge drain linking key communities in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono LGAs. The philanthropist further mentioned the ongoing construction of the 21.5km Ikot Anyan – Ediene – Ikot Ntia – Urua Naira – Ikot Nseyen – Nkwot – Nung Ukim Road, complete with a 60-metre span bridge, as another testimony to the governor’s commitment to rural development. According to him, "What Governor Umo Eno has done in Ikono within this short period is unmatched. For us, he is not just a governor. He is the messiah God sent to wipe away our tears. And that is why we will continue to stand by him." While reacting to Governor Eno’s recent recognition as Best Performing Governor in Nigeria by ThisDay Newspaper and other credible bodies, the businessman and former CPC member of the Umo Eno Campaign Organisation said the award is well deserved. "His Christ-centric leadership style is inclusive, humane and practical. From road infrastructure to rural transformation, from empowerment to participatory governance, the ARISE Agenda is not theory, it is real and working," he said. Goddafi particularly commended the governor’s ongoing Town Square meetings across federal constituencies, saying it was the first time in the history of the state that a governor would be so genuine and honest, so much that he sits with the people, listens to their needs, and promises to incorporate them into the 2026 budget. "That singular initiative has earned him an A1. No governor has ever brought governance this close to the people genuinely. We are seeing deliberate and strategic inclusion, and it is yielding results." The political heavyweight assured that he would continue to mobilise support for the governor, both at home and other areas where there are Akwa Ibomites, stressing that "when the righteous is in power, the people rejoice." According to Akparawa Enang, "By the time Governor Umo Eno completes his tenure in 2031, he will go down as the best to have ever governed Akwa Ibom State. For us in Ikono, he is a blessing, and we will stand by him every step of the way."

Posted by Ubong Assam Jnr Mkpat Enin-born shipping consultant and grassroots politician, Akparawa Johnson Attah, has described Governor Umo Eno as the only Governor in Nigeria currently running a truly transparent and participatory government, noting that his commitment to openness and stakeholder engagement is unmatched in the country. Attah, who made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing newsmen and bloggers at his residence in Uyo, said the ongoing four-day Executive Council Retreat in Lagos, which entered its second day today, is a clear reflection of a leader who understands governance, vision, and inclusiveness. “This is not the usual government retreat where people just sit and talk. What Pastor Umo Eno is doing is extraordinary. He is building a structure that is participatory, development-driven, and open to scrutiny by the people. He is running a government that carries everyone along; technocrats, political stakeholders, community leaders, the media, and even the masses,” Attah stated. According to the former Governorship aspirant, the retreat is not only strategic but is further positioning Akwa Ibom State to become an economic powerhouse beyond oil. He said the Governor’s insistence on clear deliverables, teamwork, and accountability proves that the ARISE Agenda is not just a campaign slogan but a working template being vigorously implemented. “He is very accessible. Projects and programmes are not hidden. Even his appointments reflect equity and competence. You can see that the people feel involved. That is why major national newspapers like ThisDay and the latest; Leadership, recently awarded him the Best Governor in Nigeria. The awards are not coincidence, it is well-deserved,” he added. The grassroots politician urged Akwa Ibom people to rally behind the Governor and support his vision, noting that if the State could experience this level of progress in less than two years, then by 2031, Pastor Umo Eno would no doubt exit office as the best Governor Akwa Ibom has ever had. Meanwhile, at the retreat in Lagos, Governor Umo Eno had earlier addressed participants comprising Commissioners, Delivery Team Members, Heads of MDAs, and critical stakeholders, stating that the event was organized to refocus the administration’s drive and deepen its implementation strategies in line with the ARISE Agenda. The retreat, which is expected to last four days, continues through the week with more high-level engagements and brainstorming sessions geared towards shaping the development future of Akwa Ibom.

***REAFFIRMS PARTY’S AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP Posted Seun Abimbola The Chairman of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of all State Chairmen of the party in Nigeria, Elder Inemesit Akpan, has set the record straight on the recent Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court judgment. Addressing a press conference on Friday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, Elder Akpan accused expelled members of the party of deliberately misinforming the public regarding the court’s ruling. The Akwa Ibom-born heavyweight politician stated that it became crucial to set the record straight following a judgment delivered by Justice M.A. Hassan of the FCT High Court, which declined jurisdiction over a case filed by individuals previously expelled from the party. He divulged that the judge made no comment on the merits of the case, confirming that the matter was strictly an internal party affair. “These recalcitrant individuals have continued to mislead the public, spreading falsehoods about the judgment," said Elder Akpan. "The court did not rule on the legitimacy of any group or confer authority on any so-called Board of Trustees as they have claimed. The judgment only established that the matter was beyond the jurisdiction of the court." Elder Akpan also clarified that the expulsion of Boniface Aniebonam, Major Agbo, Olaposi Oginni, and their cohorts from the party was never reversed. The earlier judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, delivered on April 18, 2024, which affirmed their expulsion, remains valid. He further emphasized that the true leadership of the NNPP continues under Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, the party’s National Chairman, as recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “According to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act of 2022, the official records of the NNPP are registered with INEC, and Dr. Ajuji Ahmed remains the authentic National Chairman of the party,” he said. Our Correspondent gathered that the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, had earlier condemned the actions of the expelled members, noting that their attempts to twist the judgment represented a new low for the group. Elder Akpan emphasized that INEC’s affidavit before the court had denied any knowledge of the activities of the expelled group, further discrediting their claims. "Their efforts to misguide Nigerians and disrupt the party’s progress will not succeed. The NNPP remains focused on its mission to provide effective leadership for the people of Nigeria," he concluded. He used the occasion to pledge the party’s loyalty to its National Leader, Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for his visionary and result-driven leadership. “We stand solidly behind our leader, His Excellency Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, FNSE. He is not just leading; he is charting a new course for Nigeria’s political future. His leadership has given this party direction, strength, and purpose, and we remain committed to following his example as he continues to shape a better future for our country,” Elder Akpan added.

Posted by Ubong ASSAM Jnr. It was a historic moment in Esit Eket on Thursday as Nsik Oil and Gas Company Ltd, an indigenous energy firm, held the groundbreaking ceremony for its 10MMSCF Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station at its facility in Uquo Isi Edoho. The project, which received widespread commendation, is poised to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and provide cleaner, more affordable energy solutions for Akwa Ibom and beyond. Speaking at the event, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, applauded the initiative, noting that it aligns perfectly with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the gas sector. Ekpo, who described the event as a homecoming, recalled: "When it was time to release the first N222 billion for the sector, I carefully reviewed the proposals and saw Nsik Oil and Gas, an indigenous company from Akwa Ibom. I knew this project had to be sustained," he stated. He further revealed that the Tinubu administration would inject another N400 billion into the sector in two months, urging more Akwa Ibom investors to seize the opportunity. The Minister stressed that beyond financial commitment, a peaceful and conducive environment was vital for sustaining such investments. He assured that upon completion, the project would significantly lower gas prices, eliminating long queues for purchase at ₦900. He added that it would position Esit Eket as an industrial hub, reduce reliance on premium motor spirit (PMS), and provide a sustainable energy alternative for industries, transportation, and households. Earlier in his address, Chairman/CEO of Nsik Oil and Gas, Mr. Nsikan Johnny, described the event as a defining moment in Nigeria’s energy landscape. "This project is a milestone in our journey to deliver cleaner and safer energy solutions to Nigerians. It stands as a testament to the vision of President Tinubu’s administration and our commitment to reducing environmental impact while stimulating economic growth," he said. Expressing gratitude to the Federal Government, Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF), Governor Umo Eno-led Akwa Ibom State Government, Inter Africa Global Consultants Ltd, stakeholders, and the host community, Johnny assured that the facility would serve Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Cross River, and Abia States. Giving an overview of the project, the lead consultant, Mr. Mkposong Asuquo, stated that the facility would operate with four reciprocating compressors, ensuring seamless gas compression and transportation to off-takers and corporate entities across Nigeria. He further disclosed that the necessary regulatory approvals, including the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and License to Construct, had been secured. On behalf of the people of Esit Eket, the Council Chairman, Hon. Inemesit Ikott, expressed gratitude to Governor Umo Eno for approving the project, assuring that the local government would ensure the security of the facility. The event also featured goodwill messages from distinguished personalities, including Senator Effiong Bob, Emmanuel Enoidem (SAN), and Dr. Eunice Thomas, who applauded the project as a reflection of indigenous resilience. Bob acknowledged the challenges of breaking into the oil and gas sector, commending Nsik Oil and Gas for its bold and determined move. Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, Clan Head, Chief Nsuduok Etudo Ikot, affirmed that the Paramount Ruler and the Traditional Rulers Council (TRC) had given their full backing to the project. He expressed confidence that it would drive economic transformation in the area. On her part, Dr. Eunice Thomas called on the company to prioritize training for local youths in CNG technology, emphasizing the need for skilled manpower in the evolving energy sector. She also appealed for the establishment of daughter stations across the local government to enhance accessibility and affordability. ••• Reveals That Party Has All It Takes To Occupy Aso Rock A Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Commissioner for Water Resources in Kano State, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, has called on party stakeholders in Akwa Ibom to close ranks and reposition the party for victory in the 2027 general elections. Hon. Doguwa made the call on Friday during a high-level meeting with party leaders and stakeholders in Uyo, where he stressed the importance of unity and strategic planning in strengthening the party’s foothold in the state and the South-South region at large. Addressing the gathering, the former NNPP Chairman in Kano lauded the National Leader of the party, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for his steadfast commitment to expanding the party’s influence across the country. He also commended his principal, the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his remarkable strides in governance, describing his achievements as clear proof that the NNPP remains the best alternative for Nigerians, adding that the party is poised to take over the nation and offer top-notch leadership. Hon. Doguwa used the occasion to highlight some of Governor Yusuf’s accomplishments in agriculture, water resources, education, health, and security, among others, noting that the administration has, since assuming office, made a significant impact in all key sectors. The NNPP stalwart pointed to the Governor’s decisive intervention in education, which, he said, saw a historic 31% budgetary allocation in 2025 fiscal year to the sector, the rehabilitation of public schools, the provision of water, and the introduction of scholarships for all pupils and students in public schools across Kano. He further noted the Governor’s investments in infrastructure, including the completion of abandoned road projects, the construction of new township roads, and the disbursement of over ₦11 billion to pensioners in a bid to ease the financial burden on retirees. His words: "In the entire country, there is no government that is working like our government. There is no state currently that has witnessed the kind of transformation that my governor is leading. "For instance, when we came into Kano State, we had 400 schools in one zone with only one teacher. Within the first three months, His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf, implemented a massive employment of 5,624 teachers. Again, when we left government in 2015, we left with 75 boarding schools. Before we came back, the former administration of Ganduje had closed down 40 boarding schools, which led to the schools being neglected. There’s a school we left with 2,400 students, but when we returned to power, we found only 107 students, and we had to revive that crucial sector. "Another sector that was neglected is the water sector. We didn’t have water in Kano, but I announce that we have ordered 10 high-powered water pumps, each costing over 200 million Naira, and His Excellency has approved the purchase of 10. "His Excellency, the governor, is budgeting more than 2 billion Naira monthly for the water sector in Kano. He is also opening hospitals, and this year, we have sent more than 1,000 students abroad for post-graduate studies. We have supplied more than one million school uniforms across Kano this year. Every day, we take pupils and students to school for free. We have more than 70 high-capacity buses that transport our children to school and bring them home. "This year alone, His Excellency, the governor, paid 2.9 billion Naira to NECO. The governor has opened over six general hospitals in Kano, and each local government in Kano will have a 5 km dual carriageway with solar streetlights. As we speak, Kano is becoming like London. I tell you, we have revamped agriculture and all sectors in Kano under the able leadership of His Excellency Abba Yusuf. This model will be replicated across the country." While urging Nigerians to take note of these achievements, the Kano Water Resources Commissioner emphasized that the NNPP, when it assumes power at the federal level in 2027, would replicate such transformational leadership across the country. Responding, the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the NNPP, Elder Inemesit Akpan, commended Hon. Doguwa for his visit and assured him of the party’s readiness to galvanize support ahead of 2027. The Ibesikpo Asutan-born politician who is also the Chairman of NNPP State Chairmen in the Country reiterated that their party in Akwa Ibom was well-positioned to deliver at least two million votes for the party in the next general elections, adding that members would work tirelessly to ensure the party’s success. The meeting, which had key party figures in attendance, was seen as a crucial step in repositioning the NNPP in Akwa Ibom as the party intensifies preparations for future elections.

The maritime expert with over 23 years of experience made this commendation during a media interaction with newsmen and bloggers in Uyo on Tuesday. Reacting to questions about the Governor’s recent strides, Attah praised Pastor Umo Eno for his unprecedented efforts in resolving long-standing challenges affecting workers and retirees in the state. His words: "His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., is truly a jinx breaker. Clearing ₦42 billion in gratuity arrears dating back to 2012 within just 20 months is remarkable. It highlights his commitment to restoring dignity to our senior citizens." The Mkpat Enin-born former Governorship aspirant further lauded Pastor Eno for implementing the ₦80,000 minimum wage for over 45,000 verified public servants, backdated to November 2024. "This bold and historic decision reflects His Excellency's empathy for workers, especially during these economically challenging times when prices of goods and services have soared," he noted. Attah also acknowledged the Governor’s unprecedented generosity toward journalists, citing the recent presentation of a brand-new SUV to the NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, and 12 saloon cars to members of the union’s State Working Committee. He called on Akwa Ibomites to rally behind the administration, emphasizing that the ARISE Agenda is laying a strong foundation for a prosperous state. "Gentlemen, I’ve said this repeatedly – we are witnessing a new dawn in Akwa Ibom State. In just 20 months, the strides in agricultural revolution, rural transformation, infrastructure development, top-notch security, and advancements in education are evident. Even the harshest critic would agree that the Umo Eno administration is truly committed to improving lives. These achievements reflect a leadership that is visionary and people-focused," he added. Attah used the occasion to urge civil servants to reciprocate the Governor’s goodwill with dedication to duty, reminding them that to whom much is given, much is expected. He also charged journalists to support the government through balanced and development-focused reportage, highlighting the media’s critical role in fostering unity and progress across Akwa Ibom State.

Posted by Ubong Assam Jnr. The High Court sitting before Justice Dipeolu on Friday, January 17, 2025, heard arguments on an application to set aside a Mareva injunction and other ex parte orders obtained by First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) and FBNQuest Limited against General Hydrocarbons Limited (GHL) and others. Dr. Abiodun Layonu (SAN), representing the defendants, contended that the plaintiffs failed to disclose critical facts, notably an earlier judgment by Justice Lewis-Allagoa of the Federal High Court. That judgment barred FBN from enforcing any security or assets linked to GHL's oil operations on OML 120 until arbitration proceedings are resolved. Dr. Layonu argued that this omission amounted to suppression of facts, misguiding the court into granting the Mareva injunction. He emphasized that the plaintiffs improperly approached the court through an originating summons, asserting that the matter remains under arbitration and no judgment sum has been awarded. Furthermore, the plaintiffs, he said, had not proven their case, particularly concerning the disputed sums, before securing the injunction. Dr. Layonu also highlighted that the contested asset, an oil block, cannot be dissipated or relocated, questioning the rationale for the Mareva order. He accused the plaintiffs of employing “strong-arm tactics,” including media campaigns, to frustrate GHL's operations. Counsel for the second to fifth defendants, Mr. Olumide Aju (SAN), argued that his clients—directors of GHL—should not have been joined in the suit, as they were not parties to the contract in question nor had they issued personal guarantees. He described the suit as a case of forum shopping and abuse of court processes, urging the court to lift the Mareva order and strike out the case against his clients. Additionally, Mr. Abiodun Anibaba, representing the sixth and seventh defendants, stated that his clients had no involvement in the transactions under dispute and questioned why they were included in the case. He pointed out procedural irregularities, arguing that an undertaking for damages, required before granting a Mareva injunction, was treated as an afterthought. After hearing submissions from all parties, Justice Dipeolu reserved ruling on the application to set aside the Mareva injunction.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED BY THE IBOM STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION NETWORK (ISCN) AFTER AN EMERGENCY MEETING HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 11, 2025, AT MBEBENG MODERN HOTEL, 4 HOSPITAL ROAD, UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE. Fejiro Oliver: Stop Doing Your Paymaster's Dirty Work to Blackmail Udom Emmanuel, CON and Akwa Ibom Leaders! The Ibom Strategic Communication Network (ISCN), an assembly of seasoned professionals and steadfast advocates for truth, peace, and progressive dialogue in Akwa Ibom State, has observed with profound concern the coordinated onslaught of lies, blackmail, and divisive narratives being peddled against respected leaders of our state, particularly the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON. These smear campaigns, evidently sponsored by an individual who is opposed to the peaceful coexistence in Akwa Ibom State, using Fejiro Oliver as a mere pawn, have no place in our beloved state and will be met with the strongest resistance. For eight years, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, CON, an accomplished banker and statesman of repute, provided Akwa Ibom State with sterling leadership. The remarkable achievements of our revered leader, Mr. Emmanuel, are so numerous and impactful that attempting to document them all would be an endless endeavour. His administration brought about a new wave of development, economic stability, and peace that remains a reference point across Nigeria. He left office with his honour intact, free of scandal, and universally acknowledged as a visionary leader who prioritized the welfare of Akwa Ibom people. It is therefore reprehensible and utterly disgraceful for a desperate detractor to embark on a baseless campaign of calumny against such a distinguished personality. The ISCN, a network dedicated to promoting transparency, fostering informed communication, and driving meaningful discourse for societal growth, unequivocally warns Fejiro Oliver and other paid blackmailers who have made it their life’s mission to spread falsehoods about Mr. Emmanuel and other Akwa Ibom leaders. Your destructive antics, fueled by personal greed and a toxic hunger for chaos, will no longer be tolerated. We will neither allow enemies of Akwa Ibom in high places nor Fejiro, with no sense of decency, to use their pens or platforms to throw our peaceful state into turmoil for their selfish gain. Akwa Ibom State has enjoyed peace and stability under successive administrations. This peace will not be compromised by those who thrive on discord. Let it be known that the people of Akwa Ibom will not fold their arms while a known blackmailer and self-styled activist wage an unprovoked war against their collective progress. The ISCN has, therefore, resolved as follows: Failure to comply with this warning will result in legal action initiated by our legal team to defend the integrity of our leaders and the reputation of Akwa Ibom State. 1. We warn Fejiro Oliver and his sponsor to stop this shameless display. The administration of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON, was built on unmatched transparency, with all government transactions made public. If they have any evidence to the contrary, instead of acting as judge and jury on social media, Fejiro should grow up and take the matter to the appropriate government body. Mr. Emmanuel has nothing to hide, and it's sheer cowardice to use his name to gain clout and cash by stirring up baseless drama online. 2. We strongly caution all blackmailers and their financiers to redirect their energies to meaningful ventures in their communities. Akwa Ibom is not a playground for political saboteurs, nor will it be reduced to a stage for their disgraceful theatrics. 3. We urge the public to treat these recent attacks as the handiwork of enemies of peace who are bent on destabilizing the most harmonious state in Nigeria. These are people who revel in chaos and political strife, and their motives are clear: to disrupt the unity and progress we have collectively built over the years. 4. We reaffirm our commitment to holding all purveyors of falsehood accountable for their actions. Any individual or group found to be complicit in these malicious acts will face the full weight of the law, as we are determined to defend the honour and dignity of Akwa Ibom State. The ISCN will continue to stand as a watchdog for truth, fairness, and justice in Akwa Ibom State. We will not allow our leaders, who have served this state with dedication and distinction, to be dragged through the mud by mercenaries of discord. Let this communique serve as a final warning: Peace in Akwa Ibom is sacrosanct, and any attempt to breach it will be met with an unfaltering and decisive response. Signed: Atuekong Paul Bassey Chairman. Comrade Ndifreke Usen Publicity Secretary.
