Posted by Segun Abimbola, Lagos.

Shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), today, issued the Certificate of Return to the Governor-elect of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, groups and individuals in and outside the State have sent their goodwill messages to identify with the incoming Governor.

One of the first in the political class to officially celebrate the elected governor, was the Executive Chairman, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council, Hon. Ekopimo Polycarp Edet, who pledged his unwavering support and loyalty to the incoming administration under Pastor Umo Eno and prayed the Almighty God to grant him good health, protection, wisdom, courage, and guidance in his preparation and governance of Akwa Ibom.

The Ibiono Ibom Council boss who was among eminent sons and daughters of the State that witnessed the ceremony at the State INEC Headquarters, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, told Journalists at the sidelines of the event that, Pastor Umo Eno deserved commendation for his commitment to run an all-inclusive government.

He maintained that the unity, peace, understanding and brotherhood of all Akwa Ibomites were imperative, for the state being the pacesetter in infrastructure development, industrialization, education, agriculture, human capital development among others to move forward.

Hon. Edet specifically said that the ARISE agenda of Pastor Eno, will ensure full-scale development especially at the grassroots and in the hinterlands, hinting that the Governor-elect has provided a detailed and promising roadmap for the State.

He predicated smooth transition of power from Deacon Udom Emmanuel to the incoming government, saying: “The fact that Pastor Umo Eno has enormous goodwill from across the board - the Christian bodies, Traditional Institution, Stakeholders, Local Government, Socio-political institution, Students Union, etc, will make the task easy for him and I do hope that he will make Akwa Ibomites proud.

The Ibiono Ibom Chairman used the occasion to urge the people of the state to sheath their swords and support Pastor Umo Eno, whom he referred to as "Joshua of our time," as he embarks on the onerous mission of leading Akwa Ibom to the land of Promise.

Elated by the landslide victory of the PDP gubernatorial Candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, as the winner of the March 18 Governorship election in Akwa Ibom, the YOUTH WING of a formidable political group in the state; Uyo Senatorial District Peoples' Initiative (USPI), has said the result of the poll is an eloquent proof that the umbrella party is a religion in the State.

A goodwill message, issued Tuesday, by the National Youth President of the organization, Elder Iniobong Obot, noted: "It is with great delight that we felicitate with the Golden Gift for the good people of Akwa Ibom, His Excellency-elect, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, on their resounding victory at Saturday’s polls, and their subsequent declaration as Governor-elect and Deputy Governor-elect of Akwa Ibom State by the INEC."

Describing the outcome of the election as a Victory for the people of Akwa Ibom State, the YOUTH WING of USPI, commended Akwa Ibomites, especially the youth, for trusting the PDP and voting massively for Umo Eno/Eyakenyi ticket, alongside candidates of the PDP for House of Assembly.

Part of their statement read: "Pastor Umo Eno's electoral victory is a reflection of the wish of the people of Uyo Senatorial District, and Akwa Ibom State in general who through the ballot, reposed trust and confidence on him and the PDP.

“As a group, whose members are drawn from the Nine (9) vastly populated local government areas of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, which the governorship election was zoned to, we call on other contenders to accept the outcome of the Governorship Election in the state and congratulate the Governor-elect, Pastor Umo Eno."

The YOUTH WING of USPI noted that contrary to the wrongful assertion by the opposition parties, the state governorship and House of Assembly elections followed due process and were conducted in consonance with relevant laws, especially the Electoral Act 2022 as amended.

The group also noted that the results duly collated from the various units, wards and local government areas had so far been adjudged by local and international observers as free, fair, credible and transparent.

They specifically commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for fulfilling all his campaign promises in all sectors and above all, sustaining peace in the State, expressing optimism that the incoming administration which is coming with ARISE agenda, will build on already existing achievements of the PDP-led government.

“We are deeply convinced being a courageous, purposeful, honest, visionary leader and true Man of God, Pastor Umo Eno will revolutionize our dear State and put it on a roller-coaster of development," the group stated.

While expressing appreciation to its progenitor and champion of Uyo politics; Prince Enobong Uwah, for empowering uncountable youths of the senatorial district to be self reliant, including those in the USPI, the formidable organization prayed God to grant the Governor-elect and all the elected House of Assembly candidates divine wisdom and understanding to pilot the affairs of the State.

Elder Obot, who is the National Youth Leader of the organization also extolled the altruistic leadership style of the National Coordinator, USPI; Dr. Samuel Edet (Akintola), the team spirit of the National Executive Council as well as the massive support of all Local Government Coordinators and Women wing, saying, these, among others, enabled the group to return bloc votes for the PDP in the just concluded elections.

He, therefore, assured the continued support of the entire youths of USPI to the incoming administration and leadership of the PDP in Akwa Ibom.

ACCORD in Akwa Ibom has expressed optimism about winning Saturday's gubernatorial election in the oil rich State.

The party’s State Chairman, Rt Hon Martins Ansa, made the declaration at a news conference in Uyo, while speaking on ACCORD's preparedness for the governorship and State Assembly polls.

Reacting to insinuations in some quarters that his party has handed its structure to the PDP in the State, Ansa, described it as "Malaria-induced dream", saying his governorship candidate, "Engr (Dr) Emem Coffie will not succumb to or step down for anybody."

His words: "Instead of Accord stepping down for PDP or any other party, they will step down for us. You see, those who spread the rumor and fabricated story are afraid of our popularity.

"we have traversed the 31 Local Government areas of the state and one common problem of our people is hunger. There's excruciating hunger in Akwa Ibom. Our intelligent youths and ladies are roaming the streets in search of work. Unemployment is at its zenith. Retirees are dying on daily basis because government is not interested in their welfare.

"By the grace of God, when Engr (Dr) Emem Coffie will be sworn into office as governor of Akwa Ibom State on May 29 this year, I am certain that those issues will be solved. My candidate has the ability and connections to surmount all problems and bring this State on the right track of prosperity."

While calling on all members of ACCORD and lovers of altruistic leadership and responsive government in Akwa Ibom to cast their votes for his party's gubernatorial and House of Assembly candidates on Saturday, Ansa said Engr (Dr) Coffie has put machinery on ground already to create millionaires in every Akwa Ibom home during his administration

Recall that in the early hours of Thursday, the Country's electoral umpire; Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced the postponement of the polls earlier slated for this Saturday to March 18. An official statement by the commission stated that political campaigns will continue until midnight of Thursday 16 March 2023, which is 24 hours before the new date for the election.

Reacting to the latest development, the National Coordinator, Door-to-Door for Umo Eno, Engr. Don Bassey, announced that his group, which according to him is boasting of over 100,000 membership strength, will use the opportunity and intensify efforts to canvass more votes for the PDP.

The renowned Entrepreneur-cum-Politician who fielded questions from Journalists in Uyo, Thursday, noted that, since when the INEC lifted the ban on political campaigns, the formidable support group has been at the forefront of mobilizing people and canvasing votes for Pastor Umo Eno and all candidates of the PDP.

"Door-to-door Support group for Pastor Umo Eno/Akon Eyakenyi is not interested in all those razzmatazz, we are working assiduously at the grassroots. By the grace of God we have taken our voter educate and sensitization to the entire 31 Local Government Areas of the State. We have received assurances of votes for PDP from those we met at homes, units, communities, wards and even those in the hinterlands.

"This morning, the National Executive Council of the organization has issued a statement to our canvassers and indeed, all members to return to every door and every unit in his or her locality and continue the gospel.

"Our target is landslide victory for PDP because the coming election is pivotal to the success of the PDP-led government in the State. The leader of the party; His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has built multitudinous foundation already in infrastructure, industrialization, agriculture, education, power, human capital development and other sectors. It will be a smooth ride for another PDP administration to continue the developmental strides," Don Bassey stated.

Answering a reporters question, Bassey who is the Political Leader of Ubium North Ward II, used the occasion to specifically commend the member representing Nsit Ubium in the State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr) Otobong Bob, for offering his constituents an impactful and effective representation in the last seven years and nine months.

He assured that the people of Nsit Ubium will never regret re-electing the youngest Assemblyman to become a ranking member as accountability, transparency and quality representation will be his watchword.

Business / FENS PROPERTIES: Indigenous Contractors With Int'l Standard by Assamjnr: 6:26pm On Feb 28, 2023
Posted by Hillary Iheme, Port Harcourt

Since the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, the country has depended mainly on foreign contracting firms for its construction works and projects. In fact, in our Country, the bigger and more complex the project, the more reason it should go to a foreign company.

Although foreign firms are still dominating construction in Nigeria, it is however soothing to see that some indigenous construction companies have carved a niche for themselves in the sector. Presently, one indigenous construction firm that is progressively taking the lead and raising the bar in the construction business is Fens Properties (Nigeria) Limited.

Fens Properties, the brainchild of Mr. Michael Asuquo Udofia - a successful businessman who has built an empire in the Country's oil and gas sector through his Fens Oil (established in the 90s), hails from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Incorporated and registered on 21st May 2009 with Registration Number 820156, Fens Properties Nigeria Limited prides itself on its track record of delivering topnotch projects with the same quality and performance obtainable from first-class foreign construction companies operating in the country.

In over a decade of its existence, Fens Properties is best known in the industry for the quality of their jobs and the culture of excellence they exhibit which is rarely found among indigenous construction companies in Nigeria. Among the factors that distinguish the company as a top indigenous construction firm in the Country are their quality of delivery, attention to details and the professionalism of their project teams.

Another distinguishing factor is that Fens is managed by a project management team, regardless of size or scale of work. So, whether it is a self-build or consultancy, the company's experienced project managers, site supervisors and construction managers are on-hand throughout the process to ensure that the project is completed safely, on-time, within budget and ultimately, to a high standard before handing over to the client.

Scope of Services and Operations:

Being a multi-service construction company, Fens Properties has completed several residential, industrial, commercial, institutional and infrastructure projects in the Country, the latest being an ultramodern Faculty of Arts storey building, completed with lecture halls and offices, the ongoing Faculty of Law building as well as a state-of-the-art Lecture theatre, all located at the Permanent site of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

What the Clients say:

Because Fens Properties is synonymous with delivering top-notch jobs on record time, their clients have eulogized the company for maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism on all their projects.

Attesting to the company’s competence, the Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo; Prof. Nyaudo Ndaeyo, during the recent inauguration of the gigantic Faculty of Arts building, lauded Fens Properties for the quality of its work in the campus.

Unlike other contractors who either abandoned their jobs or had no financial strength to deliver on record time, the VC assured that Fens will enjoy the University's continuous partnership and support to deliver other buildings and infrastructure in the campus.

On his part, the Director of Works in the University, eulogized the company for providing high quality services. He noted that all materials used by the company, their services and works were in accordance with the international best practices. He submitted that Fens Properties carried out laboratory tests before and during operations in first class laboratories to ensure compliance with the relevant specifications and laws.

Analysts’ view:

To analysts, the competence and professionalism demonstrated by Fens Properties clearly demonstrate the readiness of the indigenous contractors to make a bold statement on quality job deliver. They are further of the view that other organizations and corporate bodies should trust the company, as this will certainly go a long way in reducing youth unemployment and save the nation from capital flight.

Conclusion:

In view of the documented testimonials the company has accumulated from professionals and other highly reputable clients/organizations, it can be deduced that Fens Properties Nigeria Limited remains the numero-uno in the industry and can compete favourably with any foreign companies.

Therefore this is the right time for States and Federal Government of Nigeria to give indigenous contractors like Fens Properties enough room to grow through constant patronage. Contact them at their headquarters located at 70/72 Edet Bassey Avenue - off Abel Damina Way, Osongama Estate, Uyo, Nigeria.

The first political party on the ballot; ACCORD, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has become the first to officially congratulate the Senator-elect for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chief (Dr) Godswill Obot Akpabio CON, in the Saturday's National Assembly election.

Akpabio, according to the official result by INEC, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he scored a total of 115,401 votes to defeat the candidate of the peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, who came a distant second after polling 69,838 votes.

The former Minority Leader of the Senate, was declared winner of Saturday's election by Professor Anthony Udoh at INEC office in Ikot Ekpene.

Reacting, the State's Chairman of ACCORD, Rt Hon Martins Ansa, while congratulating Senator Akpabio, on behalf of his party, said, the former Akwa Ibom governor's victory was an eloquent proof to all Akwa Ibomites that any candidate with good track record can defeat the ruling party in the State and that, PDP was not a religion as erroneously assume.

“This victory has again affirmed the general acceptance of Senator GodsWill Akpabio by the entire people of the State. We knew this victory is possible, that was why ACCORD endorsed and declared Akpabio as our sole candidate alongside the Presidential candidate of APC; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"On this note, I congratulate the good people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district and most especially, members of ACCORD in the 10 local government areas of Akwa ibom North West Senatorial District, namely; Abak, Essien Udim, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Ikono, Ikot Ekpene, Ini, Obot, Oruk Anam and Ukanafun for voting massively for the Uncommon Transformer.

"His flawless victory at Saturday's poll is an eloquent proof that PDP is dead in Akwa Ibom." Part of his message read.

Ansa used the occasion to express his conviction in the ability of his governorship candidate, Engr (Dr) Emem Coffie, to win the March 11 gubernatorial election in the State.

”As it stands today, most especially with the massive support we enjoy from Akwa Ibom people across party lines, the alignments, re-alignments etc, ACCORD in Akwa Ibom is prepared and ready to take over the Hilltop Mansion.

”On behalf of our great party the ACCORD, I congratulate the Uncommon Transformer and the will of God for Nigeria, Asiwaju in advance. Accord in Akwa Ibom looks forward toward working with you both in our resolve to completely industrialize our State and take our people out of poverty,” Ansa stated.

The ACCORD in Akwa Ibom State has denied a claim that it had endorsed the Uyo Senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Victoria Ibokette.

The State Chairman of ACCORD, Rt Hon (Engr) Martins Ansa, who made the rebuttal at a news conference on Monday in Uyo, urged Akwa Ibom people in particular and the online community to disregard the claim.

His words: "Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and misleading post made by one Princess Victoria Ibokette on Facebook, a supposed senatorial candidate of ADC, alleging that ACCORD has unanimously endorsed her.

“It is appalling to think that we would abandon our candidate who is the best and settle for Ibokette, a woman that is not known in her ward.

"We make bold to state that the only candidate known to the ACCORD who also has all it takes to win Saturday's election and give Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) Senatorial District an effective and people-centric representation at the 10th National Assembly (Senate) is our standard bearer; Ime Hosanna Ndem.

“By the grace of God and with the support of the good people of Uyo Senatorial District, our candidate being the most accessible and closet to the grassroots persons will win; the reason Victoria Ibokette is jittery and over worried.

"We have received reliable intelligence that Victoria Ibokette is threatened by the growing popularity of ACCORD in Akwa Ibom and is planning to defect to the first political party on the ballot. While we are still contemplating our options to either accept her into our fold or not, we state emphatically that ACCORD will no more condone any further puerile or juvenile strategy to join our party through the back door” the party Chairman stated.

Rt. Hon. Ansa used the occasion to call on the people to vote for candidates of ACCORD on Saturday as well as ACCORD's Governorship candidate, Engr. Emem Coffie on March 11, the only man he said will end extreme hunger in the State and create at least one Millionaire in every Akwa Ibom home.

Politics / 5 Paramount Rulers Of Oro Nation Back A'ibom Accord Guber Candidate Emem Coffie by Assamjnr: 7:54pm On Feb 19, 2023
Posted by Celestine Myke - PH.

Since he kick-started his consultations ahead of the March 11 polls, the gubernatorial candidate of the ACCORD in Akwa Ibom State, Engr. (Dr.) Emem Coffie, has continued to soar with various endorsements from major power brokers, political heavyweights, highly revered institutions, groups and organisations in the State.

In endorsing the Civil Structural Engineer, stakeholders in Akwa Ibom believe that Emem Coffie is the right person to lead the state given his experience, his transparency, respect for rules, entrepreneurial spirit and his massive success as a Management expert and real estate developer.

The gale of endorsements for the ACCORD governorship candidate began on Friday as he paid homage to the Paramount Ruler of Oron Local Government Area, HRM Ovong (Surv.) Odiong Akan at his palace.

The monarch, a Surveyor, who said the governorship candidate of ACCORD, had immense respect for the traditional institution and the royal fathers which necessitated his visit, called the traditional rulers in the palace to pray for his success.

However, the tempo of support entered another gear when the governorship candidate arrived at the Paramount Ruler of Udung Uko LGA, HRM Offong (Hon.) Bassey Etim Edet (JP.)

The monarch who received the campaign train of ACCORD gubernatorial candidate at his palace alongside a cross section Clan and village heads stated unequivocally that, "the time has come for the best to govern Akwa Ibom State."

He noted that, until a leader showcases himself and throws hat in the ring, no one would know he exists.

The royal father specifically lauded the candidate for his lofty plans for Akwa Ibom, especially, for his plan to make Ibaka deep seaport a reality and end incessant attacks by sea pirates in Oro Nation.

The story was the same at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Mbo LGA; HRM Ogwong Okon A. Abang, who while receiving the campaign train of the ACCORD candidate, prayed God to install a governor who has the fear of God.

He said, "if God is by your (Coffie) side, I believe you will do all that you've said for Akwa Ibom. If God can give us a listening governor who knows the problem of Oro, there will be a serious change... because there's so much tribalism and nepotism in the land and these things do not augur well."

On their parts, Paramount Rulers of Urueoffong/Oruko and that of Okobo LGA; HRM Offong Effiong Matthew Unanaowo and HRM Ovong Ita Edet Okokon respectively, pledged their support and wished him success in the governorship election, assuring that all members of the two councils were happy with him and believe he would govern the state well.

By coming to consult them, the Royal fathers stated it was a mark of respect to them as custodians of the culture and tradition. The monarchs prayed for Coffie's success in the March 11 governorship election.

Coffie also received endorsement speeches from various youth groups who gathered at their respective areas to welcome their august visitor. They recounted the achievements of the ACCORD candidate as a leading entrepreneur and business innovator.

Meanwhile, during the Friday's visit to the palace of the five Paramount Rulers of Oro Nation; Oron, Udung Uko, Mbo, Urueoffong/Oruko and Okobo, the ACCORD standard bearer, Engr Dr Emem Coffie, while addressing the Royal Fathers, informed about the mega rally of his party slated for Tuesday, 21st February in Oron LGA, saying he will further unearth his plans for the new Akwa Ibom to the people.

Coffie who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Mercy Emem Coffie, Deputy Governorship candidate of ACCORD, Evang. (Dr.) Love Charles Archibong, State chairman of the party, Rt Hon (Engr) Martins Ansa, candidate of the party for Oron Federal constituency, Col. Edet Sampson, Retd, that of Ibesikpo Asutan state constituency, Mr. Aniekan Johnson, among other heavyweights of ACCORD in the State, promised to turn the entire Akwa Ibom from a high consumption state to one where production will take precedence as well as zero per cent in the state’s poverty index.

Speaking extensively about the Ibaka deep seaport project, Coffie boasted, "What will make Ibaka deep seaport work I have it in my palm," taunting the current administration that, "no one gives what he does not have.

He explained that, for the seaport to become a reality, certain politics must be played and lobby done with a State in the South West, which he said, controls projects of that nature.

"Ibaka deep seaport is a Public private partnership project and I know investors outside the country that can come into this State and the project becomes a reality. I know what to do to start and complete the project under my tenure," he stressed

Continuing, the governorship candidate said his administration will use raw materials from each local government area and build cottage industries according to what each area has, saying he will construct such industries across the 31 LGAs of the State.

He said: " I have a model that industries will not be owned by the government but through a Public Private partnership (PPP) model. The only way to create money is to create avenues for people to work and during my administration, we will send hunger out of this State"

In the area of making the youths of the State employers of labour, Coffie asked rhetorically, "our youths, are they skilled, are they employable? What I want to do is, every primary and secondary school will have a vocational training centre that will coach our children and after schooling and training at the same time, parents will know the areas our children are good at. Thereafter we send those qualified for industrial attachment.

"The third thing I'll do is to chart all the land in Akwa Ibom to have value. There will be what I call, Akwa Ibom State Geographical Information System where all lands will have Certificates of occupancy. This will automatically skyrocket the prices of our lands and will be to our advantage," he stated amidst thunderous applause.

Emem Coffie called on the people of the State to jettison money politics and support a candidate with genuine love to end hunger in the state, submitting that he is ready for service.

"Akwa ibom people should take note that no godfather wants his successor to be greater than him because he (the godfather) wants to permanently reign. For me, I have decided that the Royal Fathers will be my political fathers because they are the closest to the people and well informed about the problems of their respective areas. "

While pleading with the people not to mortgage another 8 years into the hands of those who do not mean well for the State, Coffie stressed that he is ready to serve and will govern the state with the fear of God.

In total contrast to the much talked about numerous industries in Akwa Ibom, the governorship Candidate of ACCORD in the oil rich State, Engr. (Dr.) Emem Coffie, FNICE, COREN, FIMC, FICEN, FIMS, said they are all media hype.

Hear him: “For 36 years since the State was created, Akwa Ibom does not any viable industry with all the money we get.

“You hear of fantastic revenue and what we earn every month, the IGR is about N42 billion, derivatives are there, yet no much progress.”

Coffie made the disclosure over the weekend, while receiving an award from the Yoruba Council Worldwide and its affiliate groups represented by the President, Mr Aare Hassan.

He assured that when elected by the good people of Akwa Ibom on the March 11 polls, he will ensure social security for the residents of the state and also address unemployment, corruption and create a free and egalitarian society for all.

Coffie said: “I am honoured and grateful for this award. I am happy to be associated with your group and I want to work with your ideology.

“What I really want to do in Akwa Ibom is to start a system where you can have social security, it is a model that is workable .

Coffie said that he would introduce a system where people would not be able to pilfer from the funds accruing to the state.

He said: ”There is the need for an attitudinal change, a shift from the poverty mentality that makes people selfish to grab everything at the detriment of the society .

“We really need to become God fearing, stop lip service; it’s time for the younger generation to begin to see things differently, everything about humanity is service.”

Coffie called on Nigerians to shun religious and ethnic sentiments and work for the unity and progress of Nigeria .

He said there was no need to run to other countries, rather youths should remain in Nigeria and make the system work just like in other climes .

“No need to japa. You will only be a slave in another man’s land.

“The best place to be is this country and you have to stay here and make it work; those people made sacrifices to make their own work,”he said .

Mr Aare Hassan ,President, Yoruba Council Worldwide (YCW)said the council recognised the good works of Coffie and gave him the award for supporting and promoting development.

Hassan said that Coffie’s display of high level capacity for development showed what he has in stock for the people of Akwa Ibom .

He said: “It shows your heart of service and we are very much confident you will deliver as a governor .

“We, the Yoruba council and our affiliated group worldwide acknowledge your worthy works and contributions towards the growth and development of people and nation building by extension.

“You are a true democrat, keep up the good work, we appreciate your efforts.”

An independent research think-tank based in Lagos, with a special interest in democratic governance and human rights known as Citizens' Participation For Good Governance (CPGG), has tipped the ACCORD Governorship Candidate in Akwa Ibom State; Engr. (Dr.) Emem Coffie FNICE, COREN, FIMC, FICEN, FIMS, to win the March 11 election.

This is the second time in about four weeks the Nsit Ubium born Engineer has been tipped by a major poll to pip the duo of People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Pastor Umo Eno/Engr. Michael Enyong and other candidates including APC, YPP and NNPP, for the State's highest political office.

It will be recalled that, the Isok Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation in Akwa Ibom, had in December 2022 favoured Coffie to win the 2023 election.

In the latest poll which was conducted by Citizens' Participation For Good Governance (CPGG) and published on Tuesday, 7th February, 2023, a total of 72 percent of the respondents said they would vote for the governorship candidate of ACCORD in the forthcoming election.

However, Coffie was followed by the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Obong Bassey Albert and Senator John James Udoedehe, the candidate of NNPP and the PDP was ranked fourth.

“Four questions were asked each of the respondents. They are- (1) which of these four Akwa Ibom governorship candidates would you trust with your vote? (2) Which of them has the best programme for the state? (3) Which political party do you think would be best for Akwa Ibom State? (4) Which of the candidates do you consider sincerely love the State and would do everything possible to fulfill his promises?

"Of the 92 percent of participants who said they have their PVCs and decided how to vote, 72 percent named Emem Coffie as their first choice.

“Of those who are still unsure, 45 percent said the Abuja based Real Estate guru is their preferred candidate,” the independent researchers stated.

On the methodology employed, the think tank said 23,973 people were surveyed in the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom from January 5 to February 5.

“Respondents to the app-based poll were selected from quotas developed by age, gender and location across the State’s 31 LGAs.

“Results were then weighted against the original quotas to ensure State-wide representation,” they added.

Engr. Emem Coffie's leading points, according to the poll, emerged from the respondents’ view that he has never held any political office and has loads of integrity and one who can be trusted to deliver on his promise, indices on which some other candidates ranked low.

The ACCORD guber hopeful, Engr. Coffie, while interacting with the beneficiaries sympathized with them on the excruciating pains faced to buy the product. However, the State Chairman of ACCORD, Rt Hon Martins Ansa, who coordinated the scheme revealed that over 4,500 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has so far been distributed free. He noted that the gesture was to ameliorate the plight of the motorists describing them as important stakeholders in the state.

Speaking glowingly about his party's Governorship candidate, Ansa said Engr Emem Coffie has the best blueprint among other candidates vying for the State's top job. He assured that, with their door to door campaigns across the State, ACCORD will be victorious in the forthcoming polls, adding that Coffie-led administration will end poverty, hunger and bad leadership in the State.

OBA'S GUBERNATORIAL AMBITION GAINS MORE BOOSTS:

...AS MORE GROUPS BEG SENATOR ALBERT TO CONTEST A'IBOM GUBER IN 2023

By Aniekan Udoh

More groups and individuals have continued to urge the Senator, Akwa Ibom NorthEast (Uyo) Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert (OBA) to contest for the Akwa Ibom state governorship in 2023.

The latest is from a pressure group; Greater Akwa Ibom Agenda which made the demands during its stakeholders' meeting yesterday at Drainage View Hotel, Obot Idim, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA.

The convener of the meeting and business mogul; Mr Ndifreke Usen, himself the Managing Director of ParkView Motors, told stakeholders that 2023 should be payback time and from OBA's developmental strides so far, he remains the only politician in the state that had consistently impacted positively on people’s life.

To him, "OBA is the only person for now that can lead Akwa Ibom to a greater height when the tenure of Governor Udom Emmanuel expires in 2023."

Speaking while presenting the communique to the stakeholders, the convener of the group, said the group is optimistic that the Senator has “an unquenchable spirit of development and love for his people.”

He noted that Senator Albert Akpan has requisite experience to govern the State as a former banker, former Commissioner for Finance and a performing Senator, hence the need to beg him to become the governor of Akwa Ibom.

”Akwa Ibomites demand that Senator Bassey Albert Akpan should accept to serve as governor of the State. There is something special about him that ordinary eyes cannot see. This man's love for Akwa Ibom is remarkable.

"There is another important thing about OBA and I want Akwa Ibomites to take note. From 1999 when you check very well, you'll see that anytime we had a governor that was not a known giver, his successor will also be "ònô owo mkpò", he will be a humanitarian and philanthropist of note that is who OBA is and this is spiritual" Usen noted.

Continuing, the car dealer said: "Apart from the aforesaid, time has come for us to beg him to come out and become the governor because the world is changing from oil to artificial intelligence and Akwa Ibomites need somebody with great ideas and vision like Senator Albert to key into the changing world."

He urged the State PDP to give Albert an automatic ticket to contest for the governor rather than allowing people to waste money in primaries.

On his part, the Secretary General of the group; Mr. Aniekan Udoh said, "while it is only God who knows who can become the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State come 2023, one thing that is certain is, That Same God is with Senator Bassey Albert Akpan.

"The PDP can rest assured that if Bassey Albert bears the flag of the party in the 2023 governorship election, the APC cannot stand any chance of putting up a fight to take the State."

“His national and international connection could be deployed to further make the state an industrial hub. He has the link to propel the state to enviable height. You can see how every project initiated by him sails through, successfully.

Reopen Four Point By Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene To Honour Your Predecessor, Group Tells Udom

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has been advised on the need to reopen the Four Point By Sheraton Hotel, in Ikot Ekpene, as a mark of honour for the man who brought him into office.

A statement by a Lagos based group, Ibom Initiative For Good Governance And Progress(IIFGGP), signed by its National Coordinator, Akparawa Udeme Matthew, advised the incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, to use the 59th birthday celebration of the man, who did all he could and braced all odds, with God's support to make him who he is today and order the reopening of the hotel for proper business.

The four paragraph statement reads:

"Let me, on behalf of our members congratulate the incumbent Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on his 59th birthday celebration today. We pray for long life and good health in the years to come because he still has a lot to offer to Akwa Ibom people, Niger Delta Region and Nigeria as a whole.

"We also appreciate the effort of the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel at developing the state since he took over the mantle of leadership from his predecessor.

" However, we are saddened by the continued closure of the Four Point by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene, over six years after it was commissioned by your predecessor, Godswill Akpabio, at an event you attended as the then Governor-elect.

" We therefore, appeal to the governor to reopen the hotel in honour of Senator Akpabio, who is celebrating his 59th birthday today in the state and the fact that he sacrificed a lot for him to be on that seat today."

KEEP PRAYING FOR GOV. UDOM EMMANUEL, Attah Urges Akwa Ibomites

Posted by Francis Adedamola

With less than eighteen (18) months before the Udom Emmanuel led administration comes full cycle, his Special Assistant on Projects Monitoring, Mr. Johnson Attah, has charged residents of the State to keep praying for and supporting the State Chief Executive.

According to the Governor's Aide, "with our continuous support to His Excellency the governor, he will do more for our people and I can assure whoever cares to believe that, the governor will complete all ongoing projects before the expiration of his tenure in May 2023."

Attah stated this recently after inspecting the installation of a new transformer at the Ibom Multi-Specialty Hospital, Itam, Itu LGA.

The former governorship candidate of Democratic Alternative (D.A) in 2019 gubernatorial race who was fielding questions from journalists shortly after the inspection alongside his colleagues, hinted that Mr Udom Emmanuel has invested massively in the health facility to make it Country's best.

"When you look around this ambience, you see a neat and fantastic structure that has been maintained and inside here, there are state-of-the-art equipment that can handle any health situation. So, His Excellency the Governor was informed about the light issues here, he immediately sent the transformer to restore light here," he explained.

Speaking further, Mr. Johnson Attah, who noted that COVID-19 pandemic has taught Nigeria key lessons, including the danger of neglecting the health sector, specifically praised Governor Emmanuel for setting the pace in the Country in terms of provision of standard health facilities, technologies and equipment for quality services.

"Even the blind has felt the Governor's midas touch in the health sector. All the moribund General Hospitals in the State have been rehabilitated and equipped. Local Government Areas that had none have been provided and this is happening because His Excellency means well for our people," Attah noted.

He maintained that his boss has also successfully changed the developmental narrative of the state through purpose- driven leadership, the main reason he said, all hands must be on deck to support the Governor's 'Completion Agenda.'

"It is under the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel that we have absolute peace in this State because our leader is a man of peace, that's why he has infected the State with this Godly virtue. And, if you ask me, I'll say there's need to maintain this absolute peace post Udom's era, that's why you saw us the other day at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, coming from all sections of the State to inaugurate the National Executive of the movement that will lead in the peace sustenance crusade in the State.

He however, called on Akwa Ibomites at home and in the Diaspora to key into the programmes of the governor.

"I can say with all honesty that Akwa Ibom people are happy with the governor because he hasn't disappointed them. He is indeed inspired by the people's continuous support and prayers. I therefore urge few ones who must have been aggrieved because of political interest or something else to sheath their sword and give their support for the sake of this State, because Akwa Ibom must move forward,” the Governor's aide added.

NDUESE ESSIEN AND HIS SATANIC VITUPERATION AGAINST EPHRAIM INYANG

By Bright Assam Jnr

As adults, we have learnt vital lessons in life which sometimes we tend to reflect upon in the course of our daily interactions with people of all colours on earth. One of such lessons is - SILENCE IS THE BEST ANSWER TO A FOOL.

However, in as much as one might be entitled to his opinions which he owes nobody an apology for any reason whatsoever, he must in every respect make sure those opinions remain within personal jurisdictions, but in a scenario where such opinions have the tendency to influence or distort the thinking of others or affects their wellbeing, then such a person cannot and will never said to be entitle to such opinions.

When people foolishly voice out their opinions to influence the psychology of the gullible few, then it becomes imperative to call them to order for the good of all and sundry.

This prompted the need to call Chief Nduese Essien, a 75 years old native of Nta Isip-Ikot Ibiok, Eket Local Government Area, to order over his recent satanic ejaculation against the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Works, which has Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen as the Commissioner. The fact is that, ignorance is communicable and once an ignorant person releases the pheromones of his ignorance with pride, the gullible ones could be tempted to emulate him and in no time, the spread of ignorance becomes imminent.

Therefore, it will be heinous not to call Nduese Essien to order, if nothing, to at least lower the spread of his foolishness and attack on the Ministry of Works and by extension, government of Akwa Ibom State.

I listened to the recent radio interview Nduese Essien granted on Planet Fm and read a news items on the social media with dismay and at the same time pity the way the former Federal Lawmaker’s half baked-truths and vexatious fallacies derided the state Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang which perhaps catalyse the adrenaline to dilute his gross verbal stupidity and educate him a little bit.

NDUESE ESSIEN'S SATANIC LIES:

The short Nduese claims that the Commissioner for Works hates his (Eket) people and has no respect for anyone. Nduese further said that thing that is giving him migraine is that Ephraim is the one who counts the properties to be demolished to make way for road construction, Ephraim is the only one who determines the value of the properties and does the payment alone.

What an illogical, fallacious and senseless claim. Well, it is obvious that the garrulous former Minister is either blind to the reality on ground in the State or is outrightly mischievous.

The truth is that Mr Ephraim Inyang-eyen, has ensured that absolute sanity was restored to the process of payment of compensation since he was appointed Commissioner for Works. Since assumption of office and till date, the Ministry has two stages of valuation; having a private Valuer and a government Valuer who would value independently before the Ministry will come to a compromise after assessing the two Valuers’ records. After choosing the record, the Ministry will then appoint a financial consultant to pay the compensation to properties owners to avoid miss management and cut out third parties who defrauded the system before now. During the payment process, each beneficiary must come to collect his/her cheque or cash with a nationally acceptable Identity Card alongside two (2) copies of passport photographs. If it is a family property, the family will write the Ministry of works that they have conceded the power of attorney to one of them to act on behalf of the family hence giving powers to the Ministry to issue the cheque in the name of the family member. This procedure has reduced drastically controversies and litigation against Government as wrong people are not paid the compensation of others and where the Valuer has built in fictitious names of beneficiary without existing properties, such claims, if noticed will be returned to the the coffers of Government. Here, Nduese Essien goofed!

WHY NDUESE ESSIEN IS PAINED:

Ephraim Inyang-eyen has gone against the warped norms established in the past where monies meant for compensation were inflated, dismembered and shared like the Christmas cow. To Nduese, this is an unpardonable abomination. How dare Ephraim not handover the compensation monies to us the stakeholders of Eket to handle? Does he know Eket people better than me? The list of questions is endless.

With this rare transparency and honesty by a politician in a clime that has no respect for morality and godliness, Ephraim Inyangeyen should be ready to get detested, abhorred, and blackmailed. But how comforting is it to note that, Apostle Paul in his second letter to young Timothy as recorded in the Bible book of 2 Timothy 3:12 had foretold that “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”!

However, no matter the recent campaign of calumny and tissue of lies by Nduese Essien, the educated people of Akwa Ibom know that the destructive media war and demonic falsehood Commissioner Inyang-eyen will never be attractive to neither the governor nor sane Akwa Ibomites; hence they always wave the destructive blackmail with the back of their hands.

What Nduese Essien needs to understand is that he cannot bring Ephraim down, not even his ogboni fraternity cult can. I however pity those who see Nduese as a role model, because all they will be gaining from their role model is gross ignorance, hypocrisy, irresponsibility, and a large chunk of dedicative immorality. Calling anyone nduese essien in Akwa Ibom today, is a cool and polite way of saying that person is MORONIC.
