FamilyAlleged 'satanic Conduct’: Family Excommunicates Pat Akpabio by Assamjnr(op): 8:16am On Oct 28, 2025
Posted by Ubong ASSAM Jnr

The persistent warnings to Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio may have reached their limit as the Greater Akpabio Family of Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area has finally excommunicated her, following what it described as her “satanic conduct, disparaging comments and unwholesome remarks” against the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, and other members of the family.

The decision was announced during a press briefing held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Afe Akuku Udo Akpabio, the family’s ancestral meeting ground in Ukana. The session was led by the Family Head, Chief Ekom Akpabio, who spoke on behalf of other senior family members present.

Addressing journalists, Chief Akpabio explained that the family was left with no choice but to take a firm stance after Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio continued to “ridicule the family in public” despite an earlier traditional injunction warning her to desist from making further utterances about the Senate President, his wife, or any member of the Greater Akpabio Family.

He said: “Regrettably and most unfortunately, she has continued in her tirade, thus ignoring the injunction by the family.
This in itself has brought the family to public ridicule, shame and is suggestive of a family unable to manage and control her members. This has never happened and should not have happened at the first instance.”

The family expressed disappointment that even after assurances from her husband, Barr. Ibanga Akpabio, that she would refrain from such actions, Mrs. Patience Akpabio persisted in what it termed “aspersions and insults” directed at the Senate President, his wife, and the entire Greater Akpabio Family.

According to them, “The Greater Akpabio Family has well-known norms of respect, unity, and age-long channels to address grievances. That these norms and channels were ignored is regrettable. Such acts are destructive and an affront to our collective survival and development, while also being repulsive to family and human dignity.”

Reaffirming its unity and commitment to discipline, the family declared that it would not tolerate any act capable of bringing its name into disrepute or public opprobrium.

“We strongly denounce the unwarranted and repeated attacks on our esteemed son and pride of our family, President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON. We are immensely proud of his exemplary representation of our family, senatorial district, and his remarkable achievements as the President of the Senate,” the family further stressed.

Consequently, the Greater Akpabio Family announced a public disclaimer on Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio, declaring that she “no longer represents nor is recognized as a wife, representative, or member of the family,” and therefore stands excommunicated.

“The family hereby warns all members of the public to desist from any dealing with Mrs. Patience Ibanga Akpabio as a member of our Greater Akpabio Family. It is sad that she has pushed us to this line of action by her untoward and satanic actions.”

However, the family said it remained open to reconciliation if she showed genuine remorse.

“In the event that she has any genuine grievances, apologies or regrets, we request that she should report such to the family hierarchy for a review of our position in line with our customs and traditions.”
PoliticsYouth-friendly Centres, One Of Gov Eno's Best Investments For Youths - Attah by Assamjnr(op): 7:42pm On Oct 20, 2025
Akparawa Johnson Attah, a frontline maritime expert and Managing Director of Calakwa Integrated Services, has described Governor Umo Eno’s plan to construct Youth-Friendly Centres across the 31 Local Government Are[sub][/sub]as as one of the best gifts any government can offer the youth of Akwa Ibom at this time.

Speaking with Journalists and Bloggers in Uyo on Monday, Attah said the initiative reflects the Governor’s deep understanding of youth needs and his determination to secure the future through empowerment, innovation, and creativity.

The flag-off, which will hold simultaneously Tomorrow, Tuesday, at the headquarters of ten pilot LGAs, namely; Etinan, Mkpat Enin, Urue Offong/Oruko, Oron, Itu, Etim Ekpo, Nsit Atai, Nsit Ubium, Eastern Obolo, and Ikono, marks the beginning of a broader plan to establish similar centres in all 31 LGAs of the state.

Attah, who has over 25 years of experience in Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sector, commended Governor Eno’s foresight, noting that the centres will become vital hubs for digital innovation, skills development, and enterprise incubation. He added that by providing such infrastructure, the administration is giving young people across rural and urban areas the opportunity to explore their talents in a modern, secure, and resourceful environment.

The grassroots politician from Ukpum Minya Ward 4 in Mkpat Enin expressed delight that his Local Government is among the first beneficiaries of the pilot phase. He said the inclusion of creative development hubs, ICT and e-library units, coffee shops, recreation lounges, and solar-powered co-working spaces demonstrates the Governor’s holistic approach to youth engagement.

The huge project, according to Attah, underscores Governor Umo Eno’s leadership philosophy anchored on human capacity development under the ARISE Agenda. He stressed that such facilities will not only inspire creativity but also provide alternatives that can reduce youth restiveness and drive the state’s innovation economy.

He urged young Akwa Ibomites to take ownership of the initiative by embracing the opportunities that will emerge from the centres.

Attah also called on the private sector and development partners to support the government’s drive, stating that Governor Umo Eno’s youth-focused projects deserve collective support to achieve sustainable impact.

In a chat with journalists in Uyo shortly after the event, Attah, who has over 25 years of experience in Nigeria’s shipping and logistics industry, said the security fund was timely, strategic, and in tune with global best practices of public-private partnership in security management.

The renowned maritime consultant, known for his strong advocacy on the Ibom Deep Seaport project, noted that with Akwa Ibom already rated as one of the safest states in the country, the new Trust Fund will consolidate on that record and position the state as “Paradise on earth” for investors and holidaymakers.

The Maritime expert, who has been active in policy conversations around maritime safety and development, called on the private sector, corporate leaders, and the citizenry to throw their weight behind the Security Trust Fund, adding that the dividends of peace will be shared by all.

According to Attah, the coastline advantage of 129 kilometres of Akwa Ibom, coupled with its serene environment, makes it a prime hub for economic growth and leisure.

He praised Governor Eno’s visionary and humble leadership, urging Akwa Ibom people to support him in sustaining the state as a peaceful and safe home for all.

He said the victory was not just a win on the pitch but a demonstration of the talent, discipline and determination that abound among young people in Uyo, urging the team to sustain the momentum as worthy ambassadors of the constituency.

While thanking Governor Umo Eno for investing heavily in sports despite economic challenges, Asuquo, urged athletes to approach the festival with discipline, dedication, and the true spirit of competition. IKOT EKPENE POLITICAL LEADER IDENTIFIES GOV ENO DELIVERY MEETING AS ENGINE ROOM OF A’IBOM GROWTH

Posted By Ubong Assam Jnr.

The political leader of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area and former Deputy Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, has hailed the Monthly Delivery Advisory Meeting initiated by Governor Umo Eno as the “engine room” driving the current wave of spectacular performance in Akwa Ibom.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the conclusion of the two-day Project Delivery Advisory Meeting held at Government House, Uyo, on Friday, July 4, Senator Ibokessien described the sessions as intelligent, well-structured, and purposeful step towards achieving measurable development across all sectors of the state in line with the ARISE Agenda.

The former National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), said, what took place was far from the usual government talk-shop. According to the respected elder statesman, “This was serious business. You could see the level of coordination, the focus on timelines, and the honest assessment of where we are and where we want to be. It wasn’t about blowing grammar and rigmarole. It was about showing results.”

Senator Essien observed that the consistent review of key projects, with commissioners, Delivery Advisors, and other stakeholders all present and actively engaging, has introduced a refreshing approach to governance in the state.

The Founder of Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene and the first parliamentarian to represent Akwa Ibom in the ECOWAS Parliament, emphasized that Governor Eno has raised the bar of leadership through the institutionalisation of development monitoring.

His words: “This is the first time we are seeing such consistent, inclusive, and data-backed reviews of government projects where everyone, regardless of political leaning, is carried along. Indeed, that is what democracy should look like"

The Political leader lauded the Governor's directive that all MDAs must respect deadlines and submit to periodic evaluations. According to him, this approach ensures public office holders are alert to their duties and helps curb wastage of public funds.

Reacting to the Governor’s comments that “the change we seek for our state begins with us,” Essien said the Governor’s philosophy aligns with the aspirations of the people for inclusive governance and sustainable development.

“What Governor Eno is preaching is a gospel of responsibility. From what I have seen in these two days, the Governor is not only talking but walking the talk. Akwa Ibom is blessed to have him at the helm at this time,” Essien said.

He used the occasion to commend the State Chief Executive for setting a December 2026 deadline for the completion of 42 priority projects across sectors, noting that such timelines help drive accountability and instil seriousness in public service delivery.

The renowned educationist also lauded the Governor’s decision to increase the monthly allowance for corps members in the state from N5,000 to N20,000, describing it as a masterstroke in youth motivation and state branding.

•••Debunks Reports of handing over to Kufre Inima

POSTED BY UBONG ASSAM JNR, LAGOS

A former Deputy Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, has dismissed reports making the rounds on social media alleging that he has relinquished his position as the political leader of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area to one Mr. Kufre Inima.

Senator Essien, a founding member of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and proprietor of Ritman University, described the claims as false, mischievous, and sponsored by political “desperadoes” bent on distorting facts to score cheap points.

In a strongly worded rebuttal made available to journalists in Uyo, the former lawmaker stated plainly, “I have not relinquished, abdicated, or surrendered my position as the political leader of Ikot Ekpene LGA. That claim is a fabrication by political desperadoes seeking relevance through mischief.”

The senator explained that his attendance at the June 25, 2025, defection of key PDP stakeholders into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Ikot Ekpene Council Secretariat was purely to honour an invitation from the council chairman and to witness a historic political realignment in the area.

According to him, while a meeting was held in the Chairman’s office before the event began, where issues such as seating arrangement and APC internal leadership tussles were discussed, it was clearly stated by the State APC Chairman that only the Governor, as leader of the party in the state, has the authority to appoint political leaders at both the ward and local government levels.

“Let it be known that the State Chairman of APC clearly stated that the power to appoint political leadership, both at the ward and local government levels, resides solely with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. That declaration closed the debate,” Senator Essien noted.

He also gave a blow-by-blow account of the confusion that erupted during the meeting, including a violent outburst by APC youths allegedly loyal to Mr. Inima, who smashed windows at the council premises. “That was an embarrassment not to me, but to their own cause,” he added.

The elder statesman further maintained that his comments at the event were misrepresented. “At no point did I declare Mr. Kufre Inima as political leader. The video footage available speaks for itself. Let it be unequivocally known: I did not and will not relinquish the political leadership of Ikot Ekpene LGA,” he asserted.

Senator Essien emphasized that political leadership is not handed over lightly but earned through pedigree, service, and performance, not through “noise, deceit, or backdoor scheming.”

“My credentials speak for themselves,” he said, listing his roles as the first Parliamentarian to represent Akwa Ibom in ECOWAS parliament, former BOT member of the PDP for 22 years, and a renowned educationist with notable investments in the state’s development.

Describing himself as a “pillar of political wisdom” and “guardian of democratic structure,” Essien urged the public to ignore the noise and propaganda. “I am not in politics for mischief, but for purpose, leadership, and legacy,” he stated.

The heavyweight politician reiterated that he remains the undisputed political leader of Ikot Ekpene.

Entire Mkpat Enin Is APC For Enlightened State Interest - Akparawa Attah
... Joins party with supporters

In a politically significant development for Akwa Ibom State, renowned maritime consultant and grassroots politician, Akparawa Johnson Attah, on Friday led a good number of his supporters in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a move he described as being in the enlightened interest of the state.

Attah, who hails from Ukpum Minya Ward 4, an urban and politically strategic ward in Mkpat Enin, made the declaration at Ekong Sampson Hall, Mkpat Enin Council Secretariat, where the APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, alongside the Chapter Chairman, Hon. Utitofon Jeremiah, formally received the decampees.

Addressing journalists and bloggers after the ceremony, which also had in attendance all the political bigwigs of the area, both serving and former political office holders, Attah declared: "Entire Mkpat Enin is APC for enlightened state interest."

According to him, the recent shift in the political alignment of Mkpat Enin is not driven by personal ambition or sentiment, but by the collective understanding that Governor Umo Bassey Eno’s defection to the APC is a critical strategic move to reposition Akwa Ibom within the national political grid.

He told newsmen that; “We are not here for politics as usual, not at all. We are here because we recognise a leadership that is calm, focused, Christ-centric, and result-oriented. Our leader, Governor Umo Eno has shown capacity and courage in leading this state. The only right thing to do is to follow him to the centre where true progress and prosperity lie.”

Attah, who boasts over 25 years of experience in Nigeria’s shipping and logistics industry, and widely regarded for his policy advocacy around the Ibom Deep Seaport, said his decision to join the APC alongside the entire Mkpat Enin people was informed by a genuine desire to see the area and Akwa Ibom benefit from deeper federal participation.

“My action and that of my kinsmen are about inclusion. It's about access. And we believe that Akwa Ibom under Governor Umo Eno has chosen the right path by connecting to the federal political engine,” he added.

The high-level defection, witnessed by APC chieftains, youth leaders, women groups, and stakeholders from across the entire wards of Mkpat Enin, was marked by jubilation and chants of solidarity as party flags and symbols were handed over to the new entrants.

Attah urged other well-meaning sons and daughters of the state to put the interest of Akwa Ibom first and close ranks around the Governor, who he described as “the stabilising factor” in the state's current political climate.

A seasoned shipping consultant and grassroots politician, Akparawa Johnson Attah, has described Governor Umo Eno’s recent move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a necessary and strategic step to secure Akwa Ibom’s relevance in Nigeria’s national politics.

Attah, who spoke with journalists and bloggers in Uyo on Tuesday, maintained that the Governor’s switch should not be viewed as a defection but rather as a “strategic link-up to the national political grid.”

According to him, “This is not about party lines. This is about progress. Akwa Ibom cannot remain isolated from the centre and expect federal projects of significance to come in. The Ibom Deep Seaport, which is the deepest water corridor in this country, is just one of the many projects that need full federal buy-in.”

Attah, a maritime expert with 25 years of experience in Nigeria’s shipping and logistics sector, said the Governor’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has opened a fresh window of opportunity for the state.

He stressed that with this political realignment, “Akwa Ibom will never be the same again,” pointing out that the move would position the state to benefit from critical infrastructure, deeper federal collaboration, and renewed investor confidence.

Hear him: “Political party is just a vehicle to serve. What matters is delivery. And our leader, Pastor Umo Eno is delivering. His calm, Christ-centric leadership is already redefining governance in Akwa Ibom. Now, with this alignment, the sky is the limit.”

The Mkpat Enin-born grassroots mobilizer also disclosed that he and over 2,000 of his loyalists and supporters had since followed Governor Eno into the APC to consolidate on the gains of the administration.

While urging residents to support the Governor irrespective of party affiliations, he cautioned against partisan distractions that could undermine the state's developmental strides.

The Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government, Hon. (Obong) Uko Umoh, has declared the readiness of the Council to provide robust security around the revitalised Ibom Paint Industry and vowed that anyone caught sabotaging government assets within the locality would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the official commissioning of the refurbished paint manufacturing plant in Etinan on Wednesday, the council boss lauded Governor Umo Eno for what he described as a historic and people-driven intervention in the once-abandoned facility.

“This factory had been lying waste for years, a shadow of its original promise. But today, thanks to the vision and political will of Governor Umo Eno, it has come back to life. This is a bold step towards industrial revival in line with the ARISE Agenda, and we are not taking it for granted,” Hon. Umoh stated.

He said the gesture marked a new chapter not just for Etinan but for the entire state, stressing that the economic impact of the company would reverberate across communities, especially in job creation, youth engagement, and local enterprise development.

The Chairman assured that the local government would throw its weight behind the sustainability of the project by ensuring the safety of the factory’s installations and environment.

“We have taken it upon ourselves to protect this investment. I want to make it clear, anyone caught attempting to vandalise or sabotage any government property here or elsewhere in Etinan will be dealt with decisively and in line with the law. We are not going to tolerate any act that seeks to derail what the government has built,” he warned.

Hon. Umoh also commended the Governor for the choice of Mr. Ime Uwah as Sole Administrator of the company, describing him as a thoroughbred professional with a track record of results.

“This is a critical appointment and the Governor got it right. Ime Uwah is tested and trusted. We are confident that with him in charge, the Governor’s vision for Ibom Paint will be realised in full,” he added.

Meanwhile, the inauguration drew an array of leaders who accompanied the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno. They included, the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, SSG, Prince Enobong Uwah, Head of Service, Elder Effiong Essien, Commissioners, Members of the National and State Assemblies among others.

PoliticsAttah Supports Defection Plan Of Gov. Eno, Says It's For State's Interest by Assamjnr(op): 6:18pm On May 29, 2025
POSTED BY UBONG ASSAM JNR.

A seasoned shipping consultant and grassroots politician, Akparawa Johnson Attah, has commended Governor Umo Eno for what he described as unprecedented peace, unity, and people-focused governance in the last two years.

Speaking with journalists and bloggers in Uyo on Thursday, the maritime expert, who has been active in Nigeria’s shipping and logistics sector since 1999, a career spanning 25 years, said Governor Eno has brought a calm, purposeful tone to leadership and is delivering real dividends through his ARISE Agenda.

His words: “You can feel the difference across the state. There is peace. There is unity. There is progress. In two years, the Governor has done what many wouldn't in four.”

He lauded the Governor’s strategic interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and rural development, stressing that the projects are not just visible but already solving age-old problems across communities.

Hear him again: “His Excellency our Leader is not a loud-talking type, but his spectacular achievements are loud enough. From empowerment to grassroots inclusion, he has changed the way governance feels, very calm man, focused, and above all, a Christ-centric leader.”

On the reported defection of Governor Eno from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Attah threw his weight behind the move, describing it as timely and beneficial to the state's development.

“This is beyond party politics. If aligning with the centre will unlock more federal presence and resources, then it is a wise and strategic decision,” he said.

He emphasized that Governor Eno was elected on the strength of his personality and leadership qualities, not party affiliation.

“The good people of Akwa Ibom didn't vote for him because of party colours. We voted for competence, character, and compassion, and he has delivered all the three Cs,” Attah noted.

Attah, a grassroots mobilizer in Mkpat Enin, further declared that he would personally follow the Governor into the APC, along with his teeming supporters numbering over 2,000 loyalists, to sustain and support the Governor’s good works across the state.

He called on Akwa Ibomites, both at home and in the Diaspora, to continue supporting the administration and not allow partisan distractions to roll back the gains recorded so far.

“There’s peace in our land. There’s direction. There’s vision. And now there’s even greater alignment. This is what responsible governance should look like,” he added.

Politics2 Years: Your Success Story Incomparable, Eteidung Asikpo Hails Gov Eno by Assamjnr(op): 9:59am On May 29, 2025

The Village Head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, has showered encomiums on Governor Umo Bassey Eno over what he described as an incomparable success story in just two years in office.

In a goodwill message personally signed and titled "Salute to a Performer", the traditional ruler praised the governor for what he called record-breaking impacts across critical sectors of governance, saying the administration has transformed Akwa Ibom State into a construction hub.

“Your Excellency, the success story of your administration is quite incomparable. As a demonstration of your commitment to development, you have turned Akwa Ibom State into a construction site with multiple life-touching projects in education, health, hospitality, tourism, agriculture and road infrastructure,” the statement read in part.

According to the monarch, the scale and spread of the projects, many of which have been completed while others are ongoing, offer clear proof that the Governor’s ARISE Agenda is not just a blueprint, but a lived reality across the state.

He particularly commended the governor's empowerment initiatives across the 31 local government areas, noting that over ₦4 billion has so far been disbursed as grants to farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs—while cooperatives and small-scale businesses have received a boost through equipment and funding support.

“Your empowerment programmes have given credence to the fact that you are a servant leader who deeply cares for the people,” Eteidung Asikpo said.

On workers’ welfare, the royal father noted that the Eno-led government has sustained the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities—bringing fresh relief to civil servants, teachers, local government workers and retirees.

He added that the peaceful atmosphere in the state under Governor Eno’s watch has strengthened unity, political tolerance, and safety of lives and property across communities.

Eteidung Asikpo further pointed out that the governor’s “sound performance” has not gone unnoticed, judging by the stream of national and international awards he has received, including multiple “Governor of the Year” titles and honours for excellence in leadership and service.

Reaffirming the loyalty and support of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village, the traditional ruler pledged the community’s cooperation with the government and solidarity with Governor Eno’s future aspirations.

“On behalf of my family, the Village Council, and the entire people of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village in Uyo LGA, we congratulate you on your two-year milestone. We are proud to associate with your sterling leadership,” he concluded.

Deputy Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and representative of Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Bob, has reaffirmed his total support for Governor Umo Eno, describing him as a leader who has earned the trust and loyalty of the people through performance, humility, and unity-driven governance.

The lawmaker gave the endorsement during the inauguration of the newly completed 14.8km Ikot Ubo–Odot Road, a major inter-LGA link constructed by Setraco Nigeria Ltd, which connects Nsit Ubium and Nsit Atai with other neighbouring local government areas including Eket, ONNA, Mkpat Enin and Ikot Abasi.

Addressing a jubilant crowd gathered for the commissioning, Bob praised Governor Eno for demonstrating what he described as “practical leadership,” noting that the road was delivered within just 12 months, a record time for such a major project.

He explained that the Ikot Ubo–Odot corridor will not only open up rural communities but will significantly boost trade, agriculture, and local productivity in both Nsit Ubium and Nsit Atai, and by extension, neighbouring areas.

The lawmaker also used the opportunity to highlight other ongoing projects in Nsit Ubium under the Umo Eno administration, including the Songhai Model Farm and other agro-industrial initiatives. He said the new road will provide faster access to these projects and enhance their economic value, particularly in terms of moving goods to markets.

“As a community, we say thank you. As a local government, we say thank you. As a federal constituency, we say thank you. And as a state, we say thank you,” Bob declared.

Then came the clincher:
“Your Excellency, as you lead, we will continue to follow. And on your mandate, we will continue to stand.”

The event, which drew applause from political leaders across party lines, was part of activities lined up to celebrate Governor Eno’s second anniversary in office, themed “Celebrating Two Years of Spectacular Performance.”

Other speakers at the event equally praised the Governor for promoting peace, inclusiveness, and steady infrastructural development across all senatorial districts of the state.

Governor Umo Eno, in his remarks, said the project aligns with his ARISE Agenda blueprint, which prioritizes rural development and economic expansion through road connectivity.

“The construction of this road is a testament to the fact that we are linking every part of the state to the centre, to Uyo, to Abuja, through road construction and otherwise. We keep linking Akwa Ibom to the centre,” the Governor said.

Meanwhile, the commissioning at Ikot Ubo–Odot is the latest in a series of completed projects rolled out across the state to commemorate the administration’s second year in office.

It was a carnival-like atmosphere in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District as the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, stormed his constituency with a robust empowerment package and the commissioning of key infrastructural projects.

Thousands of residents trooped out to receive what many described as one of the most impactful constituency interventions in recent times.

At the centre of the massive event was the distribution of livelihood equipment, cash grants and educational support valued at over N2 billion, with over 3,000 beneficiaries drawn from across the state.

Items given out included 30 minibuses, 67 tricycles, 50 cassava processing machines, 347 deep freezers, 247 generating sets, as well as several truckloads of rice. In addition to the materials, hundreds of indigenes benefited from scholarships and business start-up funds.

The Senate President, who arrived the venue in company of other lawmakers, said the gesture was part of his commitment to support the economic growth of the people and reduce poverty at the grassroots in line with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Aside from the empowerment, the former Akwa Ibom Governor also inaugurated several legacy projects across the senatorial district. These included public buildings and civic centres aimed at improving access to social services and promoting community development.

At each stop, the Nation's number three citizen was received with chants and praises by jubilant constituents who could not hide their excitement.

Heavyweight politicians, traditional rulers as well as community leaders who spoke at the event commended the initiative, describing it as timely and far-reaching. They noted that the intervention cuts across party lines and has given hope to many struggling families.

For many, the intervention signalled a return to the days when representation was defined by direct impact and presence at the grassroots.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries who spoke with us expressed gratitude to their Senator and promised to make judicious use of the items.

Goddafi Hails Gov Umo Eno's Ghana, Egypt Awards, Scores Him 100% in 2 Years

A renowned tech entrepreneur and grassroots mobiliser, Akparawa Godwin Enang, popularly known as Goddafi, has commended Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State over his recent recognition in Ghana and Egypt, describing the honours as well-deserved.

Goddafi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Goddafi Computers and Communications and a former member of the Pastor Umo Eno Campaign Organisation, gave the commendation on Tuesday during a live phone-in programme on a private radio station in Uyo.

He said the twin awards; the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize (LAAP) presented to the governor by the Millennium Excellence Foundation in Kumasi, Ghana, and another recognition by the African Women Summit in Cairo, Egypt, were a clear reflection of Governor Eno’s performance in office, particularly his inclusive and people-focused governance.

Describing the governor as a “true messiah for the people of Ikono,” the Ikono-born ICT expert said Pastor Umo Eno’s track record in just two years in office speaks for itself.

“Governor Umo Eno has done in two years what others could not achieve in four. These recognitions are not by chance. They are earned. And I dare say, he deserves even more,” Goddafi stated.

He noted that the Lifetime Achievement Prize, which placed Governor Eno in the league of continental leaders such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, was not just a boost for the state but a clear sign that Akwa Ibom was now firmly on the continental development radar.

“From Kumasi to Cairo, Governor Eno is being celebrated not for politics but for real impact, education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, women empowerment and transparency in governance. These are the things the world is watching, and they are the same things our people here in Ikono are already benefitting from,” he said.

Citing the ongoing 7.9km Ring Road III project, the flag-off of the Nsai Use–Nkwot Edem Edet Road with its twin-span bridges, and the 21.5km Ikot Anyan–Nung Ukim Road project, Goddafi maintained that such massive interventions in rural infrastructure under the ARISE Agenda showed the governor’s sincerity and capacity.

“This is why I have always said he is not just a governor. He is the messiah that God sent to wipe away the tears of our people. These awards are proof that the rest of Africa agrees with us,” he added.

He praised the governor’s town square meetings across federal constituencies as a novel way of building participatory governance, describing them as a bold departure from the aloof style of leadership common in the past.

“No governor in the history of this state has sat with the people like this, taking notes and promising to factor their needs into the state budget. That is what leadership should be. That is why I score him 100 percent,” the businessman said.

Goddafi also used the opportunity to encourage other Akwa Ibomites at home and in the diaspora to support the governor, saying the only way to sustain the current tempo of development was through collective support across partylines.

“As far as we in Ikono are concerned, we have made the right choice. We stood with Pastor Umo Eno in 2023, and we are standing with him still. By the time he leaves office in 2031, he will go down as the best governor Akwa Ibom has ever had,” Goddafi declared.

Ekpri Nsukara Offot Passes Vote of Confidence In Eteidung Asikpo, Warns Rebellious Indigene, Others

Posted By Ubong ASSAM Jnr.

The people of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, have risen in strong defence of their Village Head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, warning one of their sons, Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo, and his associates to desist from what they described as a smear campaign against the traditional stool.

In a communiqué issued at the end of an enlarged village meeting held at the Palace of the Village Head on Saturday, April 26, 2025, the community expressed disappointment over what they called a pattern of false allegations and blackmail against Eteidung Asikpo, which they traced to unresolved grievances over the outcome of the village head selection held in May 2023.

The meeting, attended by the Village Council Chairman, Family Heads, Councillors from all five families, youth leaders, eminent residents, and members of the motorcyclists’ union, firmly rejected a recent advertorial authored by Mr. Asuquo and published in The Pioneer Newspaper (April 21–22 edition), where he accused the village head of using “cult boys” to intimidate indigenes.

According to the communiqué, the publication is “totally false, malicious, and a calculated attempt to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Eteidung Asikpo.”

The community disclosed that the so-called clash referred to in the publication was a minor internal squabble within the Association of Motorcyclists, caused by an external troublemaker, Mr. Okokon Okon Sampson, who, without any mandate, stormed their park with supporters to illegally dissolve the executive by ringing a bell and declaring himself leader.

The move was resisted, leading to a fight in which he and others sustained injuries. The matter, they said, had nothing to do with the village head.

In their words, “The Village Head acted with compassion by calming the agitated youths and even provided medical assistance to those injured. It is therefore unacceptable and wicked for anyone to twist this into a tale of cult violence.”

The community further accused Mr. Asuquo of plotting to discredit the village head following the failure of his preferred candidate to emerge as Village Head in 2023. “The truth remains: you may desire kingship, but only God crowns. Eteidung Asikpo was duly selected by the kingmakers and issued a certificate of recognition by the State Government,” the statement read.

It also recalled a frivolous petition Mr. Asuquo submitted to the Police Force Intelligence Department (FID) Abuja, which led to the Village Head being invited. The meeting, which had the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, chiefs, and legal representatives in attendance, reportedly found no substance in the petition. When the matter was referred to the Uyo Traditional Rulers Council, Mr. Asuquo reportedly failed to appear.

Describing his actions as "reckless and unbecoming of a true son of the soil," the community warned Mr. Asuquo and his allies to desist from any further attempts to blackmail the village leadership or face legal consequences.

The meeting ended with a vote of confidence passed on Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo in recognition of his excellent leadership and peace-building efforts.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Trade, Mr. Idorenyin Raphael has lauded Governor Umo Eno for his unwavering commitment to the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the ARISE business support that saw 677 people in Itu and Ibiono Ibom local government areas smiled home with cash and equipment kits.

Speaking to a cross section of Media Influencers shortly after Itu/Ibiono Ibom Town Hall meeting on Thursday, the Senior Special Assistant described the initiative as a "game-changer" for local entrepreneurs, noting that the financial support will go a long way in stimulating the local economy, reducing unemployment, and empowering grassroots businesses.

PoliticsSPECIAL REPORT! How Obong Uko Umoh Is Changing Governance Narrative In Etinan by Assamjnr(op): 4:22pm On May 06, 2025
Posted By Ubong ASSAM Jnr

When he campaigned across the 64 gazetted villages and 12 wards of Etinan Local Government Area, Obong Uko Umoh did not just seek votes, he made a significant promise. He told his people that if entrusted with their mandate, he would usher in what he called 'The New Iman Ibom': a rebirth that would restore the dignity of Etinan, rekindle hope, and lift the people from the trenches of neglect to a land of visible transformation.

For the Iman Ibom people, just as it is in our country, most political promises have often been like rainclouds that gather but never pour. But the former Nigerian Pulse publisher turned Council Boss is proving that leadership is not about rhetoric, but about results.

As former U.S. President John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” And indeed, less than six months into his tenure, Uko Biafra, as he is popularly called, is inspiring a new rhythm in local governance, a rhythm defined by impact, empathy, and serious commitment.

Hon. Uko Umoh assumed office as the Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council in October 2024, and without any immodesty, he hit the ground running.

In a recent interview with journalists, he divulged that one of the first things he did as Council Boss was to order a comprehensive audit of all government projects in Etinan: abandoned, uncompleted, and vandalized. That audit, he said, birthed the Implementation Committee, which laid the groundwork for his gargantuan achievements. He made it clear that it is wiser and cheaper to complete viable projects than to abandon them for political points.

Fast forward to his second month in office: the Etinan Council Secretariat, which had remained in darkness for over a decade, was connected back to the national grid. That single gesture rekindled belief across the LGA. It was no longer politics as usual. Something had changed.

While the projects at the Council Secretariat were ongoing, Umoh's wind of transformation was also blowing across every village and ward. He began grading roads, not just in the central urban corridors, but deep into the rural settlements. His focus was not optics; it was access. He knew that a real government must be felt, not just heard.

Beyond infrastructure, he turned his attention to his people. The people of Etinan have benefitted from comprehensive medical care - many underwent surgeries, various ailments were treated, eye conditions were addressed, and several other health needs were met for a good one week. In addition, Uko Iman launched a job data initiative in a bid to register unemployed but qualified Etinan sons and daughters. It wasn’t for show. It was a real connection to real opportunities at the federal and state levels. From there, the people of Etinan began to see leadership that listens and responds.

Then came April 29 and 30, 2025: two days that marked a turning point in community impact and rural transformation in line with Governor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda. Eight life-changing projects were inaugurated and handed over to the people across eight communities - four each day, focusing on two of the most essential needs of rural dwellers: water and electricity. These included: Water rehabilitation project, Iwor Etor (Southern Iman Ward 5); Transformer rehabilitation project, Ekpene Ukpa (Urban Ward 2); Water rehabilitation project, Ikot Eba (Urban Ward 2); Transformer rehabilitation project, Ikot Ibok (Southern Iman Ward 3); Water rehabilitation project, Afaha Akpan Ekpo (Urban Ward 5); Transformer rehabilitation project, Etinan by Motor Park (Urban Ward 1).

In Iwor Etor, for instance, just like in other communities, the joy was indescribable. The water and electricity projects brought tears to the eyes of elders, youths, women, and royal fathers who came out in large numbers to give their performing Chairman and entourage a rousing welcome. For years, they had relied on streams and makeshift sources. But now, clean water flows at their doorstep. The village sang in praise, not just for the water, but for being remembered.

At Ekpene Ukpa, the streets lit up with celebration as the community received its own functional transformer. It was the first time in recent memory that electricity returned to their homes. Night no longer felt like a curse.

In Ikot Ibok, the mood was electric. The village renamed their hero “Ekwueme” - meaning “the one who says and does.” Their water source, once a muddy pond, had now been replaced by a properly reticulated system. They couldn’t hide their joy.

The same story played out in Ikot Eba, Etinan Village, Ikot Nkang, and Afaha Akpan Ekpo. Each community received either water or electricity - some, both. But in all locations, the message was clear: The New Etinan is not only possible - it is here!

In support of educational advancement and in line with the ARISE Agenda, the Executive chairman recently purchased and distributed 500 JAMB forms to eligible students, with a promise of full scholarships to those who score 350 and above.

So far, Obong Umoh has graded over 80 kilometers of roads across various wards and villages, making long-abandoned village routes motorable and easing movement for rural dwellers.

Currently, Uko is also constructing a state-of-the-art motor park, the first of its kind, and one that will stand out in the entire South South. At the Etinan Roundabout, the chairman is developing a world-class plaza that is fast becoming a central attraction. The once-quiet area now bustles with activity as Iman Ibom people from nearby villages gather there, bringing new life to the space. This development is not only discouraging rural-to-urban migration for entertainment, but is beginning to draw people from Eket, Nsit Ibom and Uyo into Etinan.

For the first time in a long while, the people of Etinan are not asking what the government is doing. They are seeing it, feeling it and living it. Little wonder stakeholders across Etinan, who have seen this shift, in a rare show of unity, recently passed a vote of confidence in his leadership. They have seen the commitment. They have witnessed the delivery. And they are confident that Etinan is in good hands.

In the months ahead, Uko Iman has promised to turn his attention to health centres in the area, breathe life into the agriculture sector and, above all, “stomach infrastructure,” among others. The Ekwueme Etinan will do it.

Oh yes! Hon. (Obong) Uko Umoh may have started as a publisher of news, but today, he is writing a different kind of story, the kind that the people of Etinan will tell for years to come.

Uko is no longer just changing the narrative in Etinan, he has become the new narrative himself, turning promises into actions and restoring the confidence of his people. Again, The New Iman Ibom he spoke about is no longer an idea, it is now what the people live and see daily; a visible shift in leadership, in service, and in what it truly means to care.

Oku Ibom Ibibio Tasks Air Force, Security Agencies on Internal, Maritime Security

Posted By Ubong ASSAM Jnr.

Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR, has charged the Nigerian Air Force, Army, Navy and other Security agencies to find lasting solutions to lingering internal and maritime insecurities in the country.

Ntenyin Etuk, the Patriarch of the Ibibios worldwide, made the call during a courtesy visit by the Course 11 Participants, 2025 of the Air Force War College, Nigeria at his Palace in Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

He said with the advancement in technology, the country's establishment should not spare any effort in checkmating reoccurring incidents of insurgencies, kidnapping, and banditry in parts of Northern and Southern Nigeria, as well as maritime piracy and environmental pollutions in the South-South region.

The Akwa Ibom premier royal father, while acknowledging the enormous efforts put in by the Federal Government, through the military and other agencies, in stemming the tide of insecurity, said further deployment and utilization of surveillance devices associated with counter-terrorism would drastically thwart such crimes.

He appreciated the Air Force War College Course 11 Participants for the visit to the palace and for including Akwa Ibom State in their study tour so as to appraise our state’s environmental degradation and socio-economic development as well as its geography, history, culture and people.

...As Community Leaders, Stakeholders Condemn Unwarranted Attacks To Discredit Him, Others

By Ubong ASSAM Jnr

Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village Council, notable stakeholders and residents of the community have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the village head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo.

Rising from an enlarged meeting of the Community on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Palace of the Village head, the Village Council - comprising heads and representatives of the five families of Ekpri Nsukara Offot, Youth leaders, residents and members of the association of motorcyclists, unanimously affirmed that Eteidung Asikpo has performed excellently well since his ascension as the village head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot in May, 2023.

At the meeting were the Chairman of the Village Council, Comrade Morris Silas Bassey and Secretary, Elder Domingo Bassey Etim; heads and representatives of the five families namely: Obong Eniefiok Paul Peter - Nung Udo Akpakpan; Obong Effiong Henry – Nung Abasi-Imoh; Obong Francis Nyong – Nung Essang, and Obong Michael Jerome – Nung Ukpong; Matthias Asuquo Akpan – Nung Okpo and Emmanuel Pius Okon – the Village Youth President.

Also in attendance were members of the association of motorcyclists in Ekpri Nsukara Offot led by their Chairman, Comrade Ekemini Ekpe Jonah and Secretary, Comrade Christian Edmond, while among the residents was Elder Ekanem Akpan, who has lived in the community for over 30 years.

The community leaders and stakeholders, therefore, roundly condemned a recent “spurious, concocted, perverse, and ill-intentioned” allegation levelled against Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo's leadership by one Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo, fronting as Secretary, Voice of Liberation Uyo (MPCS) Ltd., through a publication on page 10 of The Pioneer Newspaper of April 21 - April 22, 2025.

They clarified that the recent hostility which occurred among members of the association of motorcyclists in the village on Thursday April 17, 2025 was not a cult clash nor was it instigated or sponsored by Eteidung Asikpo's leadership as falsely and mischievously alleged by the said Mr. Asuquo in the said publication titled, “How the village head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village, Uyo L.G.A., Akwa Ibom State is using his “cult boys” to attack innocent indigenes: A call for serious action from the authorities.”

Contrary to that insinuation, the Chairman and Secretary of the association of motorcyclists, Comrade Jonah and Comrade Edmund pointed out that the squabble which occurred among them was caused by a disgruntled motorcyclist, Mr Okokon Okon Sampson, who invaded their park with his associates, seeking to illegally topple a duly constituted interim executive by ringing a bell and declaring the dissolution of the Exco, which was instantly rebuffed.

The officers said Sampson's strange actions triggered commotion in the park as other members quickly held him and seized the bell; resulting in a free-for-all fight and in the process, he (Mr Okokon Okon Sampson) and some members sustained injuries. They further disclosed that he is not a registered member of the association of motorcyclists and therefore lacked the legal right to seek to be an officer.

When the offender, Mr. Okokon Okon Sampson, was thereafter taken to the Village Hall at Mission Road, where the Executives of the Village Council were holding a meeting at the time, the Village Head, Eteidung Asikpo moved with compassion, called for calm among the warring motorcyclists and graciously, provided funds for the injured persons to be taken immediately to hospital for treatment.

The community then wondered how such glaring incident which involved motorcyclists should be construed and used by the said Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo to cast unwarranted aspersions on the integrity of Eteidung Asikpo, by stating in his libellous publication that "the traditional stool of the village headship of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village headship of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village is a den of criminals."

The village council and stakeholders therefore advised Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo and his cohorts, who still feel embittered that their aspirant lost out to be selected as the village head in May, 2023, to refrain from their nefarious activities, as it is the Lord that enthrones kings and not by man's power or might.

They stated, "We know that at the bottom of this hatred, bias and misguided newspaper publication and the earlier live Radio programme by Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo and his cohorts, stems from their unsuccessful quest to produce a village head. One may desire to be a king but its God that crowns. The Kingmakers of Ekpri Nsukara Offot had rightly selected Otuekong Emem Denis Asikpo and the Government of Akwa Ibom State had upheld it and issued a certificate of recognition to him. So there is no vacancy in our village headship stool. Enough is enough!"

The community recalled that the same Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo had raised a similar false alarm by sending a petition to the Police Authorities in Abuja, and when it was time to substantiate it, he failed to appear before the Panel constituted to handle it. "That shows that his intention is discredit Eteidung Asikpo and portray him in bad light before the public," the Village Council added.

“We wish to advice them in their own interest to refrain from these spat of serial blackmails against the village head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo. They should toe the path of peace and unity by joining hands others in the development of the village as currently championed by the village head," the Village Council admonished
BusinessProcurement, Heartbeat Of Governance, Says Fens CEO by Assamjnr(op): 6:18pm On Apr 27, 2025

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fens Properties Nigeria Limited, Mr. Michael Udofia, has described procurement as the heartbeat of governance, calling for sweeping reforms to reposition the sector as a critical pillar of national development.

Udofia, who spoke over the weekend at the International Procurement Day 2025 organised by the University of Port Harcourt, said procurement has moved beyond administrative formalities to become a frontline battlefield for transparency, innovation, and economic progress.

Delivering his keynote address as Special Guest of Honour on the theme, "Unlocking National Value: The Power of a Good Procurement System," he emphasized that a well-structured procurement process serves as an engine room for sustainable development and public sector efficiency.

"A well-designed procurement process is a nation's engine for development, innovation, and integrity," Udofia stated, adding that ethical procurement practices foster public trust and drive national prosperity.

He cited the London 2012 Olympics and Estonia’s e-Procurement revolution as clear examples of how adherence to transparency and professionalism can transform national economies and governance structures.

"Nigeria’s own Due Process Mechanism, when effectively enforced, has saved billions of naira by eliminating inflated contracts and ghost projects," he noted.

Highlighting the broader benefits of a robust procurement system, Udofia listed trust-building, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, fair competition, risk mitigation, and legal compliance as key dividends.

Reflecting on the official theme of the event, "Flowchart of Procurement Processes: Unlawful Interference, Consequences and Punishment in the Eyes of the Nigerian Procurement Law," the Fens boss warned against illegal interference, stressing that compliance with procurement laws is a safeguard against systemic collapse.

"Compliance with the Public Procurement Act is not optional. It is the shield against systemic chaos and a safeguard for national stability," he warned.

Udofia maintained that effective procurement was critical to public service delivery, stressing that when procurement is ethical and swift, it leads to timely provision of life-saving equipment in hospitals, road infrastructure development, and improvements in education.

"Procurement is not just paperwork. It is the heartbeat of governance," he declared.

He further noted that globalization and digitalization had reshaped procurement operations, urging professionals in the sector to embrace continuous learning, innovation, and stronger collaboration with stakeholders to enhance transparency and accountability.

"Procurement professionals are not just administrators; we are architects of national destiny. Through strategic sourcing, ethical conduct, and sustainable practices, we build the economic backbone of nations," Udofia added.

He challenged procurement experts to uphold excellence, drive reforms, and demand the highest ethical standards at every stage of their practice.

Earlier, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, decried the erosion of opportunities for Nigerians to bid for public contracts, stressing the need to restore fairness and competitiveness to the system.

According to him, "Nigerians no longer have opportunities to bid for contractual opportunities. You must clearly define the basis upon which you judge bids before you commence. Every bidder must meet minimum eligibility standards or requirements," he said.

Adedokun commended the University of Port Harcourt for pioneering the celebration of International Procurement Day in the South-South region and urged other institutions to support ongoing reforms in the procurement sector.

Ifim Ibom Ibibio, the apex traditional institution in Ibibio Land, Akwa Ibom State has admonished Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio and other socio-cultural bodies not to appropriate to themselves functions or roles strictly meant for the traditional institution.

In a press release issued on Thursday, April 2025, Ifim Ibom Ibibio, otherwise known as the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, frown at a news report captioned, "Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio: A Salute From The Ancestral Thrones - Celebrating The 61st Floor Of Divine Purpose" published by a local tabloid, the Ibom Nation Newspaper of Monday, April 21st - Sunday 27th, 2025.

The body in the release signed by its Chairman and Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom LGA, HRM Okuku Ime Udousoro Inyang, JP and Secretary and Paramount ruler of ONNA, HRM Edidem Raymond T. Inyang, FCA said the news report was very misleading to ascribe to Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, a socio-cultural organization, the status of "Ancestral Thrones."

It said that it was also wrong to further allude divinity to officers of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio by stating, "As the spiritual fathers of the Ibibio race, we pray that the gods of our land continue to guide your steps..."

The press release stated, "The attention of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, the apex traditional institution in Ibibio Land has been drawn to a news report captioned, "Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio: A Salute From The Ancestral Thrones - Celebrating The 61st Floor Of Divine Purpose" published by a local tabloid, the Ibom Newspaper in its edition of Monday, April 21st - Sunday 27th, 2025.

"Our reaction to the news report is on its misleading assumptions, ascribing to Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, a socio-cultural organization, the status of "Ancestral Thrones."

"Another paragraph further alluded divinity to officers of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, by stating, "As the spiritual fathers of the Ibibio race, we pray that the gods of our land continue to guide your steps..."

"We wish to state clearly that socio-cultural bodies are not traditional institutions under the customary laws as prevalent in our land and are appropriately recognized by the Government. As such, it is wrong, perverse and ill-intentioned, therefore, to allude to such organizations the status of "Ancestral Thrones" or their officials being addressed, called or classed as "spiritual fathers of the Ibibio race.

"For clarity, traditional rulers, as the custodians of the people's culture and traditions, are the gatekeepers and overseers of ancestral thrones as may be so classified. Accordingly, traditional rulers remain the spiritual fathers of the people."

Ifim Ibom Ibibio, therefore, urged "socio-cultural bodies to employ an understanding of the prevalent sacred facts and accordingly toe the path of decorum in all their activities to avoid assumptions that may distort known customary laws, traditional norms and rules."
