Tension is rising in Nigeria’s political space after Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, issued a strong warning to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what he described as the persecution of politicians doesn’t belong to the ruling party.
Speaking in a viral video currently circulating online, the governor warned that there could be serious political consequences if the anti-graft agency continues what he called selective investigations against opposition figures, especially non-members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him:
“If this persecution of non-APC members does not stop, we will declare war.”
The statement has sparked heated reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating whether the EFCC is being used as a political tool or simply carrying out its constitutional duties.
Some commenters support the governor’s stance, claiming opposition leaders are being unfairly targeted, while others insist that anyone found guilty of corruption should face the law regardless of party affiliation.

Ambassador Mills reiterated his earlier comments from September 24, underlining the necessity of transparency and due process to maintain public confidence in democratic institutions. "The United States reaffirms our commitment to supporting free, fair, transparent, and credible elections in Nigeria," stated the ambassador.

As the appeal process continues, the U.S. Mission is closely monitoring the situation and has urged the judiciary to uphold democratic principles and the rule of law.

Civil society organizations have also voiced their discontent with the September 21 Edo governorship election, accusing the ruling party of electoral fraud in favor of the candidate, Okpebholo.

They had been managing salaries payment since Aregbes days based on loans he took....while Oyetola was there he was the one who made a shift from half payments......and he was not owing Salaries....there was backlog on pension payments but thar was on the last year in office with a plan to clear part of it after the elections.....everything was already set and all Adeleke did was just to sign that's why people like you who have no idea what was happening think adeleke just walked in and started throwing money around.....

Judging from the Accountant-general's claim that Edu's instruction to pay the N585.2 million into the project Accountant's private bank account was not followed; meaning, they did not make the payment contrary to rumours flying around the social media; I am tempted to believe the woman is being falsely and unfairly accused by mischief makers.

The initial impression I had was that she personally transferred the money into somebody's private account for fraudulent motive. But I later discovered that she only sent a memo to Accountant-general of the Federation instructing her to make the payment, not into her personal account, nor into private account of any of her family members or friends, but into the account of the project Accountant for the Grants for Vulnerable Groups in the Ministry of Finance. And the memo clearly specified the purpose of the transfer and the beneficiary groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Lagos and Ogun.

While we all know that the law forbids public fund being transferred into a private account, it's important to note that:

1) the money has not even been paid yet (according to the Accountant-general).

2) it's possible she was made to believe that that was the way things are done in the ministry and she could have been misled into sending such instruction to the Accountant-general.

3) after going through the memo she sent to the Accountant-general, I have a feeling that Edu probably had no ulterior motive. She was most likely naive and ignorant of the law and implication of what she was doing.

The investigation should continue to it's logical conclusion. If the money is discovered to have already been paid into the private account both Edu and the Accountant-general and even the project Accountant should be fired and the money recovered. Otherwise, she should be freed.

It is in the WHO list of essential Medicines with generic versions from several pharmaceutical that sell for less than 2000 Naira equivalent in Cameroon. I wonder at what point a cheap, easy to produce, essential medicine like Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid would cost 57.000

Did you ask for another brand? I think you should lodge a complain with the price control for a proper investigation. This is totally outrageous. The Naira hasn't devaluated to the Zimbabwean dollar
