semitunde: Are you sure? Its quite difficult to believe that. I'm sure only few owned gen sets in your barracks for domestic use at that time. There were very few gen sets then which were hardly used. Our gen was the principal means of power, there were even house back then without wiring inside the cantonment.. Lack of power, was the principal reason my family moved out to our uncompleted building in 85. |

1984? Nepa still called to take out the light for maintenance in festac. I lived in Ojo barracks in 1984, and light from NEPA was a luxury. |

berem: olodo! It is only those who finished primary 6 that are given First School Leaving Cetificate. Those that finished from primary 5 or even primary 4 are not given FSLC. Use your brain! Buhari did not finish primary 6? so he HAS O-level or HSC/A-levels certificate? I lowered the bar to primary six, to give your almajiri fraudulent major general a fighting chance to cover his shame. Now you have raised the bar, please tell him to tender his O-levels or A-LEVELS CERTIFICATE. Till then he remains an almajiri quota system, fraudulent major general

Equado: Sincerely speaking, having followed GMB's campaign train through Rivers,Calabar and Delta state and listening to GEJ speech @ his campaign in Lagos, have been able to deduce the difference between the two. One of the campaign is issue based and a good know how on how things work in the nation while the other is just baseless blabbing and criticising of another without in-depth analysis on the issues affecting the nation. One of the campaign speeches was highly educational and a brief schooling in history, while the other has not been saying anything than attack the other and inciting hatred towards the other. I believe that my fellow nairalanders who have carefully been following the various campaigns can deduce one from another,I would not mention names but without sentiments we know who is who!!! What's you guys take?? Most people watching at home were surprised by the president's delivery and tone. Also, he decided to take APC on directly. That shocked me personally. This campaign season will be the best in Nigeria. |

hedonistic: The problem is that perceptions or assessments of "performance" are often subjective and laced with biases. Otherwise, it should be easy to acknowledge that GEJ has achieved significant progress on many fronts - a bigger economy, agriculture, industry/FDI, rail transport, stronger democratic institutions (free and fair elections, freedom of speech and other liberties), etc. Even in terms of corruption, Nigeria now ranks lower on Transparency International's Corruption Index than was the case under Obasanjo.
In the end, the main issue that has been used to discredit and condemn this government is the so called insecurity caused by Boko Haram, which is clearly an artificial problem set up by the North to reclaim power. That is the basis for all the anti-Goodluck noise, and that is why the south south would never accept that their son would be stampeded out of office by such nonsense. If that happens, they would also prove that no region has a monopoly of violence. This is the crux of the matter.
Remove this stage-managed Boko Haram distraction and rate Goodluck objectively based on tangible performance metrics. If he has failed woefully, I'm sure nobody in the South would complain if he loses the election fair and square. But we in the South can see through this so called Boko Haram insurgency and we realise it is a well-orchestrated ploy to make the country ungovernable for GEJ and blackmail him out of office to make way for the parasitic northerners. That is completely unacceptable. |
