Truckpusher: Our agreement with the Chinese must stand and like you rightly said :Anybody that still run with that mentality that the Niger Delta would be used like before without getting a fair share of all our agitations is in for a long haul.
They wanted change and got one ,so we too are simply demanding for a change on how the country is being structured and we must get it . They were seeking a government of "immediate effect" All jokes are aside, they really believed, Buhari will be issuing one order after the other. Then the NASS assembly reminded them, the limits of a Nigerian President in a democratic setting. Change is here, just not what they planned. |

Truckpusher: The entire South West kicked against the PDP just to get rid of a Niger Delta man in power whose policies has refused to favor the West alone but decided to face East(Chinese) Ever since the Chinese came into Nigeria that was the day our problem with the West started and the West made sure that our democracy is being controlled by them and everything boils down to stiff economic policies of strangulation through bogus loans and trashy infrastructure and developmental banks money that would end up in the pockets of our political leaders . By the time the Chinese would retaliate by arming crooks in the Niger Delta to steal the oil ,the economy would have plummeted and create another security problems that would see the Nigerian economy end up on a life support . My anger is that if the economic situation in South West continues and with another problem in the Niger Delta then the West and the Chinese has opened another proxy war front on African soil like they opened in Ukraine. Buhari should wake up to reality and hold this country like Jonathan did before it implodes . The imperialists are waiting like vultures for us to make just one mistake. Nice one Whynotthetruth. Nigeria is a changed Nation, it changed fundamentally with Jonathan. Anybody thinking the people of the Niger delta will be kept in their pocket is in for the nightmare of their lives. Buhari and his aides, should open a wide door of friendship with China, if he wants to avoid massive failure. The Southwest will and cannot help him, this fact is clear to Buhari himself. |

Whynotthetruth: Sole aim of this piece is simply to educate my brothers of South-West who were brainwashed into believing that PDP is their problem, while the enemy within milks them dry and subjects them including unborn generations to wanton debts with no projects to show to hardship unending... How has 16years of ACN/APC rule in Lagos being with the poor masses ...Rich keeps getting richer in Lagos...Over 12years of ACN/APC rule in Osun state has left the state bastardized... So is it still now PDP as their leaders told them through wicked propaganda You picked a mission impossible. Everyone will reap what they sow. The bible says, if you sow bountifully you will reap bountifully. |
Politics › Re: FIGHTING THE "ENEMY" WITHIN... by atlwireles: 1:40pm On Jun 14, 2015 |
Whynotthetruth: Brethren, there comes a time in a people's life when they need some introspection. A time they need to give themselves some home truth albeit bitter at first. A time when partisanship should be dropped in the gutters. A time when that ancient axiom of; "charity begins at home" should be reinvented. A time when some sheepish worshipping of politicians and tribal bigotry should be eschewed for a holistic reexamination of our sanity and ability to remain reasonable beings. A time when religious and political affiliations should not be allowed to determine our allegiance or patriotism or truth. And that time is NOW.
This article is written bearing in mind those states especially APC states who have used wicked propaganda to deceive and thwart the facts to/for their people. Masses in this region are simply smart by half; unfortunately they equate their ability to conjure up sentences as evidence of being smart, but the picture of their emptiness is made too glaring when mere speeches and empty rhetorics of politicians sway them. There hollow thought-process is shown when truth to them is first tested on the altar of religion, tribe, and political alliance before it is accepted or thrown to the dogs. Everything is politics and political to them.
South-West people of Nigeria seem to be the worst heat so far by the dwindling economic situation in the country, thanks to oil price fall in the international market. Most of the states there came from the defunct ACN now APC after the merger. Having brainwashed most of their people into believing that PDP is their problem; one begin to imagine what happened to the economy of their(ACN/APC) states, when most PDP states are still holding forth. Based on their own assessment of PDP, NONE of the ACN now APC states should be seen in such mess as it is now. Remember, states like Anambra operate under same oil economy as them, so why is that state not bastardized economically too like most South-West states?
It is a truism that ALL SOUTH-WEST states are neck deep into debts that will in some cases take over 30years to offset baring any more debts or borrowing by such states(What an inter-generational bondage). Outside, Lagos and probably Ondo state due oil derivation fund, none of these states can survive with the amount of debt they have accumulated par chance price of oil continues to fall. Debts are not necessarily bad but when no meaningful projects are on ground to justify such debts it becomes a curse. Otherwise, what is the economic benefit world's tallest talking drum when you cannot pay salaries? What's the sustainability of Opon Imo tablets? What diversity have these leaders from LGA to states achieved in their state economy independent of federal allocation?
In a nutshell, it is high time the people down South, most especially South-West begin to look inwards and ask important questions to their leaders. If Ebonyi state is still healthy economically, why should Osun state be dead already? If Enugu is still forging ahead strong economically, why should Oyo state be bleeding? If Ondo is still doing pretty well, Why should Imo state be insolvent already? If Anambra is moving on gloriously, why should Ogun state be weeping? Necessary and important questions should start popping up NOW!!! Sheepish allegiance to a political party should be eschewed forthwith.
How can most states in the South-West region be executing projects at ridiculously high amounts? How can a kilometre of road cost a billion naira and over in these South-West states, when it is even far cheaper in the swampy Niger-Delta area?
Suffice it to say, that federal government is NOT a grassroot government. We have LGA and states governments. If we cannot hold our grassroot governments accountable and keep monitoring central government, then our succour isn't near yet. To what extent, has these grassroots provided needed infrastructure and jobs to its people especially in the region under review?
Par chance, federal government of Buhari decides to bail out these seemingly economically "dead" states. I think part of the conditions should be;
1)Resignation of the governor if he has been in office for close to two years( because such debts and mismanagement was occasioned by him and not any predecessor).
2)State workforce should be directly paid from source before any balance is sent down to those state's treasury.
3)Debts of such states should be repaid by withdrawals made from source.
4)Balance after 2 & 3 above can be sent down to such states for any infrastructure development.
5)Such states should not be given option of refusal in these conditions. The masses should be priority here and not the governor's political life.
In all, charity begins at home. South-West should wake up and quit hypocritical allegiance based political sentiments. It is NOW or NEVER for them. Your problem is in individuals not in their platform.
Thanks and God bless us all... Nigerians are ignorant and very pretentious. Jonathan is gone now, most cannot blame him for their poor social, economic and political skill. The time to pay the undertaker has come. The current economic landscape will be here for at least 24 months, if not 48. |

Anybody waiting for a Buhari bailout is living in a fairyland. The Federal government is under the same burden, like many states. Buhari will soon be calling on the IMF, because he has relegated the Chinese to second team. One wonder's if Nigerians are prepared to pay the price, IMF loans demand. Just look at the conditions Greece is getting, then you know Nigeria is facing a grade one beat down. |

kaboninc: I wonder if am speaking to a sane fellow. This is your own statement:
I even thought that you have brains sef.
Why I kept on hammering on the subject of Russian Government's interference in the devaluation of the currency was because I thought you were of average inteligence. Alas, you are not. You kept bringing up "govt banks stopped issuing LOC's for importers, but rather the LOCs were routed through private banks" as indicated up there shows how shallow you are.
For the record, the Russian Government "owned banks" DID NOT issue any LOC in 1998 for any importers except, of course, it was you! Only the government banks you own issue LOC. I hope you even know what an LOC is.
Secondly, the fall of crude oil prices was not the major reason rather it contributed. The spoils of war was the major cost that led to Russian economy crises. Stop deceiving people here.
Rubbish! Remember this:
You see the bold word, and how your statement is an affirmative statement?
So you've turned into a liar now abi or your memory is too short that you forget things so quickly right?
Shssssss!!!! Don't let people hear this from you...... Dam.n!! You just hate to learn. Why is it so if I may ask? Soludo at no time CO-ORDINATED our economy.
You don't even know the relationship between a drop in crude prices and an economic meltdown! As per if we paid exchange rate differentials, I told you to go read up your books especially on elementary economics. When you do, consider this hint: consider the length of time the price of crude was down and the landing cost of PMS within that time. Also consider to price sold at the retail stations. When you do, you come over.
I laugh at you. Why because you reasoning is shallow. Not deep and may never be deep! It is a fact. A Special Purpose Vehicle (Neconde) was set up to acquire a stake in a project. In assessing the capabilities, technicalities and soundness of the SPV, do you dwell on the SPV as an entity, as you are currently doing with Neconde? Or the parties that formed the SPV?
As an analogy, what is the pedigree of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company? or Transmission Company of Nigeria, of Seplat Energy (as at 2011)?
Again, you are not any were close to average intelligence.
Brother, I wish you could tell us how bad the DSO model is for gas in Nigeria.
Hint: For the fact other countries practice a particular policy doesn't mean it can work in ours! You finally arrived at the point I knew this debate would end. Stop wasting your time with people living in caves. I have followed this argument and I waited for you to come to this conclusion. Have a nice Sunday. |

“Sahara, which receives 90,000 barrels per day for processing through an agreement with the Societe Ivorienne de Raffinage (SIR), said it was invited to the EFCC and submitted information to show that its contract was justified.
“Aiteo, which also has a 90,000 bpd contract, could not be reached for comment. There was no response to a Reuters email and no telephone details were given on its website.
“Duke Oil, an NNPC subsidiary, which has a 30,000 bpd contract, could also not be reached for comment. The listed phone number led to NNPC and it did not respond to an email.
“A spokesman for Taleveras, that held a crude swaps contract between 2011 and December 2014 via Duke Oil, said that the company did not owe any money and it would deliver gasoline until June this year to balance out what it received in crude.
“A spokesman for Trafigura said that the EFCC had requested information about their swap contract and it was provided by the company in the past month. Trafigura held a Refined Products Exchange Agreement, or swap contract, between Oct. 2010 and Dec. 2014.
“Despite Trafigura facing extensive logistical challenges in delivering refined product into Nigeria...delivery would typically precede the corresponding swap of crude oil by an order of weeks - sometimes months,” the spokesman said.

zik4ever: It is unfortunate the way things are going. Hope we won’t leave hate and mutual suspicion for our children? I've always maintained that insulting Jonathan, Buhari and ourselves doesn’t help us in anyway. Besides, most of our politicians are just different factions of the same ruling class. Some ex-PDP people who could have been lynched recently, have joined APC and are today being celebrated as progressives and champion democrats including people who massively rigged election and probably looted their previous office. Same thing also some PDP people we are hailing are people even in our conscience we know are election riggers and treasury looters. Ask anyone with inside knowledge of the workings of the National Assembly and he will tell you that when it comes to money, there is no APC or PDP, conservative or progressive, Southerner or Northerner. As we speak, some of them have focused their attention on 2019 already. People like you, should have been shouting this message in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. There is no progress for Nigeria in the next 4 years, my advise is for people to purse their own personal progress. APC and their pretentious supporters will receive full measure, shaking together and running over, what they gave Nigerians in the name of opposition. |
