slivertongue:You don't know that the one percent according to you that will use the airport are the ones with the capital to invest and create jobs for the masses that you seem to be concerned about. if you don't invest in infrastructure that will help you attract the capital like the airport, how will they come an invest and create jobs? the Turkish, Chinese, Singaporeans etc that are investing their capital in Akwa Ibom today, how do you think they could have gotten to Akwa Ibom without the Air port in Uyo? would they have driven from Lagos and Abuja via the bad roads in country and the eyesore called Aba - Ikot Ekpene road or land in calabar airport and drive through the Nightmare called Itu - Calabar highway? Appreciate good things when you see it. this is going to be a great blessing for our state, can you imagine what will happen to the economy of Akwa Ibom when Uyo becomes the hub where most people coming to Nigeria will land first? |
Dakkada FC new home! cant wait for Akwa Ibom Football league. we will have enough football club to form a State league, competition will include 3 regional championship from the 3 e senatorial districts and a Governors cup as state championship trophy! |
Connect the Apron to the taxiway, and don't wait till the terminal building is complete before you do the Apron, this are ways that will fast track the completion of the project. |
I think they should start the Apron simultaneously with the terminal building. |
slivertongue:What? An airport terminal is not an elite investment. It's a basic infrastructure that every state need to have. |
NgwalandAbia:You cant think for us, just because you don't like the construct of South South does not mean it doesn't exist. you are entitled to you opinion just as i and the people who feel like me are entitled to ours, no need for insult. We already tried biafra and eastern region it left a bitter taste in our mouth. we want something new, If the eastern region was that good there would have been no need for further division, if the western region was that good there would have been no need for Mid western region. the dominant groups, in those regions were playing the part that the Fulanis are playing in one Nigeria today. This is the view of the generality of Minorities in both the former South western and Eastern region of Old Nigeria. this are facts and you cant create your own fact. We will take our chances in a Niger Delta Republic where no ethnic group will lord over others. because we are almost equal in Numbers and spread. |
JustBeingFrank:No need for insult. The Abia that you people keep shading is one of the most urbanized states in Nigeria filled with the most hardworking people on planet Earth. the government has failed to build roads and keep sanitation of up to date. The day those basic things are done and Abia state gets constant electricity, very few states will compare to Abia State, Abia is a diamond in the rough, all it needs is one leader who will be committed to reshape it. Reshaping Aba alone will generate enough IGR to reposition that whole state. I say this because i know Abia State intimately, most people that talk about Abia State have no idea what they are talking about, they bash Abia because of Aba but Abia state is more than Aba. And Aba is not a village. it one of the greatest cities in the Eastern region, in has issues just like any big city in the world. |
NgwalandAbia:Former Eastern Nigeria, now there is Northern Nigeria, Middle Belt, South western Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria and Niger Delta Republic. This are the new regions in Nigeria today. Northern Nigeria = Northwest and Northeast Middle belt = North central and other northern ethnic minorities. Southwest Nigeria = Youroba land Eastern Nigeria = Igbo land Niger Delta Republic = All Ethnic Minorities of the 6 South South states. |

FarahAideed:Yes we like this type of "bad government " that leave on ground excellent infrastructure on ground for us and our children to come an enjoy. You can go an enjoy your "good government " that steal all your state resources with nothing on ground to show for it. In Akwa all our governors have left us with great legacy projects visible for all to see, whether you like the infrastructure or not is another story, but there have been delivered and they keep delivering. If this is "bad government " we want more of it!!! |
FarahAideed:No they don't, simply because you say or think so. But now that they are about to get it what are you going to do about it? To everyone that thinks like you am sure there are 1000 others who are delighted to have the stadium. Am sure there were these who thought or still think like you about the Nest of champions, and the ikot ekpene stadium, but that has not stopped those edifice from being built. You folks have to know that government job is to provide social infrastructure like roads, stadium, schools, libraries etc, those are not profit making ventures but provide a bedrock for better society, |

a diving platform like this will help train swimmers and make them competitive in international events like the olympic and commonwealth games etc.
|
Akwa ibom also need to build facility for water sports like this an indoor one or an outdoor one like this:
|
NkanAkpanika:good question |
KosiGee:Thats why i tried to educate him, in Akwa ibom the infrastructures are top notch, we already have a stadium that has been internationally rated to be better than most in europe, it wasnt done by Nigerians, but by World Experts on Stadium ratings. from the experience garnered from the Godswill Akpabio stadium Uyo, the Eket Stadium will Also meet similar standard. Some Nigerians have a Bad habit of condemning everything Nigerian. |
a swimming complex is also needed in the list of state sports facilities, we are a riverine people water sports should be elevated in the state as some of our kid learn swim first before the learn to walk. that's an area of natural advantage |
Akwa Ibom needs at least 7000 - 10000 indoor sports complex like this , which can host all sorts of indoor events like basket ball, hand ball, hockey, volleyball, tennis, badminton, table tennis etc. the indoor hall can be converted to suit any of this sport when it is needed. it can also serve as an event centre and convention centre when needed.
