AKWA IBOM SHIP FACTORY COMMENCES PRODUCTION ...FIRST VESSEL READY, DECEMBER 2020 Governor Udom Emmanuel's vision of exploring and harnessing the Akwa Ibom state maritime sector has received a boost with the commencement of production by Norfin Offshore Shipyard Ltd. The first ship currently under construction at the factory is expected to be ready in December, this year. The ship manufacturing and marine services company is owned by Engr. Charles Udonwa an indigene of Akwa Ibom State whose company had been in Singapore producing and providing shipping services to several countries, including Nigeria. Speaking on the new shipping yard, the Etinan born industrialist said his motivation was to support the Governor in his mission to create jobs, develop talents and skills as well as contribute to the growth of Akwa Ibom state's economy. Receiving the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Research and Documentation, Mr. Essien Ndueso and his team at the shipyard sited at Ikot Ukpong in Oruk Anam, he said his vision is to make Nigeria, through Akwa Ibom to become a major player in the ship manufacturing industry. He said his factory which is still expanding, is expected to churn out Made in Nigeria sea vessels for Nigeria's maritime sector and offshore operations as well as pleasure rides. "I am here to help establish Nigeria as a ship building country. We are here to create opportunities. "As we speak, we have over 70 people earning salaries in this place. Nigeria has to establish itself as a ship building country, and that's what we are doing here. "So far we've sunk 2 Million dollars on the ground, sand filling and stone filling this place. Before we finish here, about 20 million dollars would have been spent developing this place. He said the stretch of road, Ikot Abasi - Port Harcourt Expressway was within the recently approved Liberty Free Trade Zone and commended Governor Emmanuel for his support to their operations. "We are here to stay. Other multinational companies are also going to establish along the same stretch. But we need government to help us subdue militancy so that development would come. "It was Governor Udom Emmanuel who called me in Singapore to come and start the business in the state, before his call came, I had invitations from several other parts of Nigeria but I chose my state. Also speaking, the Operations Manager of the company, Mr. Ekpoafia Maxwell who hails from the operational community, explained that the ship factory hopes to create thousands of job opportunities in no distant time with the propose building of six more ship factories at the present location. Other workers at the factory commended the Governor for the industrial revolution in the state, and thanked the company for the opportunities they have been offered to be more responsible for themselves. Reacting, the Governor's aide Mr Essien Ndueso commended Engr. Udonwa for keying into the Governor's completion agenda programme which he said encapsulates maritime development, rural development and job creation. He noted that the Shipyard and other industries which are about to spring up in the 50,000 hectares Liberty Free Trade Zone would open up sustainable business opportunities in Akwa Ibom, and urged the host communities to give the investors the necessary cooperation and support.

money for good schools, hospitals, salaries and jobs that lagosians would have had has been packed in bullion vans to build a mansion by the master thief. |
lagos money. |
If obiano was serious about building an airport why wait till the end of your tenure? This guy will not complete this project by the end of his tenure. He is just playing to the gallery with this project. He has been building the convention centre since the beginning of his tenure till date the project has not yet reached roofing level. Not optimistic about any project handled by obiano. |
:this is the true situation, broke states all over and fake economic analyst are not telling Nigeria the truth.
|
Good thing they did not report any negative about Lagos or they will be threatened to retract and apologize. NBS lacks credibility, since they retracted Lagos state debt, have they told Nigerians what the real debt of Lagos is? |
There should be room and plan for future expansion of the terminal. |
backtalkG:Yes we love this kinds of "misplaced priorities " We pray that your state achieve a well placed priority. Now move on! |

This same UI alumni did nothing for the four year Obaseki was governor of edo state, They suddenly found their voice once he won second term! |
Ajibel:Yes you are right, the state is trying to build a sport business around the solid infrastructure. The state only sponsors two football team, the Male team Akwa United FC and the female team ibom Angel's FC, all others are privately owned. Dakkada FC is sponsored by the governors supporters foundation, there is a Brazilian owned team in Akwa ibom vandrezzer FC. There are several others like that, so I know if the state creates the right environment for this privately funded clubs to buy in it will succeed. Key is if it makes money Nigerians will copy We all wait till one person succeeds in a venture then others will follow suit. I heard Bayelsa state is planning to float their own airline, that's because they have seen ibom air succeed. That's a good thing to copy. I hope this succeed for the sake of idle and unemployed youths in the state and country, you can imagine the number of people it will engage even if it's on part time bases. From players to coaches, staff, security for venues on match days, sports analyst, sports bloggers, media people, food vendors, sport and team praphanelia etc. |
tot:They always have advice for Akwa ibom state on how to invest their money and where to invest. But this same pseudo intellectuals fail to offer advice to their own respective state government on how to invest, frankly you rarely see what their state government are doing. If this same stadium was built in their state you will see them posting it 1000 times on all social networks forums. But once its akwa ibom you see the coming out with their pained narratives. Clear example was the airport in uyo, they called us all sorts of names and told us Akwa ibom does not need an airport today some of their state are attempting the same after seeing Akwa ibom succeed, so you see them complaining that their states dont need airports? When ibom air came they said the same thing today some of them are flying ibom air and posting pictures of themselves aboard the aircraft. I wont be suprised if this same folks will be watching our state league matches on their televisions when it starts off. |
na2016: This is my problem with these paid sycophants. Some will ask them a simple question and all they will do is abuse the person. It goes to show how unintelligent you are. The guy asked what does Eket need a 17000 capacity stadium for when you have very bad roads in Eket. When you have dilapidated and over crowed schools all over the state? You couldn't give good answers but resorted to attack! It is really a pity!!!Since you dont like my answer why dont you provide the right answer? We waiting.... |
Poloyanabo2:You are describing your people and what ever shithole state you come from. |
Poloyanabo2:Because Akwa ibom people are honest hardworking people who will travel anywhere to make a honest buck. Nothing stops you from coming to Akwa ibom to hustle if you like. Afterall this is one Nigeria any Nigerian can hustle in any part of the country they like. |
Poloyanabo2:Enjoy the right priorities in your state. We are not complaining here. We good with what our government is doing , both past and present. |
Mckhala80:Stop living in the past. Gov. Akpabio era was over 5yrs ago. Enjoy the new era. |
SideshowBob:he thinks some of us have not been to Kano and Abuja! we have seen the conditions of schools in those areas and we know they dont have this knid of facility even the universities in Kano and Abuja does not have a 17,000 seater all covered stadium. |
Uyo Airport terminal will be Lit!! |
Bonatheripper:you mean your primary school stadium? if there is a primary school with a 17,000 seater all covered stadium. in Nigeria please post pictures, i can beat my chest and say no University in Nigeria has a 17,000 seater stadium. |
If all goes according to plan, the Ibom Air MRO center would be delivered in eighteen months or two years. That’s what its chief operating officer said. A statement made Monday, September 14, during the launch of its two new routes Abuja - Enugu and Lagos - Enugu. According to George Uriesi, "the maintenance hangar is nearing completion" at Obong Victor Attah Airport in Uyo. Akwa Ibom's state-owned company wants to make its base Nigeria's preferred gateway for both domestic and international flights. To this end, it is encouraged by the work on the new passenger terminal. The infrastructure under construction, covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, will be able to accommodate more than one million passengers per year. The young carrier started commercial operations on June 7, 2019. It currently operates a homogeneous fleet of five CRJ-900s. As part of its fleet expansion, Ibom Air plans to double its fleet within 3 years, from five to ten CRJ900s. Once that number is reached, the company will switch to other and larger devices. Outside Nigeria, Ibom Air aims to expand its network to West and Central Africa, and possibly East Africa. The destinations under study are Accra, Libreville, Malabo and Douala. https://newsaero.info/airlines/nigeria-ibom-air-veut-terminer-son-centre-mro-dici-2-ans-et-doubler-sa-flotte-?true=3195 wow MRO to be ready in 18 months ! that really nice. |
Akwa Ibom State FA forms State football league https://www.nairaland.com/6158669/akwa-ibom-state-fa-mulls |
Lagos - calabar Rail purely political, Port harcourt - Maiduguri Rail even more political! only kano - Niger republic rail is economic. Wow Nigeria is in trouble. |
slivertongue:Thats good. Akwa Ibom is trying to make it more organized with introduction of championships that these teams can aspire to, and also attempt to make it commercially viable so they are not dependent on the state government. |
NkanAkpanika:Thats why we must inform others on the forum so they can learn its called a forum for a reason, am always willing to inform those who want to learn as i am also willing to learn and be informed, but the cynics and those who knowingly distort fact, those i cant stand. |
This is one of the reason Mr Governor is building Stadium everywhere in Akwa Ibom, Gov. Udom truly cares about the future of Akwa Ibom youth. and Nigerian youth cause these teams will not be played by Akwa Ibom youths alone. |
The Akwa Ibom State Football Association is planning to kickstart a football league in the state, the league will have three groups a premier league group, a Tier A and Tier B groups.
