there is a difference between evacuation zone and contaminated zone. The closer you are to the plant the more likely you would be in an evacuation zone.

Why will the availability of uranium in Akwa ibom surprise you? Uranium is everywhere in Niger republic the French have been mining it for years, so all the region bordering Niger in the north will very likely be rich in Uranium, that why the US govt. Has and airbase in Niger. To secure the uranium. The war in borono may not be unconnected to the mineral deposits of the region. Africa as a whole is very rich in minerals.
The interest of the Russians and Ukrainian in Akwa ibom should give you a clue to what might be buried under the soil of Akwa ibom. The Russians has been surveying itu LGA since the 1970 for siting a Nuclear plant. There is more to it than just the availability of rivers to cool the reactors which is the reason they always give.
There is more to the site than they are letting on.
But whatever the case is Nigeria is not ready for Nuclear power yet because we dont have a Maintenance culture, Nuclear power and lack of maintenance does not gel.
If Nigeria insists on Nuclear power, the site should not be in Akwa ibom. It should be built on the side of Nigeria that always get federal appointment and federal presence.

There is another Akwa ibom shipping Magnate based in Singapore that is building a shipyard in the state as we speak, the name of his company is https://norfinoffshoreshipyard.com/ its great to see this Akwa ibom sons investing in their state. The Norfin shipyard was to be sited in crossriver state because of insecurity and kidnapping during Akpabio years where the owner of the company was almost kidnapped when he came home on a visit, but with Gov. udom bringing peace to the state the MD of Norfin moved the shipyard siting to Akwa Ibom.

Nigeria is long overdue for an Ocean terminal, this will service the oil industry offshores operations, the Ports authority and even the Nigerian Navy.

Wow this is an interesting project. and this is a private initiative, which gives me more hope.

Rivers state is the state with the 3rd highest unemployment rate in the country according to NBS.
Rivers state need jobs, not building judge's quarters. Anyone who rises to the position of a judge in any state in Nigeria is not a common Nigerian , with a judge's salary they can build mansions for themselves without government intervention.
This is the governor playing to the gallery. This is Akin to the governor building houses for his commissioners some of whom can afford mansions bigger than anything the state government can build for them.
It's time for Gov. Wike to focus on rivers unemployed youths and do something for those who actually need help and not those who can help themselves.

Some hype doesn't make sense. Every State in the niger delta have the capacity of supplying 24/7 power for their people. But the national grid will not allow that.

Even some states in the north can do that as well. The total of 381MW generated from the 2 power plants in AKS is still very small compared to what states like Rivers, Delta, Abia, Niger and Taraba generates. These states generates over 1000MW each.

What a mofo, why dont you list the power plants and their capacity, am talking about a state Government owned and operated power plant and you are mentioning FG and private power stations.
