this analysis only takes cognisance of sperm quatity as a property of good sperm. apart from the quantity( the count), which is responsible for the sinking of the sperm in water, other properties include the sperm mobility, liquifaction time, morphology( ideal is sperm with 1head and 1tail) and so on..so even if you having very large sperm quantity(count) that can sink to the bottom of water with the speed of light, it doesnt gurantee fertility as all other properties has to b met..

the test result( especially microbiological tests) . for example a patient presents with bleeding through orifices, fever of which other causes as been excluded and history of rat bite who has the time to wait for one yeye lab result that can take almost a week( wen my patient has days to live if I don't intervene) before I rescuscitate and probably start emperical treatment for lassa fever wen I know am more dan 90% certain dat the test result wud agree with my clinical suspicion...
oga even in the lab, interpretation of results is done by pathologist..there is a reason for that...I can remember a time wen a patient was sent to a peripheral hospital for a test...the lab scientist submitted a result of haemoglobin con. of 8 g/dl and for same patient(pregnant woman who was a primigravida)packed cell volume of 44%...now such a result wud never leave that lab for submission had it been it was reviewed by a pathology...
oga pls stop qoutin and giving us history and theories..you and I know how these things work globally( that is if you are practicing already)

Actually it is the Scientists that educate physicians on the value and interpretation of most high complexity tests. I'm not talking about MP and Widal that you get any road side person to run in your dirty side labs without Quality control. Go and read the D.CLS curriculum of the United States.

I'm talking about investigations like Alpha feto protein, cortisol assay, CEA assay, CKMB markers, Troponin Assays, Allergy panels, Australia antigen, Transferrin assay, apolipoproteins, Bence-jones etc. Many Nigerian physicians don't know the validity of these investigations, it sounds like rockets to some of them when you are not talking about malaria and typhoid test.

There are more than 18,000 tests and investigations and the Medical Scientists are the professionals who are grounded and specialized in them. Take that to the bank.

am highly disappointed with this comment of yours..I was hoping to hear very 'complex' tests that you claim u perform in the lab only for you to be saying AFP, transferin assays, cardiac troponin, creatinin kinase....
let's be serious do you know the indications for this test you just mentioned? what test would you carry out when a toddler comes with retinoblastoma? or even stomach pain? u think its just by doin the tests? more than 80% of the tests you do in the lab are been done by machines ranging from e/u/cr , and so on...something that a lab technician can do when trained: press dis red button button and press that green one after 5 minute..the professionalism comes in interpreting the results in carrying out operations like stem cell transplant and bone marrow replacement which is done by pathologist
do u know dat most of the times before most lab results comes out doctors av started treatment already which in most times patients get well? sir do we have labs in the rural areas, don't patients get cured there without ur lab result? laboratory is just for confirmation, more dan 90% of diagnosis can b obtained from a good history and thorough clinical examination..

we have two MBs exams..1st and 2nd MB..
1st MB is taken in 300l comprises of anatomy, biochemistry Nd physiology.. for each of these courses, you wil write MCQ, Essay, practical and viva( orals)..in my scul, wen u pass the 3 courses ( minimum score of 50) u wil b promoted to the next class(400l) , if u pass 2 u wil resit the subject u failed..if u fail 2 courses or u fail the 3, u wil repeat the class( u wil b withdrawn if u fail 2 again after repeating.)
2nd MB is taken in 400l and comprises the Almighty 3-in-one pathology ( CHEM path, histo path and haematology), microbiology and pharmacology..pattern of exam, mode of pass, repeat, and withdrawal is same with the 1st MB I explained above

the kit is very specific for HIV( though not too sensitive) meaning, wen it tells u dat u don't av HIV, its pretty reliable and trusted but wen it shows dat u av HIV, its not confirmatory as more advance test needs to b done..so if ur kit tells u u don't av, its most likely that you truly don't av its accurate..
your girlfriend is quite matured and understanding.. u handleed urs very well and I surely learn a tin or more from wat u just typed..tnx

this is totally different from what those articles claim. Your focus is on environment, which also has a huge influence on intelligence in its diverse forms.

They say intelligence is genetically transmitted in the X-chromosome and so it comes from the mother (that's funny considering that everyone has an X, and so men contibute an X to their daughters). The original article even went on to state that men are 30% more likely to develop mental/learning disorders and then attributed it the fact that they have just one X-chromosome.

it depends on the immunity of the person in question.. if she is avin a very strong defense system to Mount an antibody reaction, then by 3 months maximally the normal HIV kit test should be able to detect if she is positive or not. but there ar more sophisticated procedures that can detect ur girls status within a week..but its not readily available and its expensive..
