The wife of a true soldier, the wife of a great man of valor, the wife of the peoples hero, even at death we respect you and your tenacity of purpose, you stood by your husband all through the war,you had opportunity to go back to wales your birth place but rather you stood by the people in one belief,in one strength, fighting for liberation from the shackles of neo imperialistic agents using fellow blacks to kill what could have been the greatest black nation on planet earth, blackism and pan-Africanism became the victims!even inspite of debilitating bombs by European mercenaries, you stayed back knowing that non of those bombs can hold back the time, non of those bombs can stop an idea whose time has come. May your sacrifices and the blood of all the saints who died during and after the war, waters the trees of freedom. The sun will forever rise from the East,so help us God.RIP your excellency,Mrs Phillip Effiong! |
Inspite of the obvious fact that oil is not in commercial quantity in that region, these lazy dreamers wake up dreaming 'Oyel'...audio Oyel |
This country is full of shit and unapologetic regional leaders, when the incompetent Buhari was the president, billions where spent in exploring oil in Bauchi,Gombe et all and the result was nothing more than a mischievious act.Along came the ethnic jingoist Tinubu and all of a sudden our limited resources will be plunged into exploring for non existent oil in Ogun. How about all the noise about Lagos 'Oyel'.Its a pity we stopped having nationalistic leaders as soon as Obasanjo-Yaradau-GEJ left the stage and all APC can offer are unrepentant ethnic chalatans. I spit! |
...and yet the president told us he defeated boko haram in one year.Audio everywhere! |
The tragedy called Nigeria...i guess they knew these religious zealots all along but the body language of the powers that be in the past years, means they wont go after them however there is a new sheriff in town and the culprits were apprehended. No evil done under the sun will go unaccounted for,no matter how long it takes either here on earth on hereafter. |
JohnnA1:Why are you always quick to anger,he made a salient point. |
On a Iighter note, imagine having a court case in Lagos as a non Yoruba...your guess is as good as mine!Parapo court. |
To say the least,i am totally disappointed in Tinubu and his media team,of all people,is half-baked Reno Omokri that is doing their dirty Job for them.A man regarded as a national clown, that is only good for comic relief,he is trying so hard to justify his pay, even the national security adviser Nuhu Ribadu had to invite the fugitive to Nigeria inother to legitimize him. This present government is so cheap and lacks the finesse of an average Nigeria leadership.I can't imagine any intelligent leader using a punk like Reno,he only ends up demarketing the present government. Imagine that IMO state has been under the tight grip of IPOB and he never felt it right to blame the supreme court APC governor of IMO State but as soon as there was one attack in Abia state,he is now calling out governor Alex Otti of Abia state and Peter Obi.This is the price of employing half baked, archaic, crude, unrefined, childish and unintelligent individual to be your online janitor. |
This is how cheap life has become in Nigeria...May her soul and that of her dad rest in peace.Amen! |
Even the Nairaland MODs are culpable, they are so quick to take the statement of that government sponsored charlatan Okechukwu Isigozuro to the frontpage even when they know that it does not represent the opinion of Ndigbo....and ofcourse the Lagos-Ibadan parapo brown envelope media will keep publishing his press releases.Little wonder they are referred to as 'press Boys' by western media. |
FG keep playing ping-pong with labour!Labour must bite and bite very hard, you have the support of the masses. |
Dpharisee:Even when the MODs knows that Okechukwu Isiguzoro is not of Ohaneze, they keep pushing his statements to the frontpage to score cheap goals....seriously Nigerian problem is endemic, they little positions we hold,we miss use it.Nobody wants to do good, just imagine the MODs. |
Truer words have never been used!kudos to NNPP. |
benuejosh:You actually sound childish, you want to throw your weight around in a forum where you can't ascertain who is who....Bill Gate we salute you!Your country is going down the drain and all you do is sycophancy because of crumbs from the table of your oppressors.A novelist once tagged people like you 'slaves that loves their chain'. |
This government sponsored charlatan Okechukwu, that has nothing to do with Ohaneze but issues out statements on behalf of his sponsores that are begging for endorsement from every quarter. We all know that the nitwit that issued the statement is akin to the fake bishops that endorsed Tinubu before the elections. Any statement that is not from Iwuanyanwu led Ohaneze Ndigbo is null and void. |
Is it tested and trusted, how safe?....Sanwolou and his gang should be using it for the main time,i want to check something. |
Jayhome24:We are igbos,we are strong will,we fight for what we believe in,even if is with the last drop of our blood,we dont live on opinion,we live on conviction. Its a cultural thing, woe to those who hates our guts, our antagonist are our helpers. We have a cultural advantage over others, when they squeeze others, they fold but when they squeeze us,we focus. |
opamoses1:...is that the reason why your governor intentionally and consistently target people from other regions in his selective demolishment.Your people cannot grow bigger by bringing others down. |
SuperEagles:Olodo the joke is on you....Kano voted NNPP! |
thatsleepboy1:we know you are not Igbo,we know the slippery tribe that makes statements cowardly pretending to be others. |
BarrElChapo:waooh...i didnt know you are 'God',you even know that Idahosa is rotting in hell!some of you should be careful how you talk, you may place curses on yourself. |
Bullet01:Olodo how is it a balanced equation,if it were to be 14 newly appointed directors, about 8 or 9 will be Yorubas but now out of the 14 sacked directors,Yorubas are only 2 while Igbos that hardly ever get any appointment from the serial looting drug Lord got 5 disengagement.Your Yoruba president is a shame to this nation, while Wole Soyinka should hide his face in shame....i spit! |
sleek214:keep quiet, never in the history of Nigeria have we witnessed this level of Outright nepotism, its a shame that APC can only offer pain, anguish, sorrow and hunger to Nigerians.Never in the history of Nigeria, have Nigerians been so divided on ethnic line.Buhari and Tinubu combined may take Nigeria 100yrs back. Its a shame that these two characters are the best APC can offer. |
SoNature:well said! |
Given the right environment,Nigerians perform very well in whatever they strive for. They are the leading black nation in almost all fields of endeavor in the diaspora. |
97 Medical Doctors Graduate from Harvard, 46 were Nigerians. News Editor By News Editor June 20, 2020 2 12287 97 Medical Doctors Graduate from Harvard, 46 were Nigerians. Nigerians especially the Igbos excel abroad because they get the right chance and conditions to pursue their destiny. This will equally happen to every Nigeria at home if our leaders are there for the people. Over the weekend the prestigious Harvard University saw the graduation of 97 medical doctors and 46 of them were Nigerians. This news did not go viral because it was no crime! We still have reasons to make good news. You see how our government through misrule has placed the “Giant of Africa to be the mockery of Africa” Of the 27 awards of excellence given at the prestigious institutions graduation ceremony, 16 were claimed by Nigerian graduates- There is no doubt that Nigeria is truly blessed with a crop of young, vibrant and talented minds that continue to exhibit excellence in any part of the world where they find themselves. Such is the case of 46 Nigerian students, who recently made the bulk of the 96 medical students that graduated from the prestigious Howard University in the United States of America (USA). Even more interesting is the fact that out of 26 awards of excellence that were given out at the institutions graduation ceremony, 16 were claimed by hardworking and well-deserving Nigerian students. An elated Honorable Abike Dabiri-Erewa shared the news on her social media page. We will recall that President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2018, appointed Abike Dabiri-Erewa as the first chairman and chief executive officer of the National Diaspora Commission. Ms. Dabiri-Erewa, was a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos from 2003-2015. Then Acting President Yemi Osibanjo signed the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Establishment Bill into law in July 2017, a development that was widely welcomed as giving teeth to the government’s self-professed desire to partner its citizens abroad https://procyonnews.com/97-medical-doctors-graduate-from-harvard-46-were-nigerians/ |
olatade:So Isreal shouldn't have killed him,he should be allowed to stay alive and commit more terrorist acts,is that your point? |
One attitude i like in Obi most is his humility,in the word of a novelist,he has a way of 'turning tormentors into mentors'. I have never hidden my respect for Prof. Wole Soyinka but i lost some, when as an elder stateman and a noble laureate,he critisized and antagonised everything GEJ government stood for and yet GEJ embraced him with open arms.As if that wasn't enough,he went personal with GEJs family, hurling all sorts of insult on the wife and even calling the wife of a sitting president a 'shippopotamus',and i thought that was the height of rascalism, obviously where some unguided youths learnt how to insult leaders. Then along came Peter Obi and it seems Wole was highered to almost always attack Peter Obi against a known serial certificate forger, whom has lots of baggages to deal with. All of a sudden Wole lost his voice, agreed,he owes Tinubu some gratitude, for watching his back when as a co member of NADECO during Abachas regime and afterwards the financial assistance granted to him. It seems Wole has now choosen the part of ignominy,he now stands the risk of losing all he has achieved as a human right crusader, indeed 'the man died'in all who keeps quiet in a period of social injustices, pronounced corruption and bad governance! |
Soyinka as Okonkwo in “Things Fall Apart” Val. Obienyem Prof. Wole Soyinka is a distinguished Nigerian whose contributions to literature and politics are globally recognized. However, despite his achievements, he sometimes fails to heed that each profession, especially in his writings, has the moral obligation to be understood or keep quiet. I read Soyinka's comments about Mr. Peter Obi with a heavy heart, troubled by the magnitude of his errors. How can somebody say Obi was not qualified to contest the Presidency? Anyone in Nigeria who does not understand or pretends not to understand that the Obidient movement is a spontaneous response to the country's problems is out of touch with reality. With the prevailing situation in the country, more of similar movements will surely emerge. Who is happy with Nigeria as it presently is? It is a sort of we-they group, made up of the oppressed and oppressors. Obidients are the oppressed Nigerians, which we thought Soyinka would have sealed his activism by identifying with. During the lead-up to the 2023 Presidential election, Soyinka criticized Obi’s running mate, Sen. Yusuf Datti, and proposed a debate with him or any designated representative. In response, some of us arranged for Prof. Okey Ikechukwu to serve as the delegate for that purpose. Our rationale was straightforward: Ikechukwu, renowned for his civil discourse, would convey the essential points without resorting to provocative language. Even when his statements deliver a decisive impact(Knock-out-blow), they do not leave behind a trail of hostility. This scenario reminded me of a symposium during my seminary days. We invited the elderly Mr. Sylvester Udunni to deliver the keynote address. Our teachers, led by Mr. Collins Okeke (now a priest), were eager to challenge him with their fresh philosophical insights, being newly minted from philosophical studies and eager to showcase their erudition. However, after Mr. Udunni finished his paper, he excused himself and left before any discussion began. The philosophical pundits were left with Mr. Borbert Oguegbu (Wasky of Nollywood) to spar with. We thoroughly enjoyed the lively debate and applauded the arguments like sturdy blows at the Olympics. However, Ikechukwu is a seasoned speaker and would take on anyone, however acclaimed, in an intellectual joust. When we presented our debate plans to Mr. Obi, he laughed and asked if Prof. Okey Ikechukwu was aware of the arrangement. Misunderstanding his concern, I assured him that contacting Ikechukwu would not be a problem. Obi then expressed doubt that Ikechukwu would accept the debate under such circumstances. Obi calmly explained, “Val, if your father called you stupid and challenged you to a debate, would you accept? It is highly disrespectful to debate Soyinka—not only because of his societal achievements but also because of his age.” Obi's remarks about Soyinka were insightful, reflecting his reverence for both the man and old age. Having met with Soyinka several times, Soyinka should have a good understanding of his character by now. If Soyinka opposes people like Obi becoming president, it implies he believes the position should remain in the hands of brigands. Part of the reason Okonkwo killed Ikemefuna, who called him father, was his fear of appearing cowardly. Why is Soyinka so determined to undermine Obi? |
It is so unfortunate how things are done in this part of the world. When sound minds critisizes and pinpoints some irregularities on how these incompetent bunch are running this government, some ill-fed and slavish individuals whom are paid peanuts to be online day and night, will tag you an Obidient or IPOB. The effect is that every criticism is now seen from the prism of tribe and reason why Nigeria is constantly and consistently going down the drain.Respected characters like Wole Soyinka is even now becoming clannish....the question is 'who will bail the cat'?i fear for the future of this country, with a generation of tribalistic idi*ots. The 'high-way of corruption',was quickly awarded without due delligence and process, this is an indication that there is more to it than the eye sees...posterity will be the judge. We have been long enough in Nigeria to tell when politicians are upto no good. |
Goodvibes007:you forgot MC Olumo the chief security officer |
I have my reservations with such a building event of this magnitude being held in Lagos, where the tyrannical, nepotistic and myopic governor that represents nothing but destruction,a man whom stands as the biggest obstacle to private investment on properties in Lagos. No reasonable modern property investor would want to invest his hard earn money in an environment of uncertainties and inconsistent policies. More like the reason TotalEnergies gave as why they choose huge investment in Angola over Nigeria. Anyway, thanks to the idi*tic Sanwolu, more states in the southeast and south-south are now besieged by lots of huge property investors whom left Lagos, including others from the diaspora community are now doing the needful. His bitter timidity is now benefiting other states,God surely do work in a mysterious way. |
