The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday adjourned the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, until December 5.
Kanu is being prosecuted alongside others on charges of treasonable felony.
The case was adjourned due to the absence of ‎the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, who said to be attending the ‘All Judges’ Conference’ being held at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja.

Enugu, nicknamed the “coal city” is the capital of Enugu state in South-Eastern Nigeria. The city is popular for its cuisine, robust industries and of course, the local palm wine. Despite this, there’s a lot many people don’t know about Enugu. But of course, it’s never too late to learn.

1. The Meaning of Enugu

The name Enugu is derived from two igbo words, “Énú Ụ́gwụ́” which mean “top of the hill or mountain”. The name obviously denotes the city’s geography which is naturally decorated with rolling hills and valleys. The city was named after “Enugu Ngwo” under which coal was discovered. Enugu is inhabited majorly by the Nike subgroup of the Igbo people. “ndi Nike” in Igbo language means “those with strength or power”.


2. How did Enugu Become “The Coal City”
The Europeans commissioned Albert Ernest Kitson to lead an exploration in 1903 to find mineral resources in the area. In 1909 Coal was discovered in Enugu at the Udi Hills and this led to the construction of the Eastern Railway to transport coal to the port at Port Harcourt
Enugu was then developed by the Europeans to become one of the few West African cities with a European touch. Enugu was declared the capital of the Eastern Region after Nigeria’s independence in 1960 having previously served as the administrative capital of the same region from 1938 till independence.

3. Enugu Was Briefly the Capital City of A Country

The city also served as the “capital of Igboland” known as the Republic of Biafra in 1967. The Biafran capital was moved to Umuahia after the Nigerian Armed forces captured Enugu. In 1991, the old Anambra state was divided into two to create Enugu and Anambra State. Enugu remained the capital of the new Enugu State created by Ibrahim Babangida’s military regime.


4. The Best Time to Visit Enugu

Enugu city has a population of about 1 million people. This is one of the lesser populated metropolises in Nigeria. The city experiences two distinct seasons: the recurring rainy and dry season separated by the dusty Harmattan weather. It has a mean temperature of 26.7°C making it one of the most habitable cities in Nigeria. Travellers to the city are advised to visit this “British Developed City” during the dry season after the rains have subsided.


5. Visit the South-Eastern Capital of Nollywood Movies

The Urban market and bottling industries are some of the industries in the city. It is also the main filming location for the Nigerian movie industry known as “Nollywood.” Domestic and International flights land at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, and the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka is the main educational establishment........

Alphabet Inc's Waymo - formerly the Google self-driving car project - announced on Tuesday it plans to roll out its own driverless ride-haling service to the public at a later date. "We are the first to commercialise this vehicle, to put it into operation, to do demos, to show it to the public," Sapet said.

But while the vehicle can already be ordered, it is still waiting to undergo tests with partners during spring 2018. Its first demonstrations to the public are planned during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2018, with the first shipments expected in July 2018.

Reps Convene Open Forum To Discuss Nigeria's Position On Morocco's Plan To Join ECOWAS

Remeber That House of Representatives mandated its Committees on Foreign Relations and Regional Integration to undertake an appraisal of Nigeria’s membership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) over speculation that Morocco will be admitted into the regional body.

The decision of the House was sequel to the adoption of a motion calling for a review of Nigeria’s membership of ECOWAS in view of the clamour to admit Morocco, sponsored by Bosun Oladele and five other members.

The House in stating it’s objection to ECOWAS admitting Morocco into its fold, said the move will be highly detrimental to the growth of Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.

Contrary to the claims by the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwuni Ambode that Mrs Funmilayo Tejousho’s house was illegally acquired, husband of the lawmaker, Mr Kayode Tejuoso revealed to the press that he and his wife paid a total sum of $1m to obtain ownership of the house.
Mr Kayode disagreed with the Lagos State Government that he and his wife illegally acquired the house and was sold to them far below the market value and barely half of the price has been paid by his family. He revealed that his family got the apartment when Lagos state government adopted properties monetization and redevelopment policy which was started during ex-Governor, Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Mr Kayode disclosed that the house which is located at 3A, Sasegbon Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos was acquired through Debam Mega Solutions Limited and was handed to his family by former Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Budget, Mrs Dawodu. He also made it known that the house was a colonial building with the wooden deck before it was sold to them and his family spent has spent so much to improve the house to its present state.

“Let me lay the facts bare to correct the falsehood being peddled by the Government to justify their unlawful act and outright violations of our right. Lagos State government during Tinubu’s administration adopted the Federal Government’s property monetization and redevelopment policy and this was continued by the Babatunde Raji Fashola’s administration with which we and several officials benefitted including the present Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the APC, Mr Henry Dele Ajomale.”
Explaining how he and his wife got ownership of the property, he said, “My wife and I acquired the property through a company, Debam Mega Solutions Limited which we have interest. The company sought the concession and approval of the Governor who offered to sell the property for #150,000,000 and the money were paid in full on 28th day of May 2015.”
Mr Kayode further disclosed that as stated by the Governor, the house has never been designated to any Deputy Speaker of Lagos State before or after his wife’s tenure as Deputy Speaker until 3rd of November when the house was sealed on order of the State Governor.
“Contrary to the lies being peddled by the Lagos State Government that the building is the official residence of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the two previous deputy speakers before my wife and the two after her, none of them ever lived here. I make bold to say that no Deputy Speaker has ever lived in this property.” He said.
During his speech, Mr Kayode maintained that action of the state government to evacuate his family from their residence is a political gimmick which is being perpetrated by some people, targeted at frustrating his wife and family.
“We have been rendered homeless by the government after days of a tortuous siege on our residence due to no fault of ours but out of what I consider sheer political persecution and uncommon vendetta.” He claimed.
The husband of Mrs. Funmilayo Tejuoso asserted that the State Government handled the matter illegally as proper legal means should have been followed if at all they are not rightful occupant of the house and challenged Lagos State Government to come out with names of 99 others who acquired houses belonging to the state government illegally as contained in the information released by the state that 100 state houses were sold far below market value.
He urged the Governor to order the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force stationed in front of his house to immediately evacuate as his family is being unjustly victimized

This guy is terribly biased. I am not against criticising the government of the day, but if you must do it, at least do it right. You can't be creating straw men arguments, we are not stupid. Buhari is a human being and it is his right to elect people he feels he can work with, whoever they may be. When you come out and say that the overall look of the cabinet favors the south but what you really care about is the core appointments, what do you want the man to do? Is it until the man starts appointing foreigners? HABA? What is more important is that the work gets done. It is high time people stop with this tribalistic nonsensity with government. It only serves to waste time and can never move us forward. People like this dude won't be satisfied until Nigeria is completely fractured along ethnic and cultural lines.

He says Falana was used to deliver the response because he is from the southwest. Really? How shallow can you possibly be? I am not a Falana fan but it is obvious to see when someone tries to make an argument based on pointless facts. Falana is a spokesman for the president. He is in charge of media and publicity and has been responding to issues that pertain to the presidency for a long time before now. Of course the guest is aware of this, but to say that would run counter to the narrative he is trying to push. Kemi Adeosun is not working? Like, what?! Again, if you have eyes, you know she is trying.

I am not a big fan of the Buhari government, but anyone who says that they are not trying to do things right is either joking or being disingenuous. This is the first time in the history of our democracy that the government is actually trying to do things the right way and get rid of those things that have held us back. If you must criticise, do so with an appreciation for the good work this administration is also trying to do.
