It is very surprising but I know one of the question that Every current Nigerian must be asking him or herself is why the position of a Chief of Staff is highly powerful but don't conclude yet get to know the reasons why it seems powerful in Buhari's Presidency.

Before we continue let's get to know who a chief of staff is to any President, Governor or even an organisation.

Who is a Chief of Staff?
A Chief of Staff is someone appointed who plans and directs all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the organization's President, CEO or other executive. Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the executive to facilitate efficient decision making.

The Chief of Staff (CoS) portfolio under the current Nigeria’s presidency is unarguably the most powerful in recent history.

The office gained prominence when Muhammadu Buhari became President after three attempts – 2003, 2007, 2011.

In 2015, Buhari appointed Abba Kyari, a man he recently disclosed was his friend of 42 years.

When Kyari was alive, he regularly made headlines and most were not favourable reports.



He was accused of being a cabal member, usurping the functions of other appointees, calling the shots at will, among others.

It is no fresh news that some Nigerians coined different nomenclature to describe Kyari.

They referred to him as Nigeria’s “de facto president, deputy president, real vice president”, etc.

The Leader of The Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi kanu inlcuding the Yoruba World Congress (YWC) echoed this before and after he passed on respectively.


The 85-year-old historian and writer said it was outrageous that Buhari ordered all appointees to go through Kyari on matters that required his attention.



“We are talking of ministers, ambassadors, top civil servants. A Chief of Staff is no more than the head of the president’s kitchen cabinet that has no superiority to the structural pillars established by the constitution.

“Abba Kyari’s unconstitutional position as de facto president in recent times, coupled with an elected President who is periodically nowhere to be found, has seriously denuded the legitimacy of government in our country”, Akintoye protested.

Femi Fani-Kayode has suggested to Nigerians to throw out all Chinese living in Nigeria.

The Former Minister gave  reasons the Chinese should be thrown out of Nigeria wondering why Chinese citizens were treated with royalty here in Nigeria, while Nigerians in China were manhandled and thrown out of their homes and hotels.

In recent days several video clips had emerged showing Chinese authorities kicking Nigerian and citizens of other African countries out of the homes and hotels over the Coronavirus pandemic.

Recall that Nigerians were thrown out of their hotel and forcefully quarantined in China two weeks ago.

The Federal Government on Thursday expressed disappointment over racial discrimination against Nigerians and other Africans living in China.

And Fani-Kayode is suggesting, in a tweet on Saturday, that it was time for Nigerians to also throw them out.

The life of a female police officer and mother of a four months old baby was brought to an end by the Rivers State taskforce enforcing the Lockdown measures.

It was gathered that a trigger-happy policeman attached to the taskforce pulled that killed his colleague, who was not a member of the taskforce.

The incident was said to have happened 1st. Market junction at Eneka, Obio-Akpor,Port Harcourt while the lady was in active service.

Sources said the tragedy occurred when members of the taskforce arrived the area and began to destroy goods belonging to defiant street traders.

Deji Adeyanju, Convener of Concerned Nigerians has put it very clear that Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has fled from his Responsibilities as Governors are now in charge of his duties. 

He went further to ask where is Our president and Vice President...

Deji Adeyanju was reacting to call by the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, on a nationwide lockdown amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Convener of the group, Deji Adeyanju said the 36 governors agreed to a nationwide lockdown because President Muhammadu Buhari has “absconded from his duties and responsibilities.”

Recall that NGF had yesterday demanded for a two weeks interstate lockdown in a bid to tackle the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

NGF made the call in a communiqué issued after its Wednesday’s 6th teleconference meeting.

In the communiqué signed by its Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, the forum said the call was necessary following confirmed cases of coronavirus in over 26 states.

However, Adeyanju in a statement said: “Currently, there is a leadership vacuum in Nigeria and it’s so sad that it’s the Governors who are now rising to the occasion.

“The 36 state governors just agreed on a nationwide lockdown of the country since the Commander-in-Chief has absconded from his duties and responsibilities.


“Under our laws, the governors cannot lockdown the country but when the president is missing in action during a pandemic, then we must all commend the decisive actions of the governors no matter how unconstitutional the act may be.

Due to the Increasing evidence of Community Transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria, The 36 Governors of Nigeria in a Teleconference meeting has agreed for National Lockdown.

The Governors agreed  to ban movement between states for two weeks as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Chairman of the forum, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, in a statement said the inter-state lockdown had become necessary following a continued rise of in number of infected persons and fatalities recorded.

Fayemi said the governors also resolved to set up COVID-19 committees at the regional level to be headed by health commissioners.

Following an update from the NGF Secretariat on the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, members expressed serious concern over the rising spread of the virus among health workers,” read a  communique issued at the end of the meeting,” the communique issued at the end of the meeting read.

“The governors resolved to work with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to ensure that health workers are adequately provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) and are constantly trained on the use of protective gears.

“Regional Committees will continue to interface with the State Task Force Committees on COVID-19 already established in each state.

“The Forum also received briefing from the Governors of Lagos, Bauchi, Oyo and Ogun states who shared their experiences and lessons from the fight against COVID-19.

“Governors unanimously agreed to the implementation of an inter-state lockdown in the country over the next two weeks to mitigate spread of the virus from State to State. Only essential services will be permitted.”

Fellow Nigerian Citizens,

On behalf of the patriotic and well-meaning peoples of the Middle Belt and the southern parts of this country, I , Major Gideon Orkar, wish to happily inform you of the successful ousting of the dictatorial, corrupt, drug baronish, evil man, deceitful, homo-sexually-centered, prodigalistic, un-patriotic administration of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.  We have equally commenced their trials for unabated corruption, mismanagement of national economy, the murders of Dele Giwa, Major-General Mamman Vasta, with other officers as there was no attempted coup but mere intentions that were yet to materialise and other human rights violations.

The National Guard already in its formative stage is disbanded with immediate effect.  Decrees Number 2 and 46 are hereby abrogated.  We wish to emphasise that this is not just another coup but a well conceived, planned and executed revolution for the marginalised, oppressed and enslaved peoples of the Middle Belt and the south with a  view to freeing ourselves and children yet unborn from eternal slavery and colonisation by a clique of this country.

Our history is replete with numerous and uncontrollable instances of callous and insensitive dominatory repressive intrigues by those who think it is their birthright to dominate till eternity the political and economic privileges of this great country to the exclusion of the people of the Middle Belt and the south.

They have almost succeeded in subjugating the Middle Belt and making them voiceless and now extending same to the south.

It is our unflinching belief that this quest for domination, oppression and marginalisation is against the wish of God and therefore, must be resisted with the vehemence.

Anything that has a beginning must have an end.  It will also suffice here to state that all Nigerians without skeleton in their cupboards need not to be afraid of this change. However, those with skeleton in their cupboards have all reasons to fear, because the time of reckoning has come.

For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state the three primary reasons why we have decided to oust the satanic Babangida administration.  The reasons are as follows:



 (a)  To stop Babangida’s desire to cunningly, install himself as Nigeria’s life president at all costs and by so doing, retard the progress of this country for life.  In order to be able to achieve this undesirable goals of his, he has evidently started destroying those groups and sections he perceived as being able to question his desires.
Examples of groups already neutralised, pitched against one another or completely destroyed are:
(1)  The Sokoto caliphate by installing an unwanted Sultan to cause division within the hitherto strong Sokoto caliphate.
(2)  The destruction of the peoples of Plateau State, especially the Lantang people, as a balancing force in the body politics of this country.
(3)  The buying of the press by generous monetary favours and the usage of State Security Service, SSS, as a tool of terror.
(4)  The intent to cow the students by the promulgation of the draconian decree Number 47.
(5)  The cowing of the university teaching and non-teaching staff by an intended massive purge, using the 150 million dollar loan as the necessitating factor.
(6)  Deliberately withholding funds to the armed forces to make them ineffective and also crowning his diabolical scheme through the intended retrenchment of more than half of the members of the armed forces.
Other pointers that give credence to his desire to become a life president against the wishes of the people are:

(1)  His appointment of himself as a minister of defense, his putting under his direct control the SSS, his deliberate manipulation of the transition programme, his introduction of inconceivable, unrealistic and impossible political options, his recent fraternisation with other African leaders that have installed themselves as life presidents and his dogged determination to create a secret force called the national guard, independent of the armed forces and the police which will be answerable to himself alone, both operationally and administratively.
It is our strong view that this kind of dictatorial desire of Babangida is unacceptable to Nigerians of the 1990’s, and, therefore, must be resisted by all.

A Third Patient of Coronavirus (COVID-19) was reported in Rivers State of which then Rivers State Government has given details of the patient.

A 61-year-old hotel manager, who attended to his boss, the owner of Mingi Suites around Rumuomasi in Port Harcourt who returned from Abuja in February, 2020 is the 3rd COVID-19 case in Rivers State.

The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Princewill Chike, who made this known during a media briefing in Port Harcourt, said that the rapid response team was notified of the mysterious death of owner of the hotel last week.

Chike said that the 61-year-old hotel manager is currently being treated at the Isolation Centre.
He added that contact tracing has commenced and samples have been collected from high-risk contacts, while plans were underway to disinfect the hotel and its environs.

Professor Chike also warned private hospitals and pharmacies to desist from treating COVID-19 patients.
