The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has finally reacted to the disqualification of the current Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki this time in a new look.

The Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki was disqualified by the All Progressive Congress APC Screening Committee headed by Pro Jonathan Ayuba for defective Certificate.

Mr Obaseki has said that he will not Appeal the outcome of the Screening.

Although there are reports that Godwin Obaseki has joined the People Democratic Party PDP.

Meanwhile Adams Oshiomhole in a special Media Interview with Channels Television said the decision was subject to appeal.

“I can’t comment on it now,” Oshiomhole said. “We are just following our party constitution. We have a screening committee, they turned out a report. And the report is subject to the appeal committee for anyone who chooses to appeal against the findings of the screening committee.

“The purpose of the screening is to take nothing for granted. And until they go through the appeal process, I as the National Chairman cannot comment on it.”

It may interest you to know that Nigerian Former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke is a citizen of Commonwealth of Dominican Republic.

Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke plotted and secured a foreign country’s citizenship and political appointment in order to secure immunity from prosecution.

Diezani carefully planned and obtained the citizenship of the Commonwealth of Dominican Republic, which subsequently appointed her as a Trade and Investment Commissioner in that country.

To show that the appointment and offer of citizenship were not accidental, Diezani’s offer and acceptance were completed a few days before she left office on June 1, 2015, barely two days before the expiration of her tenure on May 29, 2015.

According to the document she had perfected arrangements with the Office of the Prime Minister, Commonwealth of Dominica and lobbied to be appointed as Trade and investment Commissioner with effect from June 1, 2015.

The lobby actually worked. In a letter dated May 29, 2015 and signed by Prime Minister Roosevelt Kerry,  Diezani was offered not only the citizenship of Dominica, a Caribbean island but also an appointment as Trade and Investment Commissioner.

A UK court has ruled that Nigeria’s $1 billion suit against Royal Dutch Shell and Eni, oil giants, cannot go on because it does not have jurisdiction over the case.

Christopher Butcher, the judge, gave the ruling at a virtual hearing on Friday, setting back the long standing trial on the Malabu oil deal of 2011.

In his written decision, the judge said the English case has both the same essential facts and parties as a parallel proceeding in Italy also brought by the Nigerian government over the Malabu deal.


Virtual hearings in the case took place last month, during which the companies argued to halt the $1 billion English suit as duplicating the ongoing criminal trial and parallel civil claim being brought by Nigeria in Italy over the controversial.

Professor Nneka Omera-Okeke of University of Port Harcourt UNIPORT, Head of Department of English Studies has died of which cause of death is said to be the ravaging Coronavirus (COVID-19)

AUTHENTIC NEWS GIANT learnt this from a strong source in the Faculty of Humanities in UNIPORT.

Professor Nneka Omera-Okeke was the Head of Department of English Studies, University of Port Harcourt until death was said to have been treated for Malaria and Typhoid before she was later diagnosed of COVID-19.

Late Omera-Okeke reportedly passed on Thursday after battling the virus without knowing.

According to the Source, “We spoke earlier on Thursday and I noticed that her voice wasn’t sharp, so I asked her what happened. Prof. told me she had been sick for almost 3 weeks despite treating malaria and typhoid, the thing persisted.

“So, she said she had been advised to go the hospital. So her son took her there. As they got to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, she explained her symptoms, then they immediately took her to the isolation centre.

“The son said they conducted some tests including COVID-19, and they said the result will be out the next day (Friday) while they started treatment.

“Only for UPTH to call the VC informing him that Prof. Nneka was dead and that she died of coronavirus. The VC informed the Dean who announced it on the Faculty’s WhatsApp group.

In Lagos state, the centre of Excellence N800Million has been spent in conducting 16,000 COVID-19 tests.



This Disclosure was made by Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner of Health while attending to questions on COVID-19 situation report at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Center, Secretariate, Alausa, Ikeja.

He said each COVID-19 test cost between N40,000-N50,000 and 16,000 tests have been carried out so far fully paid for by the government.

“We have so far performed 16,000 COVID-19 tests in Lagos, which is much higher than anywhere else in Nigeria.

“We are planning to test up to about 1,000 people per day very soon in the next month or two we are going to be ramping up our capacity to test.



“For now the government is providing testing free of charge and the government pays about N40,000 to N50,000 per test.


But as we ramp up our testing we are going to try and use some means of subsidy for the test, either through insurance or through some contributions from donors or from development partners to help us to subsidize the test.

“For now the state government is providing COVID-19 testing free of charge and all citizens who needs to be tested for covid-19 either because they are not feeling well or had a close contact can get it done free of charge at any of our covid-19 testing sites on the four laboratories,” the Commissioner said.

Abayomi said the state is about to roll out trial on hydroxychloroquine and that with the solidarity trial the state is participating in, two months from now it should get information on the drug either as preventive or cure.


According to him, the government has identifed the centres to role out the hydroxy Chloroquine trials and was considering various dietary supplements that can boost or improve the immune system to resist the virus.



The Commissioner also said Lagos is seeing a rise in its COVID 19 confirmed cases due to the increase in its testing capacity.



He also stated that government is looking at integrating the concept of home based care of COVID 19 advising Lagosians to present themselves for test, and guide against stigmatisation of COVID 19 patients.

The Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to mark Eldi Fitri Celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja.

Aregbesola congratulated all Muslim faithful for successful completion of the Ramadan fast.




A statement by the Director of Press in the Ministry, Mohammed Manga, quoted Aregbesola as calling on Muslim faithful to replicate the life of kindness, love, tolerance, peace and good neighbourliness as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

The Minister however expressed his concern about the spate of ethnic conflicts that has resurfaced in some parts of Northern Nigeria in recent times.

He advised Nigerians to see themselves as a single entity and learn to tolerate one another despite their ethnic and religious differences.

-AYADE LIFTS SUSPENSION ON PUBLIC WORSHIP IN CROSS RIVER STATE

This may be the reason there is no Coronavirus case in Cross River State, The Governor of the state has revealed that he spends nights at the state’s borders to prevent an index case of COVID-19.

Speaking during a Channels TV programme on Thursday, Ayade said his government procured over 100 new vehicles which it deployed to the entry points to “lock our state out” against the disease.

Cross River is one of the two states yet to have any case of COVID-19.

Data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), however, showed that the state has tested only seven persons.

Ayade said when the pandemic was at its early stage in Nigeria, the state quickly responded “by locking out our state against the virus” and has since then, maintained a firm structure in its response.

Professor Charles Uwakwe, registrar of National Examination Council NECO has been sacked and four top Officials dismissed by  the President of  Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari.

This was contained in a letter dated May 11, 2020 signed by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono, on behalf of the Education Minister by the Head, Information and Public Relations Division, NECO, Mr. Azeez Sani.

Their removal was as a result of recommendations by a panel investigating allegations of misconduct levelled against them while they were on suspension.

In the letter, Prof Uwakwe was accused of violating the Public Procurement Act (2007) and pursuant to PSR 030402 and part 1 schedule 4 (i) of NECO Establishment Act and was directed to hand over all Government properties in his custody to the Acting Registrar of the Council.

Also, in another letter with reference NO: FME/S/1419/C.3/T/98, and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono, the four other management staff have been dismissed from service for various offences.

The affected officials, according to the letter were Mr. Bamidele Olure, Acting Director (Finance and Acounts), Dr. Shina Adetona, Head of Procurement Division, Mr. Tayo Odukoya, Deputy Director and Barr. Babatunde Aina, Head of Legal/Board matters.

The Rivers State Governor has relaxed the Total Lock Down in Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor Local Government Area for Six days.

The Lock down relaxation in Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor will take effect from Thursday, 21st of May.

Wike, who spoke in an evening broadcast on Wednesday,  said the total lockdown would be restored in the capital city on 26th May.


He said: “Residents and visitors of these local government areas can therefore go out of their homes for their lawful businesses from May 21 until 8.00 p.m., Tuesday 26th of May 2020, when the lockdown will be restored and maintained until further notice.

“It is important to emphasized that the relaxation only allows for free human and vehicular movements and the opening of limited businesses, such as banks, supermarkets, shopping malls and grocery shops.

“All land, sea and air exit and entry borders and routes into Rivers State shall remain closed. Similarly, all open markets, motor parks, hotels, bars, night clubs, in-service restaurants and barbers’ shops must remain shut.

“Religious gatherings of more than 50 persons remain prohibited. All public weddings, burials and other social gathering also remain prohibited. Private and commercial vehicles, including tricycles must continue to limit the number of passengers to two persons only.

“The wearing of face masks or coverings in public spaces, including commercial and private vehicles remains compulsory as contraveners would be arrested and summarily dealt with as the law demands”.

The governor urged all residents to continue to maintain social distancing in every space, including vehicles, bank premises and shopping places as required by the subsisting regulations.

He warned that those, who refused to comply with the established orders and restrictions would be arrested and prosecuted for deliberately endangering themselves and the lives of others.

Wike reassured residents that the government was determined more than ever to do everything to fight against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in Rivers State.

He said: “We, therefore, urge residents not to panic even with the increasing number of positive cases, which is only indicative of the expanded testing now taking place in the State. Before long, we will flatten the curve, gradually lift the restrictions, restore normalcy and open up the State fully for business.

“But until then, we will continue to ask for is your patience, cooperation and religious compliance with the established measures to curb the spread of this virus.

“And so, for those, who have nothing to do outside their homes, please stay at home and stay safe. Let us also try to ensure that we keep and protect the most vulnerable persons among us, especially the aged and those with serious underlying health conditions from this virus”.

The building blocks of a NATION is commonality of culture as universally defined and accepted and they don’t come lesser than the reverred EKPE & OKONKO fraternities which bind Bende province in Abia, Efik and Ibiobio together as one family. Go through the text on the first picture, you will see that Abiriba ranks alongside other clans in Biafra all the way to Bakassi peninsular as having the same EKPE culture.

2. Abiriba is the umbilical cord that ties Igbos to their bretheren in Ejeagham, Efik, Ibibio, Annang, Bakassi and all the way to parts of Ambazonia. Abiriba people of Bende in Abia State is by far the richest clan in Africa per capita and are the only Igbo group that use ‘ung or ong’ similar to that in Effi’ong or Ob’ong in their lexicon.
