Amidst the Ravaging Coronavirus Five Nigeria Governors want to run away from Nigeria, This is according to Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika. According to The Minister since the closure of the airports and the lockdown order by President Muhammadu Buhari to curb the COVID-19 outbreak Five Governors has been denied travelling out of Nigeria. According to Sirika, three out of the four governors are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Two of the governors are from the South-east, two from South-south, while one was from North-central. Sirika disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday, at the daily press briefing by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. “Every single flight that we approved and will be approved will be an essential flight and 98 percent of the essential flight will be connected to COVID-19. “A few of them, maybe 1 percent may be either repatriation, requests from the diplomatic community, which must go through foreign affairs, or repatriation due to illness of another kind which will be medical-kind and those evacuations will also need a stamp of a teaching hospital. AUTHENTIC ALSO POSTED: There is no Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Nigeria “However, I want to share with you a discussion I had on Twitter with someone when I said we will not be able to open our airports and airspace as a result of the extension of the lock down for normal operations and someone said; “Kindly stop all the VIPs shuttle going on. It makes no sense to lock citizens up and allow governors to stroll in and out of Abuja. In the first instance, they carried this virus into Nigeria and now running around is not Okay.” I said to the person that I agree with him but whatever is approved or whoever is approved to fly privately, governor or no governor is on an essential flight and it is addition and 98 percent is related to COVID-19. nigeria benefiting from debt relief |
https://authenticng.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/DSC_0598-1-scaled-2.jpg The G-20 nations,Including China has have agreed to give debt relief to the poorest countries in the world Including Nigeria, which the World Bank classifies as International Development Association (IDA) nations. David Malpass, President of the World Bank, while speaking at the ongoing April 2020 virtual Spring meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), said that from May 1, there would be debt relief. David Malpass “IDA countries will have bilateral debt relief beginning May 1. That way, they can concentrate their resources on fighting the pandemic and its economic and social consequences,” he said. “I take note that in the G-20 meetings, China is supporting the international agreement to allow moratorium of debt repayments by IDA countries if they ask for forbearance. “That’s very important because China is one of the biggest creditors and their participation in that effort is important and was very welcome.” Countries under the International Development Association (IDA) are those with per capita income below an established threshold. The 2020 threshold is $1,175. Countries, such as Nigeria and Pakistan, are IDA-eligible based on per capita income levels and are also creditworthy for some IBRD borrowing. They are referred to as ‘blend’ countries. A moratorium is the suspension of debt repayments while debt relief is the reorganization of debt in any shape or form so as to provide the indebted party with a measure of respite, either fully or partially. Malpass said a system will be set up to monitor how developing countries utilise the funds made available by the debt relief.
