Are lecturers not sampling fine succulent female students or ask for money anymore? It just seems to me that bad economic policies and lower oil prices have just reduced money in circulation, hence less to steal.
To beat a bunch of "kekerebo" countries like Somalia, Yemen, Iraq & Afghanistan and roll out the drums to celebrate is really funny to me. Somalia Yemen Iraq and Afghanistan were not there under PDP when we used to be in the first ten positions? Give commendation when and where it is due. |

kettykin: Point of correction hypcritical and satanic APC , it was the PDP government that was responsible for the regeneration of the Music industry with the Government policy that mandated the playing of 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day.
What P square wants to know is how would the hypocrits who still purchase foreign made vehicles , buy foreign made shoes , go to foreign hospitals for checkup and treatments now decide to ban foreign music production.
Please discerning Nigerians, APC government does not mean well for Nigeria, they have not grown Nigerian rice industry neither have they encouraged Nollywood , all they want is to kill our indigenous musicians career , through scorched earth policies and highly jaundiced ethnic manipulations You guys have polarised everything along ethnic and tribal affiliation. Are Psquare the only musicians that this policy will affect if ever implemented? |

omohayek: Do you realize that the DISCOs have to pay for all those imported meters in fixed US dollars, even though the real value of the Naira is half what it used to be? Are you aware that they were already not recovering their costs before the Naira crashed?
The last tariff increase wasn't enough to make up for even the losses the DISCOs were making before the Naira's drop in value, let alone now; just because you don't like the effect of the price increase on your pocket doesn't mean it reflects what the DISCOs really need to charge to stop making losses. You can be as sentimental about all of this as you want, but the harsh reality is this: the Nigerian power sector is now so attractive that no foreign or domestic investors want to get involved, so if these DISCOs collapse ... Let's just say you won't have any more billing issues, because there won't be anyone to distribute electricity to you, let alone bill you for it. No sentimental comment here bro. Why would DISCOS wait for many years until naira started crashing before they would place orders for prepaid meters. People paid for the meter as far back as DISCOS came on board, they only distributed meters to few customers. Now, they are crying about naira crash as if they had intention to buy meters in the first place. Secondly, as a result of naira crash, the payment for meters was reviewed upward from 25k to around 40 something thousand naira. But NERC had stop the process because DISCOS themselves are sabotaging the process intentionally. Thirdly, local manufacturers of prepaid meters are crying day and night that discos are not patronizing them while discos too are busy telling us that local manufacturers couldn't produce the specs that they prefer which manufacturers in turn called an excuse not to patronize them. Lastly, end of DISCOS or GENCOS in Nigeria can never mean an end to power generations in Nigeria. I want you to know that for a fact. |

omohayek: You are the only intelligent commenter in this thread. Everyone else just seems to want cheap and reliable power to fall from the sky without having to pay its true cost of generation and distribution. The failure of Nigeria's power sector all comes down to an unwillingness by every administration to face economic reality head on. My brother who could identify the only intelligent guy on the thread, can you also tell us the reason why DISCOS were collecting money for the prepaid meters but refused to supply it, even after many years? If your suggestion could work, it would have worked long time ago. In case you didn't know, many of these power investors are yet to pay fully to the government, are these the people that will use hike in tariff to boost power generation and distribution? |

All those playing politics with it that they do not want to increase, people do not want to hear of this. This is my cell phone; you pay for it even before you make use of it. And nobody is controlling the tariff, they charge what they want He talked about cellphone and its prepaid nature, forgetting that people actually paid for prepaid meters but those useless DISCOS refused to buy meters with the money they collected. To the extent that NERC had to order them to stop collecting money from their customers for prepaid meters. Some customers paid twice for a single item. Then, he talked about nobody is regulating GSM operators' tariff, forgetting that they don't enjoying monopoly unlike power providers in Nigeria. If Etisalat tariff is too high for me, I can switch to mtn or glo. But if the DISCO in my area is allowed to set its price per unit as they want. If the tariff is too high for me, which next DISCO will I switch too? |
