No alerts, no OTPs until few days later. The money was still not yet released to the online store as at the time she lodged the complaint. It was released after the complaint. Now, both the bank and jumia have become silent and not responding to enquiries. That's Nigerians for you.

Why the criminal silence from the bank and jumia? Why would jumia even allow such huge airtime purchases spree within few minutes? Why would GTBank initially hold the money and still go ahead to release it when their customer had already lodged complaint?

GTBank is seriously understaffed in their IT department, most of their IT guys are moving to other banks because of problems like underpayments, promotional delays, arrears and allowances not being paid, overwork as a result of understaffing. The report was posted here on nairaland few months ago

It's quite pathetic. Inasmuch as the customer's correct credentials were used via alternate channels to carryout the fraud, the bank is indemnified. Banks don't have controls over compromised customers' personal details. Lawyers must chop.

We have seen instances where banks refunded the customers having investigated and realised that the customers didn't compromise his or her account details at any point in time. The criminal silence is always their usual first reaction.

Jumia couldn't have released the details of the fraudster as that is against the law. The police needs to file for an order from the court for the details of the customer to be released before jumia can do that.
