Cant believe people are getting personal over some random guy.
I am a Gbegborun i agree  cheesy grin, but shldnt some things be handled with a bit of decorum, Imagine we are getting in on and the whole Nairaland knows, people can use it to score cheap points like has just been done. Its politics and its a dirty game, grin cheesy

@ D its okay u dont find him attractive, but a lot of ladies do and he needs your luck so thanks for offering it.

And point of correction he is not an "Odaron".
PoliticsRe: Super Tuesday by away4real(m): 2:53am On Feb 11, 2008
@ Richy these guys are just taking the piss, please ignore them. They have nothing else to attack Obama with now they pick on his wife. How u can u attempt to follow logic with Iman, does he understand what constitutes Logic.

I recall 4play/Iman was here gloryfying Rudy Giuliani and Romney talking about educational achievements, where are they now. Same I-man called Obama a master of vacuities, that his campaign lacks substance. He knows more than the bulk of college graduates and youths backing obama. Looking at the support base of the 2 candidates u can tell who the better candidate is.

Some even condemed Obama comparing Obama to some black governor saying nothing good can come from people like him, a lot of people completely wrote off Obama just like  many folks but as things unfold theres nothing to attack anymore they pick on Michelle Obama, thats so so pathetic and below the belt. Almond are prettier u that her, u are here talking nonsense.

Ok leave it she is Ugly and has a handsome husband that is thretening the Clintons even beating Bill Clinton to a grammy, yes she is Ugly did Obama complain to you guyshuh?

Even if Obama is not finally nominated, u can't imagine what he has achieved.
PoliticsRe: Super Tuesday by away4real(m): 12:16am On Feb 11, 2008
I really dont understand how people can call Michelle Obama "UGLY", its really strange, u folks need to take a rain check on that. She is not a model, she is just an everyday mother/professional supporting her husband, and to me after 2 kids she is alright the way she is.

Our generation is suffering from this distorted thought, comparing a professional/mother to a model, m, models that are scared to eat. 10 years from now Michelle will be the way she is ageing a bit, but look at the models 10 years from now they would be totally different. I was reading the Independent today and there was a section showing Brad Pitt and how he has aged, and here someone can call Michele Obama "Wo Wo", thats so so below the belt and pathetic.
PoliticsRe: Super Tuesday by away4real(m): 11:13pm On Feb 07, 2008
okay @ 4Him u were being sarcastic, me too i smile grin, no fight.

I only wanted to give like $150-200 nothing major, i was reading that it is such contributions that fund the campaign so i wanted to be part of it. I never gave Obama a chance, i believe he has the mojority vote but again ironically doubt the establishment would let him be. The close close elections tell us an invisible hand is at play. Obama has the majority and the young but all these 45 yr old women upwards wont let the future be.

Even the college graduates are for Obama, it is the suffer suffer that are supporting hillary and unfortunately they are quite a number.
PoliticsRe: Super Tuesday by away4real(m): 10:27pm On Feb 07, 2008
@ 4Him, i really don't know why that happens to give u headache, don't drink panadol for another persons headache.

If you don't have the answer then keep mute.  lipsrsealed

4Him:
why would u want to make contributions to the campaign? grin
Why would people not learn to shut up.

Watching the video i wondered why "will.i.am" will do a video and decided to google it and saw the website. www.yeswecansong.com which will take you to http://www.dipdive.com/.

Read why: A bit long but see what the power of inspiration can propel vs experience. You know am sick and tired of that word experience, i don't know if any of u has experienced this, u apply for a job u dam well know u can do easily amd make improvements then they come and tell u that sorry u don't have experience. In the UK its so bad that u need experience even for the students mundane retail jobs. "Bleep EXPERIENCE".

And heres the part i love: "no one on this planet is truly experienced to handle the obstacles we face today,
Terror, fear, lies, agendas, politics, money, all the above,
It’s all scary"

He is not in any campaign but heard a speech and decided to make a video, imagine already.

Geez am motvated Yes I can do what i though i couldnt do, i can actually whats stopping me. I am officially now an Obama fan, win or not, he is a "legend"

The Yes We Can Song
by will.i.am

I was sitting in my recording studio watching the debates,
Torn between the candidates

I was never really big on politics,
and actually I’m still not big on politics,
but 4 years ago, me and the black eyed peas supported Kerry,
And we supported Kerry with all our might,
We performed and performed and performed for the DNC,
doing all we could do to get the youth involved,

The outcome of the last 2 elections has saddened me,
on how unfair, backwards, upside down, unbalanced, untruthful,
corrupt, and just simply, how wrong the world and "politics" are,

So this year i wanted to get involved and do all i could early,

And i found myself torn,
because this time it’s not that simple,
our choices aren’t as clear as the last elections ,
last time it was so obvious,
Bush and war
vs
no Bush and no war,

But this time it’s not that simple,
and there are a lot of people that are torn just like i am,

So for awhile I put it off and i was going to wait until it was decided for me,

And then came New Hampshire,

And i was captivated,

Inspired,

I reflected on my life,
and the blessings I have,
and the people who fought for me to have these rights and blessings,

and I’m not talking about a "black thing"
I’m talking about a "human thing" me as a "person"
an American,

That speech made me think of Martin Luther King,
Kennedy,
and Lincoln,
and all the others that have fought for what we have today,

what America is "supposed" to be,

freedom,
equality,
and truth,

and thats not what we have today,
we think we are free,
but in reality terror and fear controls our decisions,

this is not the America that our pioneers and leaders fought and
died for,

and then there was New Hampshire

it was that speech,
like many great speeches,
that one moved me,
because words and ideas are powerful,

It made me think,
and realize that today we have "very few" leaders,
maybe none,

but that speech,

it inspired me,
it inspired me to look inside myself and outwards towards the world,
it inspired me to want to change myself to better the world,
and take a "leap" towards change,
and hope that others become inspired to do the same,
change themselves,
change their greed,
change their fears,
and if we "change that"
"then hey",
we got something right, huh,

1 week later after the speech settled in me,
I began making this song,
I came up with the idea to turn his speech into a song,
because that speech effected and touched my inner core like nothing in a very long time,

it spoke to me,

because words and ideas are powerful,

I just wanted to add a melody to those words,
I wanted the inspiration that was bubbling inside me to take over,

so i let it,

I wasn't afraid to stand for something,
to stand for "change",
I wasn't afraid of "fear",
it was pure inspiration,

so I called my friends,
and they called their friends,
in a matter of 2 days,
We made the song and video,

Usually this process would take months,
a bunch of record company people figuring out strategies and release dates,
interviews,
all that stuff,
but this time i took it in my own hands,
so i called my friends sarah pantera, mike jurkovac, fred goldring, and jesse dylan to help make it happen,
and they called their friends,
and we did it together in 48 hours,
and instead of putting it in the hands of profit we put it in the hands of inspiration,

then we put it on the net for the world to feel,

When you are truly inspired,
magic happens,
incredible things happen,
love happens,
(and with that combination)

"love, and inspiration"

change happens,

"change for the better"
Inspiration breeds change,

"Positive change",

no one on this planet is truly experienced to handle the obstacles we face today,
Terror, fear, lies, agendas, politics, money, all the above,
It’s all scary,

Martin Luther King didn't have experience to lead,
Kennedy didn't have experience to lead,
Susan B. Anthony,
Nelson Mandela,
Rosa Parks,
Gandhi,
Anne Frank,
and everyone else who has had a hand in molding the freedoms we have and take for granted today,

no one truly has experience to deal with the world today,

they just need "desire, strength, courage ability, and passion" to change,
and to stand for something even when people say it's not possible,

America would not be here "today" if we didn’t stand and fight for
change "yesterday",
Everything we have as a "people" is because of the "people" who fought for
change,
and whoever is the President has to realize we have a lot of changing to do

I'm not trying to convince people to see things how i do,
I produced this song to share my new found inspiration and how I've been moved,
I hope this song will make you feel,
love,
and think,
and be inspired just like the speech inspired me,

that’s all,

Let's all come together like America is supposed to,
Like Japan did after Hiroshima,

that was less than 65 years ago,
and look at Japan now,

they did it together,
they did it,

"We can't?,

Are you serious, ?,

WE CAN!!!

Yes we can,
A United "America"
Democrats, Republicans and Independents together,
Building a new America

We can do it,
"TOGETHER"

Foreign AffairsRe: Obama For President? by away4real(m): 6:02pm On Feb 05, 2008
Oh please not again. I respect Hillary as a competent person but please this is so manipulative, cry when it seems u are down, cry when u are in front of the cameras. If i was a woman i will feel slighted, women cry to be treated fairly and then when the heat is on she decides to manipulate people and lean towards the femminist soft side, thats just the height of manipulation.

I can't remember her weeping during the lewinsky saga and that was a family affair where passion comes naturally but no it didnt but hey when there seems to be a balance between u and your opponent she weeps again.

Hillary shall prevail through tears. If America votes for her, then America deserves the leader they get. Its obvious that the Obama campaign was right HRC would do and say anything to get elected. We think Bush is a case, God help America when she becomes president.
PoliticsRe: Should Tribe (ethnicity) Matter In 2008? by away4real(m): 1:50pm On Feb 04, 2008
oldie:
Why do we always focus on government contracts?
Like I wrote above, there are many more services provided by small to medium companies.
In most cases, these companies do not even care about government contracts
What they need mostly is an enabling environment
Do they get it? This is for another discussion
So if you run your own company here, would you employ/trust only people from your tribe even when they are not qualified?
You want too know why people focus on govt contracts becos Govt is the main driver of the economy. I share your sentiments on SME's that dont depend on govt but again wats the proportion, its less than 20% of the income generating units.

Let the govt delay release of votes for 2-3 weeks and see the impact on the economy, then u will understand why.

I am not of the view that the private sector is ethnically driven but the fact that tribe remains a factor in Nigeria shouldnt be wished away it is real and affecting the national development until we tackle it headson we will continue to have substandard leadership and skewed economic growth.
Christianity EtcRe: The End Of The Church Age by away4real(m): 6:28pm On Jan 31, 2008
toluxa1:
At that point the veil was torn from top to bottom, at that time God was finished with national Israel. It was not the veil of a church, it was the veil of the temble (Where the Israelites worshiped) and He shifted the affairs to the church. He also gave specific rules In the appointment of rulers and elders (Which the church has not followed).
Now the word, ecclesia is the word church that was used in Matthew 16: 18 which says:
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

So, answering pilgrim's question, the meaning of the word church depends on how God is using it.

Imhotep said: "The Church is not a building. It is the collection of believers/faithful.",
That is true. Now do you think that everybody in every church is saved? You see, many many many of the church goers are not beleivers. The act of going to church does not save us. Infact, nothing that we do can save us.
@ toluxa1 i really dont get your point, so b4 we startrunning round in circles.

I didnt say the viel being torn into 2 represents the viel of the church, am sure u saw the temple in the bracket, i used it to represent the fact that we dont require the high priest to go into the presence of God, that theres no holy of holies after the death of JC.

Secondly What exactly is your arguement is it on church (denominations) or on the fact that there are church goers who are not born again. Please leave salvation out of this, you are clogging the discussion. No one said works will save anybody.

You started a thread on the end of the church age and i am saying the church hasnt ended cos we are the church, so exactly what church age are you talking about??
IslamRe: The 5 versions of the Arabic Koran by away4real(m): 11:33pm On Jan 30, 2008
Quote from wale. Finally, if I were to talk to your 'anyway enjoyment Muslim' woman, I will remember her to be mindful of her Creator! To comingle a Keferi is a great sin, especially when you as a woman is not married to him. Marrying a Keferi, which you are away4real, is bad enough, but relationship out of marriage is a double wammy!

@ wale, your quote above tells a lot about the religion of peace. So to date a friend that doesnt share her "religious" belief in a circular society is a great sin.

And did i say i was dating her, so every female friend to you theres something to it. How did i get into a debate with you. grin cheesy.

Anyway i cant be unequally yoked with her, though to me its not a great sin, my bible advises "DO NOT" cause there will be issues, must everything be do or die to you folks.
Christianity EtcRe: The End Of The Church Age by away4real(m): 10:46pm On Jan 30, 2008
@ toluxa1, you are right the age of the church (temple, holy place) has since come to an end, really it ended with Jesus Christ when the viel was torn into two, now you dont need a high priest to go into the holy of holies.

I hope thats the church age you mean, however "the people called out of darkness into his marvelou light" is it ecclesia abeg bible scholars correct me if am wron on the hebrew word, ecclesia is what is translated church, hasnt come to an end, in short it is still being revealed. No eyes has seen what the new creation is capable of yet, we are still discoveing ourselves.

Thats the church me i understand from scripture, so abeg help us anwer pilgrims question.

Since a complete fool is born around the clock, and others in different degree are born in shorter time span, every day, it is no wonder you have a single book with so many versions in the same language, selling like hot cakes to the gullibles! I wonder if I can talk The old man Chinua Achebe to allow many versions of his master piece in English, so that he can get more royalty!
You know i didnt see that, osisi c y i used that word.

There is no correlation between number of translations and numbers sold, simple if not Pinocchio should be the second largest selling book. Anyway keep at it.

Try as much as you can, there is no one Koran, simple, the koran has versions and translations and in different keys, c minor, a major, alto and teno. grin. Geez,
IslamRe: The 5 versions of the Arabic Koran by away4real(m): 10:21pm On Jan 30, 2008
@ wale, segun and shegun again sematics, anyway keep at it, that was just my 2 cents i no dey d palaver, pilgrim has shown that the koran has been translated in more than 100 languages so keep at it, denying the obvious.

Am happy for u that u ave learnt the arabic, aramic or watever d language, congrats i hope u have a certificate. cheesy grin

NB: i just called my friend shes a muslim (anyway enjoyment muslim) and she didnt find it funny, i will keep her rxn cos its personal to her.

@ osisi, i withdraw the nutcase its not in my character but the bunch of rubbish was alarming.

After the 5 Mushafs, the patchments or remants which were used were collected and burnt! After the Qur'an texts have been written down to accomodate at least the accents of th 5 major places, what would the parchments be serving with the Muslims? You can have any good answer to this Question, +Osisi! Is this the destruction you and your type have been accusing the muslims about? Shame on you if it is! You guys should have done the same with your "Injil, ' then you will not end up with Lost and or Corrupted Injiil.
@ Wale you really are a nutcase, so the versions are different keys (ref to misical key notes  grin) of the Koran. Your piece on ogbono and pounded yam is just dam lame, in addittion the Hafsat woman stroy is just pathetic reminds me of tales by moon light.

Point is simple the more u try and cloud it the clearer it is. You have stated that there are different keys, tones, ascent of the Koran. Since its not one, its a version another ascent, another key. Geezz what wont i read on naira land.

The fact that i don't have to learn Hebrew, Greek or whatever and that the life transforming power of the bible is not tied to a language of men actually tells much of the authenticity. No matter how hard men try to distort the message, the bible has only become clearer, its all about the spirit, which the Koran offers little about.

Alternatively on the christain end we are glad of the many translations and versions, it makes it clearer. I was once told by a learned lady that every reported speech is distorted, that the only reported book in human history that is yet distorted is the bible, don't you know its the best selling book of all time.

On a lighter note, i have a friend named hafsat, i will start calling her mohammeds wife, am sure she will kill me. cheesy
Christianity EtcRe: God (according To The Bible) by away4real(m): 7:05pm On Jan 30, 2008
@ poster, i guess theres a contradiction in terms of understanding by the followers then.

Let us assume for assumption sake that you are right why are christains ( a minority, fanatical christains u knw d explanations) not killing sorry blowing themselves up along with innocent people that know nothing about their grudges. I guess the so called message of killing was misunderstood by the followers according to your stand.

Please don't start a debate you can't keep, hatred, killing and fighting for God is not part of the christain ideology no matter the denomination thats even bringing in (my jehovah witness brothers and all kinds inside).

The question is thrown back to you, why is it that killing appears so much in the bible (according to you) but that the followers of the bible preach love, peace and not practise killing? Why?

Question to anyone really: Are there more than 1 english translation of the Koran?

osisi point is noted the core contents and message remains the same despite the minor differences due to translations. for me the differenct translations of the bible are a blessing, wonderful, it brings it to todays language (simplicity) in addition u can understand it for yourself bring the bible alive for you.

If a muslim can help contribute how the translations has helped you in your faith, is it necessary or should it be left in Arabic.
IslamRe: The 5 versions of the Arabic Koran by away4real(m): 5:29am On Jan 24, 2008
@ olabowale is this debate on the trinity?? huh huh, its ok for u to be confused or attempt to ridicule the trinity, but please the debate is on the Koran. Islam this Christainity that, jumpup here shout there, just stick to the debate.

Now back to the issue from what u state the versions are just translations in other languages. I doubt that based on the evidence from osisi.

Enjoy anyway i no get power 4 dis una talk, i leave dat to osisi and pilgrim and they seem to be doing a good job.

I will watch from the sound lines. Again stick to the debate and stop blowing cold fire, hmm can a fire be cold , well olabowale's fire is cole, cheesy grin take a chill pill no be fight, make everybody take am easy, tolerance is what i preach, but this nairaland na wah i wonder where people get all d info.

@ olabowale, a lot of us are following this thread unbiased, its unnecessary for you to bring in Mr. Nwando.

Please can you and babs stick to the issues raised, i for one thought the Koran was 1 (no versions) and the hadiths i never understood but here osisi and pilgrim have totally torn u guys apart, you guys seem to have nothing to say.

Again i call please stick to the issues raised if there is one version of the Koran prove it, and also the issue of the convenant raised on the other thread you also have not answered David asked what is the convenant and you said nothing i for one wanted to see if there was any similarity

You guys don't show a good grasp of your religion, always copy and pasting discuss in your own languages it will help in understanding for us the less fanatical about superioroty of religions. Pilgrim 1 seems to know more than you guys and shes a christain.

Please stick to the discussion at hand. I beg of u address issues, I really am interested in this debate.

Christianity EtcRe: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by away4real(m): 6:20pm On Jan 22, 2008
@ bicey, my 2 cents to your post is that we all understand your point, am a pickin of God myself and attimes i think some christain folks are over zealous, but hey the word is tolerance. We live in a secular world and we should tolerate each other, if he says what you don't like please ignore him and in your heart pray for him.

Now i don't want to attack you, but you are not as objective as you want to sound, see your comment below:

bicey:
@davidylan,
Bros you need to wash your brain. You have a stereotyped thinking. A true replica of a real xtian. The holy spirit has told you what you are saying is right.
David might need to wash his brain, but what is the replica of a true christain and you talk lightly on the holy spirit knowing that christains take that seriously, but did you notice somethin no christain responded to that.

TOLERANCE is the word, i might not like a lot of things i see about ISLAM (but i like the big sallah because i get to eat suya unlimited) but hey i wont complain about the things, i tolerate them.

Please as a true muslim, help in spreading tolerance amongst your brethren, we don't need all this "tit a tat". You hate some things and christains hate some things, but we can tolerate ourselves, so in my opinion the preaching can and should continue, we shld learn to tolerate and as someone suggested where we can get options as i knw some that have moved to areas where noise from loudspeakers is irritable even to muslims, please exercise the option and come down and get on another, calling for something to stop because it irritates u is unfair.

Again lets all note theres a bias in all of us towards our religion, so we need to be tolerant.
