Apologies for the late post guys, got caught up in other matters.

Had my interview last Wednesday in Lagos.

Here it goes.

Got to the embassy at about 5.45 a.m (maybe too early, 6.00 a.m would have been equally fine)

Luckily I found my way to the top of queue for the 6.30 batch (was about number 4 out of 40 people in the room)

Waited for about 30 mins. Interviews began at about 6.45 a.m.

VO: Good Morning...XXXXX(in a not so very polite way)....didn't hear the rest cos the mic wasn't clearly set yet.

Me: Good Morning Madam

VO: What are you going to do in the US?

Me: I am going to pursue an MBA degree at **** University.

VO: How long is this programme

Me: 21 Months

VO: Goes on typing some stuff......

VO: What have you been doing since graduation?

Me: Working for a Nigerian Bank, in **** role

VO: What do you plan to do after school?

Me: Recited some nice answer I had formatted pre-interview

VO: Takes a long look into her PC.......

VO: Did you take any standardized test?

Me: Yes, I took the GMAT

VO: What did you score..Can I see your test scores

Me: Showed it to her

VO: How are you funding your MBA?

Me: A combination of my personal savings, loan i got from a private company in the UK, and support from my family.

VO: How did you hear of this loan company?

Me: Its affiliated to the University I will be attending and specifically designed for international students.

VO: Why do you think this is the right time for an MBA?

Me: To aid my managerial skills and sharpen my business acumen, which I think will be key for achieving success with my LT career objective.

VO: Ok. Your visa has been approved.

Me: Thanks and Have a nice day.

VO: Have a nice day too

5 top lessons for prospective applicants.

1. Learn as much as you can from other people's experiences. Nairaland was extremely helpful in this regard.

2. Pre-interview, scribble down potential interview questions and formulate intelligent answers that are not leading.

3. Keep these answers as short as possible.

4. Be confident. Your confident is enhanced when you are sure all potential pitfalls have been covered.

5. Exercise your faith in God (or whoever you worship).

I put on a bit of weight sometime in May which I noticed and cut down on my rations and number of times I eat in a day. I cook a lot at home and as we speak I have chicken stew with turkey, beans and ripe plantains, ogbono soup with okporoko and beef, fried chicken, curry stew and white rice in my fridge! I also have bread, eggs, fruits, candies for dessert, peak milk (yes peak milk! I buy peak milk here in Maryland), hot chocolate, bananas etc.

I cook fried rice every now and then and often cook fried rice and jollof rice intermittently. Dem don use my fried rice sabi me for work o.

One time I took fried rice to work and during break I was eating it. Men, the odourlicious aromatic aroma permeated the whole office. My Nigerian colleague at work stood up o and started looking for where this smell was coming from only for her to come to my desk and she shouted 'Jesus oh its you that's eating this food!'. She immediately got hungry and went for her break immediately to go and eat.

My boss equally came around and peeped at my food in amazement. Chai. I laugh die that day. I was the center of attention that day.

If you can afford the tuition fees, then Kindly pay the application fees. The university is in South Cyprus. After paying full fees and your visa approved, you must also have cash of 2000euro with you on arrival as a rule in South Cyprus. If not you will be taken back! Good luck!

I can authoritatively confirm that your details had been sent now to embassy and returned conversation indicated it has left Istanbul on 28th Feb for Turkish emb. You may print this attachment to support your application. I have to cross out other applicants for safety sake!

I received your files and I had just few hrs within TRNC today before the offices closed, unfortunately you have to contact those persons I have sent you their details either via phone call or email cos I have been quite busy going in and out of TRNC to SC and by next week or so I shall be heading away for vacation and will be returning towards 20-25th of March!

Thanks a whole lot, Dr Wip! You are really doing a great job here. People like you and Ladywriter have made Nairaland a case of a good coming out from a country that is internationally known ad the abode of cyber criminals. As far as I'm concerned Nairaland is far far more beneficial than Facebook and the likes - particularly for Nigerians.

Wip the boss.. I remember when i first came to the island and I went to see wip in the office with my other friend. He told me same thing about publishing papers and doing research (although Wip sir, u didn't get back to me again on sites for the articles.. Anyways I'm past that now.. Lol). Well my curiosity in publishing papers drove up and interest in research landed me a full-time assistant job, and also my thesis is on the way to being my first published article and many more still coming. Truth be told, that is one area, students hardly ask about, all they want is menial jobs that have no contribution to the future except stipends for the present. If you come to this island focused, ur persistent drive will definitely attract Professors to you as some of them are lazy and are usually happy when they see a student ready to work. As for scholars, speaking from the business angle, most of our professors either trained in Us, Uk or Canada and from very good schools, so you are definitely not at loss compared with Nigeria. Emu may not be Harvard or Cambridge but for their level, they are on of the best. Anyways look beyond their laziness here and I must emphasize, DO NOT LISTEN OR GIVE IN TO HEARSAYS OF PEOPLE, people do a lot of that here in the negative, it could run you mad, stay true to your goal. You applied for Fall 2015 (Sept) ? if yes, FALL evaluation is not opened for EMU....so keep checking in months.

I doubt CIU will still be able to send your details to Turkish embassy in Nigeria due to embassy dateline. For EMU, we have stopped sending names to Abuja but we are still sending names for other Africans like Zimbabwe, Kenya etc. The best advice is that, kindly call CIU and email to let them know if you pay now will they still send your details to the embassy.

Yeah I did. After putting me on hold for a long time, I was told my application is still withing the standard processing time. I just wonder how longer I have to wait. I was supposed to start my programme on the 9th of February
