To answer your title of your thread, Pan Africanism is a Bantu invention. Somalis will not be Pan African as we have nothing in common with you Bantus. Pan Africanism is anti Islam and against our interests. |

Rafikizolo: I think you have your own issues. From reading your posts all over this forum I can tell that you are probably young and have some kind of deep inferiority complex. I have no desire to "mix" with other people. My current girlfriend is native Cameroonian. I am not ashamed to be black and I find beauty within it. The diversity that I spoke of had nothing to do with including non-Africans into it. I advocate diversity in all contexts of course, but here I was speaking about diversity of African cultures. If it suits you then fine, only Saharan Africans who are not Somali should unite and continue being the fastest growing economies in the world and love one another.
I really don't know why you have such an issue with black people. In my own personal opinion, I suspect you may have a complex and are trying to distance yourself from black people as much as possible to look better in the eyes of your white peers perhaps. And seem more exotic to them and boost your esteem in this way.
You live in America as I do. It's a shame that you can't see the beauty in AT THE VERY LEAST the CREATIVTY and PHENOMINAL ARTISTIC CULTURE of those you refer to as "bantu" people and their diaspora. Do you not enjoy the music of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Beyonce Knowles, Jimmi Hendrix, Ray Charles, James Brown, Miriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie and hundreds more musical legends? Do you not enjoy the comedy of Chris Rock or Kevin Hart or Richard Pryor, or Bill Cosby? Do you not marvel at the athleticism of Serena Williams and Usain Bolt?
OF course there is so much more for our people to be proud of than these accomplishments(historically and in contemporary times), but it is no doubt that the art that our cultures and our diaspora produces (with the exception of film and TV) is among the most celebrated and imitated around the world. Why would I be ashamed of that?
Why would I want to be more like a Somali in 2015 when your country has the most instability (this is true no matter if there are safe areas or not)? Why would I want to be more like a Somali when "bantu" immigrants into the U.S. have high graduation rates and outperform Somali immigrants on average? Why would I want to be Somali when I can enjoy going to a home country with a rising GDP and look at my bantu neighbors and see prosperity emerging on a large scale within their countries and communities? Why would I want to be like a Somali when I don't have to literally bring up ancient history in an attempt to prove that my people are superior to another, when I can live in the present and show people how my country is improving. Why would I want to be a closed-minded Somali in 2015 when I can be a pan-African living in the 21st century who does not have a racist mentality and believes in working together with people to create a future for Africa that everyone can be proud of? Tell me Axum, please. Respond to each of these questions I beg of you. Do me the honor. Why are you writing long essays? Relax your not gonna change my mind or the millions of my people in the Horn. |

Some ethiopians might speak Semetic language but that is not a race. The people in the horn are all related and have a common ancestor thus the reason why they look similar in appearance and have a common history.

KenyanLady: Exactly, these people speak a semitic language.
Axum is mentally ill man who doesn't know the difference between linguistics and ethnicity and that's why he's wasting his time promoting cushitic language. You are confused and confusing two things. Cushitic is the language that was made up by some white guy to label the languages spoken by Somalis,Afar, Oromo etc. the word Cush has ancient meaning that is to describe the people who live in Somalia,Ethiopia,Eritrea because of their common origin.

It is sad that all that money is going to Europeans countries instead of staying inside your own country. That money will go to European who tax it and provide safety nets to their people, while a Nigerian runs around in a Bugati in order to diminish the faith on his fellow country men on the idea that their is no nepotism and corruption in his/her country.

Rafikizolo: Axum.. This isn't about being black. This is about building a peaceful and prosperous Africa. It does not matter the ethnic or cultural makeup of the country. Some of the most successful countries in the world are those that are the most diverse and welcoming of immigrants from different backgrounds. USA, Australia, UK Part of the success of the United Arab Emirates rapid development was their openness int heir economic growth and allowing workers from all over the world to get visas to come live and work there. Now only 39% of the residents of the UAE are Arab (both UAE citizens and people from other Arab countries. UAE arabs are only 16% of the country).
Meanwhile Somalia, one of the most homogenous countries on Earth is the single most lawless, dangerous and impoverished country in all of Africa, despite how much you boast about how great your people once were. The Romans, Greeks and Ottomans were once great, but all empires fall, and yours seems to have fallen the farthest. Call yourself whatever you want to. I don't care if you're black or not, we can agree that you are African, and it has been proven time and time again in the modern era that those who embrace diversity can succeed at far higher rates than those who close themselves off from the world (especially their neighbors). First Somalia has laws and is not lawless. Secondly the instability in Somalia is due to Western backed government vs Islamists. It's idealogy that is liberalism that is backed by the west vs conservatism. The majority of the country ha always been peaceful except where the governemt is, the South. I dont care about your views about Africa, diversity is something bantus run after so they can mix with other people who look human I guess diversity is the excuse you guys run away from being who you are. |

Rafikizolo: Hi friends, I have lurked on this site for a long time but decided to create an account today after some recent disturbing and disheartening posts I've seen in the culture section these past few weeks (not going to name people or even the threads I am referring to). I am a Kenyan-American (dual citizenship) who has lived in South Africa and the United States and visits Kenya regularly. Admittedly, in all these countries, all of the Africans I associate with are fairly progressive so maybe I have a few misconceptions about the things I'm about to discuss here.
In all my time, I've never seen so much illegitimate and unprovoked childishness and hatred from people as I have on this forum with the exception of radical white nationalist groups like the KKK and Stormfront, etc. I'm being very serious right now. People on this forum are better at spitting hatred towards black people than some white neo-nazis, and WE ARE BLACK.
I'm not saying everyone on this forum is like this of course, but why are there so many people who are? Why attack South Africans/Kenyans and tear-down their looks and cultures because you're Nigerian and feel that you are superior? Why dehumanize "bantus" because you are Somali and feel that you're different and more culturally/genetically advanced? None of it makes sense, and one offense is not better than the other. Why must posts that are dedicated to praising our beautiful African women always devolve into tribalistic nonsense?
I'm only 20 years old, but in my opinion, no functioning adult should even be involved in a debate about which country has the most beautiful women... everybody knows they've seen both ugly women and pretty women everywhere they go, and it doesn't matter what you think anyway. Right now there is a white guy somewhere who only finds Swiss women attractive and will swear on his life that they are the most beautiful people in the world, but obviously everyone here would probably disagree with him. Nobody here who thinks, Nigerian/Ghanian/Angolan/Somali/Kenyan/Tanzanian/etc women are the most beautiful are any more correct than that white man.
All of these unnecessary divisions are foolish in my opinion. National identities are created and destroyed constantly. 100 years ago, there was no Kenyan national identity, no Nigerian identity, no Malawian identity, there wasn't a Pakistani identity or a South Korean identity either. And 1000 years ago there wasn't even an overarching black identity in Africa. All of these internet wars that are fought between nations are so arbitrary. Right now countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi are working towards a political and economic union to form a new country, while leaders of the African union are constantly working towards African unity and have spoken in favor of creating a unified African state. Why are people on here so backwards?
When I listen to Nigerian music or South African music I do not feel inferior or jealous or unworthy. I feels so proud. I feel proud of all African achievements. Yet some people on here have written posts claiming that Nigeria is the best country because it has the best music and everyone else is jealous and it has the biggest economy and is therefore untouchable and all other African countries are sub-par and nobody can match Nigeria's excellence etc, etc. By that "logic", the United States is undeniably the best country in the entire world and every African country can suck it (including Nigeria) because the United States has the most popular musicians in the world (and that's not changing any time soon) and has the world's largest economy (Nigeria isn't even in the top 25 largest world economies).
So please, can we move on from this childishness? As Kenyan, i see all African people as my brothers (even Cushites, idk what Axum says) and I know literally dozens, perhaps hundreds of people who see things the same way. So why so much foolishness here? We are all family. One Africa, One Fate. Fool a landmass doesnt determine your destiny or fate. You speak as if Africa is one country. Your ignorance is beyond believe, you impose your world view on everyone on a landmass with nearly a billion people who have thousands of religions and cultures and languages. Every Somali on this site, including myself, have already said they do not identity as black but as Somali. |

A paucity of written historical evidence forces the student of early Somalia to depend on the findings of archeology, anthropology, historical linguistics, and related disciplines. Such evidence has provided insights that in some cases have refuted conventional explanations of the origins and evolution of the Somali people. For example, where historians once believed that the Somalis originated on the Red Sea's western coast, or perhaps in southern Arabia, it now seems clear that the ancestral homeland of the Somalis, together with affiliated Cushite peoples, was in the highlands of southern Ethiopia, specifically in the lake regions. http://www.workmall.com/wfb2001/somalia/somalia_history_the_somalis_their_origins_migrations_and_settlement.htmlCushite was an identity long before the family language was labeled Cushitic several decades ago. It is common knowledge that all the people in the Horn are related as can be evidenced by appearance and intermixing and overlapping of territory |
Culture › Re: Cushitic people the most beautiful people on Earth by axum(op): 3:59am On Jan 09, 2015 |
KidStranglehold: Tigrey, Tigrinya, Amahra, Harrari, Northern Sudanese and people from Southern Egypt are NOT Cushitic. Since they do not speak a Cushitc language. Cushitic langauge is separate from the People who are related who use to call themselves Cushitc as they have the same origin. Their are no Nubians in the pictures i post only ethiopians. Also the language which is Cushitic family was only labeled 50 years ago. The afro asiatic family language was called Hamtic before that. Cushitic is not only a language, it is also an identity that many of the people in the horn use to refer to themselves. It is scientifically proven that all the people in the Horn are related, what is now Somalia was controlled by Abyssinia before Islam. |

By the way, I like somali pirates, they are so gangster lol, gotta make those people pay for their fishing in somali waters. The Diaspora support the Feds because they are Nationalistic where as Alshabaab doesnt care about Somalia and seeks Islamic state. The Somali pirates are Original Gangsters. |
