Somalis on the coast made contact with Arabs and Indians, but today Somalis are immigrants everywhere and realize the people outside their borders who look/resemble them like people in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Southern Egypt, southern India.

Remember Somalis were nomadic and some were on the coast trading with foreigners, its only recently that they have come to expose themselves to the rest of the world in terms of culture.

I have been interacting with Somalians since the time of Siad Barre.

First there are 2 Somalilands at that time, Italian Somaliland (south) and British Somaliland (The North).

Secondly Somalis used the Italians to get Ogaden back from Ethiopia. That land originally belong to Ethiopia until the 1500's when we took it and half of Ethiopia after defeating the Ethiopians and portugal with the help of the Ottoman empire.

In the cold war Somalis used USA and Ethiopia Soviet Union.

Also Somalia and Djibouti (ethnically Somali) are Both members of the Arab League and it helps when government documents are in both Somali and Arabic.

If this was the case than Somalis would not Speak Somali and would be Arab. By the way I think yo are self projecting. You obviously dont know Somali people if you think we wear weaves. First our hair is naturally long and soft. Secondly we cover our hair unless the women are at weddings. Thirdly the majority of Somalis dont even know such thing as a weave exists since they are new to the west and since they cover their hair and dont see the purpose of showing their hair unless around other women. Your argument is mute, even other Somalis on here who dislike me will tell you about Somalis not knowing or wearing weaves.
