The local name is Xamar, its internationally known as Mogadishu. There are no Arabs in Mogadishu (maybe a couple hundred turks). Just cause Arabs came there to trade doesnt mean they created the place. Somalis have lived there, it was arabs who came there to trade with us.

Its like Somalis going to India to trade and saying they created India. Doesnt make sense. Mogadishu has over 3million people. It was the capital of several Somali sultanates.

Am in the neighbourhood. I know many landlords love Somali tenants as they usually rent out entire flats to accomodate extendend families and pay years in advance. Some people may think this close knitness of family ties is a weakness but its actually a strength, and an avenue through which the society can guard its morals, wealth and freedom.

Once you are scattered and isolated, then enemies creep in and steal away and turn themselves into a false option of security. Thats why I do not believe ethnic identities are bad. It is a system of governance, one directly in opposition to the Western ideals of capitalism, democracy, and individualism. It is one very powerful weapon. Thats why it has never been, never will be projected in positive light in the eyes of the West. They know if that happened, African resources would revert back to its real owners, the people. As an example, these people know there is oil in SouthWest Somalia. So impose a "democratic" government, get the bid and take it away.

I believe that strengh derives from the fact that Somali family structures remain unscathed by both colonialism and urbanisation. There is a Somali social, economic system that works for the Somalis independent of the Western market. The rest of Africa should learn this independence and break free of the indirect control by the West through its imposed systems.

Also, colonialism in Somalia was much different than in the rest of Africa. Europeans were not free to go about in Somalia, as Somalis were fighting them till the U.N. made Somalia a trusteeship in order to form a government under the U.K. and Italy. that was for 10 years 1950-1960. Before that we were fight the British, Somalis in the south did work with the Italians to invade Ethiopia to get back the Somali region of Ethiopia.

We happen to be lucky in that their is a strong identity in what it means to be Somali (Muslim, Somali language, culture, shared history, we look the same, homogenous).

As for the Black hawk down incident. That movie didn't even have Somalis, they used west african actors. And the U.N., USA, EU, all got their butt whooped by one sub sub sub clan, in one district in the capital Mogadishu. lmao


Also Somali governement is essentially the family, where the husband is the head of the house hold. We even have our own customary laws that date back hundreds of years. Its called Xeer.

It's not that they didn't have any interest in dividing the Somali clans, it was because they couldn't. The Italians, French and the British were allowed to roam the vast Somali territories in the horn by the Somali clans. In Djibouti, the French were granted naval bases by the Somali Issa clan and the Afars. In British and Italian Somaliland, the British signed treaties with the coastal clans and they never entered the mainland. People in south Somalia made sure that the Italians knew that if a Somali person were to get whipped or mistreated, an Italian soldier would pay the price.

See if you really did use google you would've found info on cushitic ethnic groups in Tanzania. For example you would've found info on the South Cushitic languages. There's also Cushitic ethnic groups in Tanzania like the Iraqw, Gorowa, Alagwa, Burunge etc!

You can clearly see the map, and the languages relatd to Cushitic (Afroasiaitc : Arabic, Hebrew, and Ethiopian languages) all are in the Horn of Africa and travel toward North Africa and the Arabian peninsula.

Somalis were not taken as slaves. Infact it was Somalis who freed the Arabs from the Portuguese when the Portuguese took over the arabs and their Bantu slaves in Kenya. The Somalis and the Ottomans freed the Arabs so they could go back to owning their Bantu B!tches like god intended.
