At this point I’ve just realised that our advise is not worth it. Let people choose what day/time/month/year they want to come. Border no fit close and people wey dey here no wan comot go marry or even attend important events for naija . Everybody will be alright last last. Love and light ✌ bligs: Madam you don't have to be insultive, opinion differs, present yours and let it be. NSW premier can only speak for NSW and Peter Dutton doesn't have any power regarding border closure not even Scomo, they will all act base on the advice of Chief Medical Officer. Are you aware that Western Australia boarder is still shut till February, Tennant Creek a town in NT are in 3days lockdown starting from today, Queensland open its border on Monday and introduce 14days mandatory quarantine today, Tasmania open its border on Wednesday and introduce travel restrictions today after discovering 3cases. Regarding Australian border, absolutely anything can happen. PS: Forget the media brouhaha, Australia can survive the next two years and if not more of border closure. |

“Australia can’t afford to go into another lockdown”?? Omooo I dey laugh when I see statements like this. Listen, when it comes to Aussie border restrictions NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING is guaranteed for temporary visa holders. Aussie is a country very protective of their vulnerable and aged persons, should anything threaten the public health they will do anything to protect that. Especially with the elections coming up soon, they will not want to ruin the good records they have. No go dey reason am o. If you have the visa leave as fast as you can. Love and light ✌ NB1912: Stop spreading FUD. Singapore's travel ban on Nigeria has been in place since 5th of December. Moreover, UK has lifted the travel ban on Nigeria, so i don't see Australia banning Nigeria. So far, the vaccine has proven to be effective against the Omicron variant as no vaccinated person has ended up in the ICU. Australia cannot afford to go into another lockdown or close it's borders. Businesses are suffering and it's hitting the economy very hard. The best they can do is to increase the mandatory home quarantine from 3 to 10 days etc. Temporary closure is no longer an option.
Everyone relax, the gate of paradise is open |

If the course is on the skilled list for either 190 or 491 then that's splendid. From my perspective, opportunities are quicker in community services, social work, health fields (RN and EN) and IT. But that is my perspective and maybe someone here who has had some experience with marketing might add their opinions. Also sometimes it's not about what you prefer it's about making smart and informed choices. Goodluck and cheers! Admirabellebnf: Thanks a lot for your response.
Like you advised,my agent says I can apply for MPH,then switch courses when I get there. He suggested Social Work as PR will be faster, but I'll really prefer something related to Sales/Marketing,like an MBA(since I have the experience already).
Can an MBA get me a PR? Found these job positions on the skilled list,Sales and Marketing manager, Marketing Specialist,Market research analyst. Which of them have readily available jobs?
I'll appreciate your feedback pls |

I would say whichever one works for you then you go ahead and do it. I don't exactly have the right answer for you I'm sorry but the social work degree does give you a higher chance of job opportunities and PR. seunfoster: @AyaE I would like to have your opinion and that of other experienced ones on this platform in my present position.
I have an offer with UTAS on MSc Finance (Data Management) specialization and I have accepted it and also went ahead to submit documents needed for GTE. However, I also applied for MSc Social work in the same school through another agent and I was given an offer that includes 6 months BSW and 2 years MSW.
My concern now is my educational background and work experience suit MSc Finance but I have engaged in some voluntary activities in my place of work and also personal that I stated in my SOP when applying for the MSW. Will it affect my VISA processing if I go ahead to accept the second offer on the ground that my educational background does not align with social work or I should just stick with the first and change when I arrive in Aussie?
Kindly help with your candid opinion without reservations. |

Before you decide on any course, I'll advise you to check the skilled occupation list. The most common pathway for graduates of MPH is Health Promotion officer and the jobs are quite limited. Should you intend to stick through, it's possible to come in and switch courses after your first semester. Don't come and pay millions for a course that won't get you PR. Admirabellebnf: Hello house, thanks for all you do.
I need s the gurus especially someone who is in OZ to advice me urgently.
I have a B.Sc in Anatomy but work experience in corporate sales for about 4yrs. I also have MSc in Public Health. My agent thinks student route is better so I want to apply for Public Health MSC in Australia and came across Torrens University programme, MBAMPH. Agents feels it's a good course based on my academic a and work background. What are the employment chances with it (high/low) or do I just apply for MPH in Federation University?
Also is the MBAMPH certificate, a 2 in 1 certificate,or 2 separate certificates?
Secondly, can anyone send me a good SOP sample please
Thanks |

Big big congratulations!!!! Ekarl: Thank you so much! I Applied through an Agency (ACA) to 3 schools in July 2020, got an offer to Griffith University in August to study Human Resource management/international Business for the 1st Trimester of 2021, I accepted after a month of waiting for other offers, payed total deposit in October after passing GTE, got COE in November then I started arranging documents for Visa Application. Applied for visa on the 13th of January 2021,biometrics followed almost immediately on the 18th of January that same day I received a letter to go for my Medicals, Got a date for February 2nd I went and got my Medicals done then the wait game started! Along the line my passport expired applied for a new one which took almost six weeks, at a point my school called that they were canceling my admission since I refused to enroll ah! (how I overcame that one is testimony for another day) God was just faithful, I had lost hope and enrolled for another ielts exam make I carry eye face Canada lol, (exam is next week btw) and God showed up strong for me, when I got the NJL everyone kept telling me to withdraw my application, I refused because the error was not intentional and was not done by me I prayed like I have never done before ah all Glory to My daddy in heaven! Only him deserve all the Glory! My agent took all the blame and attached documents to her comment letter and on the 9th of September barely 2weeks I received my Grant! Hallelujah! God is greatest! God is alive! What God can not do does not exist!!!
Documents submitted: Statement of purpose Sponsor letter Academic documents (everything down to the least certification I have) Work documents (must include Leave letter from place of work) COE Reference Letter Yellow card Police clearance report Passport data page 2 Passport photographs Note: I didn’t use Bank statement because they waived it off as at then, only my school requested for a bank statement. I use my case as a point of contact to everyone waiting and believing God for a breakthrough on their visa application, yours will come! You too will testify! For what God can not do does not exist! To God be the Glory! |

I haven't heard of visa interviews. Its all online. You'll definitely need your transcripts for admission and possibly visa application. Cheers. Honeysweetest: I am new to this thread, I am confused,is it that Australia doesn’t conduct visa interview? Have been seeing granted without transcripts, please clear me,this is strange. Thank you |

1. Even if your family is unemployed you can claim time difference and the mental stress it would cause from your lack of sleep as an excuse. Just try not to do all four courses this semester. Even people onshore are struggling and trying to reduce course load. You can spread the remaining courses when ever you come onshore. Besides as long as COVID and the border closure is the reason for extension completion time, your visa would surely be extended. 2. What the government has decided is that you studying online would not affect your post study visa. That is, unlike before where you had to study onshore to qualify for post study visa of 2 years, your chances would not be in anyway be affected if you are outside Australia. Cheers. ocpaschal: Ok but my fam doesn't have any work and is not occupied with anything else. He can handle the four courses.
But sir, I want to ask you, if u are only doing one course per semester, when will you be able to do the other courses you are offering?
The Second question I still find personally confusing is that since we have gotten our grant visas and also doing online classes in Nigeria (outside Australia), is there any possibility or chance that the Australian government could agree to extend our visas due to d fact that the Australian borders are still closed and we aren't able to travel to Australia and had decided to study our courses online? We are suppose to be in Australia, working over there and studying too but they closed their borders. Will Australia make up for their border closure and give us d chance to recover d period we couldn't travel to Australia from the date of issuance of visa till the time when their borders are opened for int'l travels? |

I think what your agent is trying to prove is the Gap years/months. Australia immigration mandates you to provide proof of any gap period that is more than 6months. They do not expect that you should be idle for more than 6 months at any period in your life. Its not compulsory you have a paid employment to fill those periods, it could be community service, religious engagement (like a group in church) or volunteering services. You will need to provide documents for this too (pastor or Local government chairman can write a reference for you regarding stuff like volunteering). Goodluck. ThatPetiteChic: Hello house, pls your advise is needed urgently. An agent is processing my admission for February 2022 in UNSW. The agent rejected my CV because I have been unemployed since November. They are insisting I update it to the present day even if it means falsifying it. I wouldn't want to lie and I will start looking for documents to back the false information.
Must my CV show I am currently employed?? If I falsify my employment details, will I need extra documents to back it up? If I insist my rejected CV be used like that, will I lose my admission? |

Most Nigerians do disability work because the hours are flexible and the pay is fair. I'm not sure about driving a tractor because you would still have to convert your nigerian driver's license to aussie and the standard class is class C which restricts you to a certain type of vehicle depending on the weight. So if you bring the normal licence here it will not be equivalent to the one required to drive a tractor. Other skills you can learn is hair braiding or servicing of cars I guess. Just worry about getting to aussie and having some money to 'hold body' for like 4 months. P.S: beg your dad (or save up) to pay for at least half of the second semester. Dan113: Good day house, I am still processing my admission, pls I need advice, after all the first payment I need to make, school fees and all that, which my dad would be paying, he already told me that after that I would make the rest via working and paying my fees, but he is willing to sponsor me so I could learn how to drive a tractor as in going to the school, guy pls would advice me to learn that or is there any other skills i should learn instead of that, as I have to be working and paying my other fees when I get to australia as no other help may come from home, pls somebody should advice me. |

The relationship is indeed far but I think with the right packaging and the God factor, nothing is impossible. Can't the sponsor transfer the funds to your mum? Maybe if the sponsor pays your fees using her account and write a very convincing letter of sponsorship saying why she wants to sponsor you (e.g your mum accommodated her or sponsored her in school when her family could not afford it)...it might work. Ask your agent for other possible options. You will have to show proof of relationship tho. seunfoster: Thanks for this.
I have another situation at hand, my sponsor is my cousin (her mum is my mum’s cousin) and my agent is saying that it my not fly because the distance is too much. I would appreciate any advise from anyone. Pls note that this person travels to the US and UK a lot and from what I heard they share information.
Thank you |

Not to discourage you but from the look of things and the way the new budget is set up, I highly doubt the borders will open this year. However, I heard some schools are pushing to bring in students this year and with the crisis in India, one can only hope they look to Africa. My advice is, whilst keeping the faith alive pls be realistic. Aussie be like movie cos e shock me say dem fit lock border for one full year sokia4real: Do you think borders will be open this year ? |

lomaxx: I was hoping that one day I would give my testimony on this thread. I got my 5-year visa grant yesterday for a PhD in Medicine at the University of New South Wales. Applied Feb 3, 2021 and it has been 3+ interesting months. I did it all by myself because of the experiences shared on this thread - I started from the very beginning and read every page. This is me saying thank you to everyone that shared their stories.
Now we wait for the borders to open. Congrats!!!!! A 5 year visa is a long one so definitely you'll come in. Congrats once again. |

It's okay to just say thank you for the information and walk away even if it's not useful. Someone took out time to respond to you and is not being appreciated. This is why most people don't even try to help and honestly I don't blame them. Maybe we do not know about transit visa or what it entails but this is why the thread is titled 'Australian student visa enquiries'. Nigeria is frustrating enough and the time difference (inclusive of workload + study) for those is Australia can also be exhausting. Let's all do better and not make it any harder for each other. A little love and 'thank you' hasn't killed anybody. Love and light peeps ✌ Sweetas2: Lol is not really compulsory to quote what you know nothing about ..with this right here you just mention means you don't really know what you are saying don't bother ..mind you Qatar airlines transit from Brisbane if you want I can go ahead n mention the flights number |

You can use your maternal uncle as a sponsor. Just be ready to show proof of relationship such as your uncle and mum's birth certificate, your mum's marriage certificate and yours. I don't know much about data science but if it's on the migration skilled list then you are good to go. Moderate fees in aussie is around 4m to 6m for a semester. I'm afraid you'd have to do the research yourself and compare schools. Also confirm there is no accreditation body for the course. If there is, make sure the school you take is accredited. Goodluck. Amahjosh: Good evening all, please I need your suggestions
1. I studied Electronics and Computer Engineering here in Nigeria but want to do a master's program in Data Science. Is Data Science a good program in Australia with high employment prospects in Australia with getting PR as the goal.
2. Can I get suggestions of level schools that are very good in Data Science with moderate fees, Currently I am applying to Deakin University?
3. Can I use my maternal Uncle as my sponsor who is not bearing the same surname as me or my mum? He is willing to sponsor. Can someone that is not bearing my surname or my mum's previous surname sponsor me?
Please help with an answer if you can. |

NPC means national population census abi commission. I'm not sure. I know it costs about 13k and it gets ready after 2weeks. That's what I submitted as proof of relationship between my mum and sponsor. Also for marriage certificate (since my mum lost hers).
You don't seem to have a lot of 'potentially risky' documents. That's good since you want to change the age. I wish you all the best. Also, proving your 7year gap year is not a problem. You were in school at that time so it covers for it. All the best!
