ITS MY YEAR OF YES AND AMEN IN JESUS NAME |
2019 to 2020 Cross over Night. Topic: YES AND AMEN. 2 Corinthians 1: 20 “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” Introduction. I am going to limit this sermon to God’ promises for His children and His children having faith in Him to claim it with amen. In which once you say amen you believe it is done. YES AND AMEN (The word “yes” is Greek and means certain and true. Amen” is Hebrew and means “so be it” or “it’s already done.”) I want you to get prepared tonight to cross over to your year of YES and AMEN. There is an inviolable constancy and unquestionable sincerity and certainty in all the parts of the gospel of Christ. If in the promises that the ministers of the gospel make as common men, and about their own affairs, they see cause sometimes to vary from them, yet the promises of the gospel covenant, which they preach, stand firm and inviolable. Bad men are false; good men are fickle; but God is true, neither fickle nor false. YES. This are the promises of God for our life through Jesus His son. This are promises that will surely come to past in the life of those who are ready to say Amen! 2 Corinthians 1:20 says the promises of God are “Yea” and “Amen”. “Yea” means “yes”. The promises of God are not “yes” then “no”. They’re not “I don’t know” or “Maybe so”. The promises of God are “Yes!” Will He save you? “Yes!” Will He heal you? “Yes!” Will He deliver you? “Yes!” Will He set you free? “Yes!” Will He supply your needs? “Yes!” The promises of God are “Yes” and the promises of God are “Amen.” Jesus said in Revelation 1:14 that He is the Amen, the faithful and true witness, and the beginning of the creation of God. Jesus is the Amen! Amen means “So be it.” Amen means “It’s already done.” The promises of God are “Yes.” The promises of God are “So be it.” The promises of God are “It’s already done.” Every promise in the book is “Yea and Amen” but every promise in the book is conditional. The problem God’s people have with entering the promises of God is while God is saying “Yes, it’s already done” to what we want, God’s people are saying “No, I can’t do it” to what He wants. While God is saying “Yes, It’s already done” to what we need, God’s people are saying “No, I won’t do it” to what He needs. God is looking for someone who will say “yes” to His will and “yes” to His way. God is looking for someone to say “Yea” and “Amen” to Him. God is looking for a “Yes” man. God is looking for someone whom will say “Yes, I’ll go”, “Yes, I’ll say it”, “Yes, I’ll do it”, “Yes, I can handle it”, “Yes, I can make it happen.” God is looking for some “Yes” men and “Yes” women whom will say “Yea and Amen” to Him. In Eze 22:30, God says “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land..but I found none.” God is still looking for that man. God is still looking for that woman. God is still looking for someone to say “Lord, here am I.” God’s looking for someone like Abraham to say “Lord, here am I” when he needs someone to make a sacrifice. God’s looking for someone like Moses to say “Lord, here am I” when he needs someone to represent Him before kings. God’s looking for someone like Samuel to say “Lord, here am I” when he needs someone to minister in the church. God’s looking for someone like Isaiah to say “Lord, here am I” when he needs someone to proclaim the gospel to the world. God is looking for someone to say “Yes, Lord.” Jesus said in Lu 6:46 - And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? If He’s Lord, you can’t say “No, Lord.” You have to say “Yes, Lord.” If you say “No” to the Lord, then He is not Lord of that area of your life. And if He’s not your Lord of all, you gradually, eventually find that He’s not your Lord at all. You have to say “Yes, Lord.” You have to say “Yes” to His will and “Yes” to His way. “Yes, Lord, I’ll trust You.” “Yes, Lord, I’ll obey.” “Yes, Lord.” “Yes, Lord.” “Yes, Lord.” Jesus was a “Yes” man! He did everything the Father told Him to do. Luke 2:49 says He was about the Father business in the temple at age twelve. John 12:49 says He was under commandment what He should say and what He should speak. In John 5:30, He said I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. And in the garden of Gethsemane, said Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Jesus was a “Yes” man, so I want to be a “Yes” man. Jesus said “Yes, LORD” so I’m going to say “Yes, Lord”. I’m going to say "Yes" and "I’ll do it" because God is looking for someone to say “Yes” and "I’ll do it." “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17 Yes are His words concerning our life such as When you are tired “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30” When you think its impossible “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.'” -Mark 10:27” When You’re Ready to Give up ““Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” -Matthew 24:12-13” Example of the promises and there fulfilment in the bible. Promise: Genesis 18:10 “And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) Fulfilment: Genesis 21:2-3 “For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.” 3. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.” Promise :2King 7:1 “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” Fulfilment: 2 Kings 7:18, KJV: "And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:" WILL YOU SAY AMEN TO THESE PROMISES THAT WILL SURELY MANIFEST IN 2020 1. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. 2. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11. 3. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2 4. And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. ; Deut.28:13 5. Psalm 92 Vs 10 “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” 6. “There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.” Exodus 23:26. 7. Isaiah 33:24 “And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.” 8. Proverb 26:27 “Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.” 9. Joel 2:26 “And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” 10. “And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.” Malachi 3:12 11. Isaiah 58:12 “And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” 12. Luke 21:13 “And it shall turn to you for a testimony.” CONDITION FOR THE FULFILMENT THESE JUICY PROMISES These promises come through Christ but must be claimed by us (“spoken by us”). One must know Christ in order to claim the promises that come through the Promised One. God is looking for people who say “Yes” and “Amen” to Him. These promises are given for the glory of God, not just for our good. The problem with most Christians today is they fail to keep going to the next level they become comfortable with where they are now they have become ease in Zion when the Bible declares Woe to them that are at ease in Zion. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1. Matthew 15:26 “But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.” Meaning you must surrender your life to Jesus God bless you as you enter into year 2020 your year of YES and AMEN (promises fulfilled) PASTOR O O ABEL |

CELEBRATING THE BREACHES: I said a breach can be defined as the act of breaking; or state of being broken; a rupture; a break; a gap; the space between the severed parts of a solid body parted by violence; as a breach in a garment, or in a wall. Looking at the definition we would all agree that breaches are not palatable happenings or situations, yet the topic says celebrating the breaches. Except we want to deceive ourselves ,no one on earth do have his or her life, career ,ministry ,academics, finances, health and marriage absolutely free of breaches. It does not matter how much you love God, dedicate your entire life to Him. Breaches remains inevitable in human life. WAYS BY WHICH BREACHES COMES Breaches could come from God in other to test our faith or to correct His children. For example Job was enjoying the relationship with God until his faith was to be tested. You need to remember the fact that it was not Satan that suggested testing Job’s faith, but god himself did, Job 1:8. Meaning, when God is so proud of you, He might allow some breaches so as to test the authenticity of your faith and love for Him. 2 samuel11:27b says “But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.” 2 Samuel 12:11 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbor, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. 2 Samuel 12 :13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Breaches could also occur as a result of our sin. Ezekiel 18: 20a says “the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” A good example is Samson and Delilah in the book of Judges 16. Here Samson committed the sin of disobedience and inability to control sexual urge or emotion which led to his sleeping with Delilah. We all know how Samson ends it all not fulfilling destiny at all. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO TYPES OF BREACHES The first one is for a test of faith or correction. For this reason it comes with divine strength i.e. if we are conscious of the availability of such strength, to pray, and to maintain hope and faith in the lord, with the uttermost intension of making you a brand new person after the repair of such breach or breaches as the case may be . The second one which is the breaches orchestrated by our sin or by demon who gained entrance through the gap created by our sin its uttermost determination and end point are total destruction ,demolition or even death (if one does not recognize and repent from such sinful act) EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WITH BREACHES AND HOW IT WAS REPAIRED 1. Jesus at a point in his life time as a human being in the flesh experienced the breaches ,he said in agony “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me”: but he quickly handed over everything to God by saying “nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (hand all over to God) 2. Jabez experienced financial breaches, and the bible says he prayed . 3. The woman with the issue of blood whom doctors has taken reasonable amount of money from without any result decided to take action by touching the hem of Jesus garment.(take a step) THE SONG BY THOSE CELEBRATING THE BREACHES 1 .If my father was alive I would have succeeded. If this is what you keep saying till now, you are simply celebrating your breaches. You need to throw this statement behind you. 2. The doctor said I have only 365 day to live. It was the Doctor who said so not your God, don’t celebrate such breaches, declare what the bible says in Psalm 118:17” I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” 3. If I had married the right person my marriage would have be a role model. Stop this statement don’t celebrate the breaches in your marriage there is no perfect marriage anywhere, just make this one work. 4. My childlessness is the hand work of mr or mrs soso and so who are my enemies. Please stop this breaches celebration declare Exodus 23:26 “There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.” KEEP MOVING, KEEP GOING If care is not taken breaches can cause dejection: a sad and depressed state: low spirit, despondency, discouragement, unhappiness, desolation, hopelessness upset and disappointment. None of these words can make one have a long life, it is my prayer you shall not die young in Jesus name. Jephthah was insulted embarrassed, rejected and disgraced just because a woman who chose to be an harlot gave birth to him, (what is a child business with kind of life style his mother choose to live) • He was ridiculed by his brother • He went to live with vain men IN THE PROCESS OF TIME Judges 11:4: this was a terrible time in Jephthah’s life there was a wide gap but the book of Isaiah 40:31 but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Someone like him must have picked up a declaration Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me. • He was latter soughed after. It does not matter how long you have been rejected or abandoned you will soon become the only solution to the problems in you land in Jesus name. • He gave conditions before he could return with them. I see you having mouth over your enemies in Jesus name • If Jephthah had celebrated the breaches he wouldn’t have become the head. HAND OVER TO THE REPAIRER OF BREACHES AND BRIDGES Bridge connects, meaning that if you can submit in totality to the breach repairer He will repair and also put the collapsed bridge in proper shape Because He made all things work together for good for us , God is ready to fill the gap. You only need to pray, and take a bold step. Run from sin for the soul that sinnet may not get out of breaches if not repented. Ezekiel 18:20”The soul that sinneth, it shall die. God bless you as you stop celebrating your breached. As a body of Christ we are to intercede for each other , if you feel i need to pray with you ,please feel free to contact me via: pastorooabel@gmail.com God bless you. |
Cambridge dictionary says Completeness is : the quality of being whole or perfect and having nothing missing Another English dictionary says Completeness is ,the state or condition of having all the necessary or appropriate parts. For the sake of my sermon today which is in the context of motivation I will to go by the second definition that says (Completeness is ,the state or condition of having all the necessary or appropriate parts.) Our bible text . 2Chronicles 31 vs 7 and John 19:28-30 In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. One fact for every one is to know the word completeness can never come to be if you don't start something . John 19:28-30. "28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Anyone who fails to lay his or her hand on something should not be talking about finishing it. So before you start talking about completeness I need to ask you here . 1.Are you prepare to start writing that exam successfully complete it. 2. The admission processes you embarked on ,do you complete it . 3.The work you are learning , do you complete it? 4. That landed property you want to acquire ,why is the money not completed. 5.The house you are building why is it not completed ? 6. All those abandoned project why are they not completed .. All these questions above need an answer each and this will lead us to the second point that says FOR HE WHO WANTS TO EXPERIENCE COMPLETENESS. 1. Procrastination : the action of delaying or postponing something. 2. Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished by a certain deadline. It could be further stated as a habitual or intentional delay of starting or finishing a task despite knowing it might have negative consequences. Causes of procrastination A Fear of Failure. In my experience one of the most common causes of procrastination is a deep-rooted fear of failure. If you fear the consequences of failing, then a logical extension of this is a disinclination to take action. ... Procrastination is comforting when you fear failure. Cure: Understand and accept that failure is not fatal. Most mistakes can be fixed, and you will get a second chance to right any wrongs. Obviously don’t go into a task with a mindset of failure … but realize that mistakes do happen. Furthermore, train yourself to understand that failure to take action and give something a go is actually worse than being unsuccessful in its execution. If you try and fail, you at least have the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. If you never tried in the first place, then you’ve got nothing to show at all. 2. Excessive Perfectionism Another common cause of procrastination is excessive perfectionism. If you are a self-confessed perfectionist, then you might find it difficult to take action unless you know you can do a job with which you will be totally satisfied. This becomes a problem when you have to try something new, or different to what you are used to. Because of an ingrained perfectionist mindset, you will either consciously or subconsciously worry about being able to reach an end-state that will be to your liking. It’s a great thing to be proud of the work that you do, and to want to do your best. However, when your mental picture of something you want to complete is actually beyond what you can reasonably expect to do, then you have a problem. Basically, you know that you won’t be able to do as well as you want … so it’s easier to do nothing at all. This excessive perfectionism causes procrastination by encouraging you to put off attempting a task until you think you can do it perfectly. In many ways, this is similar to the “fear of failure” concept I outlined above; except that instead of believing you cannot succeed at all, you worry that you cannot meet your own high standards. Cure: Aim to do your best, and be happy with the output. Accept that there is no such thing as a perfect job (especially if someone else will be critiquing your work – their idea of perfection will differ from yours). 3. A Lack of Focus A lack of focus in life is another frequent cause of procrastination. Although some people like to claim that “the person who does not know where they are going always travels further”, this idiom does not mesh well with those of us who are predisposed to procrastination. You probably have a lack of focus if you frequently feel directionless, or that you do not really have a purpose in life. If you do not have any goals set, then it is almost certain that you will be lacking in focus – as you have no target to work towards. You may simply feel as if you are just drifting through life. This lack of focus causes procrastination by preventing you from homing-in on an “end point”. Instead, you will wind up expending all your energy in the here and now, with nothing to guide you towards productivity. Cure: Set yourself some inspirational-yet-attainable goals. It’s important to set the bar high enough to encourage you to take action, but not so high that you are likely to fail (which isn’t good for your motivation and drive). A good goal encourages you to take action, because you do not want to disappoint yourself by failing to achieve what you set out to do. Effect of procrastination . 1.it's keeps us bellow the standard of God for our living. 2.it encourages poverty. 3.Your family remains in archaic world while others keeps moving with computer age. 4.You will risk your health. Procrastination is linked to mental health problems like stress and anxiety, and these in turn are linked to health issues. If your procrastinationleads to feelings of depression, over time this depression will start to affect other areas of your life. (Then you start talking about enemies and arrows here and then ) Conclusion You should now have a solid understanding of the primary causes of procrastination. What is crucial at this stage is to find the causes that speak most clearly to you. As I mentioned in the introduction, understanding what has caused procrastination in your life will give you the power to fight back against it. Once you understand why you are procrastinating, you can take steps to overcome the problem and experience a much more fulfilling life. God bless you all in Jesus name . |
Pr 22:6 ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. {Train...: or, Catechise} {in...: Heb. in his way} Fighting corruption among our youths ! It begins from your family The most basic element that constitutes the nation is the family. The nation is a large group of people that share a common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country, state, or territory. The structure of the family at the bottom should reflect the government at the top level. The family and the government have their own heads. The government has its own arms with their own distinct roles, which are similar to the different members of a family, and their roles. THE FAMILY AND THE GOVERNMENT For the government at the state level to function, the family at the bottom level must be functional. If the family structure crumbles, the government structure will crumble too. The family is like the epicenter of a government. Its failure will ultimately destabilize the government. Traditionally, the family was the smallest unit of the society. Several families made a clan and several clans made the tribe. Therefore, both the family and the state are comparative. The virtues or the vices that flourish at the state level reflect those at the family level. If virtues or vices abound at the family level, they also reflect those at the state level. This case applies to corruption with precision. CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA Corruption takes many forms. It often entails dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, including bribery, embezzlement, and abuse of office. Generally speaking as “the abuse of entrusted power for private gain”. Corruption can be classified as grand, petty, and political, depending on the amounts of money lost and the sector where it occurs. ~Transparency International. Corruption is prevalent in many societies and governments of the world. It goes beyond material gains to issues like morality, ethics, and values. In Nigeria people often detest corruption by mere words but not by actions. Corruption cuts across all spheres of politics, economy, and society. The police service always tops the list of the most corrupt agency of government in Nigeria For the common citizens, corruption is a way to obtain favor. NIGERIANS pay bribes to avoid arrest, to gain promotion at work, to get a job, or to secure a place in some schools for their children. The government’s procurement and tendering system is also a major conduit for corruption. The society views corruption as a way to make quick money and get rich without effort. This is despite the view by the majority that corruption is a major problem in the country. Corruption is the reason why we do not progress, alongside negative ethnicity and bad leadership. EDUCATING THE CHILDREN TO FIGHT CORRUPTION To reduce or to eradicate corruption in Nigeria, three key players are paramount. They are the father, the mother, and the teacher. These terms can represent other adults symbolically, such as guardians, extended members of the family and neighbors. These people influence a child during the child’s growth. Parents and teachers play a huge role in the life of a child. Young children mimic what their parents say or do at birth. The parents form the foundation of what the child becomes early on. The teachings of the parents influence the personality and choices of the child thereafter. When the child goes to school, they meet the teachers who also play a major part to impart knowledge in them. The parents and the teachers can teach and influence the children to hate corruption. They can instill the values of hard work and determination and the benefits of reaping what they sow. However, they should not preach water and drink wine. They should ooze the same values and follow them to the core. With such values, the children will grow appreciating the need for integrity. Transparency, accountability, and hard work will form the basis of their lives. If we have majority of them working in government as adults, then they may instill the same values and reform the corrupt government system. PARTING SHOT Right now, Nigeria has a leadership crisis because the politics we have encourage commercialization rather than professionalism. Politicians look for political seats to earn money and some civil servants join the government to enrich themselves illegally with taxpayers’ money. Yet, we all know where these corrupt and incompetent people come from. They come from the same society we live in, as crooked as they are. It is important to bring up a new generation that is ready to fight corruption in the country finally. For this to happen, parents and teachers must begin and cultivate it at home and at school. Parents now celebrate their children fraudulent act, youths now have guest for money / wealth than education. Pr 22:6 ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. {Train...: or, Catechise} {in...: Heb. in his way} |
How can you repent when you've repented a hundred times before? Joe called and said he needed help. He was frustrated, he was discouraged, and he wanted to know what he could do. Joe has had this problem for years. He has prayed about it. He's wrestled with it in his mind countless times. He's even fasted in hopes of overcoming this sin. Yet he's never been able to stay away from committing this sin for longer than a month or two at a time. The pull seems so strong and this angers him, yet he's been unable to do anything about it. The phone rings. It's Mary Jane. She too is crying. It's been almost a year since she last gave in, but she has done it again. She seemingly cannot stay away from this particular sin. She knows what God says about it. She knows she is wrong, yet she still gives in and then wonders if God will really forgive her. How often have you experienced something like this in your life? What does it take to really overcome habitual sin? Is it even possible to overcome habitual sin? Have you ever found yourself saying, "I know the Bible tells me to repent, but I feel as though I have done that many times and yet I'm right back where I started...I don't know if I can really do this." For many people, trying to overcome sin has led to discouragement, frustration and even a defeatist attitude. Why is that? What is the difference between someone who feels that way and someone who experiences peace, happiness and fulfillment as he or she tries to overcome sin? How Can I Stop the Cycle of Sin? Let's ask and answer the question: How can I stop the cycle of sin? Simply put, the answer is through understanding and practicing repentance that works. By that I mean repentance as defined in the Bible as opposed to any other idea or definition of repentance. Repentance literally means "change." The Greek word is metanoia, which means change. To repent is to change from sin to belief in and obedience to God. Although sorrow is a part of the process of repentance, there is considerably more than sorrow. Sorrow is what many people relate to when they think of the term repentance . But as I hope we all know, we can certainly be sorry for all the wrong reasons or motives. There are different types of sorrow. Some sorrow is selfish, but not the sorrow we experience when we are truly repenting. Repentance that works requires no less than three steps. Genuine Sorrow Toward God Because of Our Sin When we are young children, we learn early to be sorry that we have to suffer consequences for disobedience or unwise choices. What we don't tend to learn for quite a while is to be genuinely sorry to God for sinning against Him. Notice David's attitude and frame of mind in Psalm:51:1-4 . As he cried out to God in repentance, he showed that he wanted to be cleansed. He understood that he needed to be cleansed thoroughly . And as verse 4 shows us, he knew exactly who he sinned against. As a result of knowing and acknowledging this, he showed genuine sorrow toward God as opposed to sorrow for being caught or sorrow that he wasn't able to have or do something he wanted or sorrow that he no longer had something he once had. His sorrow was because he sinned against God. There is no possible way you or I can be genuinely sorry and repentant if we do not clearly see that, when we sin, it is the Word of God that we have ignored or forgotten. We offend our Father in heaven, our Eternal, our Creator, our life giver and life sustainer—and that is why we need to correct and change what we have done. Let's consider an example. Joe breaks down and gives in to his desire to have an affair with someone. After doing so, he is caught or he feels so sorry that he tells his spouse. But there are different reasons to be sorry. • He could be sorry that he hurt his wife. • He could be sorry that he broke up his family. • He could be sorry that he set a lousy example to his family as well as the person he had the affair with. • He could be sorry that this will cost him financially. • He could be sorry that he lost an innocence that he can never have back. • He could be sorry that others will question whether or not to trust him. • He could be sorry that he got caught. • He could be sorry that he is now depressed. • OR he could be sorry that he sinned against God. Now obviously there is a chance he could be sorry for all of the above reasons. But repentance that works only occurs when our primary area of focus is that we sinned against God. We may have hurt ourselves and others around us, but the fact remains that we sinned against God—and that must be squarely addressed before any change can or will occur. Notice Paul's words in 2 Corinthians:7:9 . He told the Corinthians it did not in any way excite him to see them be sorry, unless their sorrow was toward God and led to repentance or change. Verse 10 points out the difference between worldly sorrow and the sorrow found in repentance that works—worldly sorrow leads to death, whereas the sorrow in true repentance leads to salvation. The thought progresses in verse 11. Simply put, godly sorrow (sorrow toward God) breeds a fire inside us that stirs excitement and diligence and zeal for the truth of God. In turn we grow in faith and we begin to change how we think and how we operate. By way of an example I believe we can all relate to, I'd like to try and magnify what Paul tells us here. Example: Let's say you have a child. For whatever reason your child chooses to disobey you. Now disobedience of parents is bad enough, but additionally in our example, your child is disobeying the Word of God. And to top it all off, he (or she) is struggling with you as the parent because he is convinced that you have hurt him because of your stance. In other words, the way he sees it, you are not understanding or loving enough so he ends up feeling sorry for himself because he sees you as hurting him. What he doesn't realize is the hurt he has brought you. You can see the decision he has made is going not only against what you have asked or taught him, but more importantly against what God teaches in the Bible. So while he is feeling sorry for himself, what he does not see is that his decision should lead him to a genuine sorrow toward God. The point again is this—you and I absolutely, positively will not repent or change until we recognize our sin is against God. This is the beginning of repentance that works. In the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, notice what he had to learn. In verse 18 he understands that he sinned against God by participating in "wasteful" living. Another example is that of David in 2 Samuel 12. Verse 13 shows he recognized his sin was against God ahead of anyone else. Repentance Involves an Inward Repulsiveness to Sin, Followed by the Actual Forsaking of It Job's example is one that stands out when considering this point. In the final chapter (chapter 42:1-6) we see Job showing that he understood what he was not aware of when God first allowed him to be tested. He says in verse 6, "I abhor myself." He was repulsed by sin in him and he was more determined than ever to change what needed to be changed so that he would not continue to sin. I think all of us can relate to this. I don't know anyone who professes to be Christian who wants to sin. However, there is an enormous difference between not wanting to sin and not sinning because we hate it. I'm reminded of a quote from my favorite football coach of the past, University of Alabama's Paul "Bear" Bryant: "There is a big difference between wanting to and willing to." He was referring to perseverance on the football field. But this could also be said about overcoming sin. It takes much more than wanting to overcome. We have to be willing to see sin for what it is—a death sentence. Then and only then will we show that we are willing to repent or change and overcome the cycle of sin. Paul states in Acts:26:20 that, if we truly repent, our works will show it. They will be "works befitting repentance." This then raises an important question for each of us. Are we showing through our daily activity a repentant spirit? Are we changing in all the ways we need to? Obviously we are not perfect, yet a Christian continues to strive for perfection nonetheless. In Matthew:3:8 we see the same words that we saw in Acts 26. A Christian bears fruit worthy of repentance. It's much more than a wanting to. It is a willing to. Repentance Includes Humble Self-Surrender to the Will and Service of God So first comes the recognition that we sinned against God, then comes an inward repulsiveness to sin, followed by the actual forsaking of it. And lastly comes the humble self-surrender to the will and service of God. As members of God's family, we should know both what we are to be changing from and into. We are to change from selfishness to selflessness. We are to become a new creation ( Ephesians:4:17-24 ). Do you remember the stark change in Paul at the time of his conversion ( Acts:9:1-6 )? Notice verse 6 where he said, "What do You want me to do?" This is the heart, the attitude, you and I are to have from the time we are called into God's Church. "What do You want me to do" is one of the most beautiful phrases in all of the Bible. This is the attitude of a servant of God. This is the frame of mind you and I must incorporate in our daily lives. "What do You want me to do" tells God, "I'm listening and I want to obey You. You show me what I need to understand and how to live because that is all I want to do. I want to do what You want me to do." Notice this attitude in Acts 2. Imagine being told and understanding that it was Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God, whom you were happy to see crucified (verses 22-24, 29-36). Verse 38 gives the instruction on repentance that is so often quoted. Yet notice that the previous verse (37) shows that beautiful humble attitude, "What shall we do?" This is such a teachable frame of mind, one that is willing to not only learn, but do whatever it takes to be right with God. This is humility—this is the heart of a servant. This reflects a spirit of repentance, a change from where we once were. If you are struggling to overcome a certain sin, why not ask yourself, Do I really understand repentance that works, and am I really willing to practice it? Am I truly willing to change? If we need encouragement in this arena, perhaps we could remind ourselves of the positive lesson in 2 Chronicles:15:1-4 . It is so very important for each of us to never forget that, if and when we truly turn to God in repentance, no matter what the situation, He is there and we will know it. "When in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them" (verse 4). When you and I show a genuine sorrow toward God because we recognize we sinned against Him, when we have an inward repulsiveness to sin followed by actually forsaking it, and when we humble ourselves and surrender our will and service to God, He will be found by us. We never need to worry about God not hearing. Repentance that works involves much more than being sorry for what we have lost or for being caught or for being depressed. Repentance that works requires practicing steps that lead to change. www.reconciliationcentre.com.ng |

Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.” Genesis 7:7 Introduction Family is Great! Here are some things some people say about family: “I don’t care how poor a man is, if he has a family, he is rich.” Dan Wilcox and Thad Mumford “You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.” Desmond Tutu “An ounce of blood is worth more than a pound of friendship.” A Spanish Proverb “A man travels the world over in search of what he needs, and returns home to find it.” George Moore “No success in public life can compensate for failure in the home.” Benjamin Disraeli I used the family of Noah for our text this morning for various reasons. First, they were a complete family. Second, they overcame a great crisis together as a family. Third, they stayed together as a family. Fourth, they were united in doing God’s work as a family. Fifth, they were just like any other family we have today, imperfect yet with great possibilities. Picture a happy family in your mind. What does a happy family look like to you? What words or pictures describe a happy family? Laughter, peace, eating together, fun, going out together, eating out together, going to church together, doing things together, playing together… What is a happy family? What makes a family happy? I would like to point out the following Ingredients that make for a happy family. I. God The MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT in making a happy family is GOD. God started the Family, therefore, if a Family is to be happy, it must begin with God. The Bible says, Noah was a Righteous Man – a man who was right with God. God was an important part of his life. The first attack of Satan against man was not an attack to destroy his relationship with his wife (or vice versa). His first attack was to destroy the relationship of man with God. The Devil understood that the happiness of the family had its source with God. Satan was successful in separating Adam and Eve from God. That’s the reason why there was so much heartache in their home after that (remember, Cain murdered his brother Abel?). The Devil knows that the beginning of unhappiness is when families depart or move away from God. Jesus Christ came to bring man back to God and give families a chance to be happy again. So, a happy family or a happy home is where God is the center. Everything revolves around God. Every member of the family has a personal relationship with God. (John 1:12) They go to church together. They read and study the Bible together. The pray together. They sing to God together. They serve God together. Just imagine a family where half of the members are serving God and the other half is serving the Devil! II. Forgiveness In some families, please is described as the magic word. In our house, however, it was sorry. Margaret Laurence Forgiveness is a recognition that no one is perfect, that everyone is bound to make mistakes. So, a happy family is where forgiveness is extended. Forgiveness means, “I am hurt, but let’s start over….” It is acceptance. Forgiveness means another chance. In happy families there are no SECOND CHANCES, only chances!!! Here are some rules on forgiveness: When you are wrong ask forgiveness. Learn to accept fault when you are at fault. When you are right extend forgiveness. Never abuse the forgiveness of your family. Do not prolong anger, extend forgiveness at the first sign of repentance. Do not keep a record of wrongs. If you dam wrongs, a time will come when they break out and do more damage. Let the past remain in the past. Do not raise the dead. Forgive and Forget. This means that what has been forgiven must not become an issue again. Mistakes, even when forgiven, have consequences. Understand that forgiveness sometimes does not remove or erase consequences. Sometimes, a father may forgive a son his fault, but he has to discipline him. III. Appreciation Our God is a God of appreciation. He appreciated creation. He appreciates us when we are good. Whether you know it or not, our family members crave appreciation. To appreciate means to recognize the qualities of someone. Here are some guidelines for appreciating your Family members: Learn to give appreciation. Some of us are embarrassed to give appreciation. We need to practice. People who are appreciated develop into the appreciation (just like people who are always criticized degenerate into the criticism). Appreciate little things and big things. Appreciate thoughtfulness. People who appreciate are thinking people. Verbalize your appreciation. Appreciate loudly (publicly), criticize silently (privately). Appreciate more, criticize less. Accept appreciation. IV. Respect Respect means to esteem someone. Maybe the Golden Rule is the best principle to apply to the concept or idea of respect. Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31. “Do to others what you want others to do to you.” (Positive) “Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you.” (negative) If we live by this rule in our homes, we will have better homes and happier families. 1. Respect People Older than You. Before Cable TV, Cellphones, DVD, and Computers came along, our young people were very respectful young people. I can still remember: (1) when passing through a door the old must pass first, (2) when getting food on the table, the old must get first, (3) when sitting, the old must sit first, (4) greetings when going in or out of the house, (5) when we go home we usually kiss the hand of our old folks, and (6) I think we are the only people who has a word for those who are older than us (Ilonggo: Manong, Manang, etc.) We need to bring back the practice of showing respect in our homes if we want to have happier families! 2. Respect family member’s Privacy. Do not open letters, wallets, etc. without permission. 3. Respect family member’s Person. Do not share family members’ secrets or personal information with other people. There was a study where hundreds of couples were interviewed. The study had one question: What thing your spouse did that you dislike the most? The number one answer was: When my husband/wife shared my secrets with someone else. Sometimes our children are embarrassed when we share their secrets, especially those who are already in their teens. V. Contribution Everyone in the family has to contribute to the welfare of the family if the family is to be a happy one. Some Rules on contribution: Money is not the only contribution. Sometimes, simple cooperation is enough. Give much, expect less. Contribute willingly, not grudgingly. That’s one way of saying, “Contribute with a smile.” Contribute, don’t be selfish. Outgive others. Do not count your contribution. Do not count the contribution of others. A Happy Family is where everyone is a contributor. Conclusion It takes the whole family to make a happy family. Do your part. The happiness of your family is in your hands. May the Lord grant you happiness as you live together as a Family. God bless you. |

For every one who wants to be a conqueror it is not something you just wake up one day and achieve it has to be achieved using the right tools that is why i am giving you six tools for a conqueror A clear picture is critical in battling your giants. The picture must include detail, and it must be as complete as possible. Art scholars teach students that a great picture shows perspective. And Billy Graham declared, We can see the picture more clearly if we look at it from the cross. Thats where we think you should start. Sharpen Your Tools: God has given you many giftstools that can be used in any battle that you might face. They are uniquely yours and customized to fit your life and your battles. Your tools will work effectively only if they are honed and ready. Develop a Plan for Defeating Your Giants: Davids objective was to defeat Goliath and rescue Israel from impending destruction. He had formulated a clear picture of victory in his mind. Train for Victory: Most great athletes have one thing in commonthey train nonstop. Our devotional lives, prayer time, and moments spent with God are training regimens that not only take us deeper into Gods Word but grow to stand up against our struggles. Be sure of your God. 1 sam 17:37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee. Run Boldly to Meet The Giant: David was ready for the battle. He did not hesitate. With abundant courage and amazing nerve, he ran boldly to meet the giant. No giant, no matter where it resides or how large it seems, deserves control over your life. You were created for more for a purpose. |

Reconciliation center 2015 love feast SUN.28th DEC.2014 TOPIC: THE MERRY HEART PREACHER : O.O ABEL TEXT: Ecclesiastes 8:15 15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. What does it mean to merry? Make merry old-fashioned to enjoy yourself by drinking, singing, laughing, etc: 1. lively and cheerful: full of or showing lively cheerfulness or enjoyment a merry laugh Apart from the spiritual activities we observed during Christmas also its a time to make merry. Why are we doing these? I mean why we make merry. We make merry because: 1. WE ARE NOT VICTIM OF AFFLICTION ‘Pr 15:15 “ All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast” 2. GOD HAS ACCEPTED OUR WORKS SINCE JANUARY TO DECEMBER . Ec 9:7 “Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.” 3. WE ARE INCREASING 1Ki 4:20 ¶ “Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.” 4. TOPIC: CROSS OVER TO REMEMBER BIBLE TEXT : EXODUS , 14 : 11- 16 11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. {for the...: or, for whereas ye have seen the Egyptians to day} 14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. 15 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Every 31st of December usually attract crowed to most churches, unfortunately many just talk about cross over without knowing what it really mean., To cross over is not an easy thing; it has to do with life or death. Forwardness or stagnancy, in fact I call it a do or die affair, some cross over to poverty while some to breakthrough. It all depends on you. I have this illustration, using a tooth paste tube, when the tube is empty and we say there is no paste again this is usually remembered in the morning at the time to brush teeth , u discovered that when u press the tube of the paste, something must come out, if u fail to get another paste you may need to cut the tube to get paste the following day . What am I saying? you must not be stupid to allow an out going year to go without vomiting your valuable things Crossing over requires a lot of determinations, while some wants to move forward some has accepted evil and demonic fate. We could see the Israelites in Exo.14 : 11 how the they murmured against Moses that they want to remain in bondage. Do you want to cross to joy or you want to remain where you are? Its all depend on you. THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO MAKE THIS CROSS OVER THE ONE TO REMEMBER 1 .By not allowing the outgoing year to go with some valuable things that belongs to you, You can prayerfully have those things now and they will manifest in the following year 2 .If you give your life to Jesus today and let today commence another history of your life by surrendering to ,Him then the cross over will be a one to remember . Evaluate your life make a u turn today. PRAYER POINT SEVEN PRAYERS POINTS TO BUILD THE FOUNDATION OF THE NEW YEAR UPON 1. Exodus 14 vs 21 (And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.) I Stretch my hands to all the four corners of the world, in this new year , ways will be parted for me in the name of Jesus 2. Psalm 11 vs 3 (If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? ) you my 2014 foundation ! you will not be destroyed. In the name of Jesus 3. Isaiah 12 vs 3(Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.) in 2014 with joy will i draw water of peace and joy from my well in the name of Jesus. 4.isaiah 14 vs 3&4 (And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve ¶ That thou shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!) in 2014 i will have mouths over my enemies in Jesus name 5. Isaiah 49 vs 26 (And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob) any one that try to afflict me in 2014 my God will feed them with their flesh 6. In 2014 instead of shame i will receive fame. 7. claim what is in Deu 28 vs 3 - 13 |
