Music/Radio / Davido/sophia: Ola Balogun Flays Dele Momodu’s Reconcilliation Claims by Aygem(m): 5:07pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
As the dust raised by the child ‘abduction’ saga involving Hip hop star, David Adekeke, aka Davido and his erstwhile lover and mother of his child, Sophia Momodu is about to settle, Nigerian filmmaker, Ola Balogun has continued to probe Dele Momodu’s involvement in the matter. Momodu, Publisher of Ovation magazine and Sophia’s uncle had told The Nation on Thursday that the two families, after a ‘marathon meeting’ have decided to ‘move forward together’. This development followed the appearance of Davido, on Wednesday, at the office of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and related offences, to clear his name of the child ‘abduction’ accusation brought against him by the mother of his child. Davido was said to have denied the allegation of abduction, saying he was only taking the baby to the American Hospital, Dubai, for treatment, following alleged cannabis infection from her mother. This was just as Sophia is demanding for the original copy of the purported medical report indicating she that she tested positive to cannabis, as uploaded online by Davido recently. Sophia who has denied that she takes cannabis has written the Clina-Lancet Laboratories, demanding the original copy of the result purportedly issued by them. In a letter written by her lawyer, Gbolaga Ajayi, of S. O. Ajayi & Co, and dated January 5, Sophia said she saw the result of the purported medical test for the first time on the Internet. “Our client gained knowledge of this pathology report that your company issued concerning her for the first time on the social media on Sunday, January 3, 2016. We have our client’s instruction to request you to promptly furnish her with the original copy of the pathology report, as the said report was never given to her. “In view of the sensitive issues that have emanated from the said report, which are still trending on social and print media, we have our client’s instruction that you should also provide a detailed report on the process/procedure that your company adopted in carrying out the medical check on our client, which yielded the report that was issued about our client by your company,” says the letter. However, Balogun who, in letter earlier written to The Nation , took sides with Davido after reading the singer’s account of the incident was decried by Momodu who claimed that the filmmaker’s position on the matter was partial and made out of personal vendetta. Momodu described Balogun’s input as a malicious attack on him and Sophia without caring to find out what led to the present debacle. “I had the highest regards for Dr Balogun and had always responded to his calls and text messages to my London line most times. I wish to apologise to him publicly if I have not been able to attend to his certain demands but it is regrettable that he would retaliate through this vengeful manner,” he said. According Momodu, “It is disheartening that while many well-meaning Nigerians have stepped in to intervene in the face-off between music superstar Mr. David Adeleke, aka DAVIDO, and the mother of his baby Ms Sophia Momodu, my cousin, a senior citizen and film-maker, Dr Ola Balogun, has chosen to cast aspersions on me for reasons best known to both of us.” Feeling slighted, Balogun, in another letter to The Nation wants Momodu to come out clear on his suggestive statement, saying; “I am not at all amused by Dele Momodu’s insinuation that I am somehow engaged in some kind of vendetta against him…I hereby challenge Mr. Dele Momodu to PLEASE publish for public consumption whatever he claims are “demands” that I supposedly addressed to him.” Insisting that the Momodus have no have no right to demand being carried-along in the travel plans and purported treatment of the child, Imade, Balogon said, “I note that he has so far failed to produce any evidence that he or his wife have ever made any contribution in cash or kind to young Imade’s upkeep. “The issue is: What gives Mr. and Mrs Dele Momodu the right to intervene in the life of a child whose upbringing and welfare they have never been known to make any contribution to? “Dele Momodu should please address this central issue and stop throwing around meaningless phrases like “family reconciliation”. “Who is reconciling who and for WHAT purpose?” Meanwhile, it is not clear yet, whether or not the litigations will be dropped following the recent family intervention, as Momodu said he couldn’t spell out details yet because, according to him, “we need to clear out some cobwebs.” thenationonlineng.net/davidosophia-ola-balogun-flays-dele-momodus-reconcilliation-claims/

Sports / Ronaldo: Messi Will Win The Ballon D’or This Year by Aygem(m): 7:56am On Nov 13, 2015 |
The Real Madrid star says last season was the best of his career but that he still expects the Argentine to be crowned the world's best footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he thinks Lionel Messi will win the 2015 Ballon d’Or but is confident he can win the accolade again in the future. The Real Madrid star has won the Ballon d’Or for the last two years but feels Messi, who won the treble with Barcelona last season, is the favourite to win the award this time around. "This kind of trophy depends on votes and Messi won competitions," Ronaldo told ITV. "He won the Champions League and La Liga. "In terms of individual [performances] I probably did the best season of my career, which is good. I was the highest scorer in Europe. "We share this stage at Fifa for eight years. No-one did that in the past, only us. So it's good, I have a good relationship with him. We are not old friends but we respect each other.' However, Ronaldo is confident he can win the title again in the future and says he expects to keep playing at the top level for many more years. "Well I’m still young, I think… I think I can [win another Ballon d’Or]," he added. "I want to play six, seven years more and I think I’m still able to win collective things because if you don’t win collective things, you cannot win individual awards." m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/4055/main/2015/11/13/17268622/ronaldo-messi-will-win-the-ballon-dor-this-year c lalasticlala |

Politics / Osun Judge Not A Husband Snatcher – Group by Aygem(m): 7:20am On Aug 26, 2015 |
The Civil Societies Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State has risen in defence of Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, who one Mrs. Emily Richard-Obire, accused of snatching her husband. The group in a statement made available to our correspondent on Tuesday said it had investigated and found out that Justice (Mrs.) L.A.M. Folami of Ikeja High Court had since dissolved the marriage between the woman and her former husband. In the statement signed by Chairman and its Director of Mobilisation, Adeniyi Sulaiman and Rev. Theophilus Ayodeji, the group said going by the query dated July 28, 2015 issued to the judge by the National Judicial Council, it appeared that the NJC was falling into the antics of politicians by turning the body into a customary court where marital issues were settled. They said the woman’s former husband was free to fall in love with anybody he chose, while criticising the woman’s counsel, Mr. Femi Falana, for allegedly digging up the case to discredit the judge. The group accused Falana of working for Governor Rauf Aregbesola to disparage the judge because of her petition to the House of Assembly that the governor should be impeached. The statement read, “Our group has thoroughly investigated that matter and found out that Mr. Falana was a lawyer to Mrs. Richard-Obire in the divorce case filed with her husband, Mr. Ricahrd Obire in 2012 at an Ikeja High Court in Lagos. “Already, the case with suit number ID/473HD/2012 has been decided and the court, presided over by Justice (Mrs) L.A.M. Folami had legally dissolved this marriage between Mrs Emily and her former husband and so the case remained closed. We believe that by the law of the federation, Mr. Obire has the right in the world to love whomever he wants and to marry anyone without any prejudice. “Our group has it on good authority that Emily’s husband, Mr. Richard Obire, had to file a divorce case because he caught his wife (Emily) having an extra- marital affair with another man outside their wedlock in Ikeja, Lagos State in year 2010. “(Although) we are sure that the woman judge was able to defend herself as our check at the state High Court indicated that she had replied to this query through the office of the Chairman of the State Judicial Commission.” The coalition said members of the group were not surprised that politicians were fighting dirty because of the courage of the judge to tackle the governor based on issues of financial recklessness, but said it was surprised that the NJC allowed itself to be used by these unscrupulous politicians. The statement further read, “We raised the alarm few weeks ago about the over N4.7billion being raised through Operation Save Rauf Aregbesola Project to bribe the NJC members and other stakeholders against Justice Oloyede and with the recent happenings, we hope that the NJC will be able to watch its linen clean in the messy Osun affairs. “Is it not an irony that several serious issues and many petitions bordering on judicial misconduct against many judges across the country are before the NJC unattended to, yet, the NJC had all the time to intervene in a marital matter of Justice Oloyede. “If this matter had been on with Justice Oloyede since 2011 as claimed by Mrs. Emily Obire, why was she coming out now in 2015 to send a petition to the NJC and at a time she was fighting this battle with Mr. Rauf Aregbesola? “Justice Oloyede has the right to love and marry whoever she wants under the law and has the right to practise her religion without any hindrance. We wonder how many family matters NJC will need to settle among several judges in the federation. “We understand the diversionary tactics of Aregbesola and his cronies over the weighty evidences of corruption presented by this erudite judge against the governor. But for the NJC to have fallen into this trap beats our imagination as coalition of civil societies.” www.punchng.com/news/osun-judge-not-a-husband-snatcher-group/

Politics / I’m Destroying Fayemi’s Legacies, Says Fayose by Aygem(m): 6:24am On Aug 21, 2015 |
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says he
will try his best to destroy the legacies of his
predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant
on Public Communications and New Media,
Lere Olayinka, said that he would destroy
Fayemi’s negative legacies including the N86bn
debt Fayemi left behind as well as months of
unpaid civil servants’ salaries.
The governor said this while reacting to
Fayemi’s interview in which the former
governor said, “Fayose is destroying my
legacies.”
Fayose said his predecessor had no excuse for
leaving behind huge debts as a result of white
elephant projects, bad governance and
corruption.
“One bad news that we must, however, tell
Fayemi is that we won’t only destroy his legacy
of bad governance and betrayal in Ekiti, we will
also make sure that economic devourers like
him will never taste power in the state.”
Fayose said no responsible government would
sustain a legacy of over N86bn debt that was
incurred on projects with no direct bearing on
the welfare of the people.
He said, “Does he (Fayemi) then want us to
sustain the legacy of serial betrayal of his
benefactors?
“If he served Ekiti and its people well, why was
it that he was roundly defeated in all the 16
local councils in the state in the June 21, 2014
governorship election and his party was also
defeated 16-0 in the presidential, National
Assembly and House of Assembly elections?
“Even his own party men described his
electoral defeat as the worst in Nigeria.”
The governor said it was shameful that Fayemi,
who left two months’ salary and four-month
cooperative and unions deductions from
workers salary, as well as pensions and
gratuities unpaid, could be talking about his
legacies being destroyed.
He said, “When Fayemi became governor, he
chose to close down two universities
established by the Peoples Democratic Party-
led government of Segun Oni and abandoned
the Oba Adejugbe General Hospital, Ado-Ekiti,
claiming that the state could not fund more
than one university.
“The same Fayemi, who said Ekiti had no
money to fund more than one university,
preferred to take a N25bn bond to plant
flowers that never germinated up till now and
also built a new governor’s lodge, civic centre,
pavilion and executed other irrelevant
projects.”
Fayose said Fayemi had become politically
irrelevant and that was why his erstwhile
political godfather, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,
dumped him.
“Even in the APC, his legacy of betrayal of
Senator Bola Tinubu, the man who made him
governor, is being destroyed.”
“Today, Fayemi has been ostracised by those
who assisted him to office because he has
betrayed all of them, including Tinubu. Does
he then want us to sustain the legacy of serial
betrayal of his benefactors?” he said. http://www.punchng.com/politics/im-destroying-fayemis-legacies-says-fayose/
