mafiacent: D'banj named best African act of the 2012 MTV EMAhmmh |
Another feather has dorned the kokomaster head as he wins the MTV Best African Act Award. Wizkid was the second Nigerian Nominee in this category. Thumbs up to Dbanj! |
The Mobo Awards is here and our own man doing us proud internationally:dbanj of db records is among the nominations for the Best African Act. Nigerian music lovers, kindly show this enigma love by voting him. Lebete lebete! |
alaoeri: That's what i want ppl τ̲̅ȍ understand D'banj 'll surely package & sell his brother & for the Marvin crew they 'll be missing D'banj's factors (swag, packaging & hustling spirit).rite on point. |
K-switch (kehinde oyebanjo) of dbanj records was once at best rated a below-average musician as evident in the mohits pileup but alas!,with the breakup of mohits and subsequent launch of mavin and dbanj records, kswitch ,a mediocre mohits ex artiste had risen from the level of mediocrity to stardom. This can be evident in the general popularity on his monster hit single; 'Sister Caro ft dbanj'. The entertainment world was left reeling in the euphoria of dis smashing song when he dished out 3 singles; 'Owunmi, oluwa is involved, gone are the days. The track;Oluwa is involved is becoming a hit by the day and if this continues,he had risen in leaps and bounds above the mavin crew guys as the Solar Plexus Album was generally adjudged as a flop. This isnt hateful comparison but comparative analysis in music is needed to enjoy and listen to music with entertainment and lyrical flair. Your comments?

dbanj is no doubt an enigma in the music industry. I think d guy would make it hot with this record signing but i prefer koko records to dbanj records. I mean d name |
David Adeleke (Davido) name roared into the contemporary hip hop music niche with the release of the smash hit; "damiduro" and since then it has been a roller-coaster upping for this 19-year old lad. He had earlier released a single titled; "back when" where he featured rhymatic rapper;Naeto C, and as a critical pundit,i didnt fall in love with it as the song sounded monotous with repeated rhymes and uninspiring rap by Naeto C. The release of the full album titled;OMO BABA OLOWO was expected to showcase the real style of music of davido and leave us with the taste of his talent if any. Tracks like all for you, bless me ft may d,dollars in the bank ft kay switch, for you ft 2face,down and ekuro are the sensible and meaningful tracks therein while tracks like no visa ft shina rambo are average at best,in d red by b red is wack while video lacks the feel required. The album generally is a good one and i believe davido tried with this debut effort. Share your views! |
The song of the moment, 'Oyato' by dbanj was received with mix feelings, positive and negative, it initially got a negative reaction from music lovers around but the track just lyk his former hits suddenly developed tissues and began to grow on people. This track is a deviation from the normal hip hop broulaha dbanj is known for but a fusion of afrobeat with lagbaja style chorus. The harmonica did justice to the well-laden beat by jsleek. Reactions have trailed the track most recent ones from the bit-aged and matured music lovers who understands the standard of music. In the words of a business woman named iya tayo from apapa lagos; "i think dbanj is getting more matured with his music presentation with the effect of nice instrumentation, this view was supported by eldee the don by saying he doff his hat 4 dbanj creativity in the harmonically beautified track. One noticeable feeling is that dis track has started growing on nigerians like a philia tissue! Dbanj oyato, oto laye eh,oto laye won! |
Dapo Oyebanjo new single 'oyato' had generated mixed feelings from optimists and pessimists and the idea of a poll to determine its acceptability becomes inevitable. Vote whether its a hit or miss! |
The highly anticipated new single from dbanj 'oyato' breezed into the music airwaves on saturday july 14 2012. This was his first single without the production input of donjazzy, his ersthwhile producer and music lovers had been brewed in anxiety on how this new joint would sound like, but alas! Production wise,J SLEEK, the producer of this new song brazenly did justice to the song with well-laden beats and all was left for dbanj to sing on(even on a poor lyrical note, dbanj is an entertainer though not much of a lyricist). The track is expected to be a monster hit as its purely an entertainment song. This goes to show that no producer is indispensable! Thumbs up to J-Sleek! |
Be yourself |
Mcleo007: Indeed, K-swith did impress me with the song, perhaps because I, like most ppl held little or no expectation of him. For that, I may be tempted to tow in your line of thought that he was not given enuf of an opportunity to explore the music he has to offer. All the while with mohits, he was neither here nor there.broda, ure kinda on point, i neva expected much 4rm him bt he surprised me so much. |
K-Switch, d least heard member of the defunct mohits records comprising of dbanj, don jazzy, wande coal, d prince and dr s.i.d was never expected to hit it musically among the mohit crew as he seem to be the least talented of d group, but alas! With the break-up of mohits and the subsequent inauguration of mavin records by don jazzy with most mohits ex stars (wande coal, dprince,dr sid)and the introduction of talented female vocalist, tiwa savage, k-switch as expected pitched tent with his elder brother and less was expected from him as d focus was mainly on dbanj. The release of Solar Plexus Album by don jazzy together with his new crew 'mavin' was greeted with so much hype but strangely, the album wasnt near the standard level music lovers were expecting as it was a seeminly rushed make-shift mixtape. K-switch, who had no single or album to his name under mohits imprints then came out and shockingly proved doubters wrong with the release of the club banger "Sister Caro" where he featured d'banj. The song became an instant hit and eroded any hyped fame left of mavin crew's Solas Plexus album. The track from the beginning to the end has no dull moment and d'banj did justice to the track by invading it with d swag the koko master is known for. The track is enjoying massive play by dj's around d music arena. This sums up the fact that mohits never gave k-switch the chance to fulfil his potential! I am aware some dudes may disagree over these assertions, you are free to voice out your feelings. |
dammiecool: who send dem message? must he rush to produce an album? n who is he trying to impress? all don J was looking 4 with d so called solar album was public symphathy n he got it n dat is y d album will never stand d test of time cos d motive behind its production was wrong.abi oh broda. Na by force to do album quick? Y d rush? |
betrani: And since when did u become an expert in music? Whoever told u, ur right as regards this album is a joker! If there isn't an album in comparison with this I would say there isn't any basis whatsoever to damn this album as being a fluke! The guy tried! Regardless of the lyrics of the other songs u didn't mention, He still got the bit right! Who told u nigerian artists ever sing sense? It is the beats that has "cotton-swabbed" us from hearin the wackness in the songs ok!it seems u put cotton in ur eyes when i said whack songs over a seeminly nice beat. The post wasnt meant a castigation on d beats made as no mention was made on how poor d beats were. |
Abagworo: @poster. It seems you don't go to club. "Take Banana", "Amarachi" and "Oma ga" are smash hits till this day. Especially "Take Banana".wat kinda club is that that wuld play a whack boring music when they are beta songs out there? |
When Micheal Ajere (Don Jazzy) announced the formation of his new music label, Mavin Records and the subsequent release of its debut album, "The Solar Plexus, many were ancticipating another hit album with the signing of yet anoda act Tiwa Savage but Mrs Tiwa couldnt Savage the album from being a failure as it hasnt gained much appeal from the Nigerian audience. Albums grow on people but it seems this make-shift album waned more than it actually shined despite the powerful vocaling strength of Tiwa Savage. She was allowed just a track on the album with the likes of D prince,Dr Sid and Wande Coal given the freedom to sing whack over a seemingly nice beat. Save for Amarachi,o ma ga, yolo which are average tracks, the other tracks in the album are monotous, boring and noisy,no wonder it couldnt make headway into the consciousness of nigeria music scene. The Mavin crew are surely missing something here! |
And so? |
montelik: Dude do you know how twitter works? Because if you do, you wouldn't be attributing comments Jazzy never made to him.To prove that something is not true, you have to have a fact at hand to show it is fake,if u dont have that, then, you dont have any obligation to say the comments arent 4rm him. |
A new twist had perhaps been added to the dbanj, donjazzy empasse as dbanj unfinished new leak single,'go down' had been rubbished by micheal collins ajere(don jazzy) on the social networking site, twitter by claiming to have produced the beat and because it wasn't good enough, couldn't release it,he even went further to claim dbanj is nothing without donjazzy and crudely said,"make the guy go die". This if its true is a direct affront to dbanj coming from don jazzy (the gentle and matured don we were made to believe) and such scathing remarks should be discouraged to prevent dangerous rivalry. This is the tweet. And if you doubt it,verify it yourself through don jazzy twitter account. Your views?

Why do people get addicted to personalities and celebs so much that they are blind to their flaws? Take it or leave it,solar plexus album was rushed by micheal ajere(don jazzy) and co to remain relevant in the music industry with little recourse to the quality of the songs. The Wande Coal we know isnt as lyrically weak as espoused in this album and d swag imprints of dir sid wasnt as bad as wat is in the album,d prince is a below average musician who is being blended wit good sounds to be marketable but the lack of talent and swag could be evident in the tracks he owns. Tiwa Savage should have been allowed to sing more tracks cos she is super talented and has an outstanding vocal ability, she arguable is the best female vocalist naija hip hop scene has. Oma ga was a nice track by her,the best in the album. Wande Coal Forever is fair enough but the album in a general view is noisy and unforgivably wack! |
Imagine a new picture of the mavins! Lmao! |
sharp man: I am not a fan of any.you are on point brother! |
God bless you Mr. Globe: |
Mr. Globe: |

No you guys are getting it all wrong! Dis isnt a critiscm on don jazzy production but on d musical et vocal imprints, the album looks average safe for the some. Much is expected and less is given. Marvin isnt a spectacular album joor! |
Says you! Bt crap it isnt.ZUBY77: |
