The Civil Societies Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State has risen in defence of Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, who one Mrs. Emily Richard-Obire, accused of snatching her husband. The group in a statement made available to our correspondent on Tuesday said it had investigated and found out that Justice (Mrs.) L.A.M. Folami of Ikeja High Court had since dissolved the marriage between the woman and her former husband. In the statement signed by Chairman and its Director of Mobilisation, Adeniyi Sulaiman and Rev. Theophilus Ayodeji, the group said going by the query dated July 28, 2015 issued to the judge by the National Judicial Council, it appeared that the NJC was falling into the antics of politicians by turning the body into a customary court where marital issues were settled. They said the woman’s former husband was free to fall in love with anybody he chose, while criticising the woman’s counsel, Mr. Femi Falana, for allegedly digging up the case to discredit the judge. The group accused Falana of working for Governor Rauf Aregbesola to disparage the judge because of her petition to the House of Assembly that the governor should be impeached. The statement read, “Our group has thoroughly investigated that matter and found out that Mr. Falana was a lawyer to Mrs. Richard-Obire in the divorce case filed with her husband, Mr. Ricahrd Obire in 2012 at an Ikeja High Court in Lagos. “Already, the case with suit number ID/473HD/2012 has been decided and the court, presided over by Justice (Mrs) L.A.M. Folami had legally dissolved this marriage between Mrs Emily and her former husband and so the case remained closed. We believe that by the law of the federation, Mr. Obire has the right in the world to love whomever he wants and to marry anyone without any prejudice. “Our group has it on good authority that Emily’s husband, Mr. Richard Obire, had to file a divorce case because he caught his wife (Emily) having an extra- marital affair with another man outside their wedlock in Ikeja, Lagos State in year 2010. “(Although) we are sure that the woman judge was able to defend herself as our check at the state High Court indicated that she had replied to this query through the office of the Chairman of the State Judicial Commission.” The coalition said members of the group were not surprised that politicians were fighting dirty because of the courage of the judge to tackle the governor based on issues of financial recklessness, but said it was surprised that the NJC allowed itself to be used by these unscrupulous politicians. The statement further read, “We raised the alarm few weeks ago about the over N4.7billion being raised through Operation Save Rauf Aregbesola Project to bribe the NJC members and other stakeholders against Justice Oloyede and with the recent happenings, we hope that the NJC will be able to watch its linen clean in the messy Osun affairs. “Is it not an irony that several serious issues and many petitions bordering on judicial misconduct against many judges across the country are before the NJC unattended to, yet, the NJC had all the time to intervene in a marital matter of Justice Oloyede. “If this matter had been on with Justice Oloyede since 2011 as claimed by Mrs. Emily Obire, why was she coming out now in 2015 to send a petition to the NJC and at a time she was fighting this battle with Mr. Rauf Aregbesola? “Justice Oloyede has the right to love and marry whoever she wants under the law and has the right to practise her religion without any hindrance. We wonder how many family matters NJC will need to settle among several judges in the federation. “We understand the diversionary tactics of Aregbesola and his cronies over the weighty evidences of corruption presented by this erudite judge against the governor. But for the NJC to have fallen into this trap beats our imagination as coalition of civil societies.” www.punchng.com/news/osun-judge-not-a-husband-snatcher-group/

mankan2k7:tell us why u think so |
Bluetooth2:well, why is fayemi and tinubu no more in good terms? wetin fayemi do jagaban? fayose even talk am. |
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says he
will try his best to destroy the legacies of his
predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant
on Public Communications and New Media,
Lere Olayinka, said that he would destroy
Fayemi’s negative legacies including the N86bn
debt Fayemi left behind as well as months of
unpaid civil servants’ salaries.
The governor said this while reacting to
Fayemi’s interview in which the former
governor said, “Fayose is destroying my
legacies.”
Fayose said his predecessor had no excuse for
leaving behind huge debts as a result of white
elephant projects, bad governance and
corruption.
“One bad news that we must, however, tell
Fayemi is that we won’t only destroy his legacy
of bad governance and betrayal in Ekiti, we will
also make sure that economic devourers like
him will never taste power in the state.”
Fayose said no responsible government would
sustain a legacy of over N86bn debt that was
incurred on projects with no direct bearing on
the welfare of the people.
He said, “Does he (Fayemi) then want us to
sustain the legacy of serial betrayal of his
benefactors?
“If he served Ekiti and its people well, why was
it that he was roundly defeated in all the 16
local councils in the state in the June 21, 2014
governorship election and his party was also
defeated 16-0 in the presidential, National
Assembly and House of Assembly elections?
“Even his own party men described his
electoral defeat as the worst in Nigeria.”
The governor said it was shameful that Fayemi,
who left two months’ salary and four-month
cooperative and unions deductions from
workers salary, as well as pensions and
gratuities unpaid, could be talking about his
legacies being destroyed.
He said, “When Fayemi became governor, he
chose to close down two universities
established by the Peoples Democratic Party-
led government of Segun Oni and abandoned
the Oba Adejugbe General Hospital, Ado-Ekiti,
claiming that the state could not fund more
than one university.
“The same Fayemi, who said Ekiti had no
money to fund more than one university,
preferred to take a N25bn bond to plant
flowers that never germinated up till now and
also built a new governor’s lodge, civic centre,
pavilion and executed other irrelevant
projects.”
Fayose said Fayemi had become politically
irrelevant and that was why his erstwhile
political godfather, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,
dumped him.
“Even in the APC, his legacy of betrayal of
Senator Bola Tinubu, the man who made him
governor, is being destroyed.”
“Today, Fayemi has been ostracised by those
who assisted him to office because he has
betrayed all of them, including Tinubu. Does
he then want us to sustain the legacy of serial
betrayal of his benefactors?” he said. http://www.punchng.com/politics/im-destroying-fayemis-legacies-says-fayose/

Following the relocation of Boko Haram detainees to the Ekwulobia Prisons in Anambra State, the military have taken over the security of the facility. SUNDAY PUNCH investigations showed that security operations in the Federal Government facility are no longer the exclusive preserve of the officials of the Nigeria Prison Service. The development, sources told our correspondent, is not unconnected with the calibre of the detainees being held behind the walls of the facility. A visit by our correspondent to the prison on Saturday showed that armed military personnel were located in strategic locations around the prison. The development has also brought some form of hardship to residents of the host communities of the prison. Free human and vehicular movement is no longer allowed around the place. Our correspondent sighted soldiers compelling passers-by to raise up their arms and get frisked before they were allowed passage. Vehicles were also searched. Residents of Anambra had last week taken to the streets protesting against the relocation of the detainees. But the Federal Government had reacted saying it was a mere rumour. But happenings around the facility on Friday further learnt credence to the report that the Boko Haram detainees had been relocated to the quiet Anambra town. “It is like a war situation. We no longer move freely; we don’t even talk freely because you don’t know who is who now. Armoured vehicles are everywhere” Stanley Ezechukwu, a primary school teacher in the area told our correspondent. One of the soldiers who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “We are here to ensure that the prison is not attacked by the people who have demonstrated their resentment over the transfer of the detainees.” Professor Chuwuemeka Ike, the traditional Ruler of Ndikerionwu, a neighboring community to Ekwulobia , condemned the transfer of the detainees to the area. He acknowledged, however that prisons transfers are normal, but maintained that with the sensitive nature of the prisoners, the transfer of the Boko Haram detainee could have been avoided. A press statement on Saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Media, Mr James Eze, was not specific on whether the detainees had been relocated or not. The statement titled; “The Transfer of Boko Haram Detainees to Ekwulobia Prisons: the true position,” maintained that the governor had not made any official press statement on the issue as reported in some national dailies. The statement read in parts, “We wish to inform the general public that Governor Obiano never made any comments to these publications. Since the eruption of this controversy, Governor Obiano’s position has been consistent. This was fully reflected in the two press Statements issued on Sunday, June 28, 2015 and Wednesday July 1, 2015. In both statements, his message was simple – he re-assured Ndi Anambra that he was on top of the situation and that he was speaking with the relevant authorities to achieve a peaceful resolution of the issue. Governor Obiano’s commitment to this extremely sensitive issue remains the same.” The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Uche Eze in his reaction said the police would not want to comment on the matter as “it is purely an affair of the Nigerian Prisons Service.” The member representing the area in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Eucharia Azodo however urged the Federal Government to rescind the decision in view of its security implications on the people of her constituency. In a statement in Awka on Saturday, Azodo said the Boko Haram detainees would be better taken care of in a maximum security prison, arguing that Ekwulobia Prison did not have the capacity to accommodate such high risk prisoners. She said, “The rising tension following rumours that Boko Haram suspects were relocated from some Northern prisons to the South-East, precisely, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government of Anambra State, gives me great concern. “We all are aware of the fact that Ekwulobia Prison in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State is not a maximum security prison. “Whereas a large number of prisoners, about 134 inmates, are there already in a prison built to accommodate 85 inmates, a total number of 47 Boko Haram prisoners were brought to Ekwulobia Prison in the dead of the night of Sunday, June 28, 2015 amidst tight security.” The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio- cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has flayed the Federal Government over the relocation. The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro who spoke with our correspondent in Umuahia, described the action as “ exportation of terrorism to the peaceful South-East region. The Kano State Government on Saturday described as false reports in some national dailies and online media that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has banned Christians resident in the state from going to church on Sundays. The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Muhammad Garba, who made the remark while briefing newsmen on Saturday in Kano, said the report was false and unfounded. “Our attention has been drawn to the rumour making the round, particularly in the online media, regarding the restriction of movement of people, Christians or Muslims to attend places of worship in the name of a direct policy or under the guise of any other policy. “I want to state here categorically that the story is a complete lie, false and lacks any iota of truth and substance,’’ he said. He said the state government was very much aware and mindful of the freedom of religion as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “We in Kano State as a people and a government cherish and respect our religious differences and therefore will never introduce any policy that will be inimical to our peaceful co-existence and mutual respect,’’ he said. Garba then called on journalists to always check facts and balance their stories and reports with high sense of fairness and responsibility. He said the government extended the monthly sanitation exercise up to Sunday but only for the staff of the Refuse Management Board to enable them clear up the heap of refuse in the state. http://www.punchng.com/news/kano-christians-not-barred-from-churches/ |
Stephen Keshi fired as Super
Eagles coach
The Big Boss has been shown the exit door
by the Nigeria Football Federation for lack
of commitment to achieve the federation’s
objectives
By Shina Oludare

Stephen Keshi’s contract
as head coach of the
Super Eagles has been
terminated, the Nigeria
Football Federation has
announced.
The 53-year-old who was re-appointed as the
country’s senior national team coach in April
was kicked out on Saturday evening, with
assistant Salisu Yusuf and the Technical
Directorate of the NFF led by Amodu Shuaibu
to take offer till a substantive handler is
announced.
“Having thoroughly reviewed the reports/
findings of the NFF disciplinary committee and
NFF Technical and Development Committee, as
well as having reviewed the actions and
inactions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the
performance of his duties as Super Eagles’
head coach, which we found to lack the
required commitment to achieve the
ederation’s objectives as set out in the coach’s
employment contract,” a statement by the NFF
Executive Committee read.
“To this end and pursuant to the provisions of
clause 4.3 of the employment contract
between Mr. Stephen Keshi and the NFF (the
contract) and the various clauses therein, the
Nigeria Football Federation has decided to
exercise its option to summarily terminate the
employment contract of Mr. Stephen Keshi
with the Federation with immediate effect.”
“It added that the termination was “without
prejudice to the settlement of any existing and
due financial obligations between the NFF and
Mr. Keshi.
“In the interim, the Super Eagles’ team affairs
will be jointly managed by assistant Coach,
Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of
the NFF headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until
the Federation names in due course a new
head coach, who, along with the NFF will chart
a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure
credible participation in international
competitions and assist in building a
sustainable football culture for the country,” it
concluded.
The former Mali and Togo handler job came
under intense scrutiny since the 2-0 victory
over Chad after he put a non-league player on
the bench and his name also appeared on the
FIF website as one of more than 50 coaches
applying for Cote d’Ivoire national team job.
