ujoinme: I understand the fact that you guys have been paid to rubbish Governor Akpabio, for any mud to stick on him it has to be something credible not all these flimsy excuses that you guys come up with all the time. With the amount that you haters have been paid i would have expected you to do a better job than this.UNCOMMON |
The guy is very smart. Taking a loan to service another loan. |
Akpabio is always making the news and here is another one. ![]() The good people of Akwa Ibom State know that it takes just hours for any bill sent to the State House of Assembly from their 'master' to be approved. Funny enough, it took just five days for the 'rubber stamp guys' to approve a loan for their 'oga'. ![]() The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the request by Governor Godswill Akpabio to borrow $500 million (N78 billion) from the Standard Chartered Bank International, London. The Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance, Onofiok Luke, said this at the plenary session of the house. He said the committee gave the request of the governor accelerated hearing as demanded. Mr. Luke added that the committee organised a public hearing to ascertain why the government needed the loan “at this time” before approving the request. “The committee hereby recommends to the house for approval of the request of the governor to obtain the 500 million dollars from Standard Chartered International Bank of London,” he said. He added that the approval was “based on the clarity given by the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, and the commitment of Governor Godswill Akpabio to the initiation and completion of life-touching projects”. The Chairman said that the Assembly also considered “the need to bring down the cost of governance and make some financial savings for the well being of the people of Akwa Ibom”. The Assembly Leader, Okpolupum Ette, moved the motion and the report of the committee was accepted; as the house approved the loan for the government. The Speaker, Samuel Ikon, commended the governor for seeking the loan to reduce double digit interest rate to single digit but advised that the facility should be used for the purpose intended. Mr. Akpabio, on April 18, sought the approval of the Assembly for the loan. According to him, the proceeds of the facility will be utilised to offset all outstanding loan commitments of the state government to UBA Plc. He added that the loan would drastically reduce the applicable interest that government would have paid on the facility from UBA Plc which ran into billions of naira. The governor said that the loan from UBA attracted interest rate of 18.5 per cent, while standard chartered bank international loan rate was 8.19 per cent. ![]() (NAN) http://premiumtimesng.com/regional/131068-akwa-ibom-assembly-approves-n78bn-loan-five-days-after-akpabios-demand.html |

Curious_city: Da Owo, while I agree with U that our governors don't need private jets, they should rather make the aviation industry upto standard, these allegations U just posted here are unfounded. True, they all happened in Akpabio's regime, but not necessarily caused by him. We all owe our great state a duty.Is not hatred for your information. Let the truth be told. They are questions to be answered as far as the history of the state is concerned. I know many people here think I have something personal against him. Capital No. I dislike injustice and corruption. Same goes to all the corrupt governors we hav in the country. |
mr Pero: @poster..... M not sure u r a true son of akwa ibom.... U dare open tat ur smellin trap n talk to akpabio. God will judge u n ur generation yet unborn.... If Akpabio has really transformed the state as you have said, how many companies have come into the state? Have many factories have opened branches in the state? What is the unemployment rate in the state like, is it reducing or increasing, what new jobs has been created by the government in the last six years? You said Akwa Ibom host guest every year, of course with our common wealth, all the senators, former heads of states,, house of rep. members will always come because that is where money is in Nigeria or you don't know we receive the highest allocation in the country. Transformation according to you is building of roads, what a pity. So the next governor won't build roads. |
Viclov: ayinisong ur a veri big liar, Akpabio is not d worst Governor Akwa Ibom state has ever seen, u can't just start vomiting rubbish about AKPABIO, he has tried to an extent compared to other current Governors nd the past Governor of AKS, Victor Attah, nd u can't expect him to suit ur taste 100%... As for the examples u've hilighted i.e british prime minister, king of Norway, using commercial planes, u forgot that the condition of our planes used in Nigeria commercially z nt the same with that of the europeans, so u can't expect the Governors we have in Nigeria to use same, or u pretend to forget the crash that took the Governor of kwara state to Germany, If there is the money, any Governor, president, individual can buy for sake of seafty but it should not be as a private matter, bt it should be for the Governor of the state, even if he steps down, the next governor would inherit it.... nd the Nigerian avaition sector should try to sanitize the aviation sectorVICLOV WHERE ARE YOU NOW, ABI YOU DON HIDE? ![]() |

Someone here said it is not the duty of the govrnment to provide jobs, that is what they want you to believe so that you don't ask them for jobs. Did you follow the US elections? The candidates were talking about job creation.Akpabio said in his election campaigns that he is going to provide jobs for youths by building 31 industries in the state remember? Now he is not talking about that anymore now he has aquired himself a jet and you are here saying rubbish. The monies accruing to these states can change these states to look like some developed countries in terms of infrastructure. Has Akpabio paid October salary? Just asking |
Pritheeann: pls stop wad u dnt know..if u had d chance 2be on dat seat,.wad wud u av doneSimple! I will not attack, kidnap and kill my political opponents just to be governor for eight years ONLY with blood on my hands FOREVER. chikena I'm more civilised than your |
rozayx5: I shud rather be saying that to youOn the surface one might think you are intelligent but no. Did I say grant or loan? Guy use your dictionary, grant and loan no be the same thing. If government can give me a loan of 5million I will create 40 direct jobs and 100 indirect in 3 months. I get busines idea brekete.... You people always think that these leaders are better than you are of course for your type because for me I will do 1000 times more than Akpabio is doing. I have a track record, I won't wake up one day and rig myself into power like he did but you will cast that vote for me a vote for change |
rozayx5: This one you just deh talk cause you know deh thereStingy in what sense, did you beg him for money? People like you are the one's that follow politicians up and down begging for money that is why you are always an easy tool for them to use and rig the election. Get busy bro stop licking politicians butts. |

Why did he want to kidnapped Udoedehe's wife, (ACN Candidate's wife in 2011 election), Where is Iniekong Udonwa today,(PDP govenorship aspirant), why was his mother kidnapped and killed just because his son wanted to run for governorship, why was Sam Ewang's wife (ANPP candidate's wife) kidnapped and abused. Why did he order boys to attack Udoedehe and his campaign team in Ikot Ekpene, Ini and Ikono? Where is Paul Inyang, Ekpenyong brothers, chief ononokpono, charles umanah etc? Just funny how some of you don't reason. |
I remember last week I was here lamblasting the governors of Akwa Ibom and Rivers state, and some people thought I did that because I am not from the same tribe with the governor or that they deserve to buy the jets as in the case of Akpabio, him done 'work'. I was ashamed at the way some of us reason. The monies for the jets would have fixed a lot of things. Standard hospitals, schools, industries, roads in the rural areas etc We always cry about the poverty in the Niger Delta region but funny enough it is our leaders and their wickedness that put us in this state. Even if the federal government gives 50% resource control to Niger Delta it will not change anything because it will go into the hands of these corrupt men. Akpabio is the worst governor Akwa Ibom has ever produced. His government is the most corrupt in the the history of the state. Our profligate governors have only succeeded in exposing their poor governance performance to the outside world. A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, wondered why Amaechi and others were obsessed with private jets when the King of Norway and the prime minister fly commercial airlines when they travel. Even Britain’s Prime Minister does not have official jets. He flies in chartered aircraft, sometimes privately chartered, but often he flies British Airways. The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has sometimes, travelled in commercial airlines. It saves taxpayers at least $300,000 each time Cameron takes a commercial flight. Incidentally, while Norway, which produces about the same amount of crude oil as Nigeria, is among the richest countries in the world with one of the highest standards of living, Nigeria is among the poorest. In Africa, Malawi’s President, Joyce Banda, earlier in the year, announced that she would sell her country’s sole Presidential jet and a fleet of 60 Mercedes Benz limousines. She said she would henceforth use private airlines instead. In the past, Nigeria has produced some selfless leaders who had the interest of the country at heart. Such leaders as Murtala Mohammed, Aminu Kano, Tafawa Balewa and Michael Adekunle Ajasin, never engaged in lavish lifestyles at the expense of the citizens. These are leaders our wasteful governors should emulate. Our land is again hungry for them. http://www.punchng.com/editorial/amaechi-and-akpabios-controversial-new-jets/ |
k2039: I wont vote for them because your post is not realistic.Realistic in what sense? Explain further |
Guys going by the current trend of events in the Nigerian political scene as it concerns fight against corruption, I would want to think that if we could have a Ribadu/Oteh ticket for presidential election in 2015, that will be a perfect match to solve this countries problem of corruption. The recent revelation by these non-corrupt government officials has really shown how corrupt government business are being done everyday. Oteh exposed Hembe and his cohorts, Ribadu has also exposed Oransanye. These are people that have the courage to openly disgraced these corrupt people who will stop at nothing to steal everything Nigeria has. Recently, Amaechi and Akpabio has acquired for themselves jets when there is no hospital of international standard in their states with all the oil money accuring to their states every month, schools, good transportation service (you find keke everywhere as a means of transport) and lots more. I bet they will not try this in a Ribadu/Oteh government. Nigerians problem is not and I repeat is not religion, ethnicity as we are always made to believe by the corrupt leaders rather it is a fight between the good and evil, corrupt individuals against non-corrupt individuals, lies against the truth. And we have this set of people in all ethnic nationalities, religion etc. What is your opinion about this presidential ticket? |
As far as this report is concerned I believe Ribadu's report hook, line and sink. Again VOTE FOR RIBADU/OTEH PRESIDENTIAL TICKET COME 2015 . The best team to fight corruption in Nigeria now. |
VOTE FOR RIBADU/OTEH 2015, the best collabo for now!!! Not corrupt and not afraid of corrupt government officials. ![]() |
Nigerians always complain but won't do anything about their situation. Bunch of Hypocrites because they are waiting for their time to steal too. Ribadu and Buhari are the only men now that I know that can fight corruption and clean up this country if truly that is what we want, but you see you won't vote for them because we prefer what we are passing through and will call them Boko Haram. I will vote for Ribadu or Buhari in the next presidential election preferably Ribadu because he is younger, but I respect Buhari a lot. WE KNOW THE GOOD PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, WE JUST WANT TO BE BLINDED BY UNSCRUPULOUS SENTIMENTS AND LIES FED TO US BY PDP AND THIER COHORTS. I can imagine a Ribadu/Oteh ticket , many thieves will run out of this country. ![]() |
rozayx5: Another Frank Okon ApologistGuy you funny well. Did you say you train MBA holders? I pity them sha oo. What do you know about business? So since Akpabio has constructed roads so business should spring up? How funny. Question 1:What are the factors of production? I'll tell you one Mr. MBA trainer, it is capital. How many people has the government given money to start a business? Attah did that. I know many beneficiaries and I think you are one of them. What enabling environment has he creatd for businesses to spring up? No light as the IPP is under construction after 7 years funny, guy you have to read wide. There are so many opprotunities untapped. All the industries in Akwa Ibom are not working not even one. You have to power your business yourself, no loans from govt. yet there is money to buy private jet for the state, high tax from environment, local govt., sign post fee and other funny levies. I have a business mind you so I know what I am saying. |
Humblesam: Must you show who you are in public?can you just control your hot temper and dislike for somebody for a while?Akpabio is not God,so humanly he has done well much more than your TWO BROTHERS who were there before him.we are not kids pls stop teaching us,we av seen enough maybe much more what you think you ve seen.Saints dont tell others they are saints. If you cant 4 once say good of your state govnor who deep inside of you,you know has done fairly well, then you are wicked and partial in your sense of judgement and shame on you 4 letting outsiders do what you suppose to do for your state govnor; APPRECIATION no matter how insignificant goes a long way in motivating the 'appreciated' to do more. Akpabio is a man, whatever strategy he is adopting now is 4 d benefit and good of AKS.Another Akpabio apologist. So any body that does not like Akpabio's style of governance is Ibibio. Very funny. People like you cannot seperate good governance from ethnic sentiment. For the record I be Annang man with a conscience. I am not blinded by the annang sentiment you people are carrying.According to you everthing he is doing is in the interest of the state. So the aeroplane too is in the interest of the state? How dumb can you be? How many Akwa Ibom youths are unemployed yet there are over ten industries that are not working and you know it. I went to Itu and saw paper mill and wept how an average akwa ibom man like you can be so daft not to ask the government to provide jobs. I know you must be a bush man, in US elections the candidates are talking about job creation. I thought Akpabio said he is going to build 31 industries? Where are they? How many jobs has he created? Mind you Akwa Ibom is the state with the highest monthly allocation. You must be a blinded sentimental goat for supporting what is not right. How many people were killed in the gov. election? Hav they gotten justice? You better keep quite and let intelligent people speak. The people you are talking about are the reason Akwa Ibom is where it is now. Attah fought for the resource control Akpabio is enjoying now something Akpabio can never do due to political reasons. Remember Attah did this in his first tenure. The state secretariat and ring roads in Uyo were built by these people you said did nothing. I pity you because you don't know anything about the history of Akwa Ibom State. If you need enlightenment let me know. Ebot mkpo |
This same mouth people are using to praise Akpabio will be the same mouth they will use to say all sorts of negative things by 2015 and this same nairaland wey people dey people dey come praise am go be the same Nairaland wey them go still come abuse am. I rest my case. |
Hahaha... na now una know. Really funny. A state with the highest allocation in the country no standard hospital, school and no industry and some people here are saying he deserves it afterall him don work? Nigerians just deserve the leaders they get period. The state university is like a primary school, hv u seen the school called Akwa Ibom State University. Is that the type of institution the state with the highest allocation can build? I know some of u here live in Aba that's why if una come Akwa Ibom e be like say una don go yankee. How many jobs has Akpabio created through in his government or in partnership with the private sector. Go to Itu, Paper Mill is not working, Peacock Paints in Etinan too, Sunshine batteries, International biscuits, Ceramic coy, etc are all lying unfunctional and the machines are decaying on daily basis. Do you know how many jobs that would have created? And one is here saying he deserves it. $45million will fix wat I just mentioned. I weep for blind pple the politicians will take 100 million and give you 50,000 and you scream how much he has done. |
It's very funny when man thinks he can fight his creator and the creator of the universe. What were they thinking? They will kill christians in the middle of worshipping God and nothing will happen? Okay, they haven't seen anything yet, I knew very soon they will be over. The government should not dialogue with them. They should beg the christians for forgiveness and face the government for the crime against humanity. How can you be offended about something and the next thing you do is to kill another who doesn't know your grievance. I wonder how some people think. They should surrender their weapons and beg the nation on a national broadcast and reveal their sponsors and activities and tell others to stop killing for Allah. The Saudi Arabia they want to go to is it not a muslim nation? Do they destroy their land because they are fighting for Allah. Apologies to good muslims but I wonder what really bothers another what one chooses to worship. |
Let my put the record straight as an amanaisong. I know a lot of yoruba and igbo guys been no know Akwa Ibom before 2007 na why them think say na Akpabio build everything under 4 years. What a mentality. I sori una sha, make una dey try travel go other places no be to just dey watch the effisy for TV. I hv been to 26 states in Nigeria for your information. Remaining 10 ![]() I remember Gov. Nnamani of Enugu and ebano. The man made so much noise even on CNN but I'm still wondering why Enugu cannot be compared to Owerri. Okay back to the issue, the deputy Gov. is a seasoned technocrat, he was the chairman of AKIIPOC(find out the meaning ) which oversaw Attah's projects such as IPP, Le meridain, Investment house, airport, seaport, etc. I knew such a man will find it difficult to work with Akpabio whose sees himself as a messiah. Most of people here on Nairaland don't know anything about leadership, I say this with respect because if you do some of the comments here won't even come in. If I get 17billion as allocation in a month and use 10bn for salaries and road construction won't you applaud me. funny. Some of us don't know what 1bn naira can do. When Akwa Ibom people are talking about Akpabio, it is about policies and Programmes geared towards human development. I know many of you are surprise that the man resigned, that is an Akwa Ibom man for you. He wants things to be done properly. I bet you the day an Akwa Ibom man is president, una go surprise wetin Nigeria go turn into. If to say na Attah be president today chei leave am. |
Gov. Akpabio at the NUJ Press Conference once again showed how ignorant he is about goverance. He was bragging about the road he has built, the repainting of Primary School block, fencing of Hospitals etc. The disgraceful statement he made was that and I quote 'if you stand on the flyover and look down, its like you are in heaven'. The statement was very disgraceful especially to Akwa Ibomites who are well travelled. He should go to lagos and PH to see flyovers yet the govs haven't called a press conference to brag. He should remember that the money he is using to brag was fought for by Obong Attah who he has refused to acknowledge. Besides road projects, building school blocks, hospitals etc are his constitutional duties. The money comes from federal govt. I chanllenge other states governors to prove Akpabio's statement that he is the only governor in Nigeria with no foreign account. Akpabio is a boaster, he was telling the audience lies about Akwa Ibom. We are fed up of lies, 2011 we need a new gov. |
Let me call a spade it's name. My ex left me because I didn't give her as much money as I was supposed to although I didn't have. But I was 100% faithful, truthful, honest and sincere to her. She dumped me and told me that she prefers money to this faithfulness. I was so shocked. So it's money. No money no love. |
Girls don't know what they want! Period. |
Thanks guys. I'll do just that; It's really an issue cos I have a friend who lost his chick to someone esle thru facebook. |
Guys, I really need your sincere advice. My girl is on facebook and she has her pix, contact details I mean everything and over 150 friends who can access her contact details as you know. I was thinking, I wanted to tell her to close her account because I 'm not really save due to the numerous calls she gets from guys on facebook. How do I put it across to her in other not to sound as if am scared. But really am scared. . What should I do. Help |
Hey, guys then you haven't met these type of girls before. What will you say when a girl sleeps and wake with dressing the bed, or will eat and not clean the mat, or clean the kitchen after cooking to keep flies and cockroaches away. Girls the home belongs to you. KEEP IT CLEAN ABEG. I know some of you were ajebo who don't even know how to wash your own clothes. Wise up. |
Hi, guys please I have a little problem with girls. Girls don't like my neat nature. I am a clean guy to the core. I just can't stay in a dirty environment. i keep my house clean everyday, dress my bed immediately I wake up. Wash my clothes and make sure everything around me is clean. But the moment girls visit and see my clean nature, they just run away with no trace. I am not a lazy person, I do all the cleaning myself, I even go to the market to buy things and cook for myself. But what I discovered is that most girls are very lazy and are scared of maintaining my neat house. Should I reduce my cleanliness so some of these dirty girls could at least fit in? or should I continue searching for a girl who is like me? Any nairaland girl interested? |
Take it or leave it. Religion is very very important in a relationship. Let me ask you, when you start having children what will they be? Muslims or Christians? Think about it. I don't support it. After the cloud called love vanishes then you'll see yourself clearly. |
