I sent you a dm. Thanks!

By the way, please what is the retrogression all about?

Adidee:

Hi
You are qualified and would advise you do not waste time in filing due to the retrogression.
You can send a message let me add you to some telegram groups.

You can also do free evaluation with Ellis Porter if you would want to employ their services.

All the best!

Hi all,

Thank you for the great job on this thread. I am interested in the NIW EB2. I have a Ph.D. in a STEM course, about a decade of experience in lecturing/research, and published at least 63 articles with 990 citations in google scholar. My friends in the US introduced me to the NIW. Please any advice on how to embark on this journey?

Thanks!

Please how long does it take renew the B1/B2 visa via dropbox particularly at the US Embassy in Abuja?

Thanks!

I was at the Abuja embassy too yesterday and got the Visa. These vos are very strict and at any sense of insincerity on the part of applicants, such individuals won't be issued visas. I listened to some interviews while waiting for my turn and heard funny responses from some persons.

The Male vo asked me few questions which I answered. He didn't request for any documents from me.

Vo: I see you have been in the US a couple of times.
Me: yes
Vo: what for and how long did you stay?
Me: in 2013 for a conference and stayed for 6days. In 2014 and 2016 for trainings and spent 7 and 6 days.
Vo: who has been paying for your trips.
Me: I told him.
Vo: what are you going for now?
Me: to attend a conference, present some papers and receive an award.
Vo: he now called my name with the proper prefix and said I will be issuing your Visa. He gave me the white paper and returned my old passports after cancelling the previous Visa.
Me: thank you and left.

Hi all,

Please I need to clarify something. My Visit Visa to attend a conference in Australia in June was granted today.
However, I saw a clause which is:

Must not arrive after 05 May 2019.

My travel and conference are in June.

Please can anyone with experience come to my aid?

Best wishes!

Hi,
I think the reason why you didn't get a response is because this is a Student Visa thread and most people here have information majorly on student visa. Why not search for a Conference or Visit Visa thread and seek for the information there.
I hope this helps

Yes, he was refused in April and mistakenly filled in the old numbers while scheduling the new appointment. Please what do you think he should do?

Thanks!

abujaniv:
Hello ayo23us. We don't have any special insight on why an individual failed to attend their visa appointment. We can say that hundreds of people were able to follow instructions and complete their interviews yesterday in both Abuja and Lagos.

In general, turnarounds have one of two causes. One, the person was recently refused, and in making a fresh application, they incorrectly associated their old MRV fee receipt with the new form. Two, they engaged the services of an agent who, through incompetence or malice, made mistakes on their behalf.

Hello VO,

A friend of mine was at the embassy today for a visit visa. Unfortunately, the number on confirmation page of the DS-160 was dissimilar to that on the appointment page. More worrisome, he left the embassy without an interview. What do you advise please? He has to attend a conference in the US by July 9, 2017.

Thanks!

Hi @Takeastep and all!
I got a letter through mail from the embassy asking me to send my passport and travel insurance close to when I intend leaving for Germany for my research stay. I think that's all, no mention of the blocked account.

Best wishes!

ayo23us:
Thanks!

I have a feeling that the VO understood what I was trying to explain when I raised the issue of the blocked or no blocked accounts. She later asked how much I was earning per month hear. I told her and even explained that my pay slip is included in the application docs.

But anyway, let's see what happens as I hope for the best.

Best wishes!

Thanks! Fingers crossed!

Thank God for the success of your interview.

With whatever you are earning as salary + 24Eur per day, I think you should be more than OK.

You need not to open or fund a blocked account.

However, if the embassy still want you to do so, expect them to send you a mail instructing you to do such. But I don't anticipate that.

If it happens they insist and you don't have money to fund a blocked account, you may need to prove your case maybe by submitting your payslips/account statement...and perhaps, you involve your sponsor.

For now, keep calm and hope for the best.

Would be glad to know if and when your interview is done tomorrow.

We await your success story.

And to many others who have received their visa recently, we want to hear from you. How you went about it, the challenges, contours and favours you encountered on your way.

Lots of new guys are here. They want to learn from your testimony.

Many thanks @Takeastep! Thanks for asking. I was about reaching out to you.

The interview went well. I don't really liked their method, despite arriving the embassy around 6:15am, I wasn't through until past 10am. The VO had just 5 of us for the long stay visa (including a guy from Anambra going for undergraduate study).
After we finished the security checks, the VO lady, who arrived the interview counter at exactly 7am, came with a smiling face, and the student guy beside me said it unusual to see her smile. Then I told him today should be good, and it was actually so.
The documentation process was very tedious unlike my experience at the US embassy. I had no issues with the documentation except that she asked me to go outside and get the prepaid courier envelope. We paid 13,500 as application fee. Virtually the 5 of us where asked to go for the envelope.
Afterwards, we were again called for the main interview. The student guy was the first and he spent so much time. Only God knows what sorts of questions he was being asked. But I have a feeling he would be successful.
For me I answered all questions except that she was like staying I have to open a block account that the stipend (24euros/day) my host in Germany is offering is small. I told her that they would pay for my flight and accommodation too and she said she saw it. She asked how much am earning where I work and I told. She said I have to get insurance and I said that is not a problem. Lastly she told me they would communicate me through e-mail. And that was all.

My question: what's your reaction to the block account stuff? Thanks!+

If you are given May 2 as interview date, be rest assured the embassy will honour it. Otherwise a change of date will be communicated to you before the day.

Thanks @takeastep!

Hi All! Would the German Embassy open on Monday, May 2? May 1st is a public holiday falling on Sunday. A holiday should be given the next working day (May 2). What is the fate of those having appointment on May 2? Thanks!
Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by ayo23us: 6:07pm On Apr 16, 2016
Please house, about the documents to be submitted at the embassy, do I have to attached all together and staple them or staple and arrange differently alongside the copies requested?

Then, do I have to go with health travel insurance (because a question about it was asked on the application form) or wait till after the interview?

Please note that I am applying for a research visa and not student's.

Thanks!

The embassy will definitely retained all your documents; original and copies.
To be returned after the visa process is completed using the prepaid envelope. As a matter of fact, you may be asked to submit your passport after the visa processing then receive it along with your documents via the envelope.

Like I said, you may use the courier company at the embassy. Guess there's FedEx or DHL there. Just hold some good cash. Cost will depend on the address you want your documents to be delivered.

If its long stay, pick an interview date via their online portal asap. You need enough time for the interview, visa processing, collection and preparation. So, you better start now!

Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by ayo23us: 11:49am On Mar 12, 2016
Thanks once again takeastep!

I checked through the embassy's website but couldn't get information about the passport biometrics. Could help with that please?

Thanks for the answer for question 7 but I need to understand something here, the embassy would retain my original documents when I go for submission and interview right? And it is these documents that would be sent back to me through the prepaid courier right? Please do you have ideal about this prepaid services with the courier say DHL?

Lastly, when do you advice I submit an application for interview before my departure to Germany?

Thanks a lot!!! wink

takeastep:
Answer 2: If you submit all your documents correctly on the day of interview, you may not go there more than twice; for the interview and for visa collection.

Answer 3: Visa fee is Naira equivalent of 60 Euros (around 14k)

Answer 4: you may check the German embassy website for the passport spec or at best take your passport at the embassy ( though quite expensive)

Answer 7: The prepaid courier envelope will be used to return your documents after the visa process is done. I am aware you can get it at the embassy. Not sure about the cost.

Cheers.

Answer 1:

If you are staying more than 90 days, apply for Long stay. The last time i went for 92 days, I applied for Long stay. Though i was challenged during the interview that i should have applied for short stay, I stood my ground and insisted i will be staying longer than 90 days (My supervisor also advised I go for long stay visa and he sent a supporting letter too). Though you will be granted 90 days visa here in Lagos, you will have to extend for the remaining days when you arrive in Germany. That's all depending on what's written in your letter of invitation. Your letter must be specific on your date of arrival and departure.

Answer 5:

I have no primary school certificate too. I had to visit my primary school and my headmaster gave me a copy of the School's Pry 6 register in which my name appeared. Stamped and signed. Then got an affidavit to back it up. It worked for me. You can do same.

Answer 6:
Biographically old doc is very important. Its used to ascertain your true age vis-a-vis your academic qualifications. So search your house very well for any old document that bears your date of birth. I used my old baptismal card. I know of someone who used her Waec GCE photocard. Look for something.

All the best.

I think you have to evaluate your MS transcript at WES if you are using it to apply for a PhD. ECE is another popular one but most people prefer WES because it evaluation method is favourable. As for your last question, why don't you check the actual requirements of the schools you intend applying to. Some schools don't even require you evaluate your transcripts with those bodies mentioned above.

Pipsland78: Hello good folks, pls I need a clarification on something: as someone who intends to do PhD in the US, do I need to send my MSc transcript to WES? Is the Wes thing only for transfer students?

Thank you.

I'm new to the forum.
My interview is in 12 days, here in Lagos.

My sponsor happens to be a family friend and I have been reading through the blog and through everyone's transcripts. Does it matter who sponsors? Will the fact that the person sponsoring is not a relative raise eyebrows with the VO? What reasons can I give for a family friend sponsoring my program that will sound congent.
Responses please
Gracias!
