I have always wanted to be an EE Engineer due to my Father's discipline.
I sat for JAMB, but due to d not-based-on-merit universities, I decided to apply for FUT, Yola (Now MAUTECH). Applied for EE Engineering, but offered Mathematics.
I decided to defer the admission and went in for pre-degree instead of shamefully staying at home. I eventually got admitted via JAMB d following yr.
Now an Elect/Elect Engr and sooo proud to be one!
Note: Mathematics is a very great and good course as later learnt.
Many of us suffered from lack of orienation though.Its better introduced in our secondary schools!

dayokanu: Mine was funny.

My mom wanted me to study medicine, My Dad wanted me to study Electrical Engineering.

My choice was influenced by the desire to be far from home Lagos or Ibadan.

When i was writing UME in 1995, I wanted to Choose Petrochemical Engineering in UNIPORT and my dad was against it cos its too far away and I told him I would never go to UNILAG or UI where my parents can just walk into my room anytime they wanted.

So a compromise based on distance has to be reached I wanted far(UNIPORT or UNIBEN), My parents wanted nearby(UI or UNILAG) so we chose IFE which was midpoint.

Also choice of course. I hated medicine cos it involves blood and you working at odd hours. Also it was the Effikos and born again that were always studying Medicine and Pharmacy, The cool guys were always in Engineering And I believe even till now that Engineers are the smartest people around. So In Secondary school all the cool guys filled in Engineering and the Born-agains filled in for medicine.

To choose the particular Engineering course, my dad insisted on Electrical and Electronics, I wanted Chemical Engineering, So when my dad was at home I filled Electrical but when he went to work, I changed it to Chemical Engineering and submitted it before he came back from work.

When results came out and he saw it was Chemical I told him I changed it and That was what I wanted. We fought over it and I won at the end.

Graduated as a Chemical Engineer from ife

Engineers remain the smartest o!

bashr8: el rufai deserves no response, obi or anambra people are not accountable to him , anybody that wants to compare anamnbra performance with other states can easily go round the country and see for himself or consult statistics tru google , we have discussed state statistic here on nairaland several time , elrufai is a buffon . nobody have ever claimed that anambra is heaven but it is still among top performing states all round in nigeria so for elrufai to come and brand it worst state to do buisness even with the biggest market in the world situated there and industrial city of nnewi and of course anambras own oil refinery then something is wrong with him

And what about if this statistic is based on d deteriorating state of d economy due to Obi's adminsitration?

If he wouldnt respond with facts, instead of those lame points, then he has no reputation to secure.
Im still surprise to hear that Anambra is like the least in commercialization......Onitsha alone is.....
Obi should come and defend himself with facts, or else he is purported to be a failure, and he will regret not defending today in yrs to come.
I know Ibo men to be business oriented, as I can live in place where Ibo man exists not.
Or could it simply mean that they are leaving their states to go empower other states.
Obi, pls we need ur cogent points laced with facts and figures if ur administration has been a success!

While shopping and preparing for camp, there are some vital things one has to put into consideration.
Since u r privy to dis info, u wont have any reason to take unnecessary items to the camp.
The DON'Ts.
-Don't go with heavy luggage, our ladies o!
The first day could be demanding jumping from okada to another with luggage trailing behind.make it light as possible to help urself.
-Do not go with muftis. U wldnt be allowed to put on any other cloth besides the NYSC kits given to u.
-Endeavour not go with laptop, samsung gallery and d likes of expensive gadgets for security reason. U can always go get them when on ur primary assignment.
-No point buying bucket or jerry can from home.They are sold at mami market at affordable rates.

THE DOs.
- Start asking pple abt the place u r being posted to in case u r not too conversant with d place.
-Make sure u travel as early as possible to avoid unforseen delaying circumstances.
-Travel as light as possible.
-Do obey by camp rules.....believe me, many funs to be experienced.Avoid avoidable harassments from the soldiers.

NEEDED ITEMS:
-Try get 2 extra white shorts to complement the ones given at camp.u might be surprise to see some too tight or to big. And due to well endowed butts, some might get torn.
-2 white T-shirts shld be considered also.
-U can also get an extra white canvas...u will surely wash it, having a substitute is always better!
-Waist bag: Do try to get one before coming to camp, or else u will get it at exorbitant price at mami market.
Its a must for every corper to have one.UNDISPUTABLE!
-Food flask is essential.Its usage can be expatiated.
-Mosquito net.
-If u wanna enjoy d camp, go along with plenty of cash if possible.
-Take along pen&biro since series of organizations and individuals will be coming around to give lectures.

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION.
- Your final year school ID card.
-Notification of result by your higher institution (original and photocopies).
-Four passport photographs....u can take more than four to be on d safer side.
-Call up letter (original and photocopies)

Its better u make sure u have photocopies of ur documents, because u will be asked to go for various signatures.
U will be sent back home, if any of those requirements is missing. BE CAREFUL!
Ur state code will be given to u as soon as u r done with registration. With ur code, u get accomodation inter alia.
