onila: Nigga with game! |
ijebabe: ^^ As a fellow DJ you'd notice thatNa so my person! Wassup with u with entertainment industry....into it or just a fan? |
acidtalk: While growing up, people especially little children and men used to die alot. That business is sooo lucrative! LOL! |
bluejeff: Wanted to be a doctor but i hated (& still hate) maths, and so in s.s 1, i was thrown into art class. That meant no more medicine, thought of something else but there was none except law.(especially with the influence of dad) I went for it, and just when it was my turn to get into uni, post u.m.e was introduced in 2005. Unical made me sat at home for 2yrs, eventhough i made the cut of mark for JAMB. I had to opt for a private uni to for law. But now, am thinking i shld have read something else.Law is classic, y d regret? If any, can u share? |
blue face:I gez 2Baba! |
Waiting for the hits on our tables. D Dj is doing nice alongside! |
AjanleKoko: It's not about the person. It's the profession. Very few engineers have the privilege of career satisfaction in Nigeria. You are on point, but not only restricted to the Engineers as far as Nigeria is concerned! |
Saint Chukz: You are still just in 100level and what u r currently doing there is still basic science and not mainstream engineering yet, so how would you know if its d best course ever or not. Best of luck 2 u though in your future endeavours. When u r in there u have the clue of what lies ahead! Its like peeping into Theraja! |
Tunby: I dreaded calculation subjects like Math,Furthermaths and Physics in secondary school, so I applied for Medicine.Unfortunately for my poor soul after escaping Maths in the UME exam, the kind of questions set in the postjamb was serious calculus and GMAT kind of English though I'd read or is it 'crammed' Chemistry and Biology.Needless to say that I FAILED with crawling colours.I then decided to face my fears, wrote another WAEC to make my Further maths and applied to Unilag,Lagos(Reason? so I can easily "runs" other things alongside) to study Computer Engineering.Today, I'm a 1st class undergraduate of thesame course,Unilag.About Maths? Now peice of cake.Keep it buddy.... Waiting to congratulate u at the end of d tunnel! |
Mbuko91: haba! Nawa for u.....na me be olodo ne?Common, I wasnt referring to u brother. Na that handle, bearing Olodo...... |
Lujan: Money...I was a promising science student & wanted to study medicine bt my sweet parents aren't bouyant enough to bear d "expenses" & upon their candid advise, I switched to arts class in my SS2 with d hope of studying Law. When I bought my JAMB form, I filled Law as first choice & Eng. Lit as 2nd choice with EBSU as my 1st & 2nd choice of institution (because my parents cant "pay" if I study outside my town). Fortunately my name came out on the merit list of both Law & English, but because "money no dey" my parents advised me to go for d latter. I'm now a learned final yr student of English Lang. & Lit., courtesy of Jah's grace.Congrats! |
abdurrazaq: My choice of course was determined by the choice of University. All is well brother. Certainly, brighter future! |
I enjoyed every bit of this thread. I'm studying electrical and electronics engineering at ife because of mom.. She had always wanted to be 'mama engineer'.. Though i'm still in 100level, i think its the best course ever!!!!
Best course ever? Make dey no come tear u apart for here o! |
Danka7777: O boy, how you dey?Im soo good and on point! |
AjanleKoko: If you just started, and you are working as an engineer in Nigeria, it will soon become clear to you.Sincerely speaking, there are some things I do not clamour for.....MONEY! Its not all about the money, but happiness. I do play as a DJ in clubs, and d likes. Im a sociable Engineer, but dont dare look down on me. I grab ur point sha, but its not a prevalent attribute of Engineers! |
AjanleKoko: A plethora of reasons:A plethora of reasons? Not all Engineers brother. Engineering is boring ke? I shared some of ur views though, but the pointed ones! |
Danka7777: What people fail to understand is engineers can work as accountant and other art fields because we have solid math background than art graduates...accountants, economists; though economics is very indepth. All we need is a little brush up in accounting principles and we will be doing pretty well. They wouldnt wanna swallow the fact that an Engineer is versatile and bendable. |
Danka7777: Yes o!Im still following u though! I like great minds! U dey come Asokoro straight or.....? |
Mbuko91: im sowi,i fink he meant, were dey nt taught using english language...nt 'werent u tot english?' i initially misundstud too...buh he's cowect''........i fink he meant......'' U were even correcting him. My brother, nobody is perfect, but I wouldnt hesitate to......... when u r claiming to be a polymath like that Olodo surnamed Autodiapers! |
amefi: I didnt hv money to go to higher institution so i got enlisted in Boko Harem confraternity after my secondary education. No regrets.U really triggered me into laughing! |
CHESSBOARD: Guuyy, You have murdered ENGLISH Here, yet you r askingU shld have left him wandering! |
Actually no one becomes an engineer till they write and pass their COREN (Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria) exams. Two be admitted to write the professional exam, you must have completed HND or B.Sc in an Engineering course and have at least4 yrs post school work experience. I av completed an engineering course. But I haven't written COREN so I dnt call myself engineer. Infact I dnt write it in front of my name. So to those that are arguing abt whether they're engineers or not, av u written COREN? And to those pple without atleast HND in an engineering field calling themselves engineers on construction sites pls stop deceiving yourselves. Engineering is both practical and theoretical and the two are inter woven. It is the theory that is practiced. And finally, to settle your argument. Geological engineering is not a new field. Geologist and Geological engineers. are quite different. A geologist studies science of geology and a geological engineer studies engineering properties, mechanics and application of rock materials etc. A geologist can't write COREN and can never be an engineer but a geological engineer which is usually a specialisation of Civil Engineering at M.Sc level can write COREN and hence can be called an Engineer in Nigeria. In conclusion, the defining factor of the use of the title Engr. XYZ is whether you've have passed your COREN exams or not. QED.
Of course. But I still choose to call myself an Engineer here. Do u want me to use Mr. LOL! Its not easy being an Engineer jare! |
Damojo: Mine is quite different. Studied pharmacy cos I wanted to be in the Medical field and couldn't stand the sight of blood (so I couldn't study Medicine). Parents have been supportive cos when I even switched to banking and now to Oil n Gas, they remained happy. It's not abt wot u studied in school but how vibrant u r to be able to blend in in2 any field. |

Billyonaire: Biochem is a great course. You belong to petrochemicals, find your way in. You wont regret |
Dreamflyin: Alwys wntd 2 fly. Tried NDA against my parents wish, passd d exams but disqualified durin medicals due 2 my eyes ( shortsighted ). My parents den thought dat dey'v won. Compelld me 2 take poly jamb since jamb forms av long bin sold out. I went 4 mech engin, since i've always likd 2 knw hw tins work n get greasy, unfortunatly d cyber attendant put me in 4 EE eng wen fillin up d form. I didnt bother though, cos i've stil got my eyes on flyin. Did mo OND in EE eng at IMT. Parents wish done. Nw my tin, currently trainin as a pilot in south africa, wat my heart reali yearns 4. No regret so far. Helleluyah!!!!!Can I PM u? |
