Jamescool2: My experience is quite different. I went to VFS application center in Lagos to submit my application to obtain a South African visa in June, with the intent to travel in January. They collected my documents and didn't tell me I booked early. But it's been over 5 months that I submitted application but I've not heard from them till now. I don't know why it's taking this long. 5 months!! I would have been so anxious. Have you been tracking it. I believe there is an email or number you can call too |

vibrant99: For that certificate, I think they are making money for some persons because the agents downstairs would do a quick printout of our useless acknowledgement letter from a ministry, I think this guys just do these things in Tandem.
You should apply 3 months before, not before, that's correct,

I visited the VFS center in Abuja for my South Africa visitor’s visa appointment, which I am applying for in order to undertake a postdoctoral fellowship, and I encountered two issues:
1)Upon reviewing my yellow card, I was asked to obtain a yellow card certificate from the Ministry of Health because they were unable to verify it online due to the yellow fever website being down.
2) I was told that I had booked my appointment too early. They stated that appointments should be made no more than three months before the intended travel date, whereas I had scheduled mine 3 month and two weeks. So, I was 2weeks early.
These requirements were new to me and my friends, despite having gone through the process before. None of this information is available on the VFS website. I traveled over 500 km to Abuja and paid over ₦29,000 to book this appointment
Has anyone heard or experienced this before? |

HAH: It does happen, the power is too much for the adapter so it won't take it, so the solution is to add more load to the generator or going to the generator to reduce the strength of power output, You could be right. Right now my power adaptor would not supply power a to the decoder at all when on my portable generator but works fine on PHCN. I would try to turn down the voltage a little and see what happens. |

I got a call a few minutes ago to come pick up my letter at DPR’s Lagos office. I don’t know anybody in DPR and my parents and relatives are not even aware know that I applied to DPR. I applied online and undertook the aptitude test and interview in Lagos. My application data are as follows: - Mechanical Engineer Graduate Trainee - Interview Location: Lagos - State: Ogun - First Class BSc degree in Engineering and MSc degree (Distinction) in Engineering from the UK
From my experience, I would say that DPR definitely hired some new employees on merit. This is quite commendable. Finally, I sincerely appreciate everyone who shared updates on this thread over the past two years. Trust me, It was of immense help. I would have missed my interview if not for nairaland. Takon231: Considering whether GT or EH or position applied for is liken to bank hidden charges. Those are the small small properties of a recruitment process. Whether everybody in Rivers state is GT or EH does not render a recruitment process null and void. That permutation is done within the recruiting agency.
What am telling u is FCC standard that must be met before a recruitment is termed valid.
But in all, every ingredient needed to prepare a balanced process would be considered.
You might cook food without onion and nothing happens but u can't cook food with fire (heat). I hope this is clear enough. Crystal clear. Thanks |

Takon231: Disclaimer: pls this scores per state doesn't mean real life situation. Only for this example.
If 10 applicants scored 90% each from Ogun state 15 applicants scored between 70-90% from kogi 5 applicants scored 60% max from abia 12 scored between 60-90% from Rivers
The best 5 from Ogun would be selected (best would be determined with other factors like class of degree, experience, etc)
The best 3 from kogi would be selected
All the 5 from abia would be selected remaining 3 to complete their slot. The 3 would be picked from any other state in the south east.
All the 12 from rivers would be selected and the remaining 1 would be picked from any other state from the south south
Note: an applicants with less than 60% won't be selected instead it would be sorted from other states in the same zone to cover the slot.
The slots being sorted from other states in the same zone to complete the slot for a particular state is just to complete the zonal allocation for that establishment. That is, if 3 applicants were selected from Bayelsa to cover Rivers slot, it means Bayelsa would have exceeded its limit but the zone would still be within limit.
See zonal limits 7 states zone - 11-15% 6 states zone - 15-18% 5 States zone- 18-22%
Questions!!! In your example above. What if the said top best 12 candidate from Rivers are all GT. Would they pick all to fill the available position for GT (I doubt that). If not then there is a cadre/position consideration as you said already. |

If Ogun state has 30 staff already, Rivers has 18, Abia has 26, Kogi has 35 etc and FIRS wants to recruit (assuming they are recruiting 100 new staff), The first step would be to give Rivers between 7-12 slots Abia between 1-4 slots Kogi would have 0 slots first Ogun not get any slot yet.
If after sharing to all other states and they still have some more slots, then,
Ogun would additionally get between 1-5 slots Kogi between 1-3 slots Abia between 1-4 slots And Rivers between 1-4 slots Etc.
So in this kind of recruitment, Ogun would have between 1-5 slots Kogi would have between 1-3 slots Abia would have between 2-8 slots Rivers would have between 7-16 slots
Ask ur questions or comments Is the state/zonal representation considered departmentally or by rank/cadre, by department + cadre (e.g GT of HR dept.) or the organization as a whole (no regard for which dept or cadre) Thanks |

Bluemalam: Good observations, though I strongly doubt a 40% average score stands a chance regardless of FCC guidelines.
Most likely they will take a higher scoring candidate from the zone that applied for a different cadre to fill the slot. True. 40% is just a random assumption |

Ablucious: Hello guys..sm vital info for you 1. COC is has definately been issued. 2.APLs are typed. 3. Many ppl have been able to confirm there status. 4.while the Director wants the APL distribution in July, the Head Corp Services wnts it to be in June. 5.katsina state has the highest number of employed staff with 28 followed by Borno state with 18. 6.I dnt know the state woth the least wmployed staff. If all is set, why would Director want to delay till July again? |

For instance, The number of slots to be filled for Geologist positions are 10 ( 7 GTs and 3 EH).
If at the end of the day, there are 20 candidates (GT and EH) to compete for the job after a thorough screening which I have explained before in my previous posts, then categorise them accordingly i.e From the 20 candidates, you will have 15 GTs and 5 EH.
Using their average scores, pick the best 7 from the 15 GTs and pick the best 3 from the 5 EH candidates.
There you have it, 7 GT Geologists and 3 EH Geologists.
Missing the interview means the candidate has been disqualified unless he/she has a strong backing. By this analysis, some state would be at disadvantage, which defiles the purpose of FCC. The rule is that, a designed formular is used to predetermine the number for each state/zone to be recruited. So for a particular cadre you are in competition with other candidate in your state/zone for the predetermined slot. So if they are to choose 6 candidates for a certain cadre. assuming a formular of one candidate per zone. A zone with a 40% best candidate would get a slot even though he may have a worse score than the second(or even third etc) of another zone. DPR may have recruited some (connected) guys based on REPLACEMENT to give room for merit in the main recruitment. I have seen this happen sometimes.
Laboratory Officer wasn't even advertised in the 2016 recruitment publications. |
