Yes there is a version manufactured by a Nigerian Engineer but not solar. It will power your laptop for 6 hours when there is no light. It costs N10k. The same engineer also manufactured a mobile phone charger which can keep charging up to 8 phones for 2 weeks when there is no light. You recharge this 8 point mobile phone charger once in two weeks. the cost is N5k Another version of the mobile phone charger can charge 3 phones for at least 30 days without recharging the mobile charger. You recharge it once in 30 days. I've been using this 3 point mobile phone charger for over a year and it works fine. The cost is N2.5k have you checked www.alibaba.com for the solar charger? |
We love the stories of the average person who hops on the net and makes $100,000 their first year. The problem is these stories and these individuals are the exception, not the rule. They end up reinforcing the "get r.ich quick" easy money mentality. A newbie starts marketing and after a week or two starts questioning why he isn't making a "boatload" of money yet. He's frustrated because he's made the exceptional, rare case his yardstick, instead of learning the truth about how much time and planning goes into building a business. He hasn't made a long term commitment to his future. It's time to start setting goals based on reality. So what is the truth? It takes the $100,000 a year earner around two to three years to reach their income levels. It took most of them six months or more to reach the goal of m.aking $1,000 a month. What do those statistics tell you? Most of the highest earners had committed to a two to three year game plan. They were willing to hang tight for six months or more before they reached their first $1,000 a month in profits. Are you prepared to do the same, or are you still expecting to m.ake $15,000 in your first 15 days? If you're not willing to make that type of commitment, you're better off going to the track or the casino. If you're not ready, willing and able to make a long term commitment to your future, save yourself the frustration of setting yourself up to fail. Ignoring the facts and burying your head in the sand, will keep you hopping from program to program. You'll never give any program the time necessary to show a real profit. It's in your hands. You can make a long term commitment to building your future, or you can stay frustrated and eventually stop trying. The choice is yours. So, guys do not believe any one who tells you that you can, as a starter, make $100 dollars in a day. They, fly-by-night teachers are not even making $1.00 a day. You have to learn first how the internet works and put into it concentrated effort before you can make any money. |
without a railway service, our dream of becoming one of the top 20 economies by 2020 will remain a dream on paper in 2020. |
@ebere1712 Please do not bring religion into this. That Sanusi may be a sponsor of Boko Haram as you stated above, is not the issue here. We are talking about CBN Governor's professional competence in the regulation of the banking industry Soludo was not competent. So far, Sanusi has demonstrated much better managerial competence. That Sanusi is a Northerner is also not an issue here. Sanusi has tried, salvaging the banking industry from the horrible mess Soludo plunged it into |
Soludo's banking recapitalisation was good strategy but it was shabbily implemented Even before Sanusi came in as CBN Boss, the N25Billion recapitalisation scheme was already failing. Before Sanusi came in, Sprink Bank was already in crisis arising from faulty implementation of the N25 Billion recapitalisation. Soludo's CBN failed woefully in the regulation of the banks. The Bank CEOs had full freedom to do as they liked with depositors funds in a corrupt country. Kudos to Sanusi who came in to clear the mess. Had it not been for his intervention, Banks like Afribank, PHB, Wema, Spring, Intercontinental,Union,Unity Bank would have been liquidated and the depositors, staffers as well as shareholders would have lost all, all together in terms of deposits, entitlements and investments respectively. You can imagine the impact that the simultaneous collapse of 10 big banks would be on the Nigerian economy which is a weak and struggling economy. However, what i am not happy with is the selective partial treatment applied by the CBN in the resuscitation process of the affected banks. For instance, Afribank's shareholders lost their shareholding outright while the same criteria was not applied to other distressed banks whose shareholders still have their shareholdings intact not eroded. That was not fair. Sanusi may have his faults as a Manager but he deserves encomiums for saving the banks from imminent collapse. By saving the banks, he saved the deposits of the vast majority, over 90% of bank customers whose individual deposits are less than N50,000.00. Soludo was a professor of economics, now we can see that his professorship was on paper. In real practice, his professorship failed. |
Good to hear that the Cup was won by a team who was believed would not go far in a competition dominated by veteran teams. The usual expectation was to see the emergence of old warriors like Egypt, Ghana, Cameroun, Ivory Coast and South Africa win all the time. All hail the new King of Football. May the crown last long on your head, O Zambia. Mali and Benin Republic, we are waiting. Wake up from your slumber and prove yourselves that you can snatch the Cup from the Giants as the Zambians have done |

Lie is sin. All liars shall have their part in the lake of fire(Revelations 21: ![]() Honesty is the best policy Fear God rather than fear mere man Fear God who can destroy both body and soul than man who can only kill the body OP if you have the fear of God, you will not tell a lie to cover up an evil Obeience is better than sacrifice If the guy loses his job, it is no fault of yours, but by his own irresponsibility His request to you to tell a lie against yourself to aid him confirms that he is irresponsible and has no fear of God in him. He should be able to pray to God to save his job. God is merciful and can save his job if he approaches Him in repentance and sobriety Tell him that you are unable and it is against your conscience and beliefs The heavens will not fall on your head if you stand up for the truth if you can stand up for the truth, God Himself will stand up for you as he did for Shedrach,Meschach and Abednego in Daniel Chapter 3 If you lie on his behalf, he will discard you like a piece of rag at the end and you will become a fool How can a reasonable, sensible person lie against himself and even commit such a sacrilege in writing? Op, do not listen to those who are encouraging you to tell lies against your conscience Remember that we shall all give account to God on the last day on an individual basis. Forgive him but do not lie. Let him know that you will pray and intercede on his behalf but will not lie. then do intercede for him and God will hear your prayer and save his job for him At the end of the day, through this experience he is facing,God can transform his life. Be a vessel unto honour for God,not for the Devil.Liars belong to the Devil |

Are you not too greedy? |
@idowuogbo With due respect to your person, i should say that you are rude and very childish. I do not think you are below 18. However, i have made my point. The 17 pages of debating on this issueis unnecessary. It happens only in Nigeria. Why is the N1m not yet contributed by all the people who have been debating on this issue if they really care about the emergency? Please learn to respect others opinions and desist from using foul language on forums on people you may not know. Regards. |
Why is this nation Nigeria so fond of embarrassing herself like this? No health facilities, no health insurance yet the budget is in trillions every year! Why is it that the OP has to cry out on a forum for a mere N1million for treatment when there are so many noise making, wealth flaunting rich men in Nigeria who can foot the bills? Rather than all the noise, debates and fights going on, on this issue on this forum, someone should take this campaign to the Press and the National Assembly to look for the money and find a permanent solution to this embarrassing state of affairs of our health care system. Talk to the billionaires Dangote, Okoya, Ibru, Dantata, Jimoh Ibrahim, Isiyaku Rabiu, Iwuanyanwu, Rochas Okocha,Babangida etc Talk to the churches :RCCG, MFM, DEEPERLIFE, THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH,HOUSEHOLD OF GOD,FOURSQUARE etc Talk to the numerous NGOs in Nigeria Talk to the Governors and the Minister for Health I am sure these people are not aware because they are too busy for things like Nairaland forum which the OP is using as a channel From the four groups above, the money she needs for treatment abroad will be ready in 24 hours. All this debating here for a peanut N1million is absolutely unnecessary! |
The profit on N10k worth of recharge cards is N400.00 To earn N1000.00 daily, you have to sell about N25k worth of recharge cards daily You have to create an effective marketing strategy to achieve this goal. See, there are many businesses that can yield a N1000.00 daily but the issue there is the marketability in view of the competition. |
@somorin Thanks sir. You are a blessing. It will be better to remain here where the grass is still green and try to make it greener here than to lose the green grass at home to pursue an imaginary greener grass abroad which may be a mirage at the end of the day. If at the age of 47, some Nigerians abroad are preparing to return home, obviously it will be a wrong move for one to commence a relocation abroad at 47 without the right and proper papers or visa that can guarantee an easier or faster resettlement. |
@princeonyx & Lasinoh, Thanks for your advice. I am now better informed about my intended relocation project. I see its better at this age to remain here and continue struggling here than getting stranded abroad. Going out at this age appears to be a desperate suicidal gamble and a huge risk. Actually, i have been advised against it by some but i did not understand them. One of them, a married sister of mine who has been in the UK for over a decade tells me that life is hard in the UK, that i would not be able to cope but she visits Nigeria frequently at will as if one is traveling from Lagos to Ibadan. Last year, she brought in a mind blowing Jeep and tells me that life is hard in the UK and i wonder how i can believe her. Sincerely, none of them gave the kind of details that i have received from you. I only hear that life is hard over there. I can now understand why a cousin who crossed over to the UK in 2000 is yet to visit home even once. He went on a visit visa and stayed back there. I learned that he has no papers and i wonder how come he has no papers in 12 years! Another, an in law has been in the US since 1999 and is yet to visit home even for once since then and has a family here but his wife visits him there every 2 years through the assistance of another Nigerian over there who invites her. Here, i have my own house and a farm and can still raise money legitimately to meet my obligations as a father and husband without that kind of stress and horror some stranded Nigerians are going through. Do fraudulent things abroad to make money? God forbid! I forbid! Anything that has to do with police and prison, i avoid with all my strength. I will focus on the US Diversity Visa as advised,if it works by God's grace at least for my daughter's future benefit. God bless you sirs, for your kindness to give sincere details. |
The fear of Boko Haram, |
To make money, find a problem to solve. |
@mrbrownjay Thanks for your concern. i really appreciate it. I have a family:a wife and a daughter. My wife is a civil servant and daughter in senior secondary school. They wont go with me. i have to leave them behind. I am a retiree of the banking industry and such credentials wont get me a job abroad. It is an illusion. So, I have to get something else to do to make a living over there. I dont mind doing anything as long as it is legitimate and lawful to do. If i go, i intend to stay some years and come back to Nigeria later. Am now thinking of relocation on the following basis: A relation who was a lecturer left Nigeria for the USA at age 56. Few years later, his wife and younger children joined him and have been there for about 14 years now. Another relation was aged 47 when he won the US Visa lottery around 1995 and moved over with his whole family and are there till now. I have tried all sorts of things to make a living but they are not working. The era that these utilized to relocate is quite different from the present era i am in now.To get to those countries now is much tougher. Where can i really go and which countries have some job prospects for a 47 year old? I count on your counsel. |
You mean i should leave Nigeria and go to Chad because it is visa free? Make i dey drink my garri for Nigeria. Chad ke? Wetin dey there? Nigeria better. What are the travel and job prospects in the following countries? Singapore, Cook Islands, Fiji, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Or are they another set of suffer head nations? |
I need advice. I am fed up with this nation. I wish to check out to seek greener pastures abroad. Where can i go at age 47 or does age not really matter? |
It is not a tribal issue. Do not bring tribal politics into this. The issue is that a Nigerian committed a crime. The Arik Air Hostess jailed 5 years in the UK in December in 2011 for carrying cocaine worth 250,000 pounds is not a Yoruba. She is Ibo. Her name is Miss Ogbonnaya. The problem for our backwardness in the comity of nations is that 50 years after independence, we still see ourselves as Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo. All Nigerian tribes are guilty of rubbishing the nation's name and image abroad. In the UK, a Nigerian who has lived there for years can contest and will be elected Mayor. Here in Nigeria, a Hausa cannot contest councillorship in Lagos State or Anambra State and win even if he was born there, schooled there, married an indigene of the state. Not possible. Backward, Primitive Nation Nigeria. |

Why do we over flog this issue of the types of lucrative businesses that can be done with a specific amount of money? Too many of such threads abound on this forum. There are no magic biz ideas anywhere! All businesses are lucrative. In any business, you’ll find people who have excelled in it and also many failures in the same line of business. Business is about providing solutions. It is about organizing resources (men, money and materials) to provide a solution. To make money, look for a problem or a need, get the solution and create a business to provide that solution. That is all. Either online or offline business, find problems to solve and you will make money. People pay for solutions. For example: Problem: People need light in many parts of Nigeria due to poor supply from the national grid Solution: Market alternatives such as solar products & candles. These products sell very well in different environments to different cadres of people. Problem: Many are too busy to clean their homes. House helps are difficult to come by. Solution: Set up a House cleaning business and provide the services they need or set up a recruitment agency to supply house helps to those who need them. Problem: There is a need for computer skills & online business training Solution: Set up a school and teach people computer literacy and online biz skills. Problem: Waste disposal is a huge problem because the government is failing in this area. Solution: Set up a waste disposal outfit. Problem: Many people need biz plans & don’t know how to write them. Solution: Set up a biz to write biz plans Problem : Authors need proofreaders to edit & proofread their works Solution : Set up a proofreading business Problem: The Fed. Govt. intends to place a ban on fertilizer importation. Solution: Produce animal manure as an alternative to fertilizer and sell to farmers. You look down on it as too menial or too low for a graduate? Isaac Durojaiye (CEO, DMT TOILETS) is a graduate who trained in the USA. He disposes human feces in Nigeria and is a multi millionaire from this biz in same Nigeria because he saw a problem in Nigeria and created a solution. Go into animal manure production and make money. Shit money does not smell. Many poultry farmers have a problem how to dispose their waste. Collect it for free and package it dried in bags for sale. How you go about it is the business acumen which many of us lack. Find a way to do it is about creativity. To make money: Think, scan the environment. Find a problem, look for a solution, create a biz to provide the solution, you make money. |

If a community lacks water and the residents need water, it is a problem needing a solution. The solution will make money for the solution provider because people pay for solutions that make life easier for them. An entrepreneur does not run away from problems but fashions a way out. An entrepreneur adds value and he innovates. To solve the water problem, the solution could be to sink a borehole in the area and sell water to the residents at affordable rates It could be sending water tankers to the area to provide water at affordable rates. Do not just write off a problem as unsolvable. Remove the word 'impossible' from your mind. Your mind can work out a solution to any problem. |
What do you call zero capital in this? |
Making money from blogging takes about 8 months of consistent hard work and attention. While working on a blog to make you money, have an offline business alongside. Internet business is real but will not yield money overnight. |
Pros and cons: Based on an investigation i did in 2008 which may be stale by now, There are locally fabricated machines as well as imported machines Austin Laz limited, Powercool limited and Merchantile limited are among the importers. The imported machines work for 6-8 hours to freeze. The local works for up to 12 hours to freeze You need 15 kva diesel generators that consume 2 liters per hour to power some of the machines depending on their capacities In the present day 2012, diesel is N160 per liter so you need N2560 per cycle/day on diesel if using the imported brand machine that requires a 15KVA. Some imported machines can do 50,60,80,100 blocks How much will the blocks be sold to cover the cost of power? Before you start, check your environment and do a market survey. Find out the types/sizes of ice blocks that the market wants, not what you think they want. What the market wants will determine the type of machine that you will buy. Find out if there is a need for ice blocks in your location. Do not just assume that there is a need everywhere. Some have burnt their fingers badly believing that there is a need for ice blocks everywhere. Ice block is a seasonal business. During the rains, demand falls drastically. You can make consistent good sales not more than 6-8 months in the year. Depending on the environment you are doing it, you can make everyday sales. In some places, only weekend sales. In some machines, if the block is removed from the machine and not quickly sold or when the machine is switched off, the block will defrost back to water within 2-3 hours. So you must have a market ready. You should have a means to transport the blocks to some customers who will expect you to bring it to them. Find out if spare parts are ready and available on demand. The risk is there as in any other business. This business has created many millionaires. However do a market survey before you venture into it. |
