Though i fully agree with the biblical instructtion that a woman submit to her husband, i am not comfortable that a woman willing to work should not work and become a liability and a jobless in the name of submission in this age.
Suppossing the unexpected happens like death or job loss, God forbid anyway, would it mean that the family would be stranded?
Does it mean that a wife in this age would be waiting for a man to give her N10 to buy a box of matches?
Some men are parochial, afraid of a working wife and prefer a jobless wife whom they can control and oppress.
The loving man today may change few years down the road,throw the woman out. What will the woman do having no means of hers?
If he does not want a paid employment, you can do self employment around the home which gives you better and flexible control of your time to take care of the baby. Its not wise these days that a woman just sit idle even if she is a billionaire's wife.
There are hundreds of home businesses a woman can do online and offline and be as busy as another in paid employment.
This is a man and wife issue and the solution that worked for Mr & Mrs AA may not apply to Mr & Mrs BB in order not to break a home.
it is now an issue of you choosing your home or your career. Issues as this have broken many homes,so you have to be careful how you respond and the advice you adopt. its somehow complex matter delving into husband and wife issues but that is how i can contribute.

1 Corinthians 6:9 talks about a people who are 'abusers of themselves with mankind' among other sins listed in the verse

Two years ago, one Grandpa aged 70 married a wife aged less than 40 and had a baby just beause he wanted to prove to his 1st wife that he was still a man. His wife ''insulted'' him that he was not virile and he went to prove his virility. The youngest of 6 children from the 1st wife is about 25 years old. See what inordinate ambition & ego led a man to. He died few months ago at 72 leaving behind the little girl barely 2 years old as a liability unto others.

I think its a good idea.
If there are many private universities, due to competition, the tuition will likely become cheaper and more students can get in.
The FGN is unable to cater for the burden of the Government owned universities and this could be the reason for continuous approval of private universities. The issue however is that the fees charged by private universities is too high for many students to pay but good education is obtainable there.

What went wrong with your 1st choice? Or could it be that other things were wrong with your application?
Your 2nd choice option placed you at a disadvantage because there are too many qualified candidates who chose the school as 1st choice who are yet to be absorbed. Then,how will they consider someone who chose the school as 2nd choice?
Another is that even if you score 300,there is no assurance that you get admission in some schools unless you can do greasing.
Even if you chose the school as 1st choice, with your 251, you may have to ''grease'' before you get admission.
There are too many sudents applying for admissions and Nigeria's over 200 universities, polytechnics,colleges of education and many other tertiary institutions are too few to absorb them. Where a corrupt system is in place, what do you expect?
Do not be bitter. Now,you are wiser. keep trying and someday,you will get in even without greasing. Life is a struggle.

I cannot even think of it, on religious grounds to marry another woman, in the name of searching for a male child to carry on my name. For me, Wife No 2 is an impossible project male son or no male son.

Where it turns out that a man is unable to have a male child, should he go hang himself? Is it not for this reason that many men have been pressured into multiple marriages and a battallion of children beyond their pockets to train? Is it not for this same reason that some wives have been sacked from their matrimonial homes? Is it not for this reason that the African mother-in-law is a dreaded figure,deriving her powers from such obnoxious traditional and cultural beliefs which she uses to trouble her daughters-in-law?
In Africa, we see females as vanity projects and it is for this reason that females are seen but not to be heard. In many societies, females are regarded as slaves, sex objects to satisfy men's intimate urges and as items of purchase to be oppressed and humiliated at will.
As a man, you do not want your name to die then a male son becomes a must-have project. African solutions are : Sack wife 1 and marry wife 2 i.e. foray into polygamy even against your wishes because you want to be seen as a man or satisfy societal expectations. Solution 2: Seek the Devil's agents for solution to produce a male child and in the process derail your eternal destiny and peace. Who produces babies? God. The formation of babies in the womb is a mystery.
These issues of the world including the male child syndrome are temporal issues and vanity in itself. Without a male child, you can have a happy and satisfying marriage and life. One should be focussing on eternity and eternal things than preoccupy himself with mundane projects such as 'i must have a son' and in the process derail his destiny through pressured, bogus solutions.
Thats my view anyway.

For us in Nigeria, go to the Police to get a certification that the car is not on their wanted or stolen  list.
its advised to take this Police step in addition to others. If you fail to go to the Police and the car is stolen,then the same Police you neglect will make you see the wisdom of having gone to the Police first for clearance.

Some years ago, a popular registered dealer sold a stolen car to someone, which was traced to Nigeria by Interpol and was recovered from the buyer.

If the man has love for his children and wants to see them move ahead in case of his sudden death, he should create financial assets such as fixed deposits, education and life insurance policies with the wife and children as beneficiaries. No relative can grab these assets from them. This in addition to having houses. Bequeating a legacy of education to one's kids should come ahead of things such as houses. Its good to have a house anyway. everyone on Earth strives to have one in his lifetime.

Joint ownership of property such as houses do not work in Africa because the black man can be treacherous in marriage and the legal system in Africa is unlike in Europe and America where the wife is better protected over her husband on marital issues. An African husband who has joint account of property with his wife can go have secret wife outside his home to the awareness of his relations. Then later, in the name of tradition which is still a force to reckon with in Africa, the man and his relations will move against the wife at home and throw her out. The law is often helpless to do anything for her even if she was married under the Marriage Act.
The woman can strive to have her own assets in her own name too with her children as beneficiaries in case their father's relations take over their father's properties

This matter is somehow complex. In iboland,the cultural system is complex where a man dies and his relations seize his properties from his wife and children.
If the man makes a Will in favor of his wife and daughters, can traditional practices overrule the Will?
That is the issue i think we should consider. i am not a lawyer anyway.
Is the man's marriage with the woman a marriage under the Act or a customary marriage?
If it is a marriage under the Act and the man makes a will in favor of his wife and the kids, is it possible for the man's relations to hijack the properties in the name of an obnoxious cultural practice?
I suggest that:
The woman should have her own seperate properties in her own name with her girls as beneficiaries to her estate.
If i am the man, i would make a Will in the name of the wife and daughters as beneficiaries or put in their names in the ownership of the property as joint owners. I would appoint trustees eg First Trustees to take care of the estate till my girls are of age say about 25 to take full control of it.
Then any thieving relative will first have to contend with the Trustees in charge of the property on behalf of my wife & kids
Or The man should register the property in the name of a Limited Liability Company owned by him,the wife and children as shareholders but with the wife and daughters having majority shareholding about 80% collectively.This would beat any thieving relative hands down.
Lastly,the man should create financial assets such as Education and Life Assurance favoring his wife and kids as beneficiaries so that their education will be secured even if his relatives succeed in grabbing things such as houses.

The couple should seek marital counselling advice in church.
Marital Counselling is the solution to their problem.
The advice they need cannot be found on nairaland.
Coming to nairaland to seek counsel was a wrong step.

If your wife now speaks in tongues, there is no cause for alarm.
Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit and not easy to come by anyway.
You should be delighted about it.That is not an issue to cause marital discord in your home.
Does your Baptist Church not believe in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit?
This is one of the true doctrines and pillars of the true Xtian faith
Do not be seen as fighting against it cos you may incur the wrath of God.
The marriage must not be broken on this note,take note.
Read the bible, study it,search its doctrines and beliefs.
Many Xtians carry the Bible about but do not know what it contains.
The issue is whether you are accepting God's word in its entirety or not.
It must be total,100% acceptance of the word of God. Not 99%.
A true follower and believer will not express discontent about the presence of the Holy Spirit.
If you are not at ease with the speaking in tongues, then you need to check your Xtian life all over. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Personal Saviour? If you have and you are still in the Lord,then you should desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit too.
On the issue of sex that you say you or she is not interested in since the tongues started, you need marital counselling in a Bible believing and Bible practising church.

The Gifts of the Spirit are for edification and end here on Earth.
The Fruits of the Spirit is what qualifies one for Heaven i.e your character

My advise to the Anglican Lady who created this thread is as follows:

Read the Bible to understand its doctrines as directed in John 5:39 and Joshua 1:8
You should know what the doctrines of your church denomination are, whether they align with the doctrines of the Bible.
If they align,then all is well. If they do not,then something is seriously wrong.
I want you to appreciate your man's concerns.He is going to be the head of the home and if anything goes wrong in the marriage,God will hold him to account even though not his fault. 2ndly, it is his duty to find a wife and a lot goes into ensuring that the marriage is set up on the right foundation. 3rdly, it is the man who will cleave unto his wife and he has to cleave tightly and properly. If the foundation of the marriage is faulty or defective from the onset,cleaving can not occur.
There are so called Xtian sects which profess to be Xtians but are clearly occultic sects. Some are pseudo Xtian sects.
For a true believer who knows the true word of God and who is committed to the true word of God to now go into marriage with one who belongs to a pseudo Xtian or Occultic sect, is to breach 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 and to set up his marriage on a wrong foundation.

Many marriages are crashing worldwide.Divorce statistics are staggering because men and women are setting up marriages based on earthly philosophies and neglecting the word of God concerning marriage.God is the origin of marriage and the bible is the divine manual guiding the operations of the marital union. In the life of a Xtian, marriage is a very serious issue that should not be toyed with. The type of choices that a person makes in his/her marriage can determine or affect one's eternal destination. Marriage is much more than having sex and rearing kids!

Preaching church is not the issue.There is no church or denomination in heaven and no one will gain entrance into heaven on the basis of what church he belongs to on Earth. The real issue is whether you have accepted Jesus Christ as the Way,the Truth and the Life in your own life(John 14:6)(Acts 4:12).And if you have submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ,then you must also submit to the true doctrines of the Bible that form the basis of the true Xtian faith(John 5:39)

  I respect your opinion. The issue is not denomination but doctrine. There are no denominations in Heaven. But there is one doctrine on which the salvation of man is based upon. The issue is whether a denomination is conforming to the Bible doctrine. Our salvation cannot be found outside Bible doctrines.  Whether denominations really matter in a relationship is the subject of this thread. My opinion is that it matters much if the doctrines adopted in a Xtian denomination do not align with the doctrines of the Bible.

  Many of the doctrines of Romanism have no biblical backing and one of them is the doctrine about a place called Purgatory. there are at about 30 doctrines of Romanism that are at total variance with the true doctrines of the Xtian faith. I will state 3 of them here for information
1) The Roman Catholics believe that there is a Purgatory after death. that the souls detained in Purgatory are helped by the suffrages of the faithful.That the souls that go to purgatory are those that depart this life with venial sin or those that have not fully paid he debt of temporal punishment due to those sins of which the guilt has been forgiven (The Catechism,q 107)(Creed of Pope Pius IV.)(The Catechism Canon Cafferata)

Refuttal:
The Bible affirms that there is no Purgatory but only one mode of expiation,by the Blood of Jesus Christ.The Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin(1 John 1:7)(John 1:29)(Acts 4:12). Nowhere in the whole Bible is there a mention of a place known as Purgatory.
If the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from ALL sins, how much sins then remains for Purgatory to cleanse one from?

2)Romanism believes that it is their duty to pray for the dead where it is said to be a ''holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they may be loosed from their sins.'' This doctrine is stated in the Creed of Pope Pius and supported by the Apocryphal Book called the second book of Maccabees 12:42-43 and The Catechism Canon Cafferata.

Refuttal:
The Bible teaches that after death is judgment (Hebrews 9:27).There is no instance in Bible Scriptures of any one praying for the dead. The Bible teaches that there is no forgiveness of sins or repentance or any second chance after death.

3) Romanism believes that some sins are venial sins that do not deserve the wrath of God.That venial sins are those which do not cause spiritual death to the soul and that examples of venial sins are stealing and lying(Dens Theologia & De Pecattis No.154)

Refuttal:
The Bible teaches that the wages of sin is death(Romans 6:23),that the soul that sins shall die(Ezekiel 18:20),that ALL liars shall have their part in the Lake of Fire(Revelations 21:, that whosoever keeps the whole law and offends in one point is guilty of all(James 2:10).

From the point of doctrine, some xtian sects and denominations are at variance with the true doctrines of the Bible and for the purposes of this thread, doctrinal differences that are not in conformity with the true doctrines of the Bible can mar a marriage. Marriage is a divine institution set up by God and the Bible is the instructional manual guiding the affairs of marriage.If one of the parties in the marriage is submitting to a strange set of doctrines, does it not indicate a faulty foundation from the onset? The marriage that will work and that will stand must be built on a solid foundation(Matthew 7:24-27) based on the Word of God, not diluted or polluted.
Amos 3:3 asks '' Can two walk together except they agree?'' Marriage is an agreement.
How can a marriage work when the parties are submitting to different sets of doctrines and are not agreeing on one? Marriage is about unity and cleavage. Cleavage cannot take place where the couple subscribe to different doctrines in marriage. where the couple cannot cleave as Scripture demands in Genesis 2:24 & Psalms 45:10, the marriage is headed for the rocks and this is the problem we have today in many homes across the world.The failure to abide by Bible principles concerning marriage is the major reason why divorce statistics are soaring worldwide.

The Jehovah Witnesses deny the Deity of Jesus Christ,saying that Jesus is same as Archangel Michael and therefore a created being and not God.
The Bible Refuttal is in Micah 5:2,John 1:1,Phillipians 2:5-7

The Jehovah Witnesses also deny the personality of the Holy Spirit, that the Holy Spirit is not God in their own Bible but only an active force of God.

They also claim that there is no place known as a Hell for the eternal punishment of the wicked, that the soul of man is mortal
The Bible refutes this strange doctrine in  Matthew 25:46, Revelations 20:10-15

They also deny the Trinity of God
The Bible establishes the Trinity in 1 John 5:7
There are many other variances. In fact, in the Jehovah Witness Bible(their own Bible), their statement in 1 John 5:7 is totally different from 1 John 5:7 in the Christian Bible. In Revelations 22:18-19,God places a curse on anyone who removes from, or adds to the Bible in order to distort its messages.

The above are undeniable facts.
It is a spiritual accident for a true believer in the true doctrines of the Bible to go into marriage with a Catholic or Jehovah Witness or Seventh Day Adventist on the basis of 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.
However, God condemns no one who is still living. The main issue is: Repent now and be Converted to Jesus, The Way,the Truth and the Life.

I respect your opinion but i am not just making noise as you said above.
The secondary school i went to was founded by the Roman Catholic Church and the school has a Catholic Church.I have not stated which church i belong to. It is not a church issue and i am not promoting one church over another.
I am also not a saint or a holier-than-thou person. I am a sinner like every other man on Earth. Our salvation is by grace not by works.
Jesus said that not everyone who calls him 'Lord,Lord' that will enter into His Kingdom but they that do the will of His Father.
That one is a Pentecostal is no guarantee to make Heaven but he who does the will of the Father.
Information is power, that is why we are on this forum to share and to learn. If you have views that oppose what i have,present them for all to learn. It is not that one is running down other Xtian sects but stating undeniable facts for informational purposes.
Anyone can decide to marry anyone from any denomination or doctrine or tribe. Marriage is a personal choice. Love is also a choice but what i advocate is that love is a choice based on information. love is not blind and can only be blind to those who can not see. Christianity is a personal choice too and an individual race. we shall give individual accounts before Christ(2 Corinth 5;10) and shall be judged by His Word, undiluted. The Bible is not a secret document.It is open for all to read and search its beliefs.

  I do not think that it is right to advise the Baptist husband to quit the marriage. Marriage is sacred and must not be broken.For instance,if after marriage you came to discover that your wife is a witch,would you on that account pack it up? If he seperates from her, he must not enter into any other relationship as long as the wife is living. Marital Counselling is the solution for the Baptist Husband

I am talking fact and i stand to be corrected. My opinion and statements on this are well grounded. I do not create unnecessary controversies.I am a student of Comparative Religion and understand the doctrinal differences of many Xtian sects and denominations and how some deviate from standard Bible doctrines. In view of serious doctrinal differences at variances with Bible doctrines, it is akin to marital suicide for a true Xtian believer to marry a Catholic or a Jehovah Witness.

Talking about marriage, i say and i mean it that love is not blind.
You have to discover certain things about your spouse and decide whether you can live with them for the rest of your life.

Once you enter into it, no coming out because it is an everlasting bond that must not be broken.
If you have discovered something about the spouse and you know that you cannot live with it, please stay away.
Go ahead blindly, you will regret it later when your eyes open when it is too late.
Yes, Jesus did not create denominations but one message and one doctrine of salvation for Man.
Denominations emerged later and some denominations came with their own doctrines at variance with the Bible's doctrine.
There are cardinal christian doctrines which form the basis of the true Xtian faith which the Pentecostals subscribe to. Some xtian sects such as the Jehovah Witness and the Catholics operate doctrines which are in breach of the cardinal principles. It will be an error for instance where a Pentecostal marries a Jehovah Witness who does not believe in the existence of the Trinity, Holy Spirit, Heaven,Hell,Resurrection and others. Spiritual bonding matters a lot and must not be neglected on the altar of love.

Denominational crisis based on doctrinal differences can ruin a marriage. it is a serious matter.
The Pentecostals are better off marrying their fellow Pentecostals and the Catholics are better off marrying Catholics for peace sake.
There is likely to be strong marital crisis where a Pentecostal marries a Catholic or a Jehovah Witness.The marriage will not work because there are strong doctrinal differences. There is what is called spiritual intimacy in marriage which has been overlooked by many couples venturing into marriage. If the spiritual intimacy or bond is lacking,the marriage is headed for the rocks.
The Pentecostals believe very strongly in the existence of a Heaven and a Hell as well as the Resurrection among many others.The Catholics and Jehovah Witness do not believe in many of the cardinal principles of Christianity or have distorted views about them. How will the marriage of a Pentecostal man and a Jehovah Witness lady work especially where they continue to belong to their different doctrines after the wedding day?The man will not be able to cleave unto his wife where they are not spiritually intimate and that is the foundation of future discord.
A true Xtian and true believer in the true word of God who marries a Catholic or Jehovah Witness is clearly in breach of 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

If the man had stopped for security check at the designated point, would the soldiers have shot? It is highly unlikely because the soldiers exercise greater restraint in the use of firearms than the police. It is the police that has been known to be reckless in the use of firearms. The bombers do not carry labels on their foreheads identifying them as BH.So how could the soldiers have known that the man was not a BH though his vehicle bore a Government Plate number when in Nigeria,criminals have been using government plate numbers to commit crime?
