Save us from Police Harrasment and Intimidation
It is very much important to aware this reputable organisation on issues as it affect the rights of the citizens of Nigeria. We always appreciate the sincerity of NHRC when it comes to standing for the society and citizens when our righs are abused by forces and groups.

On that we have come together to put forward as thus:
1, On the 24th of Febuary 2017, Some set of police men led by one Alfa from Moore Divisional police entered Modomo community and started seizing phones and wallets from the people in the community.

2, On the same day, I Comrade Ogundele Ayo challenged the police on the reason behind phone and wallet seizing. In the cause of our arguement which they were made to understand the fact that: They dont have any right to personal belongings of innocent citizens but failure to give concrete reasons led to sporadic shootings which led to various injuries sustained fron safety covered.

3. The police made away with phone which was later asked to be bailed.

4. The police under the instruction of the Area Commander and DPO have unleashed terror on the citizens by detaining people illegally, Teargassing and also using life bullets on people of Ile-ife.

5, The Area Commander and DPO of Moore police station ile ife must be called to order so as not to record a state of Anarchy in the cause if police resistance.
Thanks

CrimeUNILAG Student Are Not Criminals by ayodelej(op): 5:36pm On Apr 03, 2017

OSUN STATE. 08081243807, 07032716438.
PRESS STATEMENT
UNILAG ACTIVISTS ARE NEVER CRIMINALS; RELEASE THEM NOW!
*INJUSTICE SOMEWHERE IS A THREAT TO JUSTICE EVERYWHERE...
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos has over-grown it’s tyrannical feathers and has the audacity to further attack students of the University that he has unjustly and irrationally rusticated for at least four semesters because the students cannot conjure how the University is been governed by the ‘Abacha-like’ Rahmon Bello leadership and began to ask questions. The latest attack which is condemnable involves students who were on campus just to distribute leaflets to sensitise their fellow student and also have a discussion with the University Division of Student’s Affairs (DSA).
But the University management been uncivil and hostile as they are, connived with Nigeria Police of the Sabo Division to arrest and brutalise armless students that are on campus to give update to their colleagues. This is the height of insanity on the part of the University management even as students from different campuses joined students from the University to demand the reinstatement of the rusticated students because this has been the genesis of the crises that has rock the University of Lagos. Eleven students were rusticated immediately after a three-days consecutive protest over the poor welfare conditions on the campus, the Students’ Union has been banned ever since then and just some days ago, two students were suspended all because of this same protest after almost a year (April 6, 2016).
The University management that cannot provide good and adequate, qualitative academic infrastructures, good hostel facilities should be probe and made to face justice
. Also, University management that cannot resolve crises by tackling issues from the root-cause is irresponsible and inhuman, we will advice the probe of the qualification of the Professorship he has ascertain because a Professor is an academician that is able to proffer way-forward and solutions to any imbroglio around him and his environment not to talk of his work (job). Any administrator that chooses to toe the foot-path of been high-handed has so many things in his skeleton that he is hiding. There is no justification for you to be avoiding the court of public opinion if you have judiciously spend the public funds in your coffers but instead the University of Lagos management is using brute state force against the genuine demands of the student of the University of Lagos.
We in the Socialist Youth League (SYL) condemn in totality the unjust and irrational rustication of the Unilag13. We also condemn and demand for the immediate release of Femi Adeyeye and the UNILAG 13 activists unjustly arrested and illegally prosecuted and detained by a so-called “mobile court at Oshodi.”
We call on all Civil Society Organisations and radical parties such as UAD, JAF, NCP, NAP etc. to intervene in this inhuman assault. Also, this is a wakeup call to all academic and non-academic staff of the institution to share solidarity and take practical steps to make sure these students are not been successfully victimised. Vicious examples overtime has shown that after the University management deals with the students, they would then pounce on the staff unions also!
So, we urge unions on campus such as ASUU, NASU, SSANU, and NAAT to unite and take up the UNILAG management on these unjust actions against democracy, and share solidarity with the students.
Our demands are immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the student rusticated, immediate release of the students in the Kirikiri Maximum Prison, the immediate unban of the University of Lagos Students’ Union, all anti-student policies should be discarded, probed and prosecution of the University of Lagos Vice-Chancellor (Rahmon Bello) and the democratization of the decision making organ of the institution to include elected representative of the students and staff of the University.
AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO AL!

PoliticsPolice Tortured Blind UNILAG Student by ayodelej(op): 11:46pm On Apr 02, 2017
Lawrence Success, the recently rusticated visually-impaired University of Lagos (UNILAG) student, was taken away from 13 other student activists remanded on the orders of a mobile court in Lagos over the weekend and tortured by the Police.
While his colleagues were moved from Adekunle Police Station, otherwise known as Panti, for arraignment before a mobile court in the Oshodi area of Lagos, Success said he was taken back to Adekunle Police Station, where policemen said he was separated from other activists because they felt pity for him.
He, however, told the policemen that he did not need their pity. His rejection of pity, however, angered the policemen who, he said, started slapping him before adopting other forms of torture and taking him to the cell.
"After beating me mercilessly, they took me into the cell and asked inmates to torture me," he said.
The inmates obliged, but quickly realized he was blind. "They apologized to me, and I have been in that cell since Friday," he explained.
The students were arrested on Friday on their way back from the UNILAG campus, where they had sought an explanation from the Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Ademola Adeleke, over the university's decision to rusticate Success. Instead of offering an explanation, Mr.Adeleke called the Police to arrest and detain them.
Fourteen of them were arrested, including Adeyeye Olorunfemi, who was rusticated for questioning, in a Facebook post, the competence of the UNILAG Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, on account of poor handling of campus affairs. They were subsequently arraigned before a mobile court, which ordered them remanded.
Success was released on Sunday afternoon from Adekunle Police Station, where he had been tortured and asked to report back to report on Monday.

the report of the Nigerian police is full of folktales. they never arrested the Hausas who started the killings and stones throwing. How many people did they arrest during Shagamu, Mile 12, ketu and Nothern crisis? they never made any arrest because the Hausa and Fulani's had a upper hand. the basic truth is that : Hausas are given licence to violence with ways the crisis is being handled.

UAD CONDEMNS PLANNED ATTACKS ON FEB 6TH NATIONWIDE PROTESTS
“Those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent change inevitable!”- John. F.Kennedy.
We have been monitoring the harsh response of especially the Nigeria Police that the February 6th nationwide protests led by Enough is Enough (EiE) and the 2face Foundation will be stopped, and we want to say that we understand the intention therein. The Nigerian police is hell bent in killing all voices of dissent and demonising all truthful and genuine disagreements to the government’s anti-poor policies.
We in UAD posit that the Nigerian Police Force has no right whatsoever to stop the peaceful assembly of any group or people. Do the police prefer violent protests to this planned peaceful one? The Right to protest is a fundamental human right!
We clearly understand, from recent actions of the Nigerian Police and Military, that fundamental human rights are wilfully disrespected and abused people’s lives; properties; and freedom treated inhumanly. The shootings and killings of Biafran agitators in Portharcourt on January 20; the killings at AAU; Ekpoma in Edo state; and the unprovoked massacre of Shiites, show the barbaric character of the police and military, and are still freshest in our memory!
We then want to let CP Fatai Owoseni to publish the names of “hoodlums” that are planning to hijack the protests. Otherwise, the public should note that the said hoodlums are going to be sponsored by the police and the state agents themselves!
. We therefore want to tell Fatai Owoseni and others in the Nigeria Police to get civilised and stop using lethal weapons in protests. No live ammunition should be used by the police. And they must conduct themselves in the most serene manner as it’s done in saner climes. Afterall, President Buhari and other stalwarts of APC had to lead mass protests enroute the 2015 General elections. Or are some boot-lickers not also planning to stand with Buhari? We call on all progress-seeking Nigerians to come out enmasse on Monday, stab work and leisure, and join this protest for our future. This is one of the very rare times in our lives that we can show that ANOTHER NIGERIA IS VERY POSSIBLE!

GABRIEL Ojumah, KUNLE Wizeman Ajayi,
Convener. General Secretary.
