Your response is quite personal, and we know your calibre and level of understanding. If truly you can read and write, then assimilating a simple write-up should not be difficult. Issues like this require maturity, careful understanding, and objective reasoning rather than unnecessary emotions or sentiments. We believe you should focus more on the message being passed across instead of trying to create confusion around a very clear and straightforward write-up. Lithiumite: |
“He who comes to equity must come with clean hands.” The judgement currently being carried around and celebrated by Alhaji Monsuru Agbabiaka and his associates appears to many members as nothing more than a desperate attempt to destabilize the peace and stability presently enjoyed in Lagos State. While nobody is disputing the authority and importance of a judgement delivered by a competent court of jurisdiction, the major concern lies with the individuals handling and promoting the judgement, especially considering their records and conduct during the last administration. The question many members continue to ask is simple: are these individuals truly worthy of holding and controlling the affairs of TOOAN once again? For many operators and members who experienced the last administration under Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, the answer remains a clear No. It is no longer news that several allegations of corruption, exploitation, intimidation, and financial recklessness were linked to individuals who occupied strategic positions during that administration. Members who worked tirelessly day and night could hardly point to any meaningful improvement in their welfare, despite the enormous revenues generated across different zones and branches. Instead of protecting the interests of members, many leaders allegedly became more interested in personal enrichment and political loyalty. It is therefore shocking to now see some of these same individuals presenting themselves as defenders of justice and champions of members’ interests. Mr. Alagba, for instance, openly pledged allegiance to Lagos State Parks and Garages against the earlier position of the national body of NURTW, which had moved towards making TOOAN an independent union under the leadership of Alhaji ISTIJABA. This sudden change of direction naturally raises questions about sincerity, consistency, and hidden interests. https://encounternewscom./2026/05/13/the-battle-for-tooan-between-genuine-liberation-and-self-interest/ https://encounternewscom./2026/05/13/the-battle-for-tooan-between-genuine-liberation-and-self-interest/ |

This sudden change of direction naturally raises questions about sincerity, consistency, and hidden interests. Members must not forget the years of hardship, intimidation, and suffering allegedly experienced under the previous administration. The same people who allegedly frustrated and impoverished members for nearly four years are now moving around with a judgement as though they suddenly care about the future of TOOAN. Members of TOOAN must remain vigilant, united, and focused. The future of the union should not be entrusted to individuals whose past actions allegedly brought pain, division, and exploitation upon members. TOOAN deserves leadership built on transparency, accountability, peace, justice, and genuine concern for the welfare and progress of all members. https://encounternewscom./2026/05/13/the-battle-for-tooan-between-genuine-liberation-and-self-interest/ |
Aggrieved members of the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN), under the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), have declared Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as a day of peaceful resistance—a moment of reckoning for a union many say has been pushed to the edge by years of mismanagement and unchecked power. What began as internal disputes has grown into a deep-rooted crisis. Members insist that the problems did not emerge overnight but were cultivated during the tenure of past leaders, including Mr. Kamoli Bakare and Mr. Agbabiaka Monsuru, who served as zonal chairmen of Zones A and B in Lagos under the leadership era of Mr. MC Oluomo. According to those affected, decisions made during that period entrenched inequality, weakened accountability, and created a system that no longer serves its members. The consequences have been devastating. Thousands of operators reportedly lost their livelihoods, while many who remained were forced into survival within a structure they describe as exploitative. As pressure mounted, the union slipped into a caretaker state, further deepening instability and uncertainty. Across Lagos State, the ripple effects are visible in rising transportation costs, placing an additional burden on ordinary citizens who depend on the system daily. For the aggrieved members, this protest is more than a demonstration—it is a declaration. It is a refusal to accept a system that, in their view, rewards a few while sacrificing the many. It is a call to confront a legacy of leadership that they believe must be scrutinized, including the roles played by Mr. Kamoli Bakare and Mr. Agbabiaka Monsuru in shaping the current state of affairs. The protesters are demanding accountability, transparency, and a complete overhaul of the structures that have allowed these challenges to persist. They are calling on relevant authorities, including anti-corruption agencies, to carry out a thorough investigation into the affairs of TOOAN during the periods in question and to ensure that justice is not selective but comprehensive. Despite the intensity of their grievances, the movement remains committed to peace. Yet, it is a peace driven by determination, not silence. It is a unity forged in hardship and sustained by the belief that change is both necessary and possible. On April 28, the message will be clear and unwavering: no more exploitation, no more impunity, and no more systems that fail the very people they are meant to serve. https://encounternewscom./2026/04/26/judgment-of-extortion-by-economics-killers-in-lagos-tooan/

_ *Federal Workers Forum Expresses Gratitude and Calls for Continued Support for a better workers and citizens condition.*_ The Federal Workers Forum would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the members of the public, particularly Barrister Femi Falana(SAN), Barrister Femi Aborishade, Barrister Akinola, and others from Abope Chamber for their unwavering support and legal assistance. We also acknowledge the tireless efforts of all members of civil society, our fellow workers, and citizens of Nigeria who have rallied for the release of Comrade Andrew Emelieze, the National Coordinator of the Federal Workers Forum, from the detention of the Department of State Security Service. While we celebrate Comrade Emelieze’s release, we recognize that our struggle is far from over. The oppression and repression faced by workers will not deter us from demanding our legitimate wages, awards, and arrears. The needs and rights of workers must be prioritized by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The current minimum wage is poor andinsufficient to support families, especially as citizens grapple with skyrocketing living costs across the nation. We call on the government to urgently address these economic challenges and consider the demands of workers in order to foster a more equitable and just society. Together, we will continue to stand firm in our quest for justice, fair compensation, and a better future for all workers in Nigeria. Aluta Continua! Victoria ascerta!! Comrade Andrew Emelieze (National Coordinator) Comrade Itoro Obong (National Secretary) Comrade Ogundele Ayo (General Secretary) |

Federal Workers forum Press statement Comrade Andrew Emelieze Regains Freedom: The Struggle Continues After enduring numerous political and legal battles with the Tinubu-led administration, the National Coordinator of the Federal Workers Forum, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, has finally regained his freedom from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). His release marks a significant moment in the ongoing struggle against the anti-worker policies of the current regime. This is not the end—it is just the beginning. Nigerian workers must be paid their wages, arrears, and salaries promptly. The Federal Workers Forum's six-point demand must be fully implemented by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We say: Enough is enough—enough of workers’ victimization, unlawful detention, and modernized slavery. We extend our profound gratitude to the legal luminaries, particularly Barrister Femi Aborishade and Y.A. Akinola of Abope Chambers, for their unwavering legal support throughout this ordeal. Our appreciation also goes to the civil society organizations and media houses who amplified our voice, and to all steadfast members of the Federal Workers Forum who, despite intimidation by the DSS and other state security apparatus, stood firm and unshaken. Once again, we warmly welcome our National Coordinator from this politically motivated sabbatical. The battle for workers’ rights continues, and victory is certain. Solidarity forever! |
