Hey guys. I am here again o.
My visa was approved June 6. I have not got any mail to come for my passport. Is this normal? I was not placed on administrative processing o. My visa status has been on 'Issued' since June 7 with comment that it's in final processing....
Anyone with a similar case.

I was offered assistantship which entitle me to a full tuition waiver and monthly stipend. So the total assistantship amount quoted on the I-20 is in excess of the amount required for my study for a year

I just don't know if there is anything to learn from it. Quite short.
After all the screenings at various points, I was directed to Window 3.... Here is the transcript:

V.O: Pass me ur passport and I-20.
Me: (Did that while greeting her). Good morning.
V.O: Where are you going?
Me: I am going to the University of Kansas for a PhD in Biochemistry.
V.O: Ooh, you want to be a Jayhawk?
Me: Yea, I wanna be a Jayhawk!
V.O: So is it a direct PhD or you have a Master's degree.
Me: I had my Master's degree last year from the University of Lagos.
V.O: What course?
Me: Biochemistry
V.O: Have u travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me: No, I have not had any reason to.
V.O: Do you have any kid?
Me: No
V.O: Okay. I will be approving your VISA........bla bla bla
Me: Thank you very much.

It was just sheer favor. No document was requested. No serious question at all.

No fear sir, the DS 160 page has a space each for SURNAME and GIVEN NAMES

But the visa application page has for just SURNAME and FIRST
NAME, so it doesn't contain your middle name. Your DS160 will show all ur names while the visa application page will show just ur surname and first name only. It is no issue at all sir...smiles

And your passport number on your Application confirmation page is correct, thats okay.Mine is the same. No middle name om my Visa Appointment page.

I suggest you fill another form and change the ds160 application code to the new one. The only reason why you will need to print a new ds160 without submission is if you have less than 72hrs left before your interview.
This is just how I understand it, the gurus in the house should still help look into this.

I have a PhD admission with GTA and feel I should have filled in my school name instead.

While surfing the net, I saw two sets ofinformation
(i) that I can complete another DS160 and bring it the new confirmation page along to the interview.
(ii) that I can complete a new DS 160 form and update my code on the Visa Application profile and then print a new appointment page.

My inquiries

(1) Pls, is any of the above possible without affecting my appointment schedule.
(2) Do they apply to Nigeria applicants as the info i got was provided on an Indian page.
(3) Or do u think that error will not affect my interview?

I'm not a regular poster here but I follow it ardently. I also heard about B.Y MAFIT from here and did my GRE and TOEFL registration with them. You can get access to the Magoosh premium account for free and also attend class based lectures for free for about 2 months.

I think we need someone on this thread to register with them and attend the classes and give us feedback and if someone is attending already please share your experience.

Experience: About 2 years as a Graduate Assistant (would most likely be an Assistant Lecturer before submitting my application.

Middle Tennessee State University (in no particular order of preference).

My enquiries:
1.Pls the gurus in the house should help me peruse the above list and give a sincere critique vis a vis my profile.

2. I need suggestions on SAFE schools for my profile (esp. schools that allow upload of unofficial transcript).

3. Anyone on the thread with a similar ambition or had a similar ambition and went through (currently running PhD program) should pls indicate for a personal chat including Mr Time2Smile.

I would reply your Pm but I want to post it here for the benefit of everyone ; One of the things I learnt during this application season is importance of research experience for Phd admission in life sciences and recommendation letters from your research supervisors.

So I would ask you; Any publication.? What about current research activities?

Publication? Not yet.... Working on publishing my Masters research works, but might not get it published before applying.
Have a little research experience in animal cell culture, DNA 'works'; using electrophoresis thermocycler (pcr), (actually worked on gene expression modulation) etc, also a did w little work on toxicology, microbial works, genotoxicity, etc... But no publication yet.

Current research? Will be assisting my supervisor in supervising his students soonest (latest by next month) so definitely will have a number of works on my fingers.

Please i need your contribution on this: I need info on the schools to apply to for PhD in biochemistry/molecular biology. i just finished my Masters (expecting results) but had a 4.50/5.0 in BSc. I will be writing IELTS and GRE in the next few months. am looking forward to SPRING 2018.
