marieolae: Actually funbact-a is the cheapest bleaching cream out there so yes a lot girls use it to lighten their skin. According to some people it has a very fast effect. But please this thing is cheap. So cheap to the extent that there are some really harmful chemicals found in this thing. Caution your cousin to stop using this. This cream could damage the melanin in her skin What! |
Nairaland General › Is This The Secret Bleaching Cream? by ayukdaboss(op): 6:15pm On Aug 11, 2014 |
I went over to see my cousin last weekend. Last time we met earlier this year babe was almost dark-skinned but now she's got really lighter I had to accuse her of bleaching. She shrugged and said she just got light naturally over time...Ha ahn So she went making lunch for us...and I strolled into her room to look around (I wasn't searching for her bleaching cream o..I don't even know what it looks like) but I noticed so many empty tubes hidden/kept somewhere with the inscription FUNBACT-A. I ran to the kitchen with some of the tubes After much argument she finally agreed that some people use it for skin ailments while some girls use in large quantity for bleaching and she claimed her category was the latter and she's just enjoying the side effects. Please have you heard/used this one before? What were your side effects? Because my cousin has gotten too light for me to believe its just "FUNBACT-A" o

Education › Ade Ajayi, Former UNILAG VC, Dies At 85 by ayukdaboss(op): 3:14am On Aug 11, 2014*. Modified: 3:52am On Aug 11, 2014 |
Renowned historian and a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Ade Ajayi, has passed on.
Although his family had not released an official statement as of 8 pm press time on Sunday, a reliable source said he died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan on Saturday.
Among scholars of his age and beyond, Ajayi was particularly respected for the thoroughness of his researches and the fact that he gave character to the study of African history.
A profile of him read “As an early writer of Nigerian and African history, Ajayi brought considerable respect to the ‘Ibadan School’ and African research. He was known for the arduous research and rigorous effort he put into his work.
“By extensive use of oral sources in some of his works, such as pre-twentieth century Yoruba history, he was able to weigh, balance and reconcile each and all of his sources, uncovering a pathway towards facts in the period which was scarce in written and non prejudiced forms.”
Meanwhile, scholars and other dignitaries have started paying tributes to Ajayi.
US-based legal practitioners, Emmanuel Fashakin, described him as a trail blazer in many respects.
He said in an online tribute, “He was extremely humble. Indeed, we lost a gem, another worthy son of Africa.”
Also, Prof. Olutayo Asesina of the University of Ibadan said Ajayi was extremely profound and energetic. Adesina added, “He was a phenomenon and one of the foremost African historians. He put African history and historiography on the world map.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, told our correspondent that Ajayi was a legend of African history.
According to him, he was not only a writer, he was also a specialist who could pontificate on the world and African history.
“Alongside the late Prof. Kenneth Dike, Prof. Ajayi defined the essence of African history. He was not just a wordsmith, he was also a genius who understood the essence of the subject and gave respect to the continent,” Olukoju said.
Born in Ikole-Ekiti State on May 26, 1929, Ajayi started education at St. Paul’s School, Ikole, at the age of five.
He then proceeded to Ekiti Central School for preparation as a pupil teacher, after which he attended Igbobi College in Lagos.
He eventually gained admission to the University of Ibadan, where he studied History.
In 1952, Ajayi travelled abroad and studied at the Leicester University under the tutelage of Prof. Jack Simmons, a brilliant Oxford-trained historian.
After graduation, he was a research fellow at the Institute of Historical Research, London from 1957-1958. He later returned to Nigeria and joined the history department of the University of Ibadan.
In 1964, he was made Dean of Arts at the University and later promoted a deputy Vice Chancellor. After his stint as deputy Vice Chancellor, he was made the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos in 1972.
The twilight of Ajayi’s career as VC was a controversial one, especially as issues surrounding the historical Ali Must Go student riot led to his early exit. But many years after his tenure he continued to work for the advancement of knowledge, society and humanity in general.
In 1993, Ajayi was awarded the “Distinguished Africanist Award” by the African Studies Association. His works include Yoruba Warfare in the Nineteenth Century; Christian Missions in Nigeria, 1841-1891: The Making of a New Elite; and General History of Africa. www.punchng.com/news/ade-ajayi-former-unilag-vc-dies-at-85-2/

Romance › EPIC: Couple Married For 62 Years Die Holding Hands by ayukdaboss(op): 3:02am On Aug 11, 2014 |
In one of the most interesting love stories in history, Don and Maxine Simpson from Bakersfield, California, United States, died a few days ago with their hands firmly clutched to each other’s. The pair, who has been together for 62 years, was inseparable throughout their lifetime, maintaining that strong bond even to their deathbed. They died just four hours apart.
“I knew in my heart this is what’s supposed to happen – Grandma and grandpa are supposed to be together and grandma and grandpa are going to die together,” granddaughter Melissa Sloan, told KERO News.
Two weeks ago, Don broke his hip after falling from the stairs. Even though he was immediately rushed to the hospital for proper medical attention, he never really recovered from that accident. At the same time, the cancer his wife had been fighting also took a painful twist, with the disease sucking up every available strength in her by the minute.
“I told my sister on the phone, we got one shot to get them together,” Sloan said. Despite their condition, the couple demanded to be together. They were subsequently moved to a spare room in thefamily’s home where they stayed for a while before exiting the world together.
“We kept them together, and had their beds side-by-side,” Sloan said. “Gram woke up and saw him, and held hands and they knew that they were next to each other.”
Knowing she was in safe hands, Maxine soon took her last breath in the hands of the very man she had adored and loved for more than six decades. “I walked them out with her body, walked back in to check on grandpa and he quit breathing as soon as her body left the room,” Sloan told KERO News. “He left with her, and they passed four hours apart from each other. It’s just amazing. It really is amazing. It’s a true love story,” she said.
Don, a civil engineer in North Dakota, was stationed in Bakersfield, where he met Maxine at a bowling alley. The two travelled the world together and adopted two songs along the way.
It’s a love story that may remind you of a Hollywood movie, but it’s real. www.punchng.com/feature/weird-planet/couple-married-for-62-years-dies-holding-hands/

Tired of being lonely, a 50-year-old man from New York, United States, Dan Perino, has embarked on a bizarre search of a partner by flooding the entire city with dozens of his posters. According to abcnews.com, Perino decided to try this new method of finding love after the traditonal way of doing things failed. He is plastering posters of himself all over Manhattan in a bid to find the woman of his dreams.
The black-and-white posters consist of a large photograph of Dan, with the words 'Looking for a Girlfriend’ below. He’s currently pasting them all over the city – on post boxes, lamp posts, and parking meters. Dan claims that he received hundreds of calls only a few hours after the fliers went up. Some women were genuinely interested, while others thought the posters were a joke. As strange as it sounds, the posters idea seems to have worked – Dan already has one date set up.
But he has no plans to stop any time soon; he says he’s going to put up 500 fliers every day for the next 30 days. His needs are quite simple – “I’m looking for an average woman that likes to do the same things that I do,” he said. “I want to find a more meaningful relationship.”
People’s reactions to Dan’s initiative have been mixed. Some think he’s crazy, while others believe he might be on to something. www.punchng.com/feature/weird-planet/man-pastes-posters-all-around-new-york-in-desperate-search-for-love/

You sure did a good job searching for topics to compliment your stupidity but unlike you,I'm not frustrated and jobless but there are so many negative topics about your useless country on nl and your sh!t forums! The reason why you can't stay without ours.
Is it not the same ghana where women beat up their husbands? A country of lazy men and your actors think the best way to beat nollywood is to become porn stars!! I see it on your useless dry forum where you cry out about your shamesless actors disgracing you and how Nigerians will see it and laugh.
Your country is not even quater of Nigerian's population or size. Countries of your population and size are 1st world country but your useless country is still in third!! Take a look at your hospital posted by the op. I'm sure that's where your mother gave birth to you,the reason why you are so useless and dirty.
Shameless LovePeddler hussling in Nigerian clubs and after getting paid you have the guts to run your mouth. America and Europe butt lickers but they still call you 'Black monkeys'!! Swine!! I'm really scared of you |

Who are the very creative minds behind this? did they do it all on their own or through a hollywood collabo? will there be a movie premiere? Rubbish!! And to think an ignorant bunch will patronise this shi*t is just appalling! Shame on the Nollywood management for letting this surface online. I'm so disappointed |
