chief Imam:Assalamualaikum bro, Bismilllahir-rehmanir-raheem. In the Tafseer by ibn Kathir its mentioned that the above verse refers to the obligatory deeds like Salah, etc. But the reward of voluntary deeds like Sadaqa etc can be offered to others. There is a hadith that mentions that the Prophet (saw) allowed the son of a dead parent to do Hajj for her. Here is the extract of the Tafseer of the Verse you mentioned. In the foregoing section we have explained that verse [39] means that no person can perform an obligatory act, such as faith, prayers and fasts, on behalf of some other person to free him of his religious duties. He will be able to benefit only from the good he himself has done. This, however, does not imply that a person cannot perform supererogatory acts and proffer their reward to someone else. There is ample textual evidence of ShAri'ah that a person can supplicate or give charity or do any other good deed and proffer its reward to others. Further, there is an overwhelming consensus of the Ummah on this issue. (IbnKathIr) |
"Treat people in such a way and live amongst them in such a manner that if you die they weep over you, and when you are alive, they seek for your company." - Ali ibn Abi Talib (R) |

Narrated Abu Mas'ud: The Prophet(saw) said, "If a man spends on his family sincerely for Allah's sake then it is a (kind of) alms-giving in reward for him. [Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 52] |
Abu Dawud, Book 21, Number 3236: Narrated Imran ibn Husayn: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: :"f anyone swears a false oath in confinement, he should make his seat in Hell on account of his (act)." |

But their plot was in vain, Allah the All knower destroyed their plot and our beloved Prophet :saw: safely escaped. And (remember, O Muhammad) when the disbelievers were plotting against you to hold you (in detention) or to kill you or to expel you. And they were plotting and Allah was plotting, and Allah is the best of those who plot. [Suratul Anfaal: 30] |

"Never do I argue with a man with a desire to hear him say what is wrong, or to expose him and win victory over him. Whenever I face an opponent in debate I silently pray - 'O Lord, help him so that truth may flow from his heart and on his tongue, and so that if truth is on my side, he may follow me; and if truth be on his side, I may follow him.' Bismillahir-rehmanir-reheem. Importance of spending Money in the right path Assalamualaikum, رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي Today the Imam pointed out How important it is to spend Money as charity. He mentioned the following Hadith: Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 76, Number 480: Narrated Warrad(the scribe of Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba): Muawiya wrote to Al-Mughira: "Write to me a narration you have heard from Allah's Apostle." So Al-Mughira wrote to him, "I heard him(saw) saying the following after each prayer: 'La ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu-l-mulk wa lahuI-hamd, wa huwa 'ala kulli Shai-in qadir.' He(saw) also used to forbid idle talk, asking too many questions (in religion), wasting money, preventing what should be given, and asking others for something (except in great need), being undutiful to mothers, and burying one's little daughters (alive)." He mentioned the following examples. 1. A man was sleeping in the corner of Masjid Nabawi. When he woke up, he saw a child standing in front of him. The child seemed to be very poor, so the man decided to give some money to the child. He gave 1000 dirhams to the child. The child was astonished by the amount of money he received and informed his father. The father said to the son:' O son, that man is none other than Ameerul Mu'mineen, Usmaan bin Afaan (ra).' 2. When the Muhajireen came to Medina the well which they took water from, called bi'r-i-Rumah, belonged to the Jews. It was Usmaan bin Afaan (ra) who bought the well for 35,000 Dirhams (or 25,000 i do not remember the exact amount) for the Muslims and distributed the water for free. The Imam then recited the Following Ayah: إِنَّ اللَّـهَ اشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. . . [Surat-u-Tawba:111] Never be worried if you are spending in charity and in the way of Allah, for you will get in exchange better than what you spend, in Jannah. (also there is one more hadith he mentioned, InshaAllah i will post it after i recollect it properly) |
Let not your tongue mention the shame of another, For you yourself are covered in shame and all men have tongues. If your eye falls upon the sins of your brother, Shield them and say: "O my eye! All men have eyes!" [ Imaam Ash-Shaafi`i ] |
