Financial analysis is the critical review of financial information to determine the viability, sustainability, healthiness of any business venture or entity. it also includes the critical review of the cashflow projections and statements to help determine the liquidity position of the venture.

Financial analysis has become important in nigeria today, given the influx of sick and dying companies into the stock market and other markets in which investors lose part or all of their fund.

i could remember the incident of all states trust bank where all the investors are still "looking mirror"(sic). also the recent cadbury saga. we therefore need to discuss financial analysis, because it represents the basic tool for investment decision making.

i could feel your pain and agony. obtaining loan to acquire shares is a risky business not only to you but also the banks. the stock market is unpredictable, hence the high risk. obtaining loan to acquire the shares is additional risk as possibility occurs that the market might not be favourable and you may be unable to repay the loan. the interest chargeable on the loan may be higher than the envisaged returns from your stocks especially in the short run.

my candid advise is that you keep your land, think of what to do on the land and start doing it. you may apply to the banks for mortgage loan- which is less risky.

this is the best topic i have read on nairaland. pal you did a good job. many of us feel that what is important in any decision making is the "rate of returns". we goofed. i was thought that the higher your return the higher your risks and vice versa. these "money doublers" promised you heaven on earth with their enticing and "unignorable" returns, but they never told you your right should they default.

a pal of mine brought two of those forms to me to consult for him and advice him whether to invest in them or not. after critical evaluation of the so called investment, i realized the high level of risk. i informed him of the high risk level associated with the investment but allow him to make his choice.

a week later, he called me to say "CBN has declared wonder banks a CAVEAT EMPTOR". he thanked me. pals in the house, if you think you are an high risk tolerant and taker, you could invest in them, else, seek other options.
