Politics › Re: How Ministers, Governors Sabotaged Jonathan by BabaO2: 3:51pm On Apr 05, 2015 |
brownlord: If you believe the APC never enticed electorates with money, then you can believe anything.
Jonathan's case got sour because power must return to the north, Incase you did not read the report, the northern governors or senators who are supposed to disburse the ( pocket infrastructure ) money held on to the money in some case some working against the party so as to give victory to the opposition ( the man from their region ).
So you get the gist now? Oh yes and lots of people really wanted the "change" now we have it Be tactical when talking in public. Ofcourse APC spent money on normal logistics in electioneering, but we are talking of nake-d buying of votes in both hard currencies and local currency also using presidential aircrafts recklessly. Secondly, why can't you talk like this is 2011?, it was same Buhari that was the main contender against Jonathan. In 2011, Obj single handedly campaigned and installed him. But because of inept ability, it was obvious a dangerous rookie was installed. Hence, Nigerians desired change and change was effected. |

Bevista: I think General Abdulsalami has been unsung. People have hailed the act of PGEJ, but nobody talks about the role Abdulsalami played in that whole process. For me, he deserves even more commendation - he is the real hero!
Diezani knows how instrumental he is, so she has gone for him to help broker her soft-handling wit GMB. I hope the General does not accede to this Grand Thief. It is because of dealing with people like her that Nigerians voted GMB. Abdusallami cannot help her, it was a hard won victory by the people. They want to sabotage Buhari. Buhari and his political environment must know the implications. Dezieani's case is beyond abdusalami and even Buhari. We are watching. |
Politics › Re: Dear Oby, A People Have The Right To Choose Their Hero by BabaO2: 11:25am On Apr 04, 2015 |
[s] mcdokwe: I have been in Nigeria for quite a while and it beats me how a people can be so insensitive, attention seeking and never know when to give up.
I have always tried to stay away from political discus especially when it is difficult to be objective or expect that the other party tries to be, no matter how little.
Oby Ezekwesili is one woman who has had her chance to build Nigeria, how much she was able to impact on the polity is a topic for another day.
She obviously, like most of us, wanted to hold on and remain in the political space and especially considering the fact that her party was still in power. But Uncle Joe wouldn't have any of that and that explains her fighting from the other side (very understandable)
She had done her best in trying to ridicule the Presidency especially using her bring back our girls campaign. Not my business.
She had openly identified with the opposition. Understandable
But she doesn't have the right to choose whom our heroes are.
Our lives are not lived on the TV and might not worth anything to her other than a veiled advocacy which of course would be belated. So we choose our hero who made sure nothing happened to us.
After the conduct of the Presidential Elections, a lot of us, Corp Members, Market women, Christians living in the north (even where they are majority) slept with our eyes open, looked back with every step thrown, left our known residents, closed down our businesses, avoided a lot of places, vowed not to be part of of the elections anymore due to the obvious danger should GEJ do what Oby and those she worked for do just to win an election.
Our lives were in danger, our investments stood the risk of being torched by irate un enlightened followers who do not understand. How a democracy works.
But this man decided not to let all these happen, he didn't use the tools at his disposal to ensure he remains there and when he lost, he didn't cry on national TV wiping up sentiments and threatening to bring down the heavens, he didn't wait for people to act first and cause mayhem which off course would have been replied, he acted first.
He conceded defeat and on time, no protests that would have led to the loss of lives, all the fears were allayed and the known violence that would have followed if the result turned the other way averted.
So GEJ is my hero, and that of a thousand folks whose being and well-being were threatened. He doesn't have to be yours given that you were made irrelevant in his government, he doesn't have to be yours since your loyalty unquestionably lies the other way, he just doesn't have to be your hero but don't tell us whom our hero should be.
#GEJMyHero #GEJdnewface of democratic Nigeria [/s] These people, stop defiling everything that comes to you by chance and stop insulting heroism. Jonathan only chose freedom and live over incarceration and death that awaits him if he had not conceded peacefully. Physical evidences of violence reported to ICC by opposition party has gravely implicated him. Video and reminder of Gbagbo and Simone by OBJ was reoccurring in his brain. |

Politics › Re: How Jonathan Defeated Obasanjo by BabaO2: 1:57pm On Apr 03, 2015 |
Marvin67: I never understood what people meant whenever they said GEJ never loses a battle until I saw the outcome of the elections. The 2015 presidential election wasn't just a battle between GEJ and GMB, it was also a battle between GEJ and OBJ. Everyone who knows Nigeria well, knows that OBJ spent his time in office, trying to create a name for himself in Africa. Eventually, he left office and became one of Africa's most respected former leaders. GEJ however had more issues on his neck while he was Nigeria's president, and I'm sure he almost had no time to think of Africa. But after losing the elections, GEJ performed an act that made him leap frog OBJ to being one of Africa's greatest. His singular act of congratulating the winner, made the whole world and all of Africa respect him. In some quarters he's been described as the father of modern democracy in Nigeria.
Even the APC which I never thought would ever use the name Jonathan and commend in the same sentence has this to say through Alhaji Lai Mohammed by that singular act, which went a long way in dousing post-election tension, the President had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. It also noted that Jonathan had written his name in gold in the annals of Nigeria’s history and catapulted himself to a statesman.
Also, Mo Ibrahim a man who has never said anything about OBJ had this to say about GEJ; Thank you Mr President. If you are seeking a legacy, you have definitely achieved it.” If GEJ eventually wins the Mo Ibrahim award for 2015, then he'd definitely be smiling all over Africa, far more than OBJ is smiling. When the UN, AU, Commonwealth, etc looks for an African democrat to use an example, they'd definitely use GEJ, while OBJ falls into the category of so many former presidents.
Lastly, as my warri friend said "who God don bless, God don bless, Jona no dey ever lose. Him lose Aso Rock, but him win Africa". Rubbish. His head no dey there, picture of Gbagbo and Simone reoccurring in his head. Leap frog Ko leap toad ni. Stop embellishing rubbish, must he have claimed victory, when he has actually lost woefully even with doctored results from Ss and SE? |

He took the cue from gov Fayemi. Opposition has already open gate of prison for him and his wife by reporting them to ICC before the election. There was high alert to pick him and others up if there had been post election violence. GEJ has done his part, APC must act maturedly at this time. The 12mil + GEJ voters are still nursing their losses.
Any unnecessary witchhunting at this early stage could end ugly. So 19 state house members should be barred from sitting? Again 7 is greater than 19 in Pdp/fayose's voice |
