Because a large number of Nigerians are traders, and small scale businessmen and women, and a united Nigeria is essential for their businesses to run. Once Nigeria gets divided, borders go up....and prices go up.

Because a large percentage of the elite have their investments in the South and middle belt, and a divided Nigeria at best means they end up paying higher taxes as 'foreigners', at worst, they lose everything. (How did dividing Sudan work for their elite? Very well....lol).

Because a large amount of the food eaten in the South comes from the North, especially grains. A divided Nigeria...food supplies become more expensive, prices go up.

Because most of the people calling for division are Southerners who feel cheated out of 1) job places 2) university and unity school places...in the Federal government.

In a way, if we must divide Nigeria, we also have to divide other African countries...which leads me to my final point....all African countries are contraptions...but the sad fact is before the Europeans created the contrapitions...much of subsaharan Africa was a wild place. Big dog eat small dog. Big tribes enslaving small tribes, and selling them off to themselves and to the Americas, Arabia, even India, and Europe. Mass genocides. Then the Europeans came , put us into large contrapitons...and then conquered us. You said Africa was a wild place,bigger tribes fighting and enslaving each other,while that is true,it wad just the times,even Europeans that created these contraptions were in wars fighting each other,all other continents were fighting each other in that era,Scotland were in wars against England, Ireland against England, France was in civil wars, only Portugal was relatively peaceful in Europe at that time,with the exploration by the Europeans, there wars shifted to fighting in other people's land.

I was just watching the news and I saw an advert by the NBC (broadcast regulator) warning stations about incendiary Political comments. One major outline of the warning was that Nigeria is indissoluble and it's unity non negotiable.

How can a country which is does NOTHING, and if which it's government is almost non existing be dissoluble?

If you must reject a southern Muslim President make sure a Christian is elected as president.
