@OP do not be discouraged. A guy in my office just got a clean Mitsubishi Lancer for 250k.
Engine and gear in perfect condition. Interior too was clean. Rug don stain bt dash board was perfect. Body don chop dents tho... Dts d only thing he will be working on. So dont be discouraged. If dts wat U have, God can direct you to a place U will get a good vehicle....

Mitsubishi cars are relatively cheap though. I even know someone that wants to sell a 2000 Mitsubishi lancer for that same amount. He might even reduce the price if he gets a serious buyer ready to pay.

Good evening dear nairalander's, I need your help car gurus in the house.... I drive a Nissan Altima 2000 model, there is one day that I travelled to sango otta in ogun state and I entered a very deep flood coz rain fell so heavily that day. After getting out of the flood, I noticed the car engine started revving high once I accelerate slowly but will do normal when I'm speeding. When I got to my house, I took it to my mechanic and he said it is gear issue. I was shocked coz the gear was working perfectly well until I entered the flood. I took it to a guy who is a gear expert and after test driving, he said the gear is still okay coz it selects well aside the high revving issue. He told me that the only thing that can cause the issue is that the transmission oil filter must have been clogged after entering the flood. He now said he will have to wash the oil filter to remove clog from it and I will have to buy another transmission oil to service the gear. He said I will need 8 litres of the oil(4 litres x2). Now my question is..... Is it necessary that I must change the oil after the filter has been washed, can't he drain the oil, wash the filter and replace it back with the same oil? Secondly, do I need up to 8 litres of oil to service my transmission? I need your contributions please gurus in the house.

I have one if you are interested. The price is 450k but you will have to do some repairs. The car is first body but it has faded and you might wish to repaint it. Here are the things to fix.... Bumper needs minor fixing (5k maximum). AC compressor needs replacement (15k). Repainting (Optional). Engine and gear is in perfect condition ( come with your mechanic for confirmation). Oga, buy the car, it’ll serve you for a couple of years till you can upgrade to a higher taste after all, motor dey call motor. Just get a good mechanic that’ll be servicing it

I think it depends on your usage and maintenance culture ( possibly servicing with low quality engine and transmission oil). You are the first person giving negative review about the car (both online and offline). I have decided to risk it coz I believe no matter what happens, I can't still sell below 250k and at the end I won't have anything to lose. Thanks for your contribution anyways. I appreciate.

You should have read between the lines that I was only asking for reviews about the car to know how durable it is. So far I know the history of the car and how sound it is doesn't mean I should not ask if there might be issues I could possibly be experiencing about it in the future. Yes it is good for that price but be ready to spend the balance on visiting the mechanic's workshop like once a week.

ok sir. I know the history o the sir because I knew when he bought it as tokunbo 3yrs ago and he doesn't joke with the servicing of the engine as at when due. He is a road safety official and he knows the danger in not maintaining cars. Moreover the mileage is below 90k which means he doesn't use it as such. Thank you for your contribution sir. The mileage is 87k sir. He doesn't use the car much because of the bad road that leads to his house and that's why he's opting for SUV and hence he needs to sell this car.

I opened a trend few days back about a friend who is intending to sell his Nissan Altima 2001 model for me, he said i should bring 250k coz we are friends. The car engine, gear and ac is very perfect according to the report my trusted mechanic gave me when I took the car to him for inspection. He told me to pay on time for the car before my friend change his mind because he will definitely sell it higher than that if not because we are friends. 250k with sound engine and transmission means you should buy the car though it’s better you get a paid mechanic for pre-inspection in case there are unknown problems. There a lore a couple of them here who can offer their services to you for a fair price cc gazzuzz

Another thing you may wish to know is that the economy of Nissan Altima is awesome. I have used Toyota Camry before now. but the fuel economy of Nissan Altima beat Toyota Camry hands down.
Early Nissan Altimas comes with 2.4 engine while Toyota Camry is 2.2 engine but I keep imagining the technology used by Nissan to achieve a better fuel economy.

op I was in the same delima 6 months ago. I saw a used 1998 Nissan Altima for sale in Abuja. I quickly came to nairaland for review and what I saw here discouraged me. so I decided to seek for users review on CarGurus.
Users review on CarGurus show 99.8 percent positive review. finally I bought the car, 6 months down, I have only change oil and nothing more.
1997-2001 Nissan Altima has no issue and the auto gear last almost forever if you use the recommended transmission fluid.

Neatly used Mercedes Benz ml 320 for sale. The engine is in great condition with a perfect manual gear as well. What needs fixing is the power steering pump (steering still soft when driving but gets hard a little bit when you are not on motion) and the AC compressor. Aside those two things mentioned, nothing else is wrong with the car. Just buy, fuel the car and zoom off to your destination. Price is slightly negotiable. Interested buyers can call or Whatsapp me.
