He raised very valid points here. I do not understand what the judgement had to say about Section 162 (3). Has the Supreme Court set aside that Section or repealed it?

He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. The same Governors that have shown repeated disdain for Constitutional provisions in respect of Local Government Councils now want to hide under provisions of the same Constitution?

Section 7 (1) of the Constitution and others related have been repeatedly violated by Governors but they now want us to hold Section 162 (3) sacrosanct? What happened to Section 162 (7)(cool that mandated distribution of funds due to the Local Councils, which most of the States refuse to comply with? You want money in a Joint Account as prescribed by the Constitution but you are not ready to comply with the mandates regarding the distribution as prescribed by the same Constitution and you want the Courts to listen to you? Sorry, the Constitution was not made for Governors.

I think the bible made that clear but men should treat their wives with utmost respect

Can you please quote the book, chapters and verses where the Bible made it clear that the husband owns the wife?

Ephesians 5:25 says "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her". Does it make sense to love what you own (your possession) to the point of giving your life for it?

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers” (1 Peter 3:7)

How do you explain that the husband owns the wife in the context of 1 Peter 3:7? Does something you own become a partner and joint heirs with you?

Be careful the kind of preachers you listen to. Some of them are just smooth speakers without any sound biblical training, who try to use their own reasoning to explain matters of spirituality and the Bible.

This Ado Bayero is power intoxicated

Ado Bayero is just wasting his time. He was Emir over a Kano Emirate that was made up of only 8 Local Governments. The law that created that Kano Emirate of 8 LGAs has been abolished and replaced with a new law that reverted the Kano Emirate back to 44 Local Governments. Bayero's Kano Emirate no longer exists and he cannot be Emir over a non-existent Emirate. Even the Federal High Court that gave them Kangaroo Judgement refused to abolish or tamper with the new law passed by the Kano State House of Assembly.

It is indeed commendable. However we must not forget that effective private and public charging stations are germaine to the successful operation of these vehicles in addition. Good roads are also necessary to get optimum mileage from each charge in the operation of these vehicles.

Just like the Telcos eventually realized in the management of towers, having interoperable charging stations by the vehicle manufacturers would save cost and accelerate adoption of the vehicles by the general public.

The EFCC Act mandates cass to be tried in Federal High Courts but never stated that it must be in a particular location. Was it not the same Abuja where Bello built houses and acquired shopping mall and even sent his children to school on suspected stolen funds? So even at that, elements of the crime were clearly committed in Abuja.

I don't blame the LGBTQ people. It is the Pope that I blame. God loves everyone including sinners but He made it clear in the Bible that He hates homosexuality. The mind of God is spoke through His Word and on the issue of homosexuality, His mind is clear to us all.

The Pope and any GO are at best representatives of God. They cannot permit what God has not permitted in the name of being seen as accommodating. The Church gates are not closed to anybody but you cannot force the church to accept your ways.

When the Pope starts going out of his way to make concessions to LGBTQ people, then they will ask for more and he ends up boxing himself into a corner that is of his own making and not of God.

So this guy has been asking my sister out for sometime now but my sister refused. Only for the guy to tell her that he is going to kill her, stab her to death and that he'll kill himself too after. I wouldn't have been bothered by the threats if not for the fact that the said guy is a very mentally unstable person, i don't even know how he got my sisters number. He lives in our street literally knows where we live. I don't think my sis is safe will such person on the loose and we're considering reporting the threats to the police, but the thing now is that they might release him later since he hasn't committed any serious offence and i don't want my sister to be the one he kills before he goes to jail for good..

nlfpmod Mynd44 farano OAM4J Dominique

Your assumption that he has not committed any serious offense threatening your sister is wrong. The fact that he has sent a message containing the threat is all you need and that is a criminal offense.

Threatening to kill a person in writing whether on paper or through electronic media like WhatsApp or SMS is a big offence under Section 323 of the Criminal Code Law of the Southern States of Nigeria which attracts a jail term of seven years.

The person is also guilty of cyber stalking under Section 24 (3) of the Cybercrimes Act 2015 which carries a punishment of a fine of N 25 million or imprisonment of 10 years or both fine and imprisonment.

Section 24 (3) of the Cybercrime Act states as follows:

"Knowingly or intentionally transmitting or causing the transmission of any communication through a computer system or network to bully, threaten or harass another person where such communication places another person in fear of death, violence or bodily harm or to another person. Such an offender will be liable to imprisonment for a term of 10 years and/or a minimum fine of N25,000,000.00"

The person threatening your sister is in serious problem with that message and it is better you take it up.

All these are still nonesense. We don't need all these. Let the government do true privatizion of the sector and not all these nonesense

I can't imagine government buying phones for us because we want to talk. No

As long as government doesn't buy phone for anybody, let everyone buy their metres themselves. Buying prepaid metres for customers is another avenue for stealing and nothing else.

Remove all government burecreacy and let true private individuals invest in the sector and fix prices themselves and see how the sector will grow not these nonesense we are doing and deceiving ourselves

The Discos do not want prepaid metering to work because estimates billing is better revenue wise for them. They can thus get customers to pay for their inefficiencies.

I agree with you that Government awarding contracts to buy prepaid meters for consumers is a waste of public funds. It is just an avenue to loot. All they just have to do is make a law that no consumer can be forced to pay for estimated billing again until the discos supply any prepaid meter the consumer has paid for. There hundreds of thousands of consumers that have paid for prepaid meters and the discos are yet to supply the meters and still charging them on estimated billing.

The Discos are in the electricity business for their own gain and not public good. It is the consumers that Government has a responsibility to protect and not the discos. If the people running the discos do not know the business, then let them fail and others take their place, not continue to waste public funds subsidizing private businesses.

Your understanding of the BVAS accreditation process appears to be limited, and your comment suggests that you have not participated in any elections since the introduction of BVAS. As someone who served as a party agent in the most recent election and voted, I can clarify that the chip in the PVC is irrelevant when voting with BVAS. The critical requirement is for your profile to be registered in the BVAS machine. If your details are not present in the machine, it cannot complete the accreditation process. Accreditation is conducted through either fingerprint or facial recognition, and the machine must match this biometric data with its records to proceed. Furthermore, the BVAS system maintains a count of the number of individuals it has accredited.

Yiaga Africa is right, what we need is only a means of identification to vote after registration.

Please what is the purpose of an identification document when you already know someone and can identify him/her through biometrics (fingerprint and face recognition) as you claim BVAS does? I know the technology and technicality behind these devices. Some of the claimed functions of these devices exhibit a high level of false positives as to question their authentication capabilities. How often have you ever heard people apprehended for double voting or multiple registration on the INEC platforms? Zero. They claims they were out multiple registrations but that is a claim that is only verified by and known to them. The fact that you need a physical identity document is clear indicator that the BVAS has shortcomings and that discretionary step that it is this introducing can and will be abused.

Exceptional300:
so would you advise I speak to them about it to know what they think?

Discuss it with your parents who have your best interests at heart not necessarily because you are a child that cannot make up your mind as soon will want you to think. Sometimes additional opinions are needed on important issues like this. When the chips are down, is it not these same parents that you expect to be by your side?

You should also seek medical opinion from a gynecologist and also pray about it to know if she's God's choice for you. The girl has been honest on telling you she had PCOS with surgery but that may not be the entire truth. The fact that an ovary was removed showed the PCOS was severe and wasn't responding to any medication or ovary drilling. You definitely need expert medical opinion because there may be post-surgery issues that you need to be aware of.

If you or your parents are wealthy, the inability of your wife to carry a baby may not be an entire deterrent to marriage because you can have surrogates carry baby fertilized by your sperm and your wife's egg. So the babies belong biologically to you and your wife. But such is quite expensive running into millions of Naira per baby.

The official motto for the United States of America (USA) is: "In God We Trust" and the inscription can be seen on every coin and paper currency in the country.

In the USA, The Pledge of Allegiance mentions one nation under God as seen thus: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

The Presidential Oath taken by every USA President since 1789 contains the words: "so help me God".

The Oath of Allegiance of the United States taken by every immigrant becoming a USA citizen ends with the words: "so help me God."

All the States in the USA mention God in one way or the other in their Constitution with 50 States explicitly referencing God in their Constitutions.

It is therefore clear that seeking to erase God from America is antithetical to the spirit of the founding of the country.

Na big advice from Yiaga Africa here. INEC should work on this advice for a way forward for our electoral process in Nigeria election

The PVC removes discretion in identification because it carries the chip for the identification process. Saying BVAS already contains details of voters and any identification can be used depends on the discretion of the officer managing the identification process. That is a big room for error and compromise that invalidates the entire purpose of the BVAS because any chain is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain.

The suggestion of Itodo and his Yiaga Africa should be done away with because it emanates either out of ignorance or cunning to undermine the integrity of the election process.

The only thing which will happen is the physician having a change of heart today and apologizing. It won’t bring back any lives. Some fathers may report that they were aware at the time and felt deep guilt over the matter, however honour was at the forefront of their actions. If given the chance, they would spare the child(ren). It still won’t make a difference since a lost life is one gone forever. The matter is gone and dead (pun recognized). The living ones may see their parents. I doubt they will. Life continues. At least the native people aren’t racist towards them.

Throughout centuries and millenia of written human history, honour has always been in owning up to your mistakes and bearing responsibility, never in killing innocent infants. It is understandable if the Japanese men didn't take the women or children back with them to Japan. But it is inexcusable and criminal to kill infants because the Japanese men wouldn't be able to take them back to Japan.

The Congolese government failed the infants and their mothers by refusing to uphold the sanctity of life for citizens and human beings in general which is a major provision of any Constitution. They could have held the Japanese Mining Company vicariously responsible and forced them to pay hugely for damages and upkeep of the children survivors.

gidgiddy:
This is another classic example of why the Nigerian, and indeed Africans, are backward

The white man comes from Europe, uses superior firepower to overrun your ancestors, bamboozled them all into a British colonial project called "Nigeria"

But long after the white man has gone back home, you are still killing your selves to preserve the country he created. You answer a name "Nigerian" that a white woman created in London as your national identity

When someone like Ojukwu, an indigenous son of the soil, wants to create a country, you fight war, kill your selves in the millions, just to uphold a country created by the white man

But there is nothing you as a black African will ever create that Will make the white man kill his white brother

An enforced illegal colonial contraption that the white man shed the blood of your ancestors to create, is what you now shed the blood of your African brother to uphold. This is what you call treason and terrorism.

Terrible

When Isaac Adaka Boro, an Ijaw activist questioned the ideals of the January 1966 and subsequently declared Niger Delta Republic for the Ijaws to secession from Nigeria, it was Ironsi and Ojukwu that truncated the secession attempt and arrested Boro and his group for treason.

Surprisingly, a little more than a year later, the same Ojukwu declared secession of Biafra Republic which even more surprising included the region of Niger Delta and Ijaws in the new republic.

While a casual observer may think that Ironsi and Ojukwu truly believed in One Nigeria, the truth is that they believed the "Igbo Coup of January 1966" had put Nigeria in the hands of Igbos and they didn't want anyone to rock the boat. In fact the Igbos chose that moment under Ironsi to destroy the Federalism in favour of Unitary government with their kin in the saddle. Unfortunately when things turned around with a counter-coup and reprisals, the same people who turned Nigeria to a Unitary Government made a volte face to declare secession in the name of Biafra Republic. And yet someone will say these are honourable men and the ideals of Biafra are borne out of sincerity? Common!!!

The same Muslim countries that have done absolutely nothing since the start of this conflict, I mean countries like Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, irag etc, they are just watching things, except turkey and Iran.

Meanwhile in far away Europe, countries like Norway, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia have gone as far as recognizing the state of Palestine.

In south America, Columbia cut diplomatic ties with Israel last month, Chile has joined the list of countries rallying behind the genocide case against Israel at the international court of justice.
Brazil has withdrawn its ambassador from Israel

Canada has also suspended arms sales to Israel, South Africa, Russia and china have all criticized Israel harshly

There is an African adage that says it is a child that is not your own that is easy to send on errands at night. There is also another dagae that, if you are sacrifice for peace to reign in the village, what then is your own gain?

Israel is living in the midst of people whose primary language is violence. It is a language that has been spoken for hundreds of years by Arabs in the Middle East and even aided in the propagation of Islam. How many dare speak ill of Islam and its prophet without threats of death or serious harm?

While the West and Europe in particular has adopted a pacifist and politically correct attitude that has seen them welcome influx of wannabe terrorists and fanatics as immigrants and are now paying heavily for it with increased crime rates, stabbings and killings and assaults on women, Israel is not that foolish in its readiness to please anyone at its own detriment.

It is the person wearing the shoe that knows where it pinches. Allow your children to be killed and roasted in ovens and your women, elderly and civilians to be raped and murdered in cold blood without provocation first and then you can come out and talk about disproportionate response and genocide.

If Palestinians are alright with the ideology and actions of Hamas, seeing that none of them condemned the October 7 massacre and even celebrated it, then whatever comes they should all bear it together. If you are harbouring murderers and also cheering them on, then you are no different from them.

If you want to help Palestinians, then help them get rid of Hamas so that development aid would be properly channeled into developing Gaza rather than end up funding the luxurious lifestyles af Hamas leaders and the balance being spent building rockets and buying arms. All these posturing of cutting diplomatic ties is just public drama of little or no value to the Palestinians and Israelis. If your friends are only limited to engaging in diplomatic dances when you are under seige, then they are not your true friends. But I do not blame them anyway: who will sacrifice her citizens for the folly of Hamas?!

Imagine if the president routinely prevents INEC from conducting a governorship election and keeps elongating the tenure of an expired governor??

Or dissolving a State Executive Council and appointing a caretaker committee and Sole Administrator for a State? That would be anti-democractoc and smart of dictatorship. Yet that and more is what State Governors are doing to the Local Government Areas.

A State Governor in Nigeria is a dictator because the House of Assembly which is the democratic check on his excesses is just a puppet in his hands. Tell me one sngle State in Nigeria that the Governor doesn't control the House of Assembly? None.

A State Governor can even pass anti-people legislation and the House of Assembly will not blink twice. Examples are the bills and laws mandating retirement benefits for Governors and their Deputies. No House of Assembly genuinely representing the people will ever pass those kind of self-serving and anti-people laws.

If you have evidence of anyone stockpiling arms, report to the Nigeria Police or nearest law enforcement agency. Making unsubstantiated claims as a basis for violating the law is not excusable.

If he accused Christian countries of having nuclear weapons, is that the basis of telling Muslims in the South West to arm themselves with gun? Are they going on military excursion to those alleged Christian countries with those guns? What line of reasoning are you really trying to to advocate?

The man says arm yourself with guns, learn to shoot, Christians are you enemies and will come to fight you one day. There is no doubt some of his audience may be proactive to reason it is better they attack first rather than wait, since the enemy has been identified.

Most of those protests are funded by civil organizations collecting money from Palestinian and Islamic sympathizers. There are definitely several gullible students involved but most of the protest organizers are in it for personal benefits just like it was found in the case of movements for Black Lives Matter in the USA when some of the organizers and promoters ended up spending millions buying personal houses a couple of years after.

After BLM Foundation raised $90 million in the name of fighting for black lives, Patrice Cullors, one of the co-founders of the foundation bought a $1.4m luxury home in Topanga Canyon, near Malibu, and owned three other homes, including a custom ranch in Georgia. She resigned after the scandal broke out

It is indeed a good initiative if they pull through with the extension officers actively engaging the people and teaching them right. Would it make food cheaper, not really nonetheless, for those who choose to follow the lead, it will reduce their total expense of food which in turn allows money to be spent on other things.

The solution to food security in the country is not everyone doing mini-farming in sacks and buckets. That is ridiculous, particularly when we have a lot of arable land that Fulani marauders and bandits have prevented people from farming.

The solution is having enough large scale farmers and a booming farming industry in the middle belt and all those areas with arable land without the fears of insecurity, bandits and Fulani marauders. The Government should ban open grazing to reduce Fulani cattle destroying crops and increase security to prevent bandits and kidnappers from discouraging farmers.

The Government should then provide funding, mechanization and other farming support and interventions to real farmers and not "CBN Farmers" or "Briefcase Farmers" that collect billions under the guise of farming in collusion with the managers of the Government Interventions.

That in my opinion is the way to go and not these subsistence farming kits. Unfortunately the Government appears not to have the moral strength to ban open grazing and address the security issues.

Well, current people in Nigeria are not the indigenous people of Nigeria. You need to leave too. Sounds good?.

Secondly, you said UN has the right to settle disputes amongst nations. It's being 75 years and the conflicts are not yet resolved. This means giving the land to Europeans in the middle East was fraudulent.

Let's forget about who are the indigenous for a second. Are those White Europeans who called themselves Jews are the indigenous people of the land?. Their problem is not Palestinian Arabs' but the Germans. So the good thing for UN to do was to resettle them in Europe particularly in Germany. Why Palestine?.

And lastly, so you take NL goons as good source of information?. cheesy grin This is why white people don't take Africans seriously. They know that whatever they tell you is what you believe because you never learned anything since after 400 years of slavery. All those clowns supporting Israel with some lope side "history" and the Bible are just goons.

Elder statesmen in Nigeria and around world have lectured you people on this issue several times but because you have decided to be subservient to the "chosen people", your fate has been sealed.

If the UN had chosen Africa to resettle European Jews, I am sure majority of you Africans would be militants by now.

However it is my observation that you appear not to read in-depth and only gloss over things with consequential effect on your ability to logically and reasonably defend your position with verifiable facts and references. This is because if you read the links I posted in my earlier response, you would have seen they were comments posted by me to debunk the lies being parroted around by your ilk. I provided them so as not to waste time repeating myself on issues. Debunk them with verifiable and reasonable evidence rather than parroting unsubstantiated statements.

Alluding to the one minute YouTube video post by your purported Elder statesman in Nigeria as credible evidence or facts is laughable and indicative of your depth of reasoning. First, it is instructive that comments are disabled on the post ostensibly to prevent the bursting of the bubble of the fabricator masquerading as an authority on a subject clearly beyond his capabilities. Secondly, the video is at best the opinion of the maker who is not a known authority on African History much less Middle Eastern history.

Foreign Affairs / Re: UN General Assembly Backs Palestinian Bid For Full Membership by Babinski: 2:04am On May 12

"recommends that the Security Council reconsider the matter favorably."

US abstained

Dead on arrival, eyyah tongue

US didn't abstain. US voted against it. That is clear indication that the recommendation is dead on arrival.

People sometimes act as if their memory is not working. Was it not the same UN in 1947 that proposed a 2 State Solution with Jerusalem being neutral? While Israel accepted the solution, the Palestinian Arabs chose to not only reject it but went to war in an attempt to annihilate the Israel nation. Unfortunately for them, they lost and rather than lick their wounds in peace, he resortes to terrorism.

Almost every aggression of Palestinian Arabs since then has led to loss of lives and land for them, till they have become boxed into Gaza and West Bank. Rather than learn lessons from their actions and history, they have continued to intensify their hatred for Israel and their terrorism actions while using the media and fabricated statistics to whip of public sentiments and sympathy as alternative routes to achieving their objectives against the Israeli nation. They fire rockets from schools, playgrounds and hospitals and hide behind human shields made up of children and women, knowing fully well that return fire from Israel would affect these vulnerable people. Yet they do not mind because it is in order to sacrifice their children, women and civilians to curry international sympathy while the masterminds of terror live in luxury in Qatar.

The same lives of their children and women that is not valued by them, they want the world to place value on it and weep over children that they willingly put forward as human shields to receive bullets and shrapnel for the folly of Hamas. And surprisingly they get some sympathy because some cannot sift the facts from emotional trash thrown out through the media.

Crime / Re: Prophet Oluronbi Jailed 34 Years For Raping Female And Male Church Members by Babinski: 11:18am On May 11
4tomandchi:
The body of Christ is been shamed every day by men like this who lack self control and received their calling from the bottom of hell.

The fraudulent prophet never belonged to the body of Christ in the first instance, so there is no shame on the body of Christ. A Christian is not defined by mere oral claims but by conduct. The followers of Jesus Christ were first called Christians in Antioch after the death and resurrection of Jesus. A "Christian" means someone "behaving like Jesus Christ".

The self acclaimed Prophet Oluronbi never behaved like Jesus Christ and has even stated by his own mouth under recording that he was an animal not fit to live amongst human beings. So when did an animal equate a Christian to say his conviction is a shame on the body of Christ?

Politics / Re: Don’t Leave Host Community In Ruins - Tinubu Warns Lithium Investors by Babinski: 10:38am On May 11

Just imagine the president sounding this way?

Giving this guy's the privilege to cause whatever harm but don't leave the place ruined...

I am shocked the President spoke that way regarding the issue of environmental degradation in the host communities. The issue of environmental impact should not be a matter of opinion or morality but of the law. There must be the clear risk of legal penalties for mining companies to take the issue seriously. Speaking to them this way is an indirect way of telling them that they can create environmental issues in the host communities without risk of legal punishment.
